"Hold on, we? I can't take you!" Chloe barely had time to finish the sentence before Kara was gone and then back again, a rush of air gently hit Chloe causing her to blink as she took in the view of the now well put together young woman standing in front of her now looking more business like rather than dishevelled, half asleep alien girl who had stood there a second ago, "still no!"
"Oh pleeeeasee, I could be really helpful." Kara was giving Chloe her best puppy dog eyes, the ones that always worked when she wanted to get her own way,
"Nice try but those won't work on me young lady!" Chloe channelled mom voice number 3, Kara even got unimpressed mom look number 2, raised eyebrow for full effect, Kara knew she had lost this battle and deflated,
"Now, now Miss Zor'El don't look so disheartened, the Detective is often immune to my charms as well!" Lucifer smirked but also still seemed confused to 'how?' he was him after all.
"Yes Lucifer, your "Charms", Chloe air quoted and rolled her eyes, "also not helping," Kara was sure she could hear some amusement in Chloe's tone,
"I am always helpful Detective, besides I believe Miss Zor'El could be beneficial on this mysterious case of the potential not case, case."
"Sentence got away from you a bit there!" Chloe smirked,
"Yes, indeed it did but the point is still valid, apparently she is an extremely well regarded investigative reporter, so a fresh perspective and a new set of eyes, eyes speaking of which can see through walls." Lucifer threw the last bit of information in as an offhand comment as if it was the least important thing in the world, Chloe was having none of that,
"Wait? What?" Kara just nodded, "you can see through walls? Fly and what else?" Chloe was stunned,
"Shoot laser beams from her eyes too!" Came the more coherent reply from Ella, who had decided to give up trying to be asleep, so had decided to get up and join the conversation,
"I'm also bulletproof!" Kara shrugged, "really fast too." She smiled at Chloe,
"So basically a super woman then?" Chloe finally responded with a small smile as she shook her head,
"Well Supergirl," Chloe looked at her questionably, the woman in front of her was no girl, "Long story but the media named me that and well, it kinda stuck, I suggested to Miss Grant that it should be Superwoman but she overruled me so Supergirl it is, but here and now, it is just plain old Kara Danvers, reporter!" Kara stuck her hand out as if to great Chloe for the first time, "nice to meet you Detective Decker,"
"You too Miss Danvers!" Chloe returned the hand shake,
"Well now that is out of the way, I see no problem with Miss Zor-El joining us!" Lucifer smirked,
"Not sure how we can spin this though Lucifer."
"Simple, a reporter from out of town has heard of our exploits and has come to interview us, tag along on one of our cases and see how effective we are,"
"Lucifer the last time we had a reporter tag along, he turned out to be Linda's ex-husband and then went crazy and murdered people!" Chloe quickly retorted,
"Miss Zor-El, have you ever been married to Dr Linda? Are you planning on killing people because you know I am the Devil?" Lucifer was highly amused by his questioning,
"No to both questions!" Kara couldn't help but get swept up in Lucifer's amusement as she giggled, also a slight blush at the suggestion of being married to Linda,
"Well then Detective, we should be fine, shall we adjourn to the site of this possible murder hmmm?" A big grin now plastered on his face, Chloe knew she had once again lost an argument to the Devil. It looked like Kara would be joining them on this case.
The short ride from Lux to the possible crime scene had by LA standards been quite short as the traffic had been light. Chloe had been impressed by the young woman sitting beside her, not only had she beaten Lucifer to her car and called shotgun forcing the Devil to sit in the back of cruiser (to much grumbling on Lucifer's part) but by the questions that had been fired her way about the 'case' by the reporter, they were thoughtful and intelligent, so much like the way she analysed the facts, it was not long after they had left Lux Chloe was warming to the idea of Kara joining them, like herself and Lucifer this woman also wanted to find the truth.
"So and don't take this the wrong way Detective Decker but why were you and Lucifer called in on this case? I mean from what Ella, Cass and Lucifer have told me, you only usually get called to actual murder scenes and we are still not sure if there has actually been a crime committed this time!" Kara hope she handed offended the Detective by the questions,
"It's a good point but before Lucifer's arrival in the department and before my theories about dirty cops had been proven, I got assigned the weird cases or the unsolvable ones as a kind of punishment or a unsubtle slap down as a reminder to fall in line!" Chloe's anger flared a little but wasn't directed at Kara,
"I bet you showed them!" Kara grinned, she knew this woman had more than enough strength to fight back and succeed,
"Yep, solved those cases too, worked my butt off to do it but got the closure to the victims' families and one less criminal on the streets, all the negativity and hatred I received from my co-workers actually worked out in the end in my favour and helped me become a better cop." Chloe paused and took a breath, talking with Kara had lifted a huge weight from her shoulders and for once Lucifer had stayed out of the conversation, "but to answer your question, this is a weird case or not, so I have more experience than the others to decide either way but for now I am going to treat this as a murder scene, I will investigate as if the body was there until I am convinced otherwise!"
"Bully for you Detective!" Lucifer finally spoke and Kara had to be impressed with this woman's spirit for justice, she could now see why the ultimate 'punisher of evil' would be drawn like a moth to the flame by this woman.
