Hello again my readers, it's the cheese that climbs trees with ease. We are now moving into the final matches of the Running Man Championship! Things would start to look exciting… but for the extremely wrong reasons. It's time for the release of the DV8 in this chapter of Total Drama: Running Time!
Aztec 13: Clairvoyance means seeing things that the naked eye can't. It's not strictly for human emotions.
Warning: At this point, DV8 will have two different terms. The reason will be found in this chapter.
We see Scarlett's squad in her laboratory. They were sitting around, waiting for the next broadcast.
"So, the hair is now sent for a DNA test. Now we can see what the DV8 is while we wait." Scarlett announces.
"Yeah, let's hope they can withstand it. We need all of the help we can to find the others." Sky says.
"I really hope they're safe." Noah hopes.
Then one of the laboratory computers makes a notification sound.
"Okay, one of the files of the Zeta Project seems to be decrypted." Scarlett states.
"Well then, we're still waiting for the broadcast. Might as well look at the files." Sanders says.
They walk up to the computer and Scarlett begins to search for the first decrypted file. But what they saw was way less than pleasant.
"Wait, what? What?!" Scarlett became utterly stumped by the information.
"What the heck?!" Izzy exclaimed.
"Um, guys, am I reading this correctly?" Eva asked, slightly concerned.
"Oh no…" Sky gasped.
"No, nononono. This is really bad." Zoey states.
"This is worse than my own possession!" Scott yelled.
"This can't be happening." Noah said, slightly shedding tears.
We then see the Running Men in the stadium. They seem pretty excited, but not for long.
"Okay, we're here. What's the reason the finals are so special?" Duncan asked, slightly impatient.
"Yeah, can we just get on it?" Heather said, also impatient.
A robot then appears in front of the Running Men.
"Congratulations to our Running Men for reaching the finals!" The robot congratulates them. "This will be the most special event in the entire game! Know that at this point, you can't win any more Spirits."
"Aw man." Owen didn't like the sound of that.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you bud." Duncan said.
"Now that we have reached the finals of the 100th Running Man Championship, we are proud to announce a special event on this momentous occasion." The robot announces an unexpected special event.
"Special event?" Kitty was kinda confused.
"Now it's time to introduce a new group into the fray!" The robot then introduces a new group.
On the other side of the colosseum, 8 portals appear. Then 8 figures appear from the portals. Half of the figures look male and the other half looks female. They seem to be wearing black clothes with glowing red outlines. They were also wearing black hoods and ceramic masks so their facial features were hidden.
"This is the DV8!" The robot announces the new group.
"What the?!" Kitty was surprised by the appearances.
"Whoa! They look menacing!" MacArthur remarked at their looks.
"The finals will have the Running Men facing off against the DV8! The clash of the century!" The robot continued.
"Wait! We have to fight them?!" Mike exclaimed.
The stadium lights up to manifest into a stadium with multiple floating platforms and a big platform flying above the stadium. Similar to the third stage of the opening game.
-Arena Name: The Platform Arena-
Portals appear directly below the Running Men.
"Whoaa!" They yell.
They end up in a circular room with a platform in the middle. They crash onto the floor.
"Oogh! Ow!" Duncan exclaimed.
"Yup! That's my spine I taste!" MacArthur exclaimed.
"Okay, ew." Heather remarked.
The Running Men get up. A holographic screen appears before them.
"The game is called Battle for the Highgrounds!" The robot announces the game.
"The goal of this game is to take control of the R Point, the highest point in the center of the game stage." The female voice explains the game. "One by one, a member from each team will enter the arena every 5 minutes in order. They must push the opposing team and take over the R Point. When the time runs out, the team with the most players on the R Point wins the game."
"Oh, so it's like good ole' King of the Hill." Duncan states in seeing the similarities.
"But we're against an unknown opponent, with who knows what power?!" Shawn yelled out.
