Kuri caught his hand. "Arty. Are you sure you want to go through with this? The world of magic is dangerous for someone like you—"
Artemis bristled. "Someone like?"
"Intellect is the enemy of magic, Artemis. Magic is emotion…feeling…intuition. These are not things you value, or are even good at."
"I managed to handle fairy magic once before." Artemis reminded her. "And may I remind you that Opal Koboi was quite brilliant, and also possibly the most magical fairy ever to exist."
"Yes," Kuri conceded. "And the magic devoured her. Do you too desire this fate? Is magic so important?"
"Yes!" Artemis hissed.
"Very well." Kuri said, looking a bit disappointed. She took his hands, looking them over. "if you have magic…it must be awakened. I have a feeling—and I'm usually right—that the Fowl Line is a magical line that has been suppressed by fairies and rational thought for generations."
"Suppressed by genius?" Artemis had a hard time believing that his own mind was his enemy; considering magic lived in the mind. Also things like time travel were completely dependent on intelligence.
Kuri smirked. "I know it's hard for you—but stop overthinking. Your brain will overheat."
