A guttural growl erupted from his barred teeth, his eyes a flurry of cold and angry emotion. His usual dark mossy green hair now had mad glints from the glaring sun above. The over sized sweater hung low on his chest, revealing a sharp angular collarbone. His usual outfit.
The mob of boys suffocating his personal space wore smirks and condescending smiles, as if they knew the boy would be beaten before they could 'cheese crackers'.
"What's wrong, scared of me? Don't worry. A lot of people are. But more are scared of you. I won't lie. But here's the thing, if I beat the crap out of you, I'll be king of the school. Not you," a blonde haired boy grinned. His face although bright and cheery, hid a dirty personality that he was known for.
"Aren't you going to do anything, Haruki-kun? This is getting boring!" One of the by-standing boys called out, causing a chain of similar complaints. "Come on! Don't let that sucker hold the throne."
Yamaguchi Tadaaki. Only an average ten year old at grade school, yet everyone knew of him. Even the oldest kids of the school knew not to bother the boy. They called him the underworld king of the school. Everyone who had come across him were either beaten up or sent to the hospital after a near-death experience. His bad reputation of swearing, smoking, violence, had only landed him in detention too many times. Even the teachers struggled to contain him.
Haruki's grin got wider and brighter - Tadaaki didn't think it could've been any more dazzling - and he threw a punch Tadaaki's way. The scowling boy glared up at Haruki; he'd blocked him in the instant his fist had flew out. The corner of Tadaaki's scowl turned up and he spun around landing a powerful kick on Haruki's back. There was an expected crack as the boy fell to the floor, a trickle of blood dripping from his mouth.
"Shut up, you stupid asshole," Tadaaki hissed, "You piss me off." Haruki ignored him and staggered towards Tadaaki, executing a drop kick. His overwhelming height helped but Tadaaki managed to dodge by a centimetre.
"Did you not hear?" Tadaaki's fist knocked Haruki from his feet. "I said you piss me off."

The bell signaled the end of their school day, as Yamaguchi Tadashistood up from his chair, packing up his stuff. He was determined to get to practice earlier than the earliest; he knew he was lagging behind.
After picking Tsukishima up from his class, which resulted in the blonde grumbling about the embarrassment all the way to the gym, they quickly changed into their gym clothes in the clubroom. Despite his determination, Hinata still managed to arrive there first.
"Ossu!" The ginger head called out from one side of the net.
He had a multicoloured ball in his hands and on the other side of the net; Kageyama. He wore his usual sour look. Tadashi always tried not to tremble when he saw the setter prodigy. But it had taken him too long to do so.
"Ugh. Those volleyball suckers really make me want to puke," Tsukishima spat quietly next to Yamaguchi.
The green head chuckled. "Tsuki. You're a volleyball sucker too, you know!" Tadashi pointed out. The smallest efforts Tsukishima made when he was fired up by the crazy duo had not gone unnoticed by Tadashi at all.
By the time Tsukishima and Tadashi had warmed up, the third and second years had already gotten ready. Just as Daichi called them in for a team huddle, Tsukishima heard a familiar ringtone.
"It's your phone," Tsukishima muttered to Tadashi, who immediate raced towards his bag. There shouldn't be anyone calling him at this time of day unless... Tadashi sighed as he answered the call.
It was a quick and stern phone call and Tadashi couldn't help but grip the hem of his shirt nervously as he walked towards Daichi. "Daichi-san? Sorry, I have to go pick up my little brother from school. Do you mind if I skip out on practice today?" He said.
Daichi sighed. "The second time this week! Gosh. Well, alright then. I can't stop you. Thanks for today, Yamaguchi," the captain nodded. Tadashi thanked him profusely and rushed out of the building. Recalling previous experiences, he knew that tonight would not be a great one. Even the bus ride there was bumpy.

"Thank you. I'm so sorry for the trouble. Thank you again for looking after him," Tadashi bowed, his hold on Tadaaki tightening at every second. Tadaaki could barely feel the blood flow through his veins; now he knew his brother was mad. Tadaaki could do nothing but stare at the ground. Ah, the familiar sight.
The woman teacher sighed. "No, I pity you. It must be hard to have a brother like him. I'm sorry," she said. The lady was a new receptionist, and already knew Tadaaki too well.
The younger boy could feel the hot tears pricking behind his eyeballs. It was always the same. They loved his kind, soft hearted brother and hated him. It was always- Tadaaki could feel blood flowing on his arm. He looked up. His brother's gaze had softened and there was even a small smile.
"Don't worry about little Tadaaki. He may be a bit of trouble, but he's still my brother. I wouldn't change him for anything," Tadashi said.
The Yamaguchi brothers left the receptionist speechless as they exited the grade school grounds. It was quiet; most of the students had already left, either with friends or family. Tadaaki always left school alone.
When they got on to the bus, Tadashi had to feel a little relieved at the lack of people around. They found a seat a bit further from the door and sat down when the bus lurched forward.
They shared a few moments of silence before Tadashi spoke up. "This has to stop, Tadaaki," he said. "Me and mum can't keep doing this."
The younger brother said nothing, as he continued to make faces at the floor. Sometimes, it felt like the floor was talking back to him. Or maybe he was hallucinating after glaring at the floor for so long.
"Stop staring at the floor," Tadashi murmured.
"I don't want to look at anything else," Tadaaki growled, trying not to glare at his older brother. He wouldn't be able to anyway.
"Why?"
"Because," Tadaaki paused. "They're not worth it. It's not like they want to see my face anyway. Everyone. They all hate me." The last sentence was so soft that Tadashi found himself straining to hear him.

