5 Days Before the Party
"...and that's when I said 'oh yeah well bring it on!', then BAM beat him right on the spot." Jo was telling Brick what she did the other day when some guy made fun of her. In which she beat him up to teach him a lesson. "Bet he didn't see that coming am I right?"
Brick on the other hand wasn't listening at all. Not to be rude, but cause of the nightmares again he had the previous night. He didn't feel like his usual self today. He barely talked since Jo came by to hangout at the park.
"Hey Brickhead!" Jo snapped.
Brick jolted as Jo called out to him. Which caused him to take a small leap back.
"Were you even listening?" The jock asked as she raised an eyebrow.
"Uh, yeah! Of course I was wasn't distracted or anything..!" He lied while chuckling nervously.
"Okay you're definitely lying there, is it the nightmares again?" Jo said stating the obvious.
"Is it obvious..?" He admited rubbing his eyes.
"By the look on your face it does." She pointed out on the black marks under his eyes.
"Just wished they would stop..." He added in a scared yet sad tone. Then he pulled out an invitation. "Also here's an invite for my birthday..."
"You finally decided where you're hosting it?" The jocket took it and look inside it.
"Sam suggested it, I decided it wouldn't be that bad, just as long as my parents are with me." He said. "At Fredbear's."
"Wait, you mean that new diner with those two robots?" Jo raised an eyebrow. "That children's place?"
He nodded back.
"Yeah, I don't know if it's my kind of place..." Jo wasn't sure of going to a children's entertainment place.
"There will be free Pizza and cake." He added to at least convince her.
Course Jo couldn't say no to that. "Fine, i'm in. Just as long I get a double slice of Cake if I beat ya in arm wrestling."
He chuckled as they both did a fist bump. "It's a deal."
Meanwhile at the football course. Nora is sitting at the bench with Anne-Maria. Lightning is also with them as he had just finished practicing football. She gave them the party invitations.
"Brick's party? Listen girl, your great and all, but I don't think havin' a party at a kid's place would be my kind of thing." Anne-Maria said unsure, sure she likes parties but not kid party.
"Lightning agrees, where's the fun in it." Lightning said nodding his head.
"Look, I know it's not what you'd expect from it, but is it wrong to not go to a party. Besides there will be games and food there, other than Pizza and Cake." Nora said.
"Well, ya did make a point there." Anne-Maria added as looked at her pleading look. "Fine, i'll go, I did owe ya one fer savin' me from Chris' plant monster."
"Lightning will only go unless there's meat." Lightning still denies to go.
"I guess I can ask my Tío to make hot-dogs then." She suggested, the latter then shook her hand rapidly.
"You got yourself a deal." The athlete added.
"Great..." She winced upon now she has to tell her uncle to make plenty of hot-dogs.
After they gave their invitations to their friends (except for Scott), Nora and Brick walked together to Nora's Aunt and Uncle's house. Since she lives in Wisconsin. She had decided to spend the Summer in Canada, so that she can be close to Brick. Since they started their long distance relationship shortly after their event in TDROTI. Also as Brick went to fashion School shortly after, they keeped in touch through phone calls and letters. It was hard for the both of them, for Nora at least, which resulted a mental breakdown cause of the times she misses him. She was able to cope with drawing and to gain contact with the others as well for the sake of her mental health.
"Now I have to do dozens of hot-dogs so that Lightning can come..." Nora said deepanded.
"Heh, did you really had to say that?" Brick find it a bit funny about what she said.
"You know that I had to for your party sake." She said.
"I really didn't mind if one person didn't show up." He said.
"I know, I just didn't want your birthday to be a no show, ya know?" She held his hand with sincere.
He smiled back as he also griped her hand.
Shortly after they both went their seperate ways, Brick walked home on his own. Yet he still felt tried after all that. Once he gets home, he's gonna go straight to bed till diner. The day was nice the sun was warm enough for a good weather. He eventualy reached home, he let out a sigh of relief. Then without expecting something came out from the bushes and jumpscared him.
Brick let out a girlish scream as he jumped back a bit. It appeared as if his eyes where about to come out of their sockets.
Scott laughed so hard in a mean way. He did it again with the foxy mask.
"Not funny Scott..." Brick said as he studered shaking in terror. He seems as be was about to cry. But he still galred at the farm boy.
"Aww why? Can't handle another scare? What are you gonna do? Ask your Mom for another nightlight?" Scott mocked him.
"I mean it Scott, cut it out..." Brick's fears where replaced with anger.
Scott smirked as he continued. "What? Can't handle a joke? Man, you're such a crybaby sometimes... Wonder why Nora would date a wimp than a real man..?" He finished with a not so caring look. He was then abruptly shoved to the ground which had taken him back. He looked up with a now perplexed yet petrified expression.
Brick was furious. So much that he grabed Scott by the collar and gave him a hard cold glare. "Now listen to me there Scott, don't you ever, and I mean ever dare talk bad about my girlfriend like that! I tell you this one more time that you leave me my girlfriend and my friends alone or you will have it with me, you hear?!"
Scott looked terrified by his warning that he rapidly nodded his head. "Okay! Okay! But don't you think that you will get away with this!" Once he was let go he ran off without looking back afterwards.
Brick keep an eye on him as he was cowardly running away. Once he was out of sight he took a bit of time to relax, he just hoped that none of the neighbors saw that, cause that would be the least of his worries. He marched into his house, quickly greeted his parents before going into his room and lied himself down on his bed. All that anger must have drain all his energy. He set up the covers and hoped to get some rest till his Mom calls down for diner.
Tomorrow is another day...
