Kabuto finished with his shower and now smelled like cherries. But it wasn't the same...
He thought if he uses it on himself, it would give the same effect as when he was carrying her, but it didn't, it just made him smell like fruit, that's all.
Something was missing and he knew what it was.
On this thought, after putting on his grey sleeping shirt and pants, he went to her room, just for a check of course, and found Sakura sleeping soundly on top of the scrolls, in the bed still in the clothes she wore during the day.
Kabuto let himself smile at this, seeing her antics.
After letting himself inside her room, he did a superficial surveillance, to see if she was hiding anything. Under the bed there was the metal part of her hitai ate, and he just left it there. Then, since there was nothing in the room besides the bed and the table, he carefully checked under the pillow.
There was a kunai put there, which she probably stole from him.
He just sighted at this.
As if she could actually use it against anyone there.
Her shallow snores filled the silence, and he felt slightly bad for waking her up. His fingers itched to touch the pink locks, but he knew better, and just moved her shoulder
"Sakura" he said
"Hmp" she frowned with closed eyes "Just 5 minutes." she said, while waving in the air.
"Sakura" he repeated still moving her "You need to shower" he said, leaning closer
Suddenly her eyes flew open, and he realized how close were their faces to each other. He could even feel the smell of her mouth.
"Kabuto-sa-" she forgot again on how to address him, and he just leaned back, adjusting his glasses.
"You need shower" he said, and she started immediately to put on the oversized shoes.
When Kabuto walked out, he looked back from behind his shoulder "And Sakura" her gaze flew to him instant "Just call me Kabuto"
When Kabuto woke up at 6:45 his mind was filled with the memory like dreams of Nono.
He didn't thought about her much, and couldn't even remember when the nightmares related to her stopped, so there was not a real answer on why this happened the night before.
After washing his face, he started to stare at the man standing in the mirror, and dreaded to put on the glasses, since that was also from Nono.
He just needed to turn away, and put it on, as if nothing happened.
The knock on the door brought him back more than his thoughts, and he went to open it, finding a short brown haired girl, around his age with two trails of food.
He took the first one, bringing it to the table, when Sakura's door opened and she walked out with a big dark purple oversized shirt, that reached her knees.
"Breakfast's here" said Kabuto, while stepping to get the second one.
"Umm...Kabuto-san?" said the brown haired girl with a flushed face, to which he just raised an eyebrow "Who is she?" said the girl, and from the corner of his eye he looked at Sakura, while she went to the bathroom.
"Not your business" he said coldly, turning back to the second tray
"She looks young..." murmured the girl in front of him
"What do you want?" he asked, looking down at her with annoyed expression
"Nothing" she replied back too fast to be true, and he narrowed his eyes "I just didn't know you were the type" she said, looking down at her shoes
"What type?" he asked with raised voice
"Who would take advantage of a young girl like that" she said, looking up at him, with small tears and Kabuto almost had to laugh, but instead just pulled his lips together
"Like I said, not your business" he said, closing the door in her face.
"When can I see Sasuke-kun?" she asked, after they were done with the questions, and she seemed to be able to recount everything from the previous day.
It annoyed Kabuto that she was soo keen on asking about Sasuke, but truth be told, part of her fake deal was that she could be close to him, so maybe Kabuto should give her some false hope in that regard.
"In one month, there'll be a small celebration, if Orochimaru-sama deems you worthy, he can allow you to attend." he said, while putting away the scroll and getting out a new one. He still didn't have fish, yesterday the small room seemed out of that, so he'll need to find some on his own.
"Celebration?" she asked, with raised eyebrows
"Anniversary of Otogakure's formation" he said, opening the next scroll, it was about anatomy.
"Ohh" she said, her eyes drifting away in deep thought, then tears started to form in them "Is my village looking for me?" she asked, turning to him
He was contemplating on this already, on whether to tell her a good lie and if so, what sort, but suddenly, seeing her eyes, he wanted to tell the truth, he'll just find a way to make it sound better, after all, if he want's to continue her conditioning, he'll need to establish some trust between them
"They think an Akatsuki member kidnapped you" he said, studying her reaction, the widening of her eyes
"Why?"
"I made them to" he replied, letting a small smirk crawl to his lips, and seeing the change in her eyes
"Why? Why are you like this?" she asked, reaching out to put her hand on his arm. The touch...it was back
"I'm not naïve" he replied, still holding her impending gaze "In this world, not everyone can play the big games, right now, me and you are small pieces in someone's chess play. The only way for us to take control of our life is to become stronger"
At night, Kabuto was still thinking of his own words
Did he reveal too much?
What if she makes the connection and tells this to Orochimaru?
No
She is afraid of the legendary sanin, she couldn't even stand in front of him.
But what if this somehow gets out?
He wasn't sure the simple lie of 'I tried to recruit her' would work.
Ohh fuck
He really fucked up, didn't he?
When Sakura asked about Konoha the next day, he wanted to show even more trust, so she'll not dare to betray him, by showing a new report on her Village.
It was from a remaining spy, and contained information of the basic events, such as the departure of Uzumaki Naruto with Jiraya, the search party that was sent after Sakura, coming back empty handed and with two members poisoned.
This information upset her, but he just shrugged, it wasn't his problem
The last paragraph of the report was about how he, Kabuto, was considered a missing nin, or a genin died on mission.
