Heart finally goes along with Alastor's interview with her. They get to talk about things Heart hasn't really told a lot of people. At least in this new city. Even though they are having a good time it seems like someone wants to get in the way and because of this Heart as well as Alastor start to realize some deeper feelings might be afoot for them both.

Honestly this is one of my favorite chapters. It was fun to RP out with my friend and i hope you enjoy as well.

Ch 5: Coffee and Spice

Saturday went uneventful as Heart went about her day. Another day at the library and of course the weekend was a little busier. Especially since everyone was off work, kids off school and more people wanted to come to see her. Everyone treated her so wonderfully.

She did eventually see Alastor but was only at the train stop on the way home, just as he said. She reminded him of their coffee interview tomorrow morning and he was still on for that.

She spent a lot of her time Saturday night trying to put more of her stuff away and was glad she was about a quarter of the way done now. Her home was slowly starting to feel more like home.

When Sunday morning came around, she was excited to jump out of bed and get ready for the day. She went through some of her dresses and pulled out a purple one she had, it was just simple that went to her calves and exposed her shoulders. She then went to the bathroom to put on just a tiny bit of makeup.

Heart got done in the bathroom and then headed downstairs. She made sure she had her purse with her keys, she put on a shawl and then walked out of the house and locked it. It was a wonderful morning for sure. She walked down the sidewalk to the train car stop. She told Alastor they could meet there or if one wasn't there yet to go to the others houses.

As for Alastor, he rose on Sunday morning and stretched until he was fully awake. He remembered his coffee 'date' with Heart and got some pep in his step as he got ready. Wearing his best, a red vest white shirt with a black and red bow tie made from the finest silk. Splendid slacks to compliment his look and a striped suit overcoat a beautiful chestnut brown to match his hair. He made his way out of the house and headed to the stop.

Heart walked up to the tram stop and sure enough Alastor was waiting for her there after he had gotten the rest of himself ready. Looking very dapper in doing so. Just for her. He was standing and reading the paper per usual waiting for heart

The woman slowed her walk as she looked and saw Alastor at the stop and she would admit that he looks so handsome. She felt her heartbeat pick up a moment as she looked at him and she seemed lost to the stars.

She walked up to the radio host and greeted him, "Well aren't you looking like a dapper cat today." She said in a small seductive tone.

He glanced over at the woman and his smile widened while lowering the paper. "Ah I thought I heard an adorable Miss. Wolfe grace me with her presence." He said, turning to her while giving a bow then putting his newspaper away. "I could say you're the cat's pajamas then cher. Look at that lovely shade of purple on you, splendid!" He chirped.

Heart gave a smile with a small chuckle. "What, this old thing?" She joked as she did a small spin. "I guess it looks good, yea." She then gave a small curtsy of her own for him. "The pleasure is all mine."

"Also, my dear whatever you desire for our little shindig is on me today I insist." The burnet winked.

"It's just coffee Al, I promise I won't be getting anything goofy or something out there." She told him as she had worry strike her a moment from him saying that. She didn't want to have to have the man worry about her.

"Well, I will at least take care of your coffee needs Cherie." I am biting at the bit and itching to learn more about you." The man smiles, booping her nose again.

"It's all for the interview and I also wouldn't mind telling you what you want to know. Killing a lot with one stone." Heart says as she giggles from his boop.

Soon enough the train car arrived and the two got on, with Alastor helping Heart inside and they had to stand for the moment as they made their way toward the coffee shop Alastor had in mind. It wasn't far from the library and was only a block away from the Radio Station.

The coffee shop was small but cute. The way that the place looked was almost fancy, but that was just the architecture of the building. There were seats outside and in and you could tell it was popular, but since it was early in the morning not many people were around waiting.

"So cher, what do you think of the coffee shop? Looks pretty hotsy totsy hm?" Alastor wondered as they walked up closer to the place.

"I think its adorable." Heart answered him. "I think this is a perfect little spot as well."

"Fantastic little darlin. How about you pick a spot for us to sit and flap our gums? I'm sure the waiter will be along shortly." He suggested as he gestured forward.

"I think sitting outside will be nice." She says and walks over to a small corner of the coffee shop.

He followed her and they both sat down and waited for a waitress or waiter to take their order.

After they sat down soon enough a waitress came over, she had long blond hair that was curled and was skinny as could be. She gave them a small menu. "My name is Sophia. What can I get you today?" The waitress asked as she got out her notepad from her apron, all while looking at Alastor with hungry eyes.

