Meanwhile at an unknown location, June 30th, 2018, 3:37 PM...
Fast shallow breathing. Eyes seeing pitch black but feeling incredible heat. Severe pain in the chest. Sounds of distorted gusts of wind. The feeling of falling at high speed. That was all Sonic could feel. He felt like he couldn't control his movements. He was paralyzed from the neck down but could breathe, barely though. He went in and out of consciousness. The cacophony of distorted sounds of wind got louder. Every once in a while, the loud sounds of lightning and thunder were heard. But every once in a while, the noises went quiet. Very quiet. So quiet in fact, it felt like the quietness of outer space. That, of which, occurs because outer space is a vacuum. But after what felt like seconds or minutes, the loud noises came back.
It felt like hours and days were passing through, hearing those same noises and suffering all that pain. Then all of the sudden, the gusts of winds became louder and louder and more distorted. Sonic started breathing faster and faster to the point of nervous hyperventilation.
But in the span of only a few seconds, the gusts of winds slowly became quieter until they went silent completely. Sonic still felt paralyzed but the heat in his eyes seized and the pain in his chest stopped. Sonic's ears were left ringing because of the sounds of wind. He still felt like he was falling. It still felt like hours and hours of falling in some unknown limbo. Suddenly, Sonic felt like his body stopped moving and was laying on some sort of surface. It felt like the ground was prickly and sharp but still soft in a way. It felt like laying on grass. He also felt like he was sitting on something straight like a bunch of long rectangles that felt cold and bumpy like old steel alloys. It was like laying on railroad tracks. It felt very uncomfortable. The heat in Sonic's eyes came back but the pain in the chest didn't.
Sonic didn't feel like his body paralyzed from the neck down. He slowly tried to open his eyes but couldn't since whatever it was that he was looking at was incredibly bright and blinding. But eventually he managed to open his eyes but at the cost of his vision being cloudy and blurry. But what he managed to see was that the ground was a very colorful and vibrant green, proving that he was indeed laying on grass. When his vision started clearing, he noticed that the other thing he was laying on was railroad tracks stretching a long distance away.
He tried to get up when he heard something strange behind him. It sounded like a horn of sorts. The horn kept honking and honking, but Sonic didn't know where the noise was coming from. He looked around but couldn't see anything since his vision was still blurry. But what Sonic noticed was that every time he looked behind himself on the opposite side of the railroad tracks that he saw first, the horn became louder and sounded much closer. Sonic managed to stand up and finally turned around behind him and saw something coming from far away.
But he couldn't see what it was because his vision was cloudy and blurry. But Sonic noticed the object got bigger and bigger by the second. When Sonic realized what it was, his vision went back to normal and the thing that was growing in size was a fast train honking its loud horn coming towards Sonic. Sonic let out a small yelp and jumped out of the way of the train. He landed on a patch of grass to the right of the train. The train kept going and it looked like it had many train cars attached to it. The train cars weren't for cargo but were for traveling since the cars had windows and inside it had what looked like rows of chairs. The train and the train cars were a somewhat dark red, black, and dark golden color. After 10 or so train cars, the train disappeared into the horizon.
Sonic stood up but stumbled a few steps backwards since he was disoriented by the stress he experienced by the train.
The blue blur caught his breath and said "Man, that was close. Now, I gotta get out of he-"
Before Sonic could walk away, he slowly noticed he was in the middle of nowhere.
"Where am I?" Asked the hedgehog to himself as he looked around the empty and grassy wasteland.
He was standing in the middle of what seemed to be an endless region of green and grassy plains. Sonic noticed it wasn't like a region of plains in Mobius. The grass in which he was standing on felt very soft but still prickly. The grass was an unusually bright and neon green color like it was from a colored cartoon drawing.
There wasn't a tree in sight. When Sonic squinted his eyes, in the distance really far away, he spotted a tall skinny mountain that was in the shape of a cylinder. The mountain was green with multiple white spots. He noticed that the "face" of the tall mountain had two vertical black sticks that looked like eyes. Sonic squinted and realized that the mountain indeed looked like it had eyes. Other mountains were spotted sporting the same features.
"Huh, I guess this takes "The Hills Have Eyes" movie to a literal level." Joked Sonic as he scratched the back of his head.
Nearby, there was another line of railroad tracks stretching for miles. Another train passed by on those same railroad tracks. Sonic looked down at his left arm wrist and saw that he still had his communicator watch. He turned it on and activated the hologram screen. With his right index finger, he tapped on the "Contacts" icon.
He tapped on Tails' name and the watch started calling him. A few seconds passed by and Tails wasn't responding.
Finally, a robot voice from the watch said "I'm sorry. Location services are not functional. Radio communications offline. The call couldn't go through."
Sonic raised an eyebrow and let out a soft "Huh?"
