It was late at night. No one was awake. He was creeping around the house, making not a small creak or whimper. He had to make sure he didn't get caught. He had to. What he didn't know, was that he wasn't alone.

Coming into the room, and closing the door ever so quietly, he looked around. It was too dark to see anything. He switched on the lights, and saw the other person, startled, staring wide eyed and terrified.

"Cubby?!"

"Jake?!"

"What are you doing awake at this time of the night?" Jake whisper-asked.

"I could ask you the same thing, ya know" Cubby hissed back.

"You scared me half to death" Jake started.

"You scared ME half to death"

They stared at each other for a while, before they burst out laughing.

"You're crazy..." Cubby choked out, between giggles.

"Shut up... We'll wake the others" Jake laughed, wiping tears from his eyes.

"So, what were you actually doing up?" Jake asked, slopping onto the sofa.

"I came out to get a midnight snack" Cubby replied.

"No way, me too" Jake admitted.

"Skully's in bed sawing logs" Cubby said.

"Yeah... Haha... But Izzy could wake up any moment" Jake warned.

"She's a light sleeper" Cubby stated, thinking of all the times a small noise woke her up from her slumber.

"Yup, she sure is" Jake agreed. He was thinking about how grumpy she would be if she was woken up in the middle of the night.

"So... What were you going to get?" Cubby asked, walking to the pantry.

"Those rice krispie treats that Skully was talking about" Jake replied.

"Oh, you mean the one with white chocolate at the bottom?" Cubby asked, taking a box of the said treats.

"Yeah those. What're you getting?"

"I'm making coconut mixed with jaggery powder" Cubby replied, taking out the ingredients for his midnight snack.

"Simple and tasty" Cubby said, taking the coconut shavings and putting it into a bowl.

"What would be the ultimate midnight snack, though?" Jake wondered out loud.

"Good question... Something sweet would be good..." Cubby said, looking at the list of potential champions of midnight snacks.

After a while of thinking, he decided to actually test things out in the kitchen. With Jake's help, he got out loads of goodies that would make your mouth water. Minutes turned into hours, and soon it was time for sunrise. But, the two troublemakers didn't notice the time passing at all. Another thing they didn't notice was the mess they were creating. Flour all over the kitchen counter, bits of chocolate all over the floor, and crumpled pieces of Skully's crackers everywhere.

At a time between 4 to 5 a.m, Izzy heard pans clattering and people speaking and laughing. The first thought that came to her mind was, "Thieves?". She grabbed her dagger, and starting walking to where the sounds were coming from. Praying to God that it was just her imagination, she opened the door to see two people in the kitchen, stealing... food items?

Now, if someone suddenly opened the door to your room at 3 or 4 a.m, you would freak out right? Especially if that someone was wearing a white night gown with red polka dots that kinda looked like splatters of blood, and if that same someone's hair was all over the place and if they were carrying a dagger. So, it was natural that Jake and Cubby started screaming their heads off.

"AAAAHHHH! Ghoooosssstttt!" Cubby screamed, as he started running for an exit.

Jake started to reach for his sword, only to realize that he was in his pajamas, and he didn't carry his sword with his pjs.

"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Please don't kill me, I've been a good child all my life. Well, except for that time when I poured ice cold water on Izzy's face, or that time when I scared Cubby into hating petunia flowers, or that time when I pranked Skully by pretending to be the yak-yak monster... But other than that, I'm really nice!" He begged.

Now, imagine. If you were creeping around your house thinking that some burglar had broken into your house, and you enter a room of people "stealing" things, and they look directly at you and start screaming "GHOST! GHOST!", you would be scared too, right? Well, Izzy was too. So amidst all of the boy's screaming, Izzy freaked out and started screaming too.

But then she realized who these "thieves" were, and said.

"Shut up! It's me, Izzy!"

"Oh. Izzy! Thank goodness! We thought you were a ghost" Jake said calmly.

"Oh really? I didn't know" said Izzy, her usual sarcastic tone present.

"Can I come out now?" Cubby asked from the pantry.

"Yes, you can, Cubby" Jake replied.

"What were you two even doing in the middle of the night? And what's this mess in the kitchen?" Izzy asked angrily.

"Uh well... You see..." Jake started to explain. Well, he was hoping to not have to explain to Izzy, because he thought all of this would seem silly to her.

Hearing all of Jake's stuttering, Izzy got annoyed and said. "You know what? Forget it. I'm too tired to deal with this right now. Go back to sleep!"

"Yes, ma'am!" the two said, following her back to the bedroom.

And just so you know, Skully slept through all of this.

Author's note:

Hello dear adventurers! Been a week, hasn't it? Don't worry, I feel very guilty!

Another one-shot! Thank you so much for reading and very sorry for not updating! But right now I have a week off, so I'm planning to get some writing in! Can't wait! Man that's a lot of exclamation marks…

Just so you know, both the snacks mentioned in this fic are some of my favorites too!

If Izzy seems like a party-pooper, she's not I swear… She's just… the mom friend who is secretly just a dorky as everyone else. At least, that's what I imagine.

Thank you so much for the reviews, Yavuz and TheMonsterUnderTheCouch!

Thank you so much for your kind words and understanding Yavuz! I'll never forget this support!

And thank you too, TheMonsterUnderTheCouch! Tbh, I'm also kinda surprised that I'm still writing for JATNLP. But I guess that all the fantasies I've thought up in my mind have kept me in! I'm really glad that you like the world- building! Thank you for reviewing!

See you next time, and until then, good bye!
