"It doesn't look like there's anything wrong with you…" the doctor said, quietly.
Subaru, Kenichi, and Naoko had gone to the clinic the second they opened, but the elderly doctor who examined Subaru was very perplexed. The boy'd been examined all day, with his watch under careful observation, but whatever it was, it wasn't made of any material known to man. At least, not this man.
Subaru's parents were understandably worried, while Subaru himself was in a daze, barely processing what was happening around him.
"Tell me again how this happened?" the doctor requested.
Kenichi spoke up. "Well, last night, Subaru and I were walking back from the convenience store, talking. Then, all of a sudden, we heard what sounds like electricity. Obviously confused, we looked around. Then, green lightning appeared out of nowhere, and a pod emerged from it in a ditch right next to us. We were going to walk away, but Subaru bent down to look at it, and he lost his balance. When he got close to the pod, it opened up. Subaru tried to stand up, but the second he moved his hand closer to the open pod, that watch thing leapt out and latched on to his wrist." Kenichi explained, anxiety evident in his voice.
"I...see…" the doctor said. He turned to the boy in question. "And how are you feeling, Subaru?"
"..." Subaru remained silent, his gaze cast down.
"Subaru?" the doctor called again, to no avail.
"Subaru!" his father grabbed his shoulders and shook him. Subaru gasped, his eyes suddenly went wide and his breathing became faster.
"Where am I?" he asked, frantically looking around. "Who…?" His gaze fell upon his parents, whose own faces were contorted with worry on them. Subaru quickly recalled the events from the previous night and slowly looked down at his wrist. The black and gray watch-like contraption with white tubes on it and a green hourglass faceplate was still on his wrist, a green light vaguely illuminating from it.
"Oh yeah…" His gaze dulled. Looking up at the doctor, he replied,
"I feel fine. Just can't get the watch off," he said, his voice lacking any enthusiasm.
"...I see…Well in any case, I haven't the slightest clue as to what this is or what it's made of," the doctor said, indicating to the watch."Have you tried getting it off at all?"
"Well," Subaru began, "I tried pulling it off the second I got home. That didn't work, so Dad tried to get some tools, but they all broke. The way it moved-or rather, the lack thereof-made it seem like the watch is attached to my wrist. Aside from that, we haven't touched it."
"Uh-huh, and the first thing you did after that was come here?"
"Yes."
"Alright...I'm not quite sure what to do here," he said, much to the dismay of the Natsukis, "but I noticed a green button on one side. Maybe you could try pressing that?" he suggested.
"Huh, might as well give it a shot." Subaru had a bit more color on his face as he pressed the green button on the side facing him. Alas, instead of unlatching the device, the front part just extended upward. The hourglass symbol shifted into a diamond shape, and a strange silhouette was displayed.
"Huh…" Subaru muttered, mystified by the glow around the top part that seemed to be calling to him. Ignoring the worried looks he was getting, he slowly pressed the faceplate back down.
*BWOOSH*
A green light enveloped the doctor's office.
Azmuth woke up with a groan. The second he made a noise, a voice called out to him.
"Ah, the First Thinker is awake! If we were less scientific, I'd give thanks to some archaic deity!"
Azmuth looked up to see another galvan in a medical worker's uniform. Considering that he was laying down, he was obviously in the recovery center, but anyone could've figured that out. Hardly worthy as a deduction from the First Thinker. He leaned up with a lot of effort.
"Did-did Vilgax-" He could barely muster up those words, so the doctor interrupted him.
"You sent Vilgax to the Null Void after the last of our defense units were…" He trailed off, unable to finish the sentence. Azmuth didn't need his massive intellect to figure out what happened. Galvan Prime was probably on its last legs after Vilgax's invasion.
"And the Omnitrix?"
"You sent it away before Vilgax got there, but we've not yet recalled it. You've also been out for several hours and have suffered minor brain trauma. You ought to rest before you do anything else," he suggested. But Azmuth just started getting out of the bed.
"Before anything else, I must ascertain the safety of the Omnitrix. It is worth more than my immediate recovery."
The doctor opened his mouth to speak, but he quickly closed it. The Galvan weren't heartless, but they were considered one of the more...pragmatic species in the universe, and they knew the capabilities of the Omnitrix. Not only was it important to retrieve it so that Vilgax couldn't get it, but it also had the ability to restore Galvan Prime. It's safety was paramount.
"Very well then. I'll help walk you back to your office." With that, the two set off, Azmuth leaning on the doctor for support.
A green flash of light blinded the room. The trio of adults had to shield their eyes before slowly opening them...but what they saw was…
"Huh?...AAGH!" an unknown voice said. "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ME?!"
Sitting where Subaru was just a moment ago, instead of their son, was some...terrifying rock monster with pink crystals for hands and crystal shards protruding around its body, the most noticeable being on the top of its head. The being only had one green eye, and if they weren't so shocked, they might have noticed the top part of the watch on the right side of the creature's chest, just with the hourglass now gray. But they couldn't possibly be expected to be in a calm state of mind right now.
"Pant, pant...Mom, Dad, what the hell happened to me?" It called out to Naoko and Kenichi, its one eye seeming scared and confused.
Both Natsukis just looked at the creature, coming to a hesitant realization.
"...Subaru?" Kenichi called out, his voice barely a whisper. Beside him, the doctor had fainted from shock and was on the floor.
"Yes, it's me!" Subaru screamed. "What the hell just happened?!"
Both parents just looked at each other, then back to Subaru. They hadn't the foggiest clue what to say, but Naoko decided to break the silence.
"Subaru, I can't really say that I understand what's going on-I can't say that about a lot of things, you know-but it appears that watch transformed you into an alien.
