Big brother Arister is so awesome, I admire him a lot since we were kids and he's someone I always looked up at. I was staring from the balcony at the sky, I got tired of playing videogames and watching anime, a little fresh air could do me well. Ever since our parents went missing 5 years ago, Arister has been there for me, and I always try to be there for him, I cherish all the time I pass with him.
"One day I'll make you so proud, big bro..." I quietly said, staring at the starry night sky. I suddenly heard my phone buzzing and looked at it, Arister is calling.
"Huh?" I answered "Hello?"
"Masahiro, we got problems, start packing the most necessary things you can, they will come for you and I'm heading home to pick you up, meanwhile, if someone knocks don't let them in and keep close the pistol, also grab your special stuff!" Arister said through the phone call.
"S..Sure thing big bro, please come quickly!"
"I will, brother, hold on for there!" We ended the call as I went to do what he asked me.
I put on a grey hoodie with zipper, a pair of military pants Arister gifted me, and the boots our dad bought for me, then started packing everything in the dufflebags. Keeping some clips and the glock at reach, as I was packing the clothes, I went to grab my special stuff: a pair of tonfas customized for me and a revolver with dark blue coloring and cyan vein like things.
These items were the only ones that I could use with ease so far, since with other guns for example the bullets would explode on impact no matter the type of ammo they were, or the close combat weapons would have more power in my hands. The weapons were in a bag the orphanage gave me, they said that a note said they belonged to me for the future and Arister's father kept them for me, once I grew older enough, big brother trained me with tonfa combat, I would accidentally hurt him most times but; but now, since the past month I managed to keep better control on the weapons. I would go with Arister to a forest and we always trained there.
I remember all the cities we have moved from since they would always find me: Sapporo, Nagoya, Nara, Osaka, Kobe, Toyohashi. If it wasn't for those people trying to kidnap me, I would've stayed with my friends from Okazaki. I sighed as I finished packing everything.
"One day I will have a normal life..." I said outloud. My phone started ringing again "Huh?" I saw it was Arister again and answered.
"Are you here yet?" I asked.
"I'm taking the elevator with Kiro."
"Ok, I'll wait, so far no one else came here so I think I'm safe..." I peeked at the window.
"I'm almost there. I'm hanging the call."
"Alright." Then the call ended.
Kiro is nicknamed Barricade, his full name is Kiro Hamada, he and the others from Arister's team would come every once in a while here. I remember Amiya, a.k.a Saturn, Lucius; called Hopper and Anne who is Daybreak. I heard the door open and saw Arister and Kiro.
"Big bro!" I shouted and hugged him tightly.
"Masahiro..." I felt him hugging me tight as well.
"Hi Masahiro." Kiro said.
"Hi Kiro." I greeted Barricade. Arister let me go.
"We need to get going, Barricade, grab the bags and let's get going." He ordered to Kiro, who nodded as we all started heading into the elevator. As we were going down, I decided to ask something.
"Where will we go now?" Once hearing that question, Arister frowned and looked away.
"I don't know, our Department HQ was raided and overrun, we're talking with the army now and contacting the reimainig personnel that managed to flee." He answered. I looked down and felt very worried, if these people could take on the police, then we are in serious trouble.
"I'm scared, what if they catch me and what if they take me away from you?" I said, my voice cracking a little. "They hunted us down because of me as if I was some sort of monster to those people."
"Masahiro..." I heard Arister's voice softly speak.
"I don't want to be away from you or your friends ¿What if they try to experiment on me like in the rumors that are said in those protests?" I started questioning. "¿What if they make us dissapear like mom and dad...?" I asked, suddenly I felt someone's embrace.
"Please, don't think of that, don't think they'll take you. Me and my team are going to protect you, those people won't have you because I'll be there to stop them." Arister said as he hugged me, I grabbed his arms accepting the hug, the elevator played a ding sound as the doors opened. We got out and headed out of the building.
"Saturn, status report?" Arister asked.