The confused blue hedgehog tapped on his other friends' names, but the call didn't work. Sonic scratched his head and decided to check the Google Maps app on the watch. When he tapped the icon, the app opened but couldn't display a map.
"You didn't hear me, didn't you? I'll tell you once more. Location services are not functional. GPS communications unavailable. Need I say more?" Said the robot voice in a slightly irritated tone. The robot voice was a sentient AI developed by Tails himself called "S.A.T.E.S.M" which stood for "Smart as the Egg Shaped Man." An unfortunate mouthful of a name but Sonic didn't complain since he respected his friend's fascination with acronyms. Even if he wasn't the best at making them. Even so, the meaning of the acronym was pretty charming.
Sonic lowered his eyebrows and thought "(I knew it was a bad idea for Tails to put a sentient AI helper with a sass level of 60% in this thing. Were text-to-speech pre-recorded messages not enough for that guy? He could've used the "Bob From Far Away" voice just for the chuckles.)"
Sonic turned off his communicator watch and looked around again. Sonic did a double take when he looked at his left arm. Then his right arm. Then the rest of his body. He touched his nose and felt his teeth with his right index finger. He didn't know why, but the blue blur felt like he should have fresh injuries from what happened during the bank chase and...whatever happened after he visited the archive floor of the MNN building with Tails. His cuts disappeared, his nose was fixed, and his missing teeth were all mysteriously replaced.
That just served to make Sonic more confused. He knew that he got a nasty cut on his arm from Louis' knife, but he didn't know how or why he thought he should have other injuries. He tried his hardest but couldn't remember why or how he must've gotten those theoretical injuries. All he could remember was that he got those other injuries after his visit to the archive room. But what caused them?
As he continued thinking, Sonic noticed something that made him stop his train of thought.
In the distance in front of him, he saw something bright that was incredibly faraway that was reflecting a lot of light straight into his eyes. Before he could continue moving forward, Sonic was startled by a train passing by.
Sonic stared at the train for a few seconds then said "Well, might as well save my leg energy. As well as to start investigating where the hell I am."
Sonic looked at the strap of his communicator watch, and the straps had a rectangle design like storage compartments of sorts. He opened one of the compartment rectangles and took out a strange-looking device that also looked kinda old. The device was shrunk down to the size of an ant inside the compartment but once it was taken out, it reverted back to its regular size. All thanks to nanotechnology. The device that Sonic took out was an MZ-S1 S2 Sports Net MD MiniDisc Player Walkman from the popular electronics company called Sony.
Nowadays, they go by the name Soni. Sony was their old name before the 21st century. He took out something else which was a small CD inside a blue case. It was the proprietary MiniDisc also made by Sony. It was also the special edition Hi-MD MiniDisc which had a total of one gigabyte of space and was able to store around thirty four hours of music.
The MiniDisc had a sticker label that said, "The Radical Mix Vol. 1." Sonic's Walkman was modded so it could play both normal MiniDiscs and Hi-MD's. Because normally, the vanilla version of that specific Walkman model could only play regular Minidiscs. Sonic opened the Walkman and put the MiniDisc inside. Sonic closed the Walkman then closed it as the nifty little device took very little time to read the data in the disc. Hundreds of songs were stored inside.
Sonic took out some Sony earbuds, connected them to the Walkman, and put them in his ears. Sonic started flicking the play button to the right and cycled through different songs until he stopped on one of the hundreds and hundreds of songs on the disc. A song started playing that was an old but popular song called "Jump" by the band Van Halen.
The song started with opening synthesizer beats that Sonic started bobbing his head to. Suddenly, another train passed by, but the blue hedgehog started jogging towards it and then started running full speed at it. Since the train was only going less than two hundred miles per hour, he managed to catch up to the train in no time flat. Sonic ran right next to the train while listening to his Walkman. Inside the train, there were many unknown creatures inside that Sonic had never seen before.
Sitting in a seat just right next to the window was a weird kid that was in the shape of a green kidney bean. He was wearing a blue long sleeve sweater with buttons, black jeans, and black shoes. The bean kid looked out the window and saw Sonic running right next to the plane. Sonic and the bean kid's eyes met, and Sonic waved his hand at the kid and the kid waved back.
Sonic started running faster until he noticed that a few miles away, the grassy land ended into a large sea. He ran ahead of the train, crouched, and then jumped on top of the train. To save on leg energy, he sat down and continued riding the train. The train tracks continued since there was a bridge built into the ocean.
The train continued moving through the sea. In the middle of the bridge, a large ravine that was there had made waterfalls on both sides of the ravine. The train moved along the bridge as Sonic stared at the double waterfalls. After clearing the ravine, the train made it back to dry land on the other side of the sea.
