Clay slowly started to stir, memories of the night before and his fight with Jason, still too fresh in his memory. Yawning tiredly Clay tried to come up with a way to avoid facing his team leader, or the rest of Bravo for that matter. Thinking about it Clay decided to just go back to sleep. Sure his brothers had probably become worried and angry when he just left, and he should really get back. Jason wasn't gonna be happy with Clay being out of sight. But then again what was Bravo one gonna do, hit him again.
Clay snorted and turned around to lay on his other side, nuzzling his head into the soft pillow. Only as he did so, two things registered in his mind.
Number one. Where was Brock? It was Brock's hospital bed, yet there was no Brock Reynolds in it.
And number two. The person sitting in one of the plastic chairs beside the bed.
Clay quickly sat up. Muscles tense.
"Morning." Bravo two said calmly, without anger or irritation.
Clay slowly eased up a little. At least there now was two people on the world not mad at him.
Stretching his back, Clay looked around the room.
"Where's Brock?" He asked, while rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"With doc."
"Oh." Clay slumped down, into the pillows.
"You okay." Ray asked worry badly hidden in his voice.
"Kind of," Clay rubbed his eyes again. "Honestly I'm not sure."
Ray nodded.
"We were worried about you." He said. "One moment you where there, the next we couldn't find you anywhere."
Clay looked apologetic down at his hands. "I'm sorry. I... I just needed to get out of there."
"I understand Kid. Just wished you'd let us know where you where."
"Sorry."
Ray smiled softly at Clay.
They sat in silence for awhile, before Ray started to speak again.
"You ready to head back to barracks?" Ray asked nodding his head towards the door.
"Think I stay here. Wait for Brock, if it's all the same to you."
"You have to face Jason at some point. You can't stay here forever."
"I could try. Sure the nurses wouldn't mind."
"C'mon Spenser you have to go back sooner or later."
"Later sounds good."
Sighing, Ray leaned forward. Supporting his elbows on his knees.
"Look Kid, what Jason did. It isn't alright, I know that. But you need to know it wasn't his intention to slap you. He just lost his temper. And he is really sorry about that."
"And?" Clay crossed his arms defensively."
"And he's heartbroken over it."
"Yeah sure. He's heartbroken, that makes it all okay." Clay said sarcastically.
"I know you don't believe it, but he really is sorry. He didn't mean it. Any of it. And he certainly didn't intend to hit you."
"Didn't intend to. Like that's an excuse, Ray."
"It's not and I know it doesn't change anything of what happened-"
"You're right it doesn't change anything." Clay interrupted.
"But you can't stay mad at him forever. You two has to talk about it at some point, why not today."
"No."
"Spenser-"
"No Ray. Just no." Clay said angrily.
Holding up his hands in surrender, Ray leaned back in his seat.
"Fine."
They say in silence for a while. Clay staring vigorous at his hands, Ray patiently observing him. After some time his patience paid off, and Clay started to talk. Eyes never leaving his hands, as they played with a string of the covers.
"It hurt Ray. More than if he'd punched me in the stomach or kicked me in the groin. It would have been less humiliating."
"I understand."
"No Ray, I don't think you do. It really hurts. How could he even insinuate that I got Brock hurt on purpose. I would never do something like that. And definitely not to Brock. Of all people. You guys are all I have, I would never do something to hurt any of you." Clay said, voice thick with emotional distress.
"We realize that. So does Jason he was just really worried about Brock, about both of you. He knows you would never do anything to hurt any of us."
Clay looked up at his older brother. Eyes most of all reminding Bravo two, of a kicked puppy.
"Promise?" Clay asked in a small voice. His uncertainty clear as day.
"Promise." Ray softly assured his team's rookie.
Clay warily nodded, as he thought things through.
"We can go back now if you want." He finally said.
So next up Jason and Clay facing each other and talking things through.
To the guest who wrote this comment *This is great I would love to see Clay becoming afraid of Jason and flinching away when he raises his hand and stuff like that* I love that idea. I usually love fic's like that in the fandoms I read. But I'm not gonna use it in this one, cause I already have the rest planned out (just need to write it) and except for some of the conversation, but if you don't mind I am definitely gonna use it, in a new fic later on. Maybe one where Jason does something far worse to Clay. (by accident of course;)) Thanks, I love this idea.
So everybody (if anybody actually still reads this story) I know I just said I have it all planned out and I have, however if you guys have any inputs for the conversation between Jason and Clay (or Jason and the rest of Bravo) please let me know. Talk isn't my strongest side. Nor does it seem to be when it comes to describing Ray and how he acts.
Now I'm gonna get some sleep and leave the toe cringing over this chapter to you guys. Bye :)
Edit: by the way if anyone knows a beta writer, who beta for SEAL team fic's, then please let me know. I desperately need one.