"So, we've gotta be smart in the order of who goes into the ring." Heather begins thinking of the plan.
"It's Running Time!" The robot announces the beginning of the match.
"So, any plans?" Carrie asked.
"Hmm, I think Heather should go first." Kitty states.
"What?! Why me?!" Heather was confused.
"You're smart. And you can run very fast. You can become a scout and try and think of a strategy to win." Kitty points out.
"Good point." Heather agrees.
"Good luck!" Duncan says platform flies out of the room.
We then see Heather appearing in the stadium.
"The first batch of players have arrived. Heather and DV8!" The robot announces.
"Okay, guess I gotta take control of the R Point." Heather says.
Heather then makes her way up to the R Point. As she gets up, she sees DV8 jumping up as well.
"Hmm, I guess DV8 is the name of the team and one of the members." Heather mutters to herself.
The two reach the R Point, and Heather can get a good description of her enemy. They have a figure of a young male with normal build. They were holding anl blacm energy rifle with red outlines, similar to the outfits of the DV8.
"Okay, let's do this." Heather readied herself.
Heather then inserts her Spirit into her watch.
-Spirit of Energy-
DV8 began firing a barrage of bullets at Heather, which she dodged with ease. Heather charges at them with her staff and makes a direct hit, causing them to fall back.
"Okay, so, looks like he's the weakest from the group. Now I'm worried about the other 7." Heather was thinking of new strategies.
Heather goes for another swing, but DV8 blocks it with the rifle. DV8 then swings the rifle at Heather, causing her to jump back.
"Well, using a rifle as a melee. Unexpected, but still." Heather states.
Heather then throws a couple more staff swings at DV8, some of which land. But as Heather went for another swing, DV8 knocked the staff out of the air with a kick.
"Ah crap!" Heather exclaimed.
DV8 goes for a roundhouse, but with Heather's increased reflexes, she dodges it and also goes for a roundhouse, landing it on her opponent's face.
"This Spirit is insane!" Heather yelled out in exhilaration.
Heather catches the staff still in the air and swings it at her opponent, landing a critical strike on the noggin.
"How do you like that?!" Heather taunted.
DV8 gets up again, slightly weakened.
"Okay, you want some more?" Heather asked rhetorically.
Heather runs to DV8 and pushes them off the R Point to take their fight elsewhere.
We then see the rest of the Running Men watching this from below the arena.
"What is she doing?" Duncan asked.
"It looks like she's trying to take the fight elsewhere." MacArthur says.
"That would make sense, seeing as the next batch of players will go into the arena…" Shawn states.
"5 minutes have elapsed! 5 minutes have elapsed!" The robot announces.
"...now." Shawn finishes his sentence.
"So, who's next?" Carrie asked.
"Duncan, you go next." Kitty instructs.
"Okay, I see no problem in that." Duncan was fine with the decision.
Duncan then walks onto the platform and the platform flies out of the room.
We see Heather and DV8 in the middle of battle. DV8 was firing shots at Heather as she tried to block them with her staff.
"How much ammo does this guy have?!" Heather exclaimed, getting tired.
Heather pushes as she keeps on blocking fire. But suddenly, an orange light appeared behind her.
-Spirit of the Hand-
"What the?!" Heather exclaimed.
A glowing orange fist flies past Heather and hits DV8 in the face, knocking them out. She turns around to see Duncan.
"The second batch of players have arrived! Duncan and DV7!" The robot announced.
"Need help?" Duncan asked smugly.
"I was holding my own fine." Heather stared daggers at him.
"Come on. You were totally having trouble." Duncan was taunting her.
"Whatever. Now we know that each of the DV8 has a label. From DV8 to DV1." Heather points out.
"Okay?" Duncan raised an eyebrow at this remark.
"Let's go control the R Point before DV7 arrives." Heather instructs to control the R Point.
Seemingly on command, DV7 appears out of nowhere and tackles Duncan.
