Episode 8 Up the Creek
Last time on Total Drama Island….
The competitors were forced to face they're deepest darkest fears. Not all of them succeeded, but others surprised the group and faced their fears head on. In a shocking twist, the Gophers owned the challenge, despite losing the first 5 challenges. And it was Buh Bye Annie. For the first time one team, The Killer Bass, find themselves as losers. "Bass, Gophers," Chris said to the teams minus Faith, "Today's challenge is a true summer camp experience. A canoe trip," He gestured to the canaos behind him. "You'll be using your cameos to travel across the lake" He adopted a creepier tone, "to Boney Island!" He returned to his normal voice. "Once you get there, you must portage your canoe to the other side of the island. Which is about a 2 two-hour hike through treacherous, dense, jungle! And in case you were wondering, that means walk with your canoe. When you arrive at the end of the island, you'll build a rescue fire that will be judged by me. First team to paddle home and return their canoes to the beach will be the winners of invisibility. Move campers Move!" The fifteen campers ran to the canoes. "Oh wait! One more thing I should mention. Legend has it, if you take anything off the island you will be cursed forever!"
"Big deal," Evan scoffed. "Curses don't exist."
"Now," the host declared, "Get in your canoes and let's have some fun!"
"I wouldn't call this fun," Christian said.
A flush sounded and Faith ran over to Chris. "Did I miss anything?" she asked him.
"Canoes," he said pointing to the others. She ran off to join them.

Nick - Chris told us to pick a paddle partner, which gave me a chance to ensure that Caroline will be eating out my hand for the rest of the competition.

Caroline was walking to the canoes when she caught eyes with Jake. He smiled and started walking towards her, but Nick got to her first. "Caroline," he said, "Shall the two most attractive people on the team partner up?'
"Um" Caroline started to object until she saw Jake being dragged off with Faith and Jasmine.
"Come on" Jasmine said to Jake, "We've got to talk strategy,"
"Sure i guess," Caroline replied half-heartedly.

Nick - I know that Brenda and Caroline don't get along, which is why I need to improve my relationship with her. Brenda really is more trouble than she's worth.
Caroline - I might have a small crush on Jake, but he's so inexperienced i don't think he would even know that I'm asking him out. I wouldn't do it while the competition is still happening obviously. But the thought of the 2 of us together….is nice.
Jasmine - The votes last time were fishy, I suspect there to be an alliance with some of my other teammates. So I'm thinking of starting an alliance with Jake and Faith then getting some others.

Allen tried to ask Erica if she wanted to partner with him, but she ignored him and walked away with Ramona. Molly patted him on the back and gestured to a nearby canoe.
Jonathan and Garry were both walking towards the canoe as they realized they were gonna be paired up by default. They looked annoyed at the outcome
Brenda looked a little lost. Evan saw her and waved with a smile and said, "Christian! Be my partner?" Evan looked a little confused by this.

Brenda - Evan sent me a love letter for some reason, so I'm definitely gonna stay clear of him for at least a little while.

"Hey man, need a canoe?" Lamar asked Evan as he had Caleb with him.
"Sure," he replied. They walked over to their canoe, passing Brenda and Christian. He sent a sad glance to Brenda that she didn't notice.
When they got to they're canoe, Lamar kicked it a couple times and asked, "Yo, do canoes flip over a lot?"
"I think that's kayaks." Evan said, "But we could hit some rough water."
"Water…can get rough?" he asked with wide eyes.
"Yeah but we should be ok," Lamar looked relieved, "I think," his eyes went wide again.

Lamar - When I was eight, my brothers dared me to jump off the high-dive. I was scared but I jumped, wasn't gonna let them call me chicken. I landed on my butt. Sounds better than a belly flop right? Wrong. My trunks went so far up my butt I had to go to the hospital to get'em removed. They invented a new word for what I did that day, The Wedgie Flop. I was scared of water for a while after that.

Faith, Jake, and Jasmine were trying to get their canoe in the water. Trying being the key word. "OKay" Jasmine said, "The third time's the charm. Everyone on three. One, two, three!" They finally managed to get the canoe into the water, but it drafted off.
"After it!" Faith called as they chased after it.
"Allen," Molly said, "Could use some help here"
"Sorry, I was just thinking about Erika." she rolled her eyes.

Despite the mishaps, all the canoes and campers were in the water. Chris cocked a pistol and said, "On your marks, get set, paddle!" He shot the gun in the air and the campers started paddling. A bird then fell down in front of him, dead. "That's gonna provoke some angry emails."

"So y-you w-want us in a-an alliance?" Jake asked.
"Yes I do," Jasmine replied.
"Why tho?" Faith asked.
"We need the numbers, i suspect there's an alliance already formed on our team"
"Fine b-by m-me," Jake said.

"There's something i have to tell you" Caroline told Nick
"You can tell me anything," Nick replied.
"I have a crush on Jake, and I need your advice."

Nick - Caroline liking Jake? I honestly never would've guessed that but this is some juicy information.

