*In present timeline*
The 'arrive as close to as possible' button got them next to an abandoned factory.
"Gosh..." Marvin said, looking up at it. "I deduce that no one's been near here in at least a decade."
"Zat tends to be what abandoned, it means, non?" Pepe said, snarkily.
Marvin glared at his older brother and was about to deliver a witty comeback, when Bugs flapped a hand at him. "Leave it, guys. C'mon, we need ta look for Sylvester and Tweety."
Marvin and Pepe glared at each other, but another yell from Bugs got them both moving again. After a bit of searching and wondering about they saw a familiar looking van.
"Oh, look!" Penelope exclaimed, in delight. "It's the Mystery Machine!" She ran over and ran her hands over the flowers. "Oh, to think I'm really touching the mystery machine! I can't wait to tell Mellissa!"
"Hey..." Bugs's eyes lit up and he ambled over. "If de Mystery's Machines here dat mean the Scooby Gang can't be that far behind. Les look for 'em, maybe they can help us track de oithers down. After all, mysteries is what dey do best. C'mon, les look for 'em."
And look for 'em they did. They looked so well that eventually they found them, standing in the 'unmasking' position the Scooby Gang always assumed at the end of the every episode. Bugs went forward to ask for there assistance but Penelope grabbed his arm and hissed. "What do you think you're doing!? Look-" She indicated towards the gang. "They're just about to unmask! It's a key part of their episodes, they won't help us until they've finished anyway, we may as well stay and watch."
Bugs had enough sense to know when he was beaton and so the 4 toons pulled up deckchairs to watch. Really, Bugs thought, it was nice to see the simple monsters again, as opposed to the likes of Mr E. This one they were about to unmask was a good example. It was a zombie. Nice an' simple like. The make-up was very good as well. Clearly someone used to working in the theatre.
"We knew it had to be someone connected with the theatre." Fred began, if he was nervous about the audience he wasn't showing it. "On account of the fact the make-up is brilliant."
Check, Bugs thought.
"So that narrowed it down to either Mr Tashlin or Mr Smyth" Velma carried on, pointing at the men. "Both of who are..." Velma trailed off, a frown appearing on her face. "...Standing in front of me." There was an awkward pause, then Scooby took the intuitive and pulled the mask of off the zombie.
Tweety's head popped through, causing Bugs to sit straight up in his chair. That he was not expecting. Tears sprung to his eyes as he thought '5 months in Coolsville and poor, innocent Tweety's turned into a hardened criminal.'
He wasn't the only one taken aback by this new development, the Scooby Gang were looking like they didn't know what to make of it either. Then - with a over-dramatic gasp - Sly's head popped up [Tweety having been standing on top of him] and he yowled. "Sufferin' Succotash, it's HOT in there!"
"Tweety, Sly!" Bugs - unable to contain himself anymore - ran over and hugged them.
"Bugs, we thought you wewe dead!" Tweety said, in amazement.
Bugs laughed and indicated himself. "Eh...it takes more dan dat to keep ME down, Doc! On the flip side though..." He lowered his voice, looked round surreptitiously and whispered. "Oi'll fill ya both in on the ship."
"Wow, it's Bugs Bunny!" Fred exclaimed, excitedly.
Bugs grinned and blushed lightly. "Eh...me adorin' public. Eh...what's up, Doc?"
Fred's smile threatened to split his face. "He said it, he said it - did you hear him?" He shook Shaggy's shoulder. "He said it!"
"Like, I heard him, Freddie." Shaggy said. "Like, what are you four doing here?"
"Eh...we was lookin' for Tweety and Sly, but there's no need now, we've found 'em. Thanks anyway." The six toons went to leave at the same time Daphne asked.
"Oh, did you find them?"
*Beat*
"Hold on a minute." Penelope took a few steps closer to the Scooby Gang. "What do you mean, 'did we find them?'. They're here!"
The Gang looked confused. Scooby dressed himself up as Sherlock Holmes, complete with magnifying glass and started prowling the grounds.
"Like...where?" Shaggy asked.
Bugs spluttered and stammered. Meanwhile Marvin, tiering of this mundane conversation, snapped.
"Oh for the love of- isn't it obvious that Rhythm has made it so that the characters in the universes our siblings have been sent to see what they're expecting to see." Marvin looked at his siblings blank expressions. "Observe. Miss Dinkley. When you look at me what do you see?"
"Marvin The Martian."
"That is correct. Now, when you look at these two-" Marvin indicated Sly and Tweety. "What do you see?"
"Well..." Velma said, in the sort of tone that indicated she thought it was a trick question. "...I see two humans-"
"WHAT!?" Sly howled.
Marvin shushed him and politely asked Velma to continue.
"One is tall and with black hair and green eyes. The other is short with blonde hair and blue eyes."
"And what are they wearing?" Marvin asked.
"An' careful with the replies." Sylvester said, sharply. "There may be kids readin'."
The replies were simple and enough to establish beyond doubt that Sly and Tweety had had there designs shifted so they matched the Scooby-Doo world.
"Okay, okay, so we look like we're meant to be here, so what? Can we get back, pleasth?" Sly asked, impatiently, one foot already inside the spaceship.
"Yeah, let's go." Tweety added his support. "Puddy been missing his family long enough as it is."
So the six toons said goodbye to the rather confused-looking Scooby Gang and high-tailed it back home.
"This is all interesting information we're gathering." Marvin said, scribbling in an notebook that was roughly the size of his head. "I'm sure it'll come in useful at some point-"
Marvin carried on talking but Bugs wasn't paying much attention, instead observing Sly and Tweety. Tweety was eagerly telling Pepe and Penelope about there adventures in Coolsville while, just behind him, Sly tapped his foot impatiently, clearly just wanting to get home.
Bugs nudged Marvin and indicated the cat. Understanding immediately Marvin carefully placed the notebook away before flying the space ship back to WBC.