And... They were stuck outside. Climbing through the windows weren't an option either, unless they were prepared to break it and endure their mother's raging wrath. That wasn't even mentioning the bill.
Tadashi had fetched the first kit aid from his neighbours, promising their terrible personalities that he would return immediately. He rushed to his brother whose face was in between his knees as he sat on the lawn.
There was nothing but a giant cut on his forehead which had some dirt around and in the wound. Tadashi lifted his brother's head from his knees and started to clean the wound. It was large and stretched across his forehead, exposing a prickly and red gash. Tadaaki didn't see to be bothered by it, as if he was used to such injuries.
"How did you get this?" Tadashi asked. It wasn't like his brother to get hurt, even in a fight he'd lost.
"They threw a rock at me," Tadaaki reluctantly muttered.
Older Yamaguchi raised a curious eyebrow. "Is that allowed?" Even if Tadaaki got into a lot of fights, Tadashi could never get used to it. He would never be able to, period.
Tadaaki almost laughed. "Nothing isn't allowed. You can do anything. It's not a competition."
"Even if you tried to explain a fight to him, he'll never be able to get it," a blunt tone came from nowhere.
"Yeah, I really don't take him as a fighting type..." Another voice said in agreement.
"Come on, guys! If Yamaguchi wins at something I'll give anyone a hundred yen!"
Tadashi turned around, shocked. He was immediately confronted with his teammates. Now that he thought of it; practice would've ended already. Tadashi did nothing to hide his stunned expression. "What are you guys doing here?"
The only response he got was a bag, thrown at him. A very familiar one too... Oh right, he'd forgotten his school bag. That's where his keys went. Apart from this, all eyes were on his broken little brother.
"What the **** are you staring at, you shit?" His sharp voice seemed to cut the air. This brought some sense back into the confused Karasuno boys. This was supposed to be Tadashi's little brother? Pinch me please.
"So I guess lil' Yamaguchi got suspended again? Pathetic," Tsukishima smirked at the smaller green haired boy. It wasn't unusual for him to see Tadaaki suspended. He seemed to be at home every time Tsukishima visited the Yamaguchi house.
Tadaaki tried to ignore the usual snarky comments that Tsukishima always managed to come up with, but a hint of a scowl couldn't disappear from his face. "Shut up."
Tanaka, Sugawara and Nishinoya were gaping, and then they fell to their knees and started to fuss over the young boy. "Are you okay there?! What on earth happened to you?!"
"Yamaguchi! What have you done to him? And I always thought you were a nice kid..." Nishinoya tutted. He tugged at the bandage. "Huh? Okay, well the bandaging isn't bad, I guess..."
Tanaka shook his head disapprovingly. "Who did this to you?! I'm gonna beat them to pulp!" Tadaaki tightened his jaw. Beat them to pulp? He stood up and walked into the house, which Tadashi just managed to unlock. People was always looking for a way to beat him to pulp but it was pointless and ridiculous. This friend if his brother's shouldn't even try. He wasn't worth fighting for.
Just as he was about to slam the door behind him, he noticed a familiar hand wrap around his arm, halting him. "I don't hate you. And they don't hate you either. Tadaaki, how did you get into that fight?" His team may be watching, but he trusted them.
Tadaaki's eyes widened a bit. What- He scowled. "They were trash-talking you," his voice cracked. "I couldn't do anything." A tear fell from his dull eyes.
Tadashi didn't know what to say for a moment. Sure he'd come across bullies, but none through his brother. Then he smiled, "Hey, you just do you and I'll look after myself, okay? You don't have to worry about me."
Daichi nodded at the back. "Your brother has great senpais looking out for him, alright? You don't need to get into fights for him. We will do that," Daichi grinned. "Like this big guy," he slapped Asahi's back and the tall third year tried not to wince. "He'll take on any fight!"
"Me too! I'll fight for you, lil' Yamaguchi! Are you sure the bullies aren't related to Kageyama? Cuz he's a jerk!" Hinata said.
"Shut up, dumbass," Kageyama grunted, pulling the back of Hinata's fluffy ginger hair and causing the shorty to yelp in pain.
Tadashi's mouth twitched at the corners. His team was just too good to be true and his brother... He turned his head, looking for Tadaaki's eyes. They were tearful, but unlike normally, there were a few glints of joy. Tadashi put his arm around his brother. "Cheer up, gloomy-pants."
Tadaaki smirked. "Nii-san.."
