After burning Cardin to a crisp and after Yang's arm healed Torchic was sitting on Yang's shoulder admiring Beacon's Building. All of these rooms had mesmerized Torchic as in the forest it was always the same old thing to see. Yang and Torchic were in the cafeteria along with the rest of RWBY and Team JNPR. All of them were chatting when Torchic noticed a Bunny girl getting bullied by that jerk Cardin. He still had horrible burn marks but was more or less okay. Cardin then pulls on the girl's ears "Hey look I told you it's real!". Russel replied "What a freak."
The Bunny Girl squeaked in pain "Pls let go!"
Having enough Torchic jumps and runs to Cardin and stands in front of the team. Cardin looked at Torchic a bit nervous after what happened last time. Torchic shouted out "TORCHIC!" and suddenly his eyes started glowing readying another volley of flames. Cardin scared at that shouted, "RUN! OR ELSE WE'LL BE BURNT TO A CRISP!". Terrified CRDL ran away like cowards while Torchic huffed in pride.
Velvet knelt down to Torchic's level and cooed "Thank you my little savior." Torchic jumped excitedly to make a new friend. Yang walked up and asked the Bunny Faunus "Hey Velvet you alright?". Velvet replied "I'm alright Yang thanks to this cutie." Yang replies while grinning "HE'S SO COOL RIGHT?!". Velvet giggled "Yea." Torchic waited eagerly while Velvet was confused why Torchic was so eager. Yang whispered "He wants you to be his friend."
Velvet understood and knelt to Torchic and held her hand out "Friends?". Torchic tweeted "Torchic!' and rubbed his head against her arm which caused Velvelt to squeal at his cuteness.
Yang picked him and walked back to the other Teams. Jaune said "That was soo cool Torchic just as soon as they saw you they ran away like Pussies!". Jaune laughed at CRDL's cowardice at seeing Torchic. Nora replied "Yea! Tho you could've broken their legs...But no probs! You're a big surprise in a small package!". Yang huffed "He's my sweet baby." before cuddling with Torchic who enjoyed it.
Later that night unable to sleep Torchic jumped off from Yang's bed and looked around the room to find see something interesting when his eye's landed a book on Blake's bookshelf. It read "How To Learn English." Trying to get the book Torchic fell down along with the book creating a loud THUD! However, thankfully none of RWBY woke up while Blake's ears twitched she didn't think much of it and went off to sleep. After Torchic opened the book. He learned a few pages while repeating a few of the words especially RWBY's names. "T-To-Tyang!, T-T-Roby, T-t-twice!,t-t-twake." etc and so forth until he learned five words.
The next morning Ruby woke up everyone with a usual whistle. Yang sat up annoyed at Ruby's whistle. She rubbed her eyes and looked at her bed to see Torchic...missing!
Yang immediately got up and said, "TOR TOR IS MISSING!". That alerted Code:Red for RWBY as they marched to JNPR's dorm. Banging on the door Nora opened the door annoyed when Yang said "Tor is missing!" Her eyes fluttering open she shouted for the names of the other members while saying "TORCHIC IS MISSING!". Immediately awake everyone grabbed their weapons to find CRDL when they heard "Torchic!" to find Torchic frantically looking for RWBY.
Yang ran up to him and hugged the life out of him while saying "Where were you?! Don't make me worried like that!". Torchic suddenly spoke up "Good Morning Yang, Ruby, Weiss, Blake!". Shook by Torchic speaking something else other than his name RWBY and JNPR were silent. Soon the girls squealed before Yang put Torchic down and asked "Tell Pyrrha's name!" Torchic squeaked "P-P-P.." Pyrrha encouraged "Your almost there!" Torchic said "Pyrrha!".
Squealing and happy at Torchic calling her name while Weiss and Blake praised Torchic. Weiss said "That was really smart Torchic!" while Blake petted Torchic as a sign of approval and said "Good Job little chicken." Ruby hugged the life out of Torchic while Yang huffed in pride of her little bud. Nora then said "Tell Nora!".Torchic waited for a few second before sputtering "N-Nooooo,..." Yang encouraged him "Your almost there!" and Torchic finally said at last "Nora!".
Nora was so happy at that before Jaune and Ren came asked "Try telling Ren and Jaune." Torchic spoke up "Ren!" while struggling with Jaune's name. Jaune encouraged "Cmon lil dude your close!" Torchic said "John!". Jaune's head dropped but he said "It's close but I'll take it he's just a child so I don't expect him to say difficult names."
