One year later, Yugi and Yami were set to get married. Amara hadn't had the chance to throw a huge party for Heba and Atem's wedding so she made sure to throw one for Yugi and Yami. They protested at first but once look from Amara made them stop and they allowed her to throw a party.
They had managed to convince her to only allow friends and family at the ceremony. The ball to follow after is when they would make their official debut as a wedded couple to the people. Amara had agreed and made sure to work with the couple to make sure the ceremony was what they happened.
"Do you Yugi Motou take Prince Yami Sennen to be your husband?" the priest asked turning to Yugi. "For as long as you both shall live?"
"I do," Yugi said with a smile, slipping the wedding ring onto Yami's finger.
"And do you, Prince Yami Sennen, take Yugi Motou to be your husband?" the priest asked turning to Yami. "For as long as you both shall live?"
"I do," Yami said returning Yugi's smile with a soft nod as he slipped the ring onto Yugi's finger.
"Then by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you to be officially married," the priest announced with a smile. "You may now kiss."
Yugi and Yami shared a look before they kissed. Their friends and family cheering as they did.
Yugi and Yami turned to the crowd and walked down the aisle, their hands linked together and bright big smiles on their faces.
"And introducing the newly wedded couple, Prince Yami Sennen and Yugi Sennen," the chamberlain announced to the crowd. The crowd cheered as the couple appeared at the top of the stairs and walked down, their hands linked.
Amara and Aknamkanon met them at the bottom of the stairs, as did Yugi and Heba's parents, Estelle and Dominic Motou.
"Congratulations you two," Estelle said with a smile.
"I hope life brings you both all the joy in the world," Dominic said wrapping an arm around his wife's waist.
"Thank you," Yami said with a smile. He had gotten to know Estelle and Dominic since he and Yugi had gotten together. A month into their relationship, Yugi, Yami, Heba, and Atem travelled to Japan to see Yugi and Heba's parents and tell them the great news.
"Thank you, everyone, for attending tonight's celebration," Aknamkanon announced as the crowd went silent as they listened to the speech. "It brings me such joy that not one but both of my sons are happily married and I hope life continues to bring joy into their lives."
"Cheers to the happy couple!" Amara called out raising her glass in the air.
"Cheers to the happy couple!" the crowd repeated raising their glasses in the air.
After the toast, the celebration began.
Yugi and Yami managed to escape from the crowd and to the balcony where the curtain behind them was closed to give them privacy. Two guards stood guarding the door, making sure to turn away guests who were searching for the couple.
"I can't believe we're married," Yugi said with a smile, turning to Yami who nodded softly. Something was bothering him, Yugi could tell. "What's wrong?"
"Can you promise me something?" Yami asked softly, leaning forward to lean against his arms on the balcony railing.
"Of course," Yugi said with a nod. "Anything."
"The years that Atem was pulling away from me and the years that followed, well, they scarred me pretty deep," Yami said staring up at the stars in the evening sky. "I was scared to be hurt by anyone ever again, I never let anyone close to me in fear of my heart breaking."
Yugi listened to Yami quietly. He knew a little of what happened between Yami and Atem and what happened after.
"Then you came along and my walls started to break," Yami said turning his head to look at Yugi with a soft smile. "And Atem apologized and I allowed him back into my heart, then Heba came into my heart, and you followed suit."
Yugi smiled softly as he recalled his time after first arriving in Egypt and meeting Yami. He had walls up that he refused to let anyone break, though, after time, Yugi started to chisel those bricks and the walls slowly started crumbling. Which allowed Yugi to see the part of Yami he hid away for so long.
"And now we're married," Yami said with a soft chuckle. "But I need you to promise me something."
"Anything," Yugi confirmed with a nod.
"I've trusted you with my heart for this long and I will continue to trust you with it," Yami said turning to Yugi with a small frown, his eyes staring into Yugi's. "Please don't go breaking my heart."
There was a few moments of silence before Yugi pulled Yami's hands into his own with a soft smile.
"You can trust me with your heart," Yugi said with a nod. "I won't go breaking your heart."
"I'm holding you with that," Yami said as Yugi drew him into a kiss.
"Now let's go before your mother hunts us down," Yugi said turning around and heading back into the ballroom. Yami smiled softly and followed suit.
'Yeah, everything is going to be okay from now on," Yami thought as he joined his husband with their friends.
Author's Note:
Alrighty! So the sequel is done, I had a lot of fun writing it and I hope you enjoyed reading it.
And yes, I did plug in the title of an Elton John song. Don't Go Breaking My Heart, which I was listening to a majority of the time I was writing this fic, especially the last chapter. Though, I was listening to the Ella Enchanted cover.
Anyways, I have other fics on my list to write, specially Voltron fics. But I hope you all enjoyed this fic.
Until next time!
