Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Immortal Galaxies. Enjoy the 1100-word chapter. I don't own halo, Microsoft and 343 do.
The Immortal dropped out of Slipspace, the massive warship drifting as it flew. Landon could feel the ship shift as the supercarrier adjusted to this place… Wherever the hell it was.
"Captain?" Lord Hood questioned to which Landon turned as he nodded. "This isn't UNSC space, there's no spacecraft, no stations… And no Guardians." Hood stated as Landon nodded.
"Someone get a pair of Broadswords up?" Landon asked as he crossed his arms. "Sir? Permission to speak freely?" Landon questioned before he did so.
"Captain? I think we are damn well past the point of formal greetings." Lord responded, watching as a pair of F-41E Broadswords raced by.
"What exactly is the game plan?" Landon asked, turning to the window. "Immortal is tough, but we're outmatched. Covenant didn't hold planets hostage like this. We haven't managed to get in contact with Infinity or HIM. You're the guy who makes the big calls, I'm just in charge of the ship we're standing on." Landon added as Hood shook his head.
"We figure out where we are," Hood stated to which Landon nodded. "The Master Chief and Infinity will fight like hell. I don't have the UNSC Navy with me. This is your ship, your call." Hood said as he walked towards the window.
Landon closed his eyes and shook his head. One of the most powerful, elite ships in the fleet… And him and about 20162 men and women if he included their docked frigates counted on him. They were lost, they were unsure.
"We should wait till the data comes in." Landon stated, joining the head of the UNSC Navy. "Maybe there's a planet nearby. We can travel there, lay low… How are you and the other VIPS settling in?" Landon added as he shook his head.
"If you mean the rest of the Security council?" Hood questioned as he shook his head. "Their busy settling in. I'm waiting for one of them to come up with something." Hood added before nodding.
"Nav, anything on your end?" Landon questioned, crossing his arms as he did so. "We need to keep our heads on a swivel. We have to be ready to jump before one of Cortana's buddies show up." Landon said before he rubbed at his temples.
"We're picking up something." Landon heard as he uncrossed his arms. "Undefined signal, not Covenant, not created… Sending coordinates." Landon heard before he and Hood nodded.
"Onscreen." Hood ordered as both turned to the table, both were curious as to what this was. "That's a ship profile in space? I don't recognize it." Hood stated while looking over it.
The ship didn't look like it was alien, at the very least? It wasn't forerunner. It didn't match the profile of a guardian. However? they were curious as to what the shell-like vessel was.
"Can any of our pilots get a good look at that vessel?" Hood asked before turning to nav. "I want a full squadron deployed now. That ship doesn't match anything we've seen before. Captain? Whatever this is? We can't lose the Immortal." Hood stated as he shook his head.
"What do you suggest, Lord Hood?" Landon questioned as he crossed his arms. "That we don't know what that is, us bringing their ship closer might not be a good idea." Landon put in while crossing his arms.
He observed the hologram, this ship was different… And so was the space around the ship. Whoever this ship was? Landon wanted to check his options.
"Agreed, but we need to check what this could be." Hood stated, crossing his own arms. "That ship isn't Forerunner, but these tags don't look that old. Bring the Immortal closer, 2 escorts… If this goes sideways? We bring them back and then jump, this is on me." Hood ordered before Landon watched as the crew leapt to their stations.
Bright blue light flashed across the ship's bridge. The box like cage was quite cozy for the moment, but it was home to enough of humanity's best and brightest for him to consider that he could be risking too much. However? It was his choice to make at the end of the road. This was HIS ship after all.
However? He decided to pursue it when it came down to it. If they could save more humans? It would be quite interesting to them.
However? they were quite curious as to what more people were coming down to it. They couldn't really begin to think about when he thought about it.
"You know there's a chance they end up being people who try to kill us, right?" Landon asked as the supercarrier began moving. "I'm just as curious as you, sir. Though I know that they could end up blowing this entire ship to hell. I still have this crew to deal with, sir." Landon added before Hood was silent, aware of what he was saying.
There was a lot of people aboard who knew how bad things were. Without a good leader? They'd be falling apart, now? The fact they had any amount of hope showed him they were still in this fight.
He knew they were still cautious for good reason. Even if you subtracted the thousands of soldiers in this ship? It was still one of the most powerful in the UNSC, losing it was more important than anything.
"How do you assume this will go?" Hood questioned before he turned to look around, cautious as to how this will go.
"There's plenty of soldiers aboard a ship that size, sir." Landon said as he turned to his men. "We go in? We should be ready. No telling what we're find on there. They could have something nasty on that ship. You want us to deal with it? I think we should have something watching out for us." Landon put in before he dusted off his hands.
Hood was silent, if they did this? There would be no escaping them. However? There was very little reason for them to be scared, if they could just find an answer to this solution?