Pyrrha just patted Jaune's back and said "Well C'mon guys let's get ready".Both RWBY and JNPR then went to dress for classes and Yang decided to take Torchic along with her to Oobleck's class. As soon as Oobleck saw he bolted to them and said "Ahh RWBY, JNPR! I heard about Long having a special animal but I did't think it was true. If it is not rude may I ask what can he do? Can he do something?"
Yang replied "Professor-". Oobleck cut her off "Doctor Oobleck!".Yang said "Yes Doctor Oobleck can we discuss this after class?". Oobleck replied "Very well Yang cmon all of you take your seats." After the boring session RWBY stayed behind to show Torchic to Oobleck. Yang said "Well Prof- I mean Doctor Oobleck what do you want to know?"
Oobleck said "Well Yang I would want to see him breathe fire. Glynda informed me so I would like to see it for myself." Yang said "All right. You hear that Tor Tor show em what you're made of!" Torchic replied "Tor!".Torchic jumped off and suddenly breathed in heavily before shouting "TOOOORRRRRR!" and a heavy sea of flames shot out from his mouth. Marvelled Oobleck scooped Torchic up and signalled RWBY to follow him. In Oobleck's room there was X-Ray Machine inside which he kept Torchic in for sometime. After 30 seconds the result came in and he put Torchic back in Yang's arms.
Examining the X-Ray Oobleck found everything normal. Torchic had the body structure a usual bird would have so nothing special there. That's when Oobleck noticed a small circular organ near Torchic's neck. It glowed red rather showing a white-blue image like Torchic's bones and other organs. After looking it a bit more Oobleck said "I think I figured why Torchic can breath fire." RWBY leaned in to listen. Weiss asked "Why Mr. Oobleck?". Oobleck replied " Look at this the region around Torchic's throat in this X-Ray can you see a red spot?". Ruby said "Hey! You're right!". Oobleck continued "You see I think this organ of Torchic may be the result of his fire-breathing. This organ may have certain chemicals which react with Torchic's saliva. When Torchic start's using flames he actually spits and the chemicals in Torchic's this specific organ reacts with Saliva thereby producing fire and since Torchic looks like he has handled this before his body has developed a natural resistance to flames." Oobleck concluded.
RWBY were surprised about Torchic's biology. It was interesting nonetheless. Oobleck said "Well that's all RWBY you may leave and go back to your dorms." RWBY thanked Oobleck and went back to their dorms. Yang was snuggling with Torchic all the way when Torchic noticed actions in Emerald Forest. Squeaking out Torchic pointed to Emerald Forest.
Noticing the behavior RWBY readied themselves and went to Emerald Forest followed by Torchic. Torchic then leads them the way to the forest. Frantically looking for something Yang then asked "Hey Tor Tor what are you looking for?". Torchic replied "Torchic!' before looking again when they heard rustling behind them. RWBY readied their weapons when Torchic said "Tooooorrrr!". From the grass, 3 figures came up. RWBY stared shocked. One of them was a small black fox with a red tuft of hair on its head and it had a mischievous smile. The other was a purple cat standing on its hind legs confusing Blake the most. The final was a small white fox white snow-white fur, ice-blue eyes, and six tails. The 3 stared at RWBY before seeing Torchic. The Fox said "Zorua!" and jumped on Torchic happy to see him. Purrloin patted Torchic and asked "Purr Purr Loin?".The Fox rubbed against Torchic and Torchic snuggled back. The Fox replied "Vulpix!". The 3 then noticed RWBY looking shocked.

The 3 having starry eyes walked up to the 4. Zorua walked up to Ruby and rubbed against her. Ruby screamed in happiness before Scooping the little one and kissing it everywhere and snuggling with it. Zorua jumped on Ruby's shoulder and Ruby squealed "You're soo cuuutee!". Vulpix walked to Weiss and waited for to be picked up. Weiss squealed at it's cuteness "Ohhh you're adorable! Aww are you da the cutest little babeh evah!". Squealing Weiss hugged it and Vulpix licked Weiss and she said "I love yooooouuuu!". Blake came up to the Purrloin before scooping it and cuddling with it. Blake said "Your my friend now" while saying Nya and cuddling with Purrloin. Purrloin just licked at Blake. Torchic jumped onto Yang's shoulder. Yang squealing said "Well..TEAM RWBY AND TEAM BEST FRIEND BACK TO BEACON!".
Ruby said "Aye Aye Sister!" and the team ran back to Beacon with new friends.