"The army is fighting the attackers and one of the squads was ambushed apparently, we lost contact of them, and from what I managed to hear, a vehicle crashed into them. In the worst case, the enemy is tracking all of us down and we have limited time before we are found." She said.
As we all were in the van, Saturn kept talking through the radio as Stomp was holding Masahiro in her arms, he fell asleep few minutes ago. With a sigh, I headed to the front and asked to Hopper and Clockwork.
"Do we have a destination?"
Clockwork answered the question, turning towards me.
"We were granted permission to travel to any of the cities in the Kanto region."
"Any suggestion?" I asked.
"I'd say Hakone, the mountains will help us hide from the criminals that attacked the headquarters." Clockwork said.
"Should we inform the other squads?"
"Negative, sergeant, the enemy may have gotten hold of our communication lines, I'm afraid we can only hope the best for the rest of our personnel." Hopper said. I sighed, feeling bad for the other officers and operators.
"Damn it with Nomad."
Suddenly, we heard a crash in front of us, the ground shaked as I looked and saw a humanoid with wings landed many miles away from us, Hopper pushed the brakes as the van stopped abruptly, I saw Masahiro was awoken by this.
"Damn it, they found us."
I grabbed my shotgun as Barricade already rammed a few ninjas away and Crusader fired at other ninjas while Hermes was helping Masahiro get up since he fell onto the van's floor. I got out and blasted a ninja in the face, which was followed by me pumping my gun.
"Sergeant Hikaru, you are surrounded , hand over the boy or we will get him by force!" I heard a distante voice yell. I turned to the direction to see a masked man with a longsword and glowing yellow eyes.
"You know well the answer!" I aimed my shotgun at the masked ninja and pulled the trigger as gun fired, the swordsman deflected the shots as we all narrowly dodged the deflected projectilles; I reached for my tonfas and ran towards the ninja.
"Stubborn human, you will only find death with that attitude!" He did a swing that I blocked with my left tonfa, then spun my right tonfa and wacked the head of the swordsman, followed by another spin blow that made him stagger.
I jumped and struck him with a hit similar to a punch, the shorter end of the tonfa impacted against the masked man as his face was revealed, red skin and small horns with lower fangs sticking out ¿ Another orc?
"Crap!"
I duck dodging a slash, then counter it by striking him with both tonfas as I spin them to hit his chin, I then land two blows on each side of his chest; he swings his blade down on me, I block the attack and push the longsword to my right, taking the chance to knee his exposed nose and then hold my right tonfa by the long end, hitting this ninja orc in the neck.
"Ngh!"
A ninja hits me with his shoulder, pushing me to my left side, I managed to roll and blocked a glaive slice attack with my right tonfa and flipped it to hold the weapon by the handle and with the longer end facing forward. I slammed both sticks against the sides of this ninja's face then as I held him, I slowly started lifting his head. Once reaching the height of my shoulders, I lowered my self rapidly as I slammed the face of the ninja into my knee, making him jump back away.
"Die!" The red orc said, the intinct kicked in again and I rolled to dodge a pair of swings from him.
He thrusted his blade as he did a quick dash towards me, I parry the stab and hit where his lungs may be 5 times, then I swing my left tonfa spinning it a little and hitting his nape hard, knocking the red man off his balance. I slam both tonfas with the back ends facing forward into the back of this bastard, I saw blood erupt from his mouth as he passed out, or died.
I grabbed his body and threw him toward a female ninja that was fighting Saturn, the ninja woman was hit by the unconcious red man as Saturn gave me a thumbs up, I nodded at her and looked for Masahiro, who was shooting at an orc struggling with Stomp, then noticed a ninja in crimson rush at him, I made a run for it and jumped to tackle this crimson shinobi.
I managed to save my brother and rolled to throw the ninja against a group of orcs, the person got torn apart by the impact against such heavy creatures. I fired another shell, the shots landing in the belly of a ninja woman, I blasted again and the ninja fell dead on her back. I blocked with the shotgun a kick from a ninja then dodged an axe swing from an orc. I blew shots into the orc rapidly then pushed the ninja with the weapon as I switched back to my close combat weapons, the ninja threw shurikens at me.
