In the Soul Cairn

This place was just a barren land with a purple sky, grey terrain, ruins dotting the place, and Haraldor can see scattered across the place are what looks like huge soul gems floating. "Well this place does look pretty dead, Serana I feel bad for sending animals here when I kill them for their souls so I can enchant gear or recharge it." Haraldor commented as they walked down a path that lead to what looks like a castle. On their way they encountered new undead creatures like bonemen, mistmen, wrathmen, and a spectral horse. After dealing with the relatively weak mist men that came out of nowhere when Haraldor placed the horse skull on a pedestal that the soul of it's rider asked of them the soul popped up. "I thank you stranger and I can be at peace now. You can have Arvak since I have no need of such a steed anymore. Let me teach you how to call him." With that Haraldor now had a mount to traverse this land faster than if he was just walking everywhere. Also he had a horse he could call at any time if needed.

They explored the ruins except the castle and the floating towers dotted around. Haraldor found three tomes of conjuration. They were three different spells to summon Mistmen, wrathmen, and bonemen which would come in handy later whenever the situation called for it. Eventually their path led up the front steps of the castle. "Well Serana if your mother is anywhere it would be here. Fits the whole vampire creepy vibe if you ask me." Haraldor joked and after walking ahead on the landing he walked face first into a barrier. "Ow what was that that blocked me? It felt like hitting a brick wall." Haraldor complained as he got to his feet. "Well Haraldor it seems that there is a magical shield blocking us out from the inside." Serana guessed. "Actually it is there to keep me prisoner here Serana." A older eloquent voice spoke and out walked another female vampire. "Mother!" was all Serana could say when she saw the woman. "Yes Serana I am here but you're not where I left you. And who is this with you? I can tell he is one of our kind." Serana's mother said giving both of them a piercing look. "Well this is the one who brought me out of that crypt. He is a good man." Serana was stating before her mother cut her off "So what if he is a good man it could be a ploy to lower your guard for your father can manipulate you. You listen here youngling, are you working with her father? What are you intentions with my daughter that I took a lot of precautions to protect?" The vampire was pissed but Haraldor stood his ground.

"Well firstly I don't work for Harkon more like I work against him, secondly I am a member of the Dawnguard who hunts vampires who are a threat to the world like Harkon, thirdly Serana has been helping our group and is tolerated with them, finally I willingly was turned by her so that we can enter here and gather all three scrolls so we can get to whatever Harkon wants before he does and cause a whole bunch of trouble." Haraldor stated plainly to Serana's mother who was thinking over everything Haraldor said. "Well you became what you were fighting to defeat it now that is interesting. Well I would help you with this but I am locked here and can't open it from this side. There are three keepers that control the barrier and my jailer Durnehviir. If you can defeat the three keepers the barrier should fall and you can come inside but if that happens Durnehviir would most likely notice." She explained to them the jest of what needed to be done and they went out to do it. That took about an hour to complete and when they returned they swiftly went inside to get what they came down here for. But when they reached the courtyard they heard the flapping of some large beast wings overhead. "Damn it Durnehviir is already here, prepare yourselves!" Serana's mother warned us.

To the shock of Haraldor and Serana perched on the roof of a building in the courtyard was a dragon that looked like a rotting corpse. "Well shit Serana, pretty sure Sitttheim would know how to deal with this guy. I can try distracting him while you get the scroll so we can get this done quicker." Haraldor swore and suggested a plan to Serana. The only thing running through his head at the moment was 'Shit! Shit! Shit! How in shor's name am I going to fight no less defeat a fucking dragon! Talos, please lend me some of your strength.' Haraldor walked out of the cover they were hiding behind. 'Ok Haraldor remember what Sitttheim said to say if you know a dragon's name and want to greet them respectfully and maybe challenge them in a duel.' Haraldor was looking for the words in the dragon's tongue that he was told to say. He didn't have the ability to shout like the grey beards or Sitttheim but he could say the words without the power in them. So Haraldor walked into sight and said to Durnehviir "Dur Neh Viir Aal Los Loost Tinvaak Voth Aan Joor?" Which just translates to 'Durnehvirr will you have a talk with a mortal'. The speaking of the tongues of the Dovah grabbed the attention of the dragon.

When Haraldor is holding the attention of the dragon the other two went for the scroll. "Durnehviir sorry I don't really know how to speak in your native tongue but was taught a little by the Dovahkiin when we met on the road and how to properly ask for a chat with one of you." Haraldor told the dragon who nodded in understanding. It spoke in a deep gravelly voice "So you are the mortal that has defeated the keepes guarding my prisoner. Why have you done that not for only a talk with me." the dragons breath smelled like rotting meat that has gone for years. "You are correct Durnehviir I didn't just come for a talk but to challenge you. I want to test my skills against such a being as you. All I ask for is a fair challenge meaning only your thu'um, claws, and teeth do not fly above me for that would not be fair to me because I have no wings like you Dovah have." Durnehviir was surprised at the request and quickly said "I will grant you your request mortal now prepare to die!" With that combat started between the two.

Durnehviir after he said those last words let out a torrent of frost breath that Haraldor dodged out of the way and responded with a fireball to the dragon's face. That stopped the frost breath but when Haraldor got close Durnehviir swung his tail at Haraldor forcing him to back off less be hurt. Haraldor had to dodge another shout that came from the dragon's maw as he tried again to get close enough to slash at its hide but Durnehviir was determined not to let this man get close to him. Haraldor not seeing an opening to get closer used his stormbreath spell sending sparks to fly from his mouth and strike Durnehviir. The spell the human used surprised Durnehviir enough that Haraldor was able to get close and use his axes as climbing tools to get on the back of Durnehviir. Haraldor was hacking and slashing the beast's back causing it to bleed when he felt a lot of pressure come down on his leg and him to be thrown into a pillar. Durnehviir was able to bite the man's leg and toss him away after trying to do that while it was on his back.