"Don't do anything, you don't wanna lose focus in this competition"
"You're right," Carole admitted.
"Trust me" he said, "You and him both will benefit from this decision"
"I can do that, i like Jake but the million is my top priority"
Elsewhere Caleb, Lamar and Evan were chatting. "Hey guys," Evan said to them. "How do you feel about Brenda?
"She's very hot," Caleb replied with a smirk.
"Where would you rank her out of the girls on the Island?"
"I don't know…" he paused. "Why do you care so much about her?"
"Curiosity?"
"Definitely top 3, maybe even number 1"
Brenda and Christian were also talking. "So…" Christian started awkwardly "Anything going on with you and Nick?"
"What? no me and Nick have a strict game alliance and that's it," Brenda answered.
"Alright, I was just curious cause you seemed to have a lot of tension together," Brenda's face got a little red after hearing that.
"You think I like Nick or something?" she said with anger. "He's a complete pig."
"Ok, i was just speculating no need to get angry"
"No more speculating then"
"Alright"
"What about you?" Brenda asked curiously. "I've seen the way you look at Faith"
"She's hot for sure, But that's it. I have no feelings for her.
"What about her and Nick?"
"I don't know, i really have no idea"
(Fade to Commercial)
Allen still looked upset. "Look," Molly told him. "You're going at it all wrong."
"Going at what?"
"The thing with Erica, You're doing it all wrong. She's nice and sweet so you need to be straight up with her instead of avoiding"
"I guess i can do that"
"Don't leave her buried alive again tho"
"Yeah, do you think that will work?"
"It's worth a shot"
"Got it, if you can get us back on the same boat on the way back i'll owe you one.
"Deal" Then she noticed the fog rolling in. "I don't think that was there before"
"I think you're right," he said looking at the giant skull that had been carved into the face of a cliff. All the campers that made it to Boney Island unscattered.
"And now we know why it's called Boney Island," Jonathan said. A strange animal call freightened the campers.
"Let's just g-get this over with," Erica said as she and Ramona took off.

(Woods)
Both teams ran through the forest. Gwen and Trent were scared by the skulls impaled on spikes throughout the forest. The bass pulled ahead of the Gophers but were stopped by a tree that almost fell on Caroline.
"I'm pretty sure I saw something," Evan whispered. Several giant beavers with large tusks jumped out of the shadows. "Mutant beavers!" he screamed as they ran off, the beavers giving chase.

Chris - A remnant of the Pleistocene era, the Wolly beaver is a day active rodent indeginious to Boney Island. Oh yeah and they're Meat-Eaters

A bear was scratching its back against a tree when the Bass were running past it. It looked confused until it saw the wolly beavers chasing them. It picked up a pair of glasses and put them on.
The Killer Bass were chased into a dead end, when the beavers gave up the chases and wandered off. "Hey," Lamar said, "They're leaving."
"Good l-luck to us!" Jake cheered.
"Great job dude," Christian deadpanned. "Now you jinxed us."
"W-what do y-ou mean?" Several large and angry geese popped out of their nests and snarled at them.
"That."

"So far today has not been my best day! Evan cried as they were being chased by the geese. They passed the bear with glasses again. This time, he took them off, glared at them, and broke them in half.
"Someone do something!" Faith yelled.
"I got it!" Christian said. "Stop and hide behind your canoe!"
"How will that help?" Brenda yelled.
"Do you have a better idea?"
"Just do it already!" Lamar said as Caleb, and Evan stopped and held up they're canoe. The others followed suit. The geese didn't stop and all flew into the hastily built wall, knocking themselves out.
"It worked!" Brenda said. The Bass ran past them.
"It did," Jasmine said. "But we still have a challenge to win."

The Screaming Gophers stood at a fork in the path. "Which way are we gonna go?" Garry asked.
"We should probably go left," Jonathan said.
"I think we should go right," Allen said.
"Well the right trail does look wider," Erica agreed. She and Allen shared a smile.
"Right it is!" Molly said.
"I can see the other team!" Lamar said.
"They're taking the path to the right," Brenda said.
"So let's go left."

(Bass)
The ten teens were walking through the woods when Lamar stopped and started sinking, "Whoa," he said, "I don't wanna freak anyone out but I'm shrinking!"

Confessional
Lamar - Right. How am I supposed to know what quicksand looks like? It looks just like sand.
Chris - -He can barely talk through laughter-. "Can you believe they fell for that? I set it up, but i didn't think anyone would walk into it." He laughs some more before saying "That's just great." He closes the confessional in laughter.
"Uh-oh." Lamar said as he sunk. Faith then got an idea.
"Hold on, I'll try to pull you out," She said. He grabbed her hand and she tried to pull, but wound up being pulled into the quicksand with Caroline. "Well i'm outta ideas, you got anything?"
Lamar facepalmed and yelled, "Somebody, Help us!"
Christian grabbed a vine and threw it to the two. "Grab the vine!" he told them. "I'll pull you out!"
"We'll help," Caroline, Jasmine and Nick said. The four managed to pull them out of the quicksand.
"We're alive!" Faith cheered.
"Thanks bro," Lamar told Christian, "You're a lifesaver."
Christian shrugged. "No problem man"
Faith hugged him. "My hero! That was amazing!"
"Anyone would've done it" Christian said, trying to get out of the hug.
"This is all very touching guys," Brenda deadpanned. "But we still have a challenge to complete."
(Gophers)
Just when things were looking up for the Gophers, disaster struck.
Allen tripped and fell. "Ah! My leg!" he cried holding the bruised limp.
"Allen" Erica cried in alarm as she rushed to his side.
"Erica, i think i'm gonna be fine"
Erica wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. "I know you are,"
"If you say so" he said dopily.