Alastor was a bit surprised about this broad, she stunk to high heaven with some cheap perfume. It was disgusting... and the way she was…just...rubbed him the wrong way.

"I'll have some Java black if you don't mind. No cream or sugar." He said.

Sophia wrote down what he wanted. "Nothing? Well, I could always add that in later for you if you want." She flirted to him with a wink.

Heart just glared at the woman for a moment from her menu but kept her mouth shut.

"Ah... no thank you... I always take my coffee the way it is." He insisted, not picking up what she was hinting at. "What about you, cher? Decided yet?" He asked with a smile while looking at her.

The waitress looked almost confused by Alastor's response. That was a new one for her. She brushed it off and looked at Heart.

The woman snapped out of her mood quickly and looked at the menu. "Oh, um, can I get a regular coffee with vanilla creamer please. Oh, and a strawberry glazed donut." She told the waitress.

"Sure thing." The waitress seemed annoyed and looked back to Alastor. "Would you like anything added baby?" She asked him.

The man adjusted his spectacles "Erm no madam I'm not fond of sweet things the coffee will do." He said feeling a bit uncomfortable now.

Sophia was annoyed again by the man's answer but just said with an annoyed tone. "I'll put that in for you." She said before walking off.

Heart let out a breath. "God the nerve of that woman." She said as she watched her walk away. "What a Broad." She added in a whisper.

Alastor snickered at Heart and nearly lost his composure holding in a hitch chuckle then whispered, "What a dumb Dora. Don't worry dear she better treat you right being new and all."

"She better not hit on you anymore or I'll show her what for." Heart says a little agitated. She then realized what she said. "Oh, sorry about that. I'm usually not this violent." She said, embarrassed.

"My heroine! Saving me from the broad monster!" The man cheered quietly between them and gave her a wink. "Not to worry dear, I love your fire, it's very enticing."

Heart laughed a little from that. "Oh, stop it you." She says and playfully hits his arm.

"All right, all right, I concede. Would you like to get started while I wait for a coffee or would you want to wait after you had a couple of sips?" Alastor wondered.

"We can start now. I don't mind." She says as she sits back a moment. "Hit me with your best shot sir."

"As you wish doll, so tell me from the beginning what made you want to be a librarian or at least get into that sort of work?" He started off.

"I love to read. Plus, I like to help people. When I was 16, I was looking for a summer job and the local library was hiring for an assistant. So, I applied and I got it. I've been working at a library ever since." Heart told him.

"Impressive my dear, they should call you the book whisperer indeed since you seem to find the perfect read for everybody. What a beautiful combination for such a lovely lady." Alastor wrote a little and then put his pen to his chin. "Now, remind me again, if it's not too personal, what brought you to New Orleans? I know Kristen invited you but what made you decide?"

Heart played with her hands for a moment before answering, "I was looking to leave my hometown once I graduated college. When Kristen told me about the opening at the library, I jumped on it. I thought it be wonderful to move to a place I've always wanted to visit. Plus be close to a friend. I finished my semester and started to plan to come down here. Of course, after my parents died, it was even more of a reason to move down here. To get away from the trauma." She explained.

Alastor's heart sank a little hearing about her parents as it hit close to home about his own mother, "I'm so sorry my dear... that you had to go through such awful trauma. Know that you have a family down here now. Have Kristen, you have Rosie and you have me. Never feel afraid to come to us for help for anything." He said tenderly moving his hand over to hers and resting it on top giving it a small pet to soothe her.

Heart smiled up at the man. "Thank you, Al. That means a lot to me." She put a hand on top of his that was on top of hers.

"Anytime, to lighten the subject a bit, what's one of your favorite things you like to do when you're not at the library or reading?" Alastor asked so that he could lighten the mood back up.

Heart had to think for a moment. "I guess I enjoy the outdoors. I've never gone camping but I've always wanted to." She answered.

Soon the waitress came back with their order. She put the coffee down in front of Alastor and then the coffee in front of Heart. Then her donut. The waitress had a smirk and when she placed the donut down. She hit Heart's coffee and made it spill onto her dress. "Oh no! I'm so sorry!" Sophia said in a worried tone.

When the coffee spilled on her, Heart jumped up and back from her seat. "Ah! What the hell!" She yelled as she was surprised by the action.

"Watch what you're doing you dumb Dora broad! You probably burned her acting like you're smoked!" Alastor snapped at the blond, going around the table to try and help Heart.

