Rukia woke up with a start. She clenched her head as she woke
"I…feel like I woke up from this really long dream…"she muttered. She looked around to see herself on a futon in a small room. She didn't see anyone in the room. She slowly tried to get up to walk, but her legs gave way and she fell to her knees on the wooden floor.
Renji seemed to hear the sound of her hitting the floor, as he then slid the door open and held her in support.
"Take it slow, Rukia…don't rush it yet…"
"I..I had a really weird dream Renji. Apparently I have to supervise a dangerous mass-murderer named Eren Yeager who was promoted to a Shinigami by Lord Enma. Looks like my head's really messing with me these days…heh, heh…"
Renji slightly bent his head to look at the ground, his fists clenched
"Rukia…about that…" he looked at her with a helpless face
Rukia began to realize the situation "Don't tell me that it's actually…"
"Unfortunately, it's true. I'm sorry, Rukia" he held her wrist in support
Rukia then stayed still for a few seconds. She then sat on her knees and clenched strands of her hair
"W-What the fuck is going on here Renji?!"
"Trust me all of us are thinking the same thing. Everything was over before we even realized what the actually happened. Right now, Ichigo and your brother are off to tell the rest of the Soul Society of the news. Toshiro and Rangiku accompanied the commander to the meeting with the other commanders. Captain Ukitake went with them as well."
"I see…" she said as she growled as she continued
"That monster…what does you think he's playing at?! Choosing me out of the blue like that?"
"I…I don't know…hopefully we'll find out before he does something…all of this seems totally confusing at the moment."
Rukia then seemed to remember something.
"What about you? Nee-sama didn't give you any responsibilities?"
" I…I stayed back to look after you…" he said with a slight blush as looked away, playing with his long hair.
Rukia gave a light smile at this with a slight blush of her own
"Oh…T-Thanks a lot, Renji…that's really nice of you…"
Renji gave a light smile. The two looked at each other for a few minutes in silence. They snapped out of their trance when they heard the door slide open. They looked at it to reveal Byakuya with his usual stoic face.
"Captain." Renji recognized him
"Nee-sama." Rukia called him
"I went and spoke with the Commander about Eren Yeager…to make Lord Enma try and reconsider his decision about you…but he's very adamant about going with his terms…"
Rukia and Renji furrowed their eyes
"What does the guy have against Lord Enma that he listens to every whim?"
"I don't know…looking at this…I didn't seem like Lord Enma had a secret…he seemed to be genuinely trying to help him, but Ryuji Shino has one…and Lord Enma knows about it…and he seemed to be really angry with him about it. I'm not sure if Eren Yeager's using that as leverage, but that's what we know for now."
"How did the others in the Soul Society take the news?" Renji asked
"No one's able to process it, much less accept it. To allow a unprecedented sinner like him train as a Shinigami, it's…not just unreasonable, it's madness. "
Rukia got up with a scowl on her face
"Rukia…" Renji looked up at her as she stood
"Nee-sama, can I see Eren Yeager in prison now?" Rukia asked
Byakuya looked down with his usual face and said
"Since we have no other option at this point, you might as well do so."
Eren was in the prison, lying on the brick inside the prison, looking at the ceiling. Various thoughts and memories passed through his mind. The Rumbling, his first (and last) kiss, his death, the trial, him becoming a Shinigami…a lot has happened to him in the past week…if time actually worked in this place. While his mind was filled with all this, he heard a clang of the metal bars on wood
"Oi…someone's here to see you." The guard said as he stared at him in anger and interest at the same time
Eren got up and looked behind the bars to see Rukia and Renji with folded hands and deep angry glares at him. Eren smirked and went up to the bars
"Well, Well, nice of you to stop by…Boss." He said as he looked at Rukia
"Don't. Right now, I really want to draw my zampacto out and pierce it through your heart for calling me that." She snarled
"But you can't, can you? Your orders were to train me weren't they?" he taunted her with a smug look
"Why you-!" Renji lunged forward with gritted teeth before Rukia stopped him by blocking his way with her hand
"Renji don't. I hate him too, more than you do, but that's not why we're here."
She then turned to Eren and told
"I came here to warn you. Believe me when I say this…I will break every fucking bone and muscle in your body during training until all that is left of you is a gooey mess for me to step on. I will make you regret the day you stated your third term. Withdraw your term of working under me by tomorrow morning or I'll make you wish you chose hell." She said in a cold and threatening way that made even Renji shiver. She has never seen her like this. But again, they had never thought they'd meet a man who'd kill 2 billion people in 4 days.
She turned around as she said in a firm tone
"If you chose me because thought I looked weak among the people in the room, I'll make you pay double for that choice so that you'd remember to never…ever underestimate a woman "
She then turned around with Renji when she heard him lightly laughing again as he told
"You're funny boss."
The two then turned around with a glare in their eyes
"What did you say?" Rukia growled
"I said you're a funny person…boss."
"Teme…" Renji growled as Eren gave a slight grin. Rukia then held his arm and nodded her head sideways, signaling Renji to not engage him any further.
"Renji we need to leave. Now." She said as she glared at the seemingly deranged man in bars
As they left the room, Renji slowly growled "I don't like this arrangement any more than you do, Rukia. I'll stay calm about this just because you are too. But I swear, the moment that guy tries to lay a finger on you, I'll fucking kill him in the worst way possible, no matter who comes in the way." He fisted his hand on Zabimaru.
Rukia walked forward with a stern look in her eyes as she thought of all that was going to happen.
