The timer goes off on my phone… I look at Kelly as I shut the timer off, he asks "Do you want me to look at it?" I nod my head yes, he reaches over to grab the test and flips it over. He smiles brightly, then says "We are gonna be parents, you're pregnant, 8 weeks.
I jump up and squeal with delight, and jump into Kelly's arms.
"I'm so happy right now!" I told him.

I wake up at 5:15am, too Les throwing her guts up in the bathroom.

"There's nowhere else I wanna be then by your side, through every aspect of this pregnancy and life itself. You're not gonna get rid of me that easily." I explained to her.

"No such thing, beautiful, you and this baby is my world, and I'll spend every day of the rest of my life showing you that." I told her.
Les gets up after another five minutes of dry heaving, then she cleans out her mouth and brushes her teeth. She turns to me and smiles, "I can't believe we are actually going to be parents." She says, wrapping her arms around my neck.
"I know me either, we have to get a bigger place, and probably should get another vehicle." I say thinking out loud.
"I agree, maybe Casey can help us find a bigger place, we should have a house, with a yard, and i'm thinking we need an SUV, besides your mustang." Les says as we head into the kitchen while I make myself coffee and she starts making tea.
"Yea, I'm sure Casey can help, also an SUV is probably a good idea." I then stop and look at her while she makes her tea, "Why are you drinking tea and not coffee?" I ask.
"Caffines not good for the baby." She explained it to me.
"Oh, I didn't know." I say, feeling dumb.
I know she can see the wheels turning in my head, when she says "Don't feel bad, not everyone knows about caffeine being bad during pregnancy." She comes over and kisses me tenderly.
"Thank you." I simply say.
"For what?" She asks with a quizzical look on her face.
"For always knowing me, and what I'm thinking." I say, kissing her forehead, then pouring myself coffee.
"That's what I'm here for." she says as she grabs some yogurt and granola.
"So, what are you going to do about work?" I ask, tentatively, knowing this is going to be a tough subject.
Les sighs then says, "I was hoping to continue to work, not like we couldn't use the money."
"I know, but your and the baby's health and safety is more important to me, than money or work." I told her, putting her face between my hands, brushing my thumb over her jawbone.
"I know, I feel the same, but I just don't want to be looked at or treated like I'm fragile just because I'm carrying a baby." She explains her fears.
"Baby, I don't think of you like that, you are beautiful, strong, bad ass, and so perfect, in my eyes." I told her, kissing her deeply, she tried to deepen the kiss I pulled back, and said "I would love nothing more than to take you to bed, but it's already 6:45 and we need to shower and dress."

"Deal." She says as we pull up to the firehouse.

We get out and head into the firehouse hand in hand,
We go to the locker room to drop off our bags, then we head straight to the chief's office.
"You ready?" I ask as we approach the man's office.

"Come in." We hear Boden say, we walk in and I shut the door behind us.
"Good morning you two, what can I do for you?" Chief asks as he hands us HR papers.
"I'm pregnant." Shay blurts out, making me chuckle a bit at the shocked look on bodens face.
"We found out last night after we left your place." I explained.
"Well congratulations, you two." Boden says as he hugs Shay then claps me on the back and shakes my hand.
"Thanks Chief." Shay and I both say in unison.
"Are you going to tell the rest of the house today?" Boden asks, Shay shakes her head, then tells him "no we are waiting to see the doctor first."
Boden nods, then says "I can understand that, I still think you should at least tell Dawson so you have someone on your side on calls in case something goes wrong" Boden explains.
I never thought of that but he is right.
"I'll think about it." Les tells him, and I sigh.
"Okay well fill out those HR papers by the end of shift. Congratulations again to you two. I'm happy for you both." Boden says as we turn to leave..

After we leave the Chiefs office Les, quickly kisses me then heads to the ambo to restock, I head to the squad table as my phone pings.
Katie: So? What did the test say? I waited long enough, seeing if you'd text me first!!
I chuckle to myself and reply to my sister
Me: It was positive!
Katie: OMG!! I'm so happy for you guys!
Me: Thanks sis, I'm pretty excited and happy.
Katie: I bet, I'm gonna spoil that kid rotten!

Just then the bells go off
All units, multi-vehicle pile up on the freeway.
The whole house jumps into action, I shove my phone in my pocket, then head out .