Durnehviir was walking up to where the human landed and saw that it was standing back up again. "I am not done yet Dovah!" Were the words that came out of the man's mouth as he charged at him. Haraldor was going into a berserker rage and letting the battle lust that had been locked away for a long time consume him because this dragon was a good fighter. He ran at it and tried to leap into it's back once more but was caught by the dragon's sharp claw raking across his face which will add another scar on there. But the state he was in didn't register the pain it would cause and he ran at the dragon again and this time was able to land on it's back. He climbed up the creatures spine and started to hack into the dragon's face causing it to buck it's head allowing Haraldor to gain air and come crashing down on the dragon's skull killing it. After the body disappeared Haraldor's battle lust subsided and he could feel the pain and toll that this fight took.

He stumbled his way back to where he entered the courtyard and saw Serana with the scroll on her back talking with her mother. "Serana I… beat… Durnehviir." Haraldor said to her shakely and she came to help me walk. We quickly said goodbye to Serana's mother and headed out towards the portal. When we walked out the gates There sat Durnehviir looking at us. "You were a worthy foe and I will answer your call if you ever need of me Qahnaarin." The great creature said to Haraldor which was returned with a weak reply "Well you weren't too bad yourself and I will call on you if I have need of you." Haraldor patted Durnehviir's muzzle when it was in range and they left. They made it out of the Soul Cairn and got far away from the castle as fast as they could. Eventually they made it to Haraldor's manner where Serana dropped him off before she went ahead to fort dawnguard. When he was in the care of his wife he fell into a deep sleep to wake up five months later with his body healed.

In those five months came the end of Harkon, the finding of Auriel's bow, Farkas becoming the new Harbinger of the companions, a Tolfdir becoming the new arch mage, and his twenty second birthday. As soon as he was looked over and made sure that he was alright Haraldor sent letters to all the people he knew inviting them to his Manner. This took a year to gather everyone but in that time haraldor stocked up on different ores, tools, food, and potion ingredients, plus other miscellaneous things. His twins were now two winters old, Lucia was now ten years old and already trying to become a shield maiden. Eventually everyone who got his Invitation was here. All of his family, Farengar, Sitttheim, Serana, Isran, Vilkas, Farkas, Aela, Sorine Jurard, and Gunmar. Everyone got settled in and helped with the preparations of a feast.

When the table was all set and everyone seated Haraldor rose up from his chair at the head of the table and spoke. "My friends, family, and loved ones I am glad to see all of you after the fact that I was asleep for five months and woke up to find the Dawnguard was victorious against Harkon. I raise a glass to you Isran for your victory. I also raise a glass to Farkas becoming the new Harbinger despite the fact I will miss the old man. Finally I raise a glass to good fortune and good health to us all!" Haraldor finished his speech and drank from his glass the wine that was inside it along with everyone else. They feasted the night away and went to sleep in the beds that were available to them and drifted off to sleep in good cheer and full stomachs.

That night Haraldor dreamed of being in a golden hall with heroes of the dead feasting and having marryment around him. The figure that caught his attention most was what looked to be a nord in armor, having a very long white beard, and having a golden glow about him sitting at the high seat above the feasting hall. Haraldor knew who this was and knelt before him. "Great and mighty shor what honor it brings me to be in your presence." Haraldor said in reverence to the figure before him. "Rise child for I have something to tell you." Haraldor listened to shor and stood up looking into the divines eyes as shor continued "I have brought you to my realm to tell you that you will be soon in your home realm where your destiny is not finished there yet and thus you must complete it." Haraldor shocked asked "Was I not born on Nirn lord Shor?" To that shor spoke "No you were not. Your parents left you on the steps of a home that would have most likely killed you so they could raise their other son who was your twin. I intervened all those years ago and set you on the front porch of Dragons Reach where you grew and thrived. I hope that you succeed with your destiny my child and know that despite being a vampire you will be welcomed in my halls no matter what the Deadra has to say about it. Now Haraldor Stormbreath I bid you farewell!" With those last words Haraldor shot up in bed and looked around.

The occupants of the house woke up and went outside to see what they were no longer where the Manner was the night before. They were in a forest that was deep. They scouted for hours and eventually found a break in the tree line and saw a castle on a hill overlooking a lake. When they saw that they went back to Haraldor's manner and discussed what they found. "Well this forest is home to a lot of things, some are harmless others are not. There was a castle to the south of us but we didn't see the people who resided there because we don't know if they were friendly or not. The best plan of action is to secure this area and build defences so that we aren't exposed to whatever may try to come knocking." Isran said to the group of people around the dining room table. They got to work chopping down trees and building a spiked wall around the manner protecting them from attacks. They set up a watch around the manner. All this took about four months and it was feeling like early Hearthfire when everything was done.

AN: And I am going to cut it here folks. Harry is finally in the HP universe with the people I selected to come with him. Soon Haraldor will meet Dumbles, the weaslys, his brother, hermione, and his birth parents. The wizarding world will not expect a 23 or 24 year old Harry popping up and the fact he is a vampire to boot will be surprising but I wonder how Haraldor will react to them. Well folks, the next chapter is going to be fun. Also no Harry will not be a dimension hopping maniac after dumbbells and voldemort are done with. Anyways Toodles my good readers!

Ps: I was happy to write the fight with Durnehviir and am happy that I am posting this hot off the press.