"..." Both "Subaru" and Kenichi were stunned. Upon further reflection, however, they realized that she probably had at least some logic in her argument, and decided to agree with it.
"Okaaay," Subaru said. "Any idea on how I can change back?" he asked.
Naoko inspected his rock body with a curious gaze, before noticing the symbol on the right part of his chest.
"There!" she exclaimed, pointing at it. "If you transformed from pushing the faceplate down, you might be able to do it again."
Subaru nodded, and moved his crystal hands to his chest. Tenderly, he pressed a finger against the hourglass symbol.
*BWOOSH*
Another green light illuminated throughout the office. When it was gone, the rock alien creature thing was replaced by a bewildered Subaru, with the watch still on his wrist.
"..." No one dared say a word...
"WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!?"
...Except for Subaru.
Azmuth and the doctor had made their way to his office. The doctor then waited outside, not being classified to see the information Azmuth had in his files. Azmuth quickly reactivated his main computing device, where he immediately began looking for the Omnitrix's frequency. Thankfully, he found it.
"...Good…" he muttered, barely able to see straight. Upon confirming that it was still online, he sent a remote signal, telling the A.I. in the device to teleport itself back to Galvan Prime. Unfortunately, in his dazed state, he failed to notice a message that had popped up.
"Odd...Did the system get damaged or is there just a delay?" Azmuth mused out loud, reimputting the transportation sequence. Had he been more attentive and read the message, he would've seen the warning that the Omnitrix was bonding to the mind of another lifeform, and that interrupting that process with separate instructions was not advised. But he didn't, and that was a mistake that would cost him...
"...So, this device, that we're pretty sure came from aliens, has the ability to turn whoever wears it into aliens...Is that the theory we're going with?" Subaru asked both his parents, who were proposing their own theories regarding the origin of the strange device on his wrist.
They both nodded.
"Well...then...I guess, when considering all the light novels I've read, it isn't too far-fetched," Subaru said aloud, still trying to wrap his head around the scenario that he found himself in.
…..
But just as they were getting their minds around this theory-
*CRACKLE*
"GAH!" Subaru screamed as the watch was emitting green electricity.
"SUBARU!" his father called. Subaru looked up and saw his father reaching out to him, but he didn't know what to do. If he tried to grab his father's hand, the electricity might strike his parents. But before he could make a decision, a green light enveloped him.
…..
When it died down, Kenichi and Naoko could only stare at the blank space where Subaru just was, shock and despair seared across their faces. On the ground beside them, the doctor was convulsing, probably in the middle of a fear-induced seizure.
Back on Galvan Prime, Azmuth was forced out of his daze by an alarm coming from his computer.
"ALERT! ALERT!" the automated voice called out. "OMNITRIX A.I. RENDERED UNRESPONSIVE DUE TO PARALLEL LIFEFORM BRAIN WAVES INTERFERING!"
"NO!" Azmuth cried out, finally noticing that the Omnitrix's signals were indicating that it had bonded to something.
The doctor had rushed back into the room upon hearing Azmuth cry out, but Azmuth could only faint into his arms, exhaustion and dread forcing his consciousness to fade.
Elsewhere, in a place that neither group could access at the moment, there was a manor. The manor was surrounded by luscious land. If one looked around, they'd see an old man with a ponytail tending to the garden. Inside, a woman with green hair dressed in what could only be described as a military uniform was sitting at a desk, doing paperwork. As she was working, a voice rang out from behind the door.
"Crusch-sama!" It was a feminine voice that called to her.
"Yes, Felix? What is it?" the woman known as Crusch responded to the voice.
The door opened, and there stood what looked like a girl in a white and blue dress. But her most surprising features were her tail and the feline ears on her hair.
"I was wondering if nyou wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather outside, nya!" the person known as Felix answered Crusch.
Crusch looked at the papers stacked on her desk, then back at Felix.
"...Sure. That sounds fine." She got up and walked over to her. They walked through the halls, conversing.
"So, how goes the preparations?" Felix asked as they made their way outside.
Crusch responded, "The soldiers, weapons, and equipment are all accounted for. The only thing left is to find the-" She was cut off by the strange sound of something crackling. Noticing the butler looking at them, she signaled for him to join them. The three of them looked around before Felix broke the tension.
"There!" she said, pointing. Turning to look, the three could see green lighting seemingly forming out of nowhere in midair. But just as soon as it formed, a flash of green blinded them. When it dissipated, the lightning was gone, and in its place was someone with black hair and strange clothes, lying face-down on the ground.
"He doesn't look so good..." Felix muttered.
"Mmhm," Crusch nodded. "Felix, Wilhelm take that person inside and tend to them. They may very well have damaged their gate from attempting a very draining spell, and I will not let someone die in my domain!"
"Yes, Crusch-sama!" they both responded before walking over to the strange boy that had just appeared out of nowhere and lifting him up.
As they moved him into the manor, Crusch Karsten could only think one thing:
'Just who is this boy, and how did he get into my domain so easily? He looks like no magician I've ever heard of...Could he be a student under L. Mathers or some other person? Does he have a title? And most importantly...why has he come here?'
But, for better or for worse, the boy would not be able to provide her with the answers she expected...Instead, he would give her answers that would expand her very limited horizons.
And maybe...he'd help her achieve everything she ever wanted.
A.N. And now Subaru Natsuki has been whisked away to another world. How will he adapt to not just a new world but to the strange alien device on his wrist? Find out next time! And thank you for reading!
(P.S. Subaru turned into Chromastone, but I'll be renaming all the aliens he gets. Unfortunately, Subaru and I have terrible naming sense, so the names won't be very good in all probability).
Edit: Chapter 2 has been revised.
