Chapter: 132
Collision course
Las Vegas, Nevada
Driving the monster truck Gordon Freeman had found as it had run out of gas, but came upon the outskirts of the ruined Las Vegas and so he got out as dawn has set in as the sun rises over the horizon, as he stands on top of a hill he can see Las Vegas is in ruins as if someone had attacked it. He figured that Aku creep attacked it with some overwhelming forces. He comes down from the top of the hill as the wind started to blow and sand is picking up a little bit.
He had found no combine activity at all, but there appears to be some sort of warlord to deal with a odd looking creature named Aku, the roads leading into the old Las Vegas city itself are cracked an decayed, with many cars destroyed and bones of the dead are still transparent all around. The people never stood a chance, but he looked around to notice the casinos are still intact, but with no one operating them they are in ruins as well. He pressed on to look for anybody.
Jack had come a long way as he knows this one-free-man enforcer of Aku is looking for him, this enforcer will be taken down like so many others. Why because Aku is too cowardly to face him, the wind started to blow and dust carried all around. He ignored that as he kept on moving and see this Las Vegas city before him, it looked lifeless as he sees a sign that reads Welcome to Las Vegas and sees another ruined sign call the Strip, the roads looked decayed and old.
Bones of people lay motionless as an old newspaper slapped him in the face as he takes it off of his face and reads the parchment as it details of Aku conquering the Earth and surrendering with little or no resistance. He crumpled the newspaper up and tossed it aside as his eyes narrowed with serious determination in knowing he must get to the past and all of this will be written in stone that Aku never conquered the Earth at all
Downtown Las Vegas
Gordon has been to many Las Vegas's in other dimensions as the city itself always looks the same with many minor differences, but overall it's a dead city with virtually nothing and kept on looking around for anything useful, he went into one casino as the slots still are operating after all this time and there is minor power as it must be from the Hoover dam that still supplies power to the city. He tried one of the slots and it hits the jackpot, what luck is that, but suddenly the building started to shake and Gordon exited the casino building.
It is collapsing due to the ruined stress and escaped with no injuries at all, well is would get anyone's attention if anyone is here, and then looking to his left someone is here or at least walking in a slow manner who is not in a hurry. He looked like an Asian man from Japan or China with white clothing, black hair and sword. Boy he does look out of place here, and then the man stopped and looked at him as Gordon noticed his face grew serious.
Jack wandered around looking for any signs of life or at least a place to settle down for a bit until he moves on to find this enforcer of Aku, he knows this Las Vegas is bizarre, with nothing that would interest him, the ground started to shake and rumble as a building nearby toppled to ground as dust, along with debris settled everywhere it is understandable these ruins are in decay.
Moving onward slowly he has a feeling he is not alone and turned to see someone else is there, he looks armored with a symbol upon his armor. Could this be the enforcer of Aku? As he did not know and his face grew serious, in which the wind is blowing a little bit once again as if it was an old western show down and a tumble weed blows between them as their eyes meet and stare at each other.
"Your not from around here are you," said Gordon
"By the looks of it neither are you," said Jack "Who are you?
"Gordon Freeman," said Gordon "And you are,"
"Jack," said Jack "Freeman as in one-free-man," as Jack draws out his sword "Enforcer of Aku,"
"Yeah people call me the one-free-man," said Gordon "Never met that creep before and I am no enforcer,"
"Lies, I have been tricked by Aku before," said Jack
Jack goes on the attack as he runs towards Gordon to stab him with the sword as he roars out loud, but Gordon muttered shields under his breath as Jack does several strikes fairly quickly with the magic sword, but to his surprise no damage at all and is met with a fist to the face from Gordon as Jack is sent back into a taxi cab that broke into pieces.
"Who knew it would be so easy to catch a cab," said Gordon
Jack regained his composure and then leaps up in the air to attack Gordon as the one-free-man draws out his omi-tool blade as both blades collide with one another, Gordon has his fair share of sword play as it goes on and one as neither one of them are giving an inch until Gordon tosses Jack into one of the ruined building as the samurai crashes into the wall. Jack walks out as he is furious at this
"Look I am not your enemy," said Gordon "So stop being a Jack ass,"
"I am called Jack," said Jack "But not this ass, but that will be my second name. Jack Ass"
Aku's palace
"Bah," said Aku "This battle is one-sided perhaps it is time to up the stakes a bit I will send my forces to help this one-free-man out,"
"Now, now Misster Aku," said G-man "They could join forces instead,"
Downtown Las Vegas
Jack and Gordon are battling some more until there is a hush silence at first and then both of them looked at their surroundings to see a black swarm is coming. Jack had seen this before as these are Aku's robots, Jack knew it. He knew this one-free-man enforcer is an ally of Aku and Gordon wondered where these robots have come from, they ignored Gordon and focused on heir target the Jack guy. He seems to be outnumbered; perhaps it's time to even up the odds.
One of the robots fired a missile right at Jack as Gordon got in front of Jack and the missile in which it exploded on impact as his shields held. Jack looked surprised in which he could be mistaken about this man. No enforcer of Aku is honorable and then he sees Gordon by way of magic bring forth some object as it is a gravity gun and used it on the old tanker trunk also as if by magic to hover it up in the air and threw it at the robots, they exploded on impact.
"Perhaps I was wrong about you," said Jack
"Truce," said Gordon
"Truce," nodded Jack
Then both of them face the robots together.
