Once Kakashi got back to his office, he carefully set the bag that held the phone down.

The phone itself was in a military-grade proof case that was thick and covered in pink glitter, beads, and a giant cherry blossom petal sticker on the back. It was sickeningly cute and oh so fitting for someone described like Sakura.

"So you got it? No problems," asked his partner, an older and tired looking person named Inoichi Yamanaka. His long blond hair had plenty of grey showing through - an attribute likely gained from their line of work.

"Very minimal," Kakashi hums as he watches Inoichi pick up the bag.

"I'm going to take this to see if we can get some DNA sample from it-"

"You won't get much from it. It was found far under her bed and her mother had been clutching it since she found it," Kakashi hummed out and sat down in his chair. The plump cushion allowed him to sink into it. He allowed himself to momentarily close his eyes in thought. "I think the more useful information is going to be found inside of the phone, at this point."

"Even so, we have to outrule everything," Inoichi said as he left the room. Kakashi watches him go with disinterest. He knew it was unlikely and even if someone else other than her mother could be detected on it, it was going to be Sakura herself. It was doubtful that someone else had been in possession of her phone and in her room. It just didn't add up.

Turning on his computer, he busies himself by doing research. He found her facebook profile, the same one that the other detectives exhausted when trying to find motives for her disappearance, and he scrolled through her timeline.

Lately, it was just filled with other people's memories of her or kind words to her family. Pleas for her to come home, to be okay.

There was a particular picture that constantly got reposted more than the others though.

This particular picture was posted by Ino Yamanaka, his partners daughter. It was a picture of Sakura and what looked to be about 11 other teens all crowded around one another to fit into the picture frame. Konohagakure woods could clearly be seen from behind them and the corner of a large house. The post itself read, "I can't believe this was the last time we got to see and hear you. We miss you more and more everyday. There are so many things I would give to be able to drool over boys and complain about school with you again!"

Kakashi clicked on the comment section.

Comment after comment went by, most saying around the same things. She was sorely missed, that was for certain. He would need to revisit some of the people that were talked to when the case was fresh. There were lots of things to be done and so little time to do it. The longer she was gone, the harder it was going to be to find her.

His mind wandered over towards her phone.

Her mother said she recorded a lot and that it was her weekly, if not daily, ritual. If there was something going on in her life before her disappearance, no doubt there was a possibility that there was a recording on there about it. He would just have to wait for the phone to come back from testing. Hopefully, his hunch was right.

The high school was busy.

Students were out and about mingling with one another. There was laughter, some crying, and general rambunctious chatter. It was nostalgic of his days at this very same high school. As he makes his way into the school's office, the secretary, Shizune, as she asks everyone to call her, waves him into a private conference room.

"Greetings, Detective Hatake," a busty woman with a calm demeanor greets him from the table. He quietly takes his seat as her honey-brown eyes watch him carefully. They had been in this very same room some months ago for the very same reason. "I trust that you have everything already prepared?"

" , a pleasure, as always." He greets in return, bringing out his documents and placing them on the table. The folder the documents were in was thin and that said everything as her eyes dimmed in the hope that she had in them. "I just wanted to chat with a few of your students again about Miss Haruno."

"Of course, I will send them in one at a time. If you need anything else, let us know," she says as she quietly exits the room. He knew that she had a soft spot for the young girl. That much was evident when the case first arose and he interviewed them all the first time. She could be a brash woman and all but lost it when she found out. The echoing of chairs and doors could be heard all throughout the private office section of the school.

The door softly creaked and in walked the familiar face of one Ino Yamanaka. Sakura's best friend - the girl that the missing girl had told everything, supposedly, as it happened. There was hardly a thing the blonde didn't know about the other girl.

"Good evening, Miss Yamanaka. How are you?" He asks her gently as she takes a seat across from him. He could see that the bags under her eyes from the last time they talked weren't nearly as bad, but the telltale of her biting at her nails was much more prominent. Her cleanly kept long hair was now cut into a bob beneath her chin. She was tired, he could see that, and he hoped that he could ease some of that tiredness in the next couple of weeks.

"Hello, I'm well.. May I ask why I'm here? Is it Sakura?" She asks, hope laced in her voice. He knew that she, just like many others, desperately wanted answers. Where did she go? Why her? "Did you find her? Please tell me you found her!" Tears pricked at her eyes just a tad as a bit of desperation shined through.

"Nothing of significant change has occurred," Kakashi answers softly, and he could see the way she deflates. Defeat is shown clearly on her face and the bit of hope that was shining in her baby blue eyes was squashed by sadness. "We are just going over case details again and I just wanted to talk to you once more. To make sure nothing was missed and so that we can bring peace of mind to Miss Haruno's family and you, her friends."

"I don't have anything more to say," she responds sharply. Her arms cross over her chest, her brows furrowed just slightly.

"There was a picture that you posted of you, Miss Haruno, and your other friends at a house in the woods. You said that it was the last time you saw her, how long was that before her disappearance?"

"Like I said last time, it was two days and then she just stopped responding to everyone."

"I see and can you recall anyone else that she may have texted in that two day time period?" He asks her, jotting down what she says.

"Her boyfriend Sasuke, maybe. They talked every day - even more than she talked to me," Ino says softly. "But, no one has heard from Sasuke since her case was first dropped, so don't ask me where he is cause I don't know. Maybe Naruto does, they're like brothers." Ino rambles, but she had given him a little bit of information that he could use. He had briefly talked to Sasuke when the case was more active but he didn't give much information. Revisiting him, especially if he has disappeared now, wouldn't be a bad idea.

"Thank you, Miss Yamanaka, you have been a lot of help," Kakashi says and Ino stands up. She looked irritated and he couldn't blame her. They were best friends and to hear that your bestfriend has been missing for a year now and there still wasn't any news regarding the case was upsetting.

"I don't see how. Repeating the same things over and over again isn't going to make some kind of new information just appear," she mutters and opens the door.

"We are just trying our best-"

"Right, whatever. That doesn't bring her back if your best hasn't brought up any results," and she slammed the door shut.

Kakashi rubbed at his temple. This case has been a pain in the ass since the get-go and he couldn't even fault anyone for it. This wasn't an easy case and it had been going on for a while. People will be frustrated, it is to be expected.

She was right, though. Hopefully there would be some kind of answers soon.
