It was early morning. Kabuto was in his room again, not really wanting to get up. It had started to become more and more common recently…

The room was dark, always missing the sun or rain from outside.

Yesterday Orochimaru had laid out his next mission, which was set for tomorrow, and he still had things to prepare.

As he had predicted, Kimimaro's state had been nowhere near acceptable to spar with Sasuke, so after a few days, he was sent back for more healing. Kabuto screamed that night into his pillow, right before destroying the damn thing, as well as other meaningless stuff in his room.

The sannin's impatience had wasted all of his progress, and had brought him back to almost stage one.

All of those months of healing...just like that...

He sighed.

Today, he needed to show Sakura how to keep up with Kimimaro while he's gone.

He'd only be away for 3 days. The worst she could be doing is nothing, but he hoped she'd at least be able to keep up with their healing work.

He sighed again before getting up to wash his face.

He was drying himself when he heard a scream from Sakura's room. He dropped everything in his hurry to run to her.

Sakura's room was as dark as his, only a single candle illuminated the scene

Sakura was on the floor, holding her knees up to her chin, with terrified eyes.

"What happened?" He kneeled down in front of her and shook her shoulders. He had forgotten to put on his glasses in the middle of this mess, so he could only see up-close.

She didn't answer, but her face seemed flushed, and she sank further behind her knees.

Kabuto quickly got up to inspect the room, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. When he turned back to Sakura, she was hiding her face.

"Why did you scream?" he tried again, sitting next to her, shaking her left shoulder a bit.

"Ivotmeriot" she murmured, hunching deeper.

The words made no sense to him, so he leaned closer.

"What was that?" he asked, holding out his ear to better hear her.

She seemingly leaned more to her right side away from him, murmuring something again that still made no sense, so he asked again.

Sakura finally raised her red face, eyes filled with frustration, and she hit the floor on both of her sides with her fists, now screaming at the same time.

"I GOT MY PERIOD!"

Ohh, finally everything made sense...

Although this information made him immensely uncomfortable.

"Uhmm..." his voice cracked.

He got up and went to the bathroom only to come back empty handed. Of course he didn't have anything for her.

"I suppose it's the first time," he said, not knowing what to say.

She'd need to go to Tayuya for that.

"Let me help." He kneeled down again in front of her, trying to catch her eye.

To his surprise, she pushed him away, shouting, "No!"

"But you can't do it alone," he tried to hold down her arms, which were starting to feel less weak than before.

"No! I can totally manage it alone!"

"You need help!" he pressed the words again, taking a hold of her left arm.

"No! I'm fine!" she almost growled into his face, pushing him away again with her free hand.

He started to get annoyed and responded the same way.

"How the hell do you want to manage it alone? You'll need to go to Tayuya!"

His words reached her, and she suddenly stopped fighting him. She stared at him with wide eyes for a few seconds, her emeralds almost looking like they would pop out of her head.

Then her shock was gone, and she started laughing loudly and hysterically, falling half on her back, only her left shoulder was still in the air because he was holding it.

He didn't understand her mood changes.

Just what...?

She started to tear up from laughing so much.

"What is so funny?" he asked with narrowed eyes.

"I thought-" She cut herself off with another fit of laughter, which just annoyed him more.

"What did you think?" he hissed, though he wasn't sure that she even heard over all of the noises she had made.

"That YOU wanted to help me," she finally said after taking a deep breath, trying to stop her giggles, only to look at his face and end up on the floor again with more fits.

Wait, the way he worded it...

Oh god, it really could be misunderstood!

The realization hit him too hard.

And he ended up letting go of her arm because he himself had fallen on the ground, unable to stop the laughter that erupted from his throat.

Oh...this hurt.

For HIM to actually help her with that!?

By Kabuto's estimation, it took at least 5 minutes for them to calm down. Until then, every time they tried, just one look at the other person ruined it, and they fell back into laughter

Kabuto's chest hurt so much, and his cheeks and even his eyes.

Sakura was smiling at him while laying on the ground next to him.

Kabuto couldn't even remember laughing honestly, not mentioning falling into a hysterical laugh for minutes. Just what was Sakura doing to him?

When their eyes locked, he suddenly became very aware of their proximity. The cherry smell was in his nose, and he could almost feel the softness of her hair, so he cleared his throat, and sat up.

"Let's go to Tayuya," he said, not daring to look back at her.

On their walk to the redhead's room, he cursed at himself. Why didn't he prepare for this in advance, when he had been able to prepare for less likely things? Honestly speaking, he had forgotten about it.

But now he had to think of female things she might need.

Does she have creams? Probably not...

And what about shaving blades?

Kabuto had his own, but it was for his face...

Okay, they'd need to pick up more supplies on their way back.
