Ch 18 Attack!

A little while later Kovu and Miwa had met up with Kiara and Kion at the area near Big Springs. To Kovu and Miwa's surprise there was no adult with the twins. "Hey guys!" Kion said with a smile and he and Kiara ran up to their friends.

"Hey there Ky," Miwa said with a smile. Kion smiled back at the pale coated cub.

"Hey Uongo," Kiara said, rubbing up against Kovu.

"Hey Kiara," Kovu said with a nervous laugh. Then the brown coated nine month old cub quickly became serious again as he remembered what he was supposed to do. "Ready for a cool adventure today?" he asked, after pausing for a few minutes. The brown coated cub wasn't entirely sure he wanted to be a part of the plan anymore. But he knew if he went against Zira that would be a very deadly mistake.

"Sure we are!" the twins exclaimed, their eyes lighting up with excitement.

"Should we wait for the others?" Miwa asked. Secretly Miwa was hoping that the others wouldn't be showing up that day.

"Nah," Kion said, waving his paw. "Ono, Kopa, Tiifu and Zuri are hanging out with Fuli on the other side of the Pride Lands. Guess Fuli wanted to show them her turf. Aunt Tama, Aunt Naya and Aunt Cala went with them."

"Yeah," Kiara chimed in. "And Bunga went on his monthly grub gathering trip with Timon and Pumbaa. And Beshte is spending the day with his family. So its just us."

"Just the way I want it," Kovu thought to himself with a slight smile.

"That's fine with me," Miwa said, rubbing up against Kion, who giggled and blushed. Miwa giggled herself as she wrapped her tail around Kion's. Kovu let out a slight laugh and shook his head, glad that his little cousin was so happen. Then he remembered the task at hand. Thinking for a minute Kovu tried to remember where exactly Zira said to meet. Then the location came to him.

"Lets head for the Grasslands," Kovu suggested. "I heard there's some new baby hatchlings on the river bed." After voicing their agreement the four cubs headed for the Grassland/Outland border.

As the cubs were walking Miwa asked a question. "So how come there's no adult with you guys today?" she asked.

"Yeah did your dad finally realize he was wrong?" Kovu asked.

"No," Kion said. "Our Mom was with our grandmothers on the hunt and out Aunts went with Kopa and the others."

"And Uncle Malika and Daddy had to go tend to an emergency," Kiara said. "So we left. Who needs adults around anyways?"

"Yeah," Kion chimed in. "All they do is suck all the fun out of things." Kovu and Miwa nodded but said nothing as they noticed they were reaching the river that was on the border.

"We're here," Kovu said, his voice coming out soft.

"Yep," Miwa said, her voice also coming out soft. "We sure are." The pale coated cub looked up and saw that the sun was almost at its highest point. "Hey lets check out those hatchlings," she said, walking over towards the edge where she knew Zira and her allies would be waiting. Kion and Kiara began to follow their friend but before they could suddenly Kovu shouted, "Stop! Don't go over there!"

"Why not?" Kion asked, looking at his friend with confusion.

"Because...because," Kovu stammered.

"Uongo what's wrong?" Kiara asked.

"My name isn't Uongo," Kovu said. By now Miwa had joined her cousin and she was staring at him with wide blue eyes.

"What do you mean your name isn't Uongo?" Kiara asked, the confusion clear in her voice.

"My name is Kovu," Kovu confessed. "And Miwa here isn't my sister. She's my cousin. We've been lying to you."

"B...but why..." Kion began. But the golden Prince didn't get a chance to finish when they heard the sounds of growling. Kovu and Miwa gasped and their eyes went wide as they recognized the growls.

"Run guys!" Kovu shouted, turning to face Kiara and Kion. "Its a trap! Run!" Kiara and Kion gasped and began to run. But they didn't get far. Shenzi jumped in front of the two cubs along with Janja, Cheezi, Chunga and Ed. Kion and Kiara turned to run in the other direction only to see Zira blocking their path along with Mchanga and two other lionesses from her Pride. Tojo and Vumbi were watching from the shadows, neither one of them wanting to participate.

"Going somewhere?" Zira hissed, advancing on the terrified cubs. "I don't think so!" With that Zira raised her paw and hit Kiara and Kion hard in their faces, sending them sprawling across the ground.

"You brats are going to die a very slow and painful death," Zira growled, hitting the helpless cubs once again. They went flying once again and landed right in front of Shenzi, who glared down at them.

"Time to give Simba some serious payback," the Alpha Female growled as she to hit the six month old cubs.

"Stop!" Kovu cried out, running over and getting between his friends and Shenzi.

"We won't let you kill them!" Miwa shouted as she ran beside her cousin.

"Kovu! What the Hell do you think you're doing?!" Zira snarled, running up to her eight month old son and hitting him. But Kovu was used to Zira's hits and he merely wiped the blood away from his mouth and spit at Zira.

"I'm not afraid of you anymore Mother," Kovu hissed. "And I'm doing the right thing for once."

"We won't let you kill our friends!" Miwa shouted.

"You miserable brat!" Zira roared, raising her paw to hit Miwa. "I'll teach you!"

"No you won't!" Tojo roared as he and Vumbi ran in front their daughter. "Touch my daughter and it'll be the last thing you'll ever do Zira!"

"How dare you?!" Zira thundered, hitting her brother across the face. But Tojo wasn't phased by his sister's hit at all and he glared at her.

"I draw the line when it comes to my daughter," Tojo growled. "I told you this a long time ago Zira. I will kill you before I let you hurt my daughter!" Zira growled and was about to speak when suddenly Tojo let out a cry of pain as Janja, Chunga, and Cheezi jumped on his, taking the pale coated lion to the ground.

"Tojo!" Vumbi cried out, her brown eyes wide.

"Daddy!" Miwa cried out, her blue eyes wide. Vumbi went to help her mate but Zira quickly hit her, knocking her to the ground. Zira let out a roar and delivered another hit to Vumbi's head, knocking her out cold.

"Get the Hell out of my way!" Zira roared, hitting Miwa as hard as she could, sending her flying into Kovu, knocking both cubs to the ground. Zira wasted not time and struck the terrified Kion and Kiara. "And now you die!" Zira snarled.

"No!" Kovu cried out as he began to run towards his mother. But Miwa stopped him.

"She'll kill us if we try to interfere," the pale coated cub whispered.

"I don't care Miwa!" Kovu shouted. "I can't just watch while she kills Kiara! Uh and Kion too of course." Miwa opened her mouth to respond when suddenly loud roars echoed through the air. Kovu and Miwa's eyes went wide as they saw furry figures leap through the air, tackling Zira, Shenzi and their minions to the ground.

"What is happening right now?" Miwa whispered to Kovu.

"I...I honestly have no idea," Kovu stammered, his green eyes wide. Miwa wanted to say more but the words failed to come. So the pale coated cub sat beside her cousin and watched the unbelievable scene unfold in front of them.
