The next morning Rosemary had already been up for some time by the time Lee arrived downstairs for breakfast. "Good morning sweetheart. How did you sleep?" The look she gave him in response indicated that once again sleep had not been easy for her. "Anything I can do?" she shook her head "I don't feel tired Lee," she said as she sliced some bread. Lee rubbed her back, "I worry about you Rosie"
"I think Elizabeth is the one we should be worried about Lee"
"Why don't we invite her round for dinner this evening? I'll help you cook"
"I'd like it if we could do that Lee. She could probably do with the distraction, I would imagine she's been very preoccupied with the funeral plans the last few days."
"Well, why don't you pop by my office for lunch and we can go invite her together."
"Thank you, Lee," she said with a smile as she turned to look at her husband. "Well, I should probably head to the office. I told Jessie that we'd get an early start." He kissed her on the cheek "I love you" She grabbed his hand "Lee?"
"Yes, sweetheart?" She threw her arms around him "Goodbye Lee, I love you" He returned her hug with a confused expression on his face. "Everything okay Rosie?"
"I just don't want you going to work without me saying goodbye"
"You always say goodbye."
"But what if one day I don't and something happens." Lee placed his bag on the table and pulled her tightly to him. "I will always know you love me, Rosie"
"I just don't want to lose you, Lee." He sighed and kissed her forehead before speaking gently. "You aren't going to loose me Rosie" she gripped his lapels tightly as she held back her tears. "You can't promise that Lee. Nobody can."
"Maybe not, but I can promise you that I will love you till my dying breath. True, I don't know what our future holds as you said, nobody could ever know that, but what I do know is that I intend to make the most of every second I have with you."
Rosemary smiled weakly and placed a hand on her husband's cheek before kissing him softly. "I love you, Leland Coulter."
"I love you too sweetheart." He kept eye contact as he picked up his bag and opened the door. He blew her a kiss "see you later Rosie"