"Ach! You just had to jinx it, did you?!" Duncan yelled in a panic.
"I got you!" Heather yells.
Heather uses her staff to whack DV7 off of Duncan. They then see the body structure of DV7. They have the figure of a developed female, with well developed legs that seem familiar to Duncan. They seem to be equipped with gold nubs worn on the fingertips that act as cat claws.
"What is this?! A cat DV8?!" Heather remarks from the appearance of the opponent.
Duncan then inserts another Spirit into his watch.
-Spirit of Strength-
Duncan's gauntlet's glow red. DV7 attempts to do a slash with their makeshift claws, but this is intercepted by Duncan, who grabs the arms in place.
"Hey, you seem familiar." Duncan states in seeing them from somewhere.
DV7, without warning, punches Duncan in the face, causing him to let his grip on them go.
"Gaaah! Agh! Straight into the nose!" Duncan yelps from the pain. "Agh! I feel like the Sticky Bandits from Home Alone 2!"
"No time for movie references, stand guard!" Heather gives off a warning.
DV7 began running at the two.
"There's no point in fighting, we've gotta control the R Point." Duncan states.
"I agree. Let's get out of here." Heather agrees with the plan.
DV7 leaps at them for a claw slash, but the two jump out of the way.
The two then began making their way up the stadium. DV7 then began giving chase.
"Um, I think they're following us." Duncan states in hearing their enemy behind him.
"Don't worry, it's 2 against 1 and we both have Spirits." Heather reassures him.
"Okay then." Duncan agreed.
When they both stepped foot on the R Point, DV7 leaped up and attempts to slash at them. Heather turns around and blocks it with her staff. Duncan grabs them and throws them away. DV7 then uses their claws to dig into the floor and slow their momentum.
"This one's a lot fiestier." Heather notes the ferocity of DV7.
"Are you ready for this?" Duncan asks while readying himself.
"Yeah, let's do this." Heather said with determination.
Duncan then inserts his Spirit into his watch.
-Spirit of the Hand-
Duncan began firing glowing energy fists at DV7. The opponent slashes at the projectiles with presicion.
"This one definetely seems more skilled than the other one." Heather remarks at the skill of their opponent.
DV7 then shot out their metal claws at the two.
"Look out!" Duncan yelled.
The two jump out of the way as the claws graze their faces. The claws then fly back at DV7, reattaching themselves to their fingers.
"Okay, claw projectiles. That's another thing to note." Heather takes a note of it.
Heather then charges at DV7.
"Yaaaaagh!" Heather yelled out a battle cry.
We then see the other Running Men watching the game play out.
"Okay, they seem to be holding their own." Carrie was relieved.
"So we got worried over nothing?" MacArthur asked.
"I don't know, something seems off." Kitty states that she doesn't feel right about this.
"Yeah. Why does DV7 seem familiar?" Owen asked.
"That's not it. I'm feeling a strange vibe from the DV8. Something famliar but somethimg different at the same time." Kitty explains the feeling she's getting.
"How does that work?" Mike asked.
"I have no idea." Kitty states.
"5 minutes have elapsed! 5 minutes have elapsed!" The robot announces.
"That's your queue, Shawn." Kitty said.
"Okay." Shawn agreed.
Shawn steps on the platform and flies off into the arena.
We then see the Game Master watching the game play on from his viewing room. He watches his holographic screens with intent.
"This is beginning to be interesting." The Game Master muttered.
A blue robot appears next to them.
"Shall we begin Operation: Lifting the Veil?" The robot asked.
"No, not yet. Let's wait until everyone is on the arena." The Game Master said. "I want them to be crushed at one and swift moment."
"Yes sir." The robot agreed.
We are getting closer and closer to the big reveal. With all the hints lyimg around, I'm sure you will know what'll happen, but not the Running Men. The veil is about to be lifted and their spirits will be crushed in the next chapter.
Smile and wave boys.