"I'll go get a rag." Sophia said and walked off. She was in no hurry.

Heart tried to let the coffee drip from her dress. "Al I'm ok. Its ok." She tried to reassure him.

The burnet hurriedly grabbed some napkins from the table and did his best to try and clean up the coffee from the woman's dress. Taking some water from the pitcher and began to rub the coffee away. "It is not fine. That's unacceptable."

"I'm sure it was an accident." The woman says as she tries to clean herself off as well. "Hopefully I can get this out."

"Oh, I will make sure that this gets taken care of. That ditzy dame is on thin ice with me." Alastor growled, wiping up a little more of the spill.

"Thanks Al." Heart said softly.

The waitress came back with a rag and cleaned the coffee from the table. "Again, I'm sorry, I hope I didn't ruin your dress." She said with a tiny, concerned voice but you can tell it was fake.

"We'll worry about that. Replace her coffee since you spilled it." Alastor states, clearly annoyed while pointing to Heart's now empty cup.

Sophia put her hands up with a scoff. "Fine fine ok. I'll be back." She then walked away with the dirty rag.

"Stupid bitch..." The man muttered as they sat back down. "She pulls anything else I'll have the right mind to ostracize her on the radio."

"Don't do that Al. The girl needs her job. She is just a jealous Sheba." Heart told him as she settled back down.

"She doesn't need this job if she treats other gals with their fellas this way-" Alastor quickly realized what he said and tried to correct himself, "- er... I-I mean I-uh...gals with their friend's yea! "He corrected then sitting down adjusting his bow tie after tugging at his collar.

Heart looked at him with a blush as she caught his words. She cleared her throat slightly. "Well, I guess I can agree with you on that then. She shouldn't treat anyone that way honestly." Heart added.

"Precisely darling. She's acting all bizarre too, like some kind of heat-stricken mare. What a bimbo. She's not even that appealing." He huffed sipping his coffee.

Heart gave a chuckle at his choice of words. Soon the waitress came back with a new coffee for Heart. She set it down without a word and walked away.

Alastor swore something in French under his breath watching her walk away "Salope agaçante."

Heart went and took a sip of her coffee. She gave a sigh of relief and then sat back. "Alrighty, how about we go back to bumping gums shall we?" She said, smiling slightly at him.

"Lovely idea cher, let's see where we're we, ah yes we were talking about you liking the outdoors." Alastor summarized.

Heart took a bite of her donut. "Oh yes yes. I also like going for walks when I have the opportunity. Hike and see the woods. It's always been my favorite thing."

"Perhaps we can take a stroll in the bayou sometime? It's not all swampy waters you know, there are lovely little patches of green and lush spots that are dry." He says excitedly.

"I think that would be fantastic. I'd love for you to show me around to a good spot one day." Heart says with an excited smile.

"We could even have a picnic too and perhaps a fun little outing." Alastor suggested.

"Honestly a picnic does sound nice." Heart agreed

Say, what are some of your favorite things? Color? Food? Animal?" He said, writing all the notes down in. A journal.

"Wow wow there cowboy. Hold your horses." She said laughing.

"Aha sorry cher it's the coffee and my temper." The radio host said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.

"It's ok. No worries hon." Heart says and then thinks of an answer. "Well, favorite color is red or purple. Favorite food, that's a tough one honestly. Probably barbecue ribs. Although your jambalaya might be my new favorite." She answered with a chuckle. "As for animal, I'd say a wolf. That's not being bias either."

He scribbled her answers as she spoke, his smile growing bigger as he began to know more information about her. "You have such lovely answers and interests Miss. Wolfe. As I'm finishing my notes is there anything else you want to share?"

Heart hummed in thought. "Let me think. Hmm. You're a handsome devil." She says as she poked his nose.

"M-me? Oh, doll I wouldn't say that much... erm haha." He said sheepishly rubbing the back of his head trying to hide his blush.

Heart giggled. "Don't worry, we can have that one off the record." The black-haired woman says and then went to think while taking another bite of her donut.

"How was your donut by the way? I hope it's good. That bimbo better not have done anything to it." He growled changing the subject.

"It's delicious. Would you like to try some?" She asks and holds the donut out to him.

"Hmm I am not a fan of sugary sweets but... for you dear I'll give it a go. No teasing if I make any faces or I might just have to tickle you." Alastor warned.

"I promise." Heart says and looks at him excited.