Allen - Hugging Erica was pretty great, she has very soft skin.
Jonathan - The bruise looked much worse than it actually was, however he still needed to stay off it for the rest of the day. Did I mention I was a medical student?
Garry - He just kept going, dude's got guts

(Beach)
Garry had taken Allen's place as the Gophers finished the trek on the beach. The injured teen on top of the canoe. When they got there, the Bass were already trying to build the fire. Jasmine trying with rocks, and Caroline by rubbing a stick. They looked at the Gophers who had already built theirs.
"How'd they do that so fast?" Caroline asked.
Garry smirked and held up a lighter.
"No rules against carrying lighters," Chris said from his helicopter. "Edge, Screaming Gophers."
As the bass were gathering firewood, Nick came across an idol hidden in the bushes.

Flashback
"If you take anything off the Island, you'll be cursed forever."

Nick smirked as he picked up the idol. He then threw it into Jasmine's canoe, He then walked over to where Faith was.
"Faith," Nick said. "I'm afraid i have some bad news concerning Jake"
"What? His stutter's fake?" she joked.
"No, he spoke with me about our next vote. He wants to vote you off."
"Then why did Jasmine ask me for an alliance?"
"To throw you off the trail, they told me everything."
"They?"
"Jasmine and Jake are in alliance with Caroline. Didn't he tell you?"
"Not about Caroline" she said with a scowl. "He did not"
"Well i must take my leave, we are in a challenge right now"

Allen sat by the campfire, forbidden from putting weight on his leg. "This sucks, he said"
Ramona turned to Erica and said, "Allen looks a little down. Why don't you keep him company, so he doesn't go crazy or something"
"You think I should?"
"Yes, now go" Erica sat down beside Allen and the two blushed. Ramona watched with a smile.

Ramona - Those 2 are so cute together.

"I don't think the fire's big enough," Jasmine said aloud.
"You heard the women, we need more wood! Guys" Lamar said "Come on, Let's go!"
Jake panicked and for some reason grabbed the canoe oars and tossed them into the fire. The team gasped and Brenda asked through gritted teeth, "Jake, how are we going to get back without the oars!"
"I think this should work," Faith Told her team while holding a strange orb with some twigs sticking out. "It's a firestarter made of tree sap and sand. You, uh, might want to stand back."
They all backed away as Faith tossed it into the fire. The resulting mushroom cloud forced Chris to fly the helicopter away. "We have our fire building winners!" The host declared. "Point for the Bass."
"What. Was that?" Christian asked.
"Oh that" Faith explained with wide eyes, "It was something my great grandmother taught me before she passed. I didn't think it'd work this well, or at all. The women was bit crazy"

The teams all walked back to they're canoe. Molly stopped and said, "Allen, since this canoe feels like it might break, You shouldn't ride in it with your hurt ankle since it would be dangerous. So I'll ride with Ramona and you can paddle back with Erica okay?" She didn't wait for a response before grabbing Ramoa and speeding off towards the canoe.
"How are we supposed to get back now?" Evan asked, supported by Brenda and Caroline.
"We could have one person push each canoe," Christian suggested.
"That might work?" Caleb said. "Lamar you up for it?"
"I'll do it, '' Lamar agreed "I have to."
Confessional
Lamar - The team was counting on me. I had to swim like a Killer Bass would and no weddgie flop was gonna get in my way.
"Go Lamar! Go!" Faith cheered as he pushed all three canoes to the island. Both teams were neck and neck as the paddles were rowing strong and Lamar was almost there.
"The Gophers are the winners!'
"You cost us the game!" Brenda accused Jake. "You are dead,"
"I-im S-sorry" was all he could muster to his teammates.

(Killer Bass)
A wolf howled at the moon as Chris began the ceremony. "And now, for the always anxiety-inducing marshmallow ceremony. When i call your name, come and get a marshmallow. Evan." he got up and grabbed it.
"Lamar"
"Faith" she looked a little surprised.
"Christian"
"Nick"
"Caroline"
"Caleb"
"Jasmine"
"One last marshmallow, Jake and Brenda looked on. The person who doesn't get this marshmallow, will walk the dock of shame, and take a ride on the boat of losers. "Who's it gonna be?"
"Brenda"
Jake signed and stood up. "I-it was f-fun to play w-with you" he walked off to the docks.
"Jake, wait!" Caroline ran after him.

"Jake!" the cry caught his attention.
"C-Caroline?" he asked.
"I wanted to say goodbye," she explained, "I'm going to miss you"
"M-me too" he replied. She leaned in towards him and she kissed him on the mouth.

Author's Note : I hope you liked Jake's exit, I had fun writing it. He was a good character but I always intended him to leave around here.