'Crap they're real!'
I roll forward then uppercut the ninja with my right tonfa, slamming the left tonfa into the chest of the person and pushed them into a car.
The operators and the teen stood surrounded by the ninjas and orcs, back to back with the feeling of dread looming around them as the enemy did. Now things look closer to an end, their lives and their freedom. It's for sure, the will have lost both in the end.
"Stop." A female stern voice said, as all ninjas and orcs around us halted.
"What the..."
I looked around, only seeing the orcs and people with their weapons still drawn but standing still. Then I spotted a silhoutte of a woman standing on top of one of the buildings. I noticed that she was holding a weapon and could see her yellow eyes, just from afar, as if I was starting at something that had more than meets the eye.
"Hand over the boy and you will have your lives spared, humans" The woman demanded slowly, in an intimidating tone. We stand in place, surrounded by all these monsters and assassins, ready to throw themselves on us at any moment.
"No way, I won't let you take away my brother for your nasty plans, demons!"
"Do you think your foolish weapons and bodies will save you from this?" The woman asks, I pump my shotgun, glaring at her.
"You're overestimating yourselves, monsters!"
"Sergeant, what will we do?" Saturn asked.
"I'm not sure, I'm low on ammo and don't think we can fight all of them long enough, not to mention, that woman up there is sending me chills down my spine."
"Arister, they're going to take me and kill you." Masahiro told me, he's clearly scared.
"I won't let them take you, brother, I promise."
"Sir, I have a smoke grenade and a flashbang, maybe we can escape through the sewers..." Clockwork pointed out.
"No, something tells me that plan won't work, if only-"
We suddenly hear many gunshots as we look around.
"Sergeant, the enemy is falling down!" Hopper says as I look at the ninjas and orcs.
A lot of Nomad members are getting shot at and apparently the hidden attackers are using some sort of explosive rounds, because some orcs had their bodies getting holes blasted into them while the ninjas wer getting most of their heads and bodies blown apart.
"Team, get down!" I order as we all duck, the gunshots become more frequent as more people of Nomad are being killed.
"What the hell is going on...?"
The woman jumped down from the building in front of us, the firing cease; this woman had a brown skin, long pink hairm yellow eyes, wearing a slightly revealing outfit that consisted mostly of black, a purple cape and red shoulder pads, she held a longsword covered in dark purple flames. Suddenly, between her and us emerged from the ground an armored person in green and yellow. The person strikes the lady with a mace and knocks her away.
"Thank you."
The armored person nodded and activated jets on their back, charging towards the brown skinned lady, I heard the sound of metal smashing together and assumed they clashed their weapons. I noticed people in similar armor come from the shadows and surrounded us, but they didn't have this aura of agressivity Nomad had.
"Die!" I heard the woman with the sword yell, I managed to duck in time to avoid the first armored person getting knocked away towards us. She then started walking towards us, I fired my shotgun towards her, the blocked all the pellets, so I grabbed my tonfas and dashed towards her.
"Huu-Haaa!"
I faked throwing a kick, she fell for it and I managed to smack her with my left tonfa spinning it, as she staggered. I hit her with a right hook and she slashes at my chest, I block the blade-
"Aaaagh!"
-The flames are burning my hands, I jump to avoid a cut to the legs and kick the woman in the face, then strike her with a left thrust into her forehead. With a roll to the left I dodge a high slash then I slide to kick the lady's left knee, twisting it slightly as she screams and tries to cut on me, I manage to roll to the right and get up, the armored person flies past me and rams the woman, I hear a loud ¡Clank! and see both struggling while fliying into many of the cars.
"Clockwork, fire support!"
"Yes sir." Clockwork aimed his sniper at the flying pair after saying that then said "Target locked."
He fired as the armored person then threw the brown skinned woman into a truck, then flew down in front of us. Then walked towards me, holding slightly up my now burnt hands.
"Brothers, call a medic and greet our new brothers and sisters for our brotherhood!" The armored subject said, as the other armored people started cheering and eventually one which looked to be a medic approached me.