With that he takes the plate that she gave to him with the donut on it. He took a nearby knife and cut a small piece and took his fork and took a bite.

Heart watched him take the bite. "Soooo what do you think?"

Alastor didn't know what to think. It honestly felt his teeth were rotting from the inside but... it was. good. He made a slight face but then said, "It's ...not bad...I-I just feel my teeth are rotting like an apple. Perhaps I'm over sensitive to sugar more than I thought."

"Hey, you gave it a shot, right? That's all I can ask for." The woman told him as she takes the donut back and takes a bite of it herself.

"I suppose. My apologies, perhaps I could alter the recipe a bit so it feels like I don't have 6 cavities with every bite haha!"

Heart rolled her eyes playfully. "You're so silly."

"Hm... oh what things don't you like so I know not to do them?" The radio host asked, getting another sheet of paper on his notepad.

"Don't like? Hmm. I don't enjoy bully's I guess it is a start." Heart stated.

"You and I both, sister!" He chirped siding with her, "Anything else?"

"Well, I don't like when people steal. I honestly don't like killing people unless there is a reason for doing so." Heart added.

"Hmm yes, death is unnecessary unless it's your only option left for your survival... I've learned that myself..." He says sipping his coffee a little more.

Heart held her cup tightly for a moment. "Only option. Yea. I can agree with that." She said as she looked down at her coffee.

Alastor saw her mood drop and decided to try and push forward, "Well my dear was there anything else you wanted to talk about or tell me before we wrap up the interview?"

Heart looked up at him and then took a sip of coffee. "Yea." She pauses. "I grew up in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I'm 23 years old. And I'm ready to start my life in New Orleans and I can't wait to see what this city has in store for me." The woman looks at Alastor smiling

"Oh well that's quite a closer darling. I love it, very peppy and energetic, absolutely berries!" Alastor said, adjusting his glasses and finished writing what she said.

"Thanks. Probably not the best to be honest but hopefully you'll be able to spice it up." Heart said as she took the final bite of her donut.

"Mon Cher you already have the spice" Alastor told her with a smirk.

Heart chuckled around her donut and then swallowed and took a sip of coffee. "Alastor, you cheeky cat."

"What I do best my dear. Would you like anything else after coffee? Hm?" The man wondered.

Heart shook her head. "No, I'm ok for the time being. Thank you Alastor."

"Alright doll, fair enough, anything else you'd like to ask before we wrap up our date?" Alastor made sure.

Heart smirked at him and leaned on her hand. "Oh, so this is a date now huh?"

Alastor blushed, "Ah! Uh... eh n-no no just a coffee meet up. I assure you!" He said nervously and assuredly, adjusting his bow tie.

Heart chuckled. "I'm only teasing Al. I really enjoyed this little get together." She then looked at her wrist but didn't have her watch. "What's the time?"

"Oh, it is 11:30am dear. Forget your watch?"

"Yes, I did. I should go home first and change. I only have to work a few hours at the library today, but I shouldn't go like this." Heart said as she gestured to her lap.

"Yes, darling I understand." He sneered in the direction Sophia was in, "Would you like me to take you home? I have some time?" He asked kindly.

"As long as you won't be late for work?" She made sure.

"Of course not. Your safety comes first my dear. Here let me leave enough for the bill." He said taking out enough money and leaving 5 cents for the waitress. "She doesn't deserve anything but as you said she does have a life. Perhaps she'll think twice. Come dear let us be on our way." He said, helping her up.

"Hopefully she does." Heart takes his hand and they get up and head out from the cafe and back to the train car stop

"Please do me a favor dear when you have changed, bring your outfit back with you, I'll have it dry cleaned and get that stain professionally removed." Alastor said to her as they waited for the train car.

"Are you sure Al? I'd hate to have this be a bother to you."

"Listen doll I doubt your washing facilities are hooked up and this one need special care. It is no bother since you are still trying to get settled."

Heart smiled. "You have a point. Thanks Al. I'll have to make it up to you." She says as the train car starts to pull up to the stop.

"You don't have to cher, I'm happy to help as always." He said helping her up to the train car and letting her sit first

"I'm still going to try and find something." Heart chuckles as she sat down.

Alastor chuckled and sat down beside her. The train cars bell sounded and off they went back to the street where they both resided on opposite ends.

A nervous Alastor is a cute Alastor. Seems like somethings are connecting. How will this all come together i wonder. Hehe
