Artemis entered the smelly inn and waited while Butler got their rooms. No reservations, honestly!
There was a woman there, arguing with a group of townspeople. Her hair was blonde and cropped short. Her eyes were as gold as her hair. And—most importantly, he could sense her magic. It was just like Kuri's.
"Ah…a cousin…" Artemis said in undertone.
Suddenly the very person that he was thinking of appeared and grabbed the blonde. Kuri.
"Billie, you aren't going to get anywhere with them." Kuri admonished, pulling her away. "Where was the last time you saw Neptune?"
Billie shook her head. "He's gone mad."
"Don't say that." Artemis approached. "He hasn't killed anyone. To my knowledge—which is vast. He seems to be…" he produced a file with a flourish. "Searching for something. Perhaps it is you he seeks?"
"And who are you?" Billie glared at him. "Another hunter?"
Kuri put a hand on her cousin's shoulder. "He's a friend. Billie Jenkins, meet Artemis Fowl II."