The environment changed to dark green grassy plains and large dark green trees appeared. Multiple canyons, valleys, and regular mountains appeared. Some trees had weird-looking acorns hanging on the branches. Very cartoony-looking flying squirrels were seen flying through grassland. Nearby, a large yellow-sand desert was visible with multiple sand dunes. A large coastal area appeared as well with a few visitors swimming in the ocean and sunbathing on the sand.
The train then went through a dark forest with exotic plants and creatures. Suddenly, Sonic whiffed an incredibly repugnant smell which made him cringe and then gag. Sonic squeezed his nose to avoid smelling the same disgusting smell.
The smell seemed to come from ponds and streams of an unknown purple liquid.
"(Oh god, what the hell is that?! These ponds are filled with some weird purple liquid. What is that, poison?! Ugh, this world sure has some bad apple places.)" Sonic thought as he continued squeezing his nose.
The train made it out of the forest and started going through a tall mountain range via a bridge and entered a cold, snowy area. A light snowstorm had Sonic completely covered in snow. Below the bridge were people dressed in thick fur jackets playing with the snow. Sonic shook his head to shake off the snow and started shivering.
"(O-O-Oh g-god, I-I am f-freezing my a-ass off h-here. N-never thought i-it would t-this c-cold. H-Holoska was n-never this c-cold.)" Sonic thought as he kept shivering and blowing hot air into his hands. His teeth chattered so quickly that Sonic thought his teeth would shatter into a hundred pieces.
The train again made it out of the area and ended up in a gray mountainous area that was filled with caves, canyons, and, you guessed it, mountains. When the train went into a cave, a few rocks popped off of the ceiling and Sonic tried ducking to avoid the rocks but one of them hit him in the head. Train finally made it out of the cave and made it out of the biome. Sonic was very fascinated by the incredibly diverse biomes he witnessed. He looked around very fascinated but then noticed something really far away. It looked like another mountainous region, but it had small lines of orange lava-like liquid and what seemed to be volcanoes. The volcanoes were exhaling large clouds of black smoke. The sky in that area seemed darker due to the smoke clouds
Sonic brushed it off but out of the corner of his eye, he noticed deep inside the volcano region, there was a large building that looked like a black abandoned castle. He tried to look closer, but he just shrugged his shoulders and brushed it off.
Probably nothing special, huh?
In the distance and peeking out of the horizon, a large castle appeared. The bright light was coming from a very reflective flag on the top of the castle. The flag had the drawing of a mushroom on it. Sonic's eyes and mouth widened because of how amazing this new place was.
Multiple houses and large buildings surround the castle. The houses had roofs with the shape, color, and spots of the fly amanita mushrooms, also known by its scientific name "Amanita Muscaria."
The citizens of the place were little people whose heads also look like fly amanita mushrooms varying in different colors. They wore vests of different colors, white pants that somewhat look like diapers, and brown shoes.
Sonic raised an eyebrow and thought "(Huh, never seen people like that before. They look kinda adorable though.)"
It was a large kingdom with multiple neighborhoods, hundreds of houses, and the large castle. The castle was red and white and was at the edge of a coastal area in front of a large ocean.
The train continued moving through the railroad tracks, moved through the various neighborhoods and houses until it reached the train station. The doors on the train opened and the travelers walked out. Sonic jumped off the top of the train just as the song ended on his Walkman. Sonic took off his headphones and pressed the play button to pause the Walkman then put away his handy music playing device into his watch compartments.
Sonic started walking through the train station. Every single living being in the train station were the mushroom people, aside from a few bean people. They were all very short, short enough that Sonic looked like a giant there. They were all maybe 3 or 4 feet tall. Felt unusual since Sonic always felt like a dwarf whenever he walked among humans in the human continents. Usually because humans were around 5 or 6 feet tall. Some were even taller. Then there was Sonic standing just shy of 5 feet. Everyone ignored Sonic since everyone was busy talking, on old phone-like devices, or just too far away. The blue hedgehog looked around and saw many colors and sizes of the mushroom people as well as the types of shops in the train station.
There were restaurants, clothes shops, souvenir shops, and others. Sonic glanced at a few shops which had many things like overalls, syrup bottles, green herbs, mystery boxes, and strangely enough red mushrooms and green mushrooms. Sonic raised an eyebrow at the weird products they were selling.
"Huh, not many places that sell mushrooms of those colors. Cool." Said Sonic with a smile. Nearby, Sonic heard some screaming and turned around. A couple of two Mushroom people, one red and one purple, were screaming for help because a Mushroom guy with black polka-dots on his head stole their bags. He wore a smaller version of a black leather jacket and black jeans.
"Somebody, help! He stole our bags! Help!"
Sonic squeezed his fist and murmured "Well, guess no matter where I end up, I'm still a full-time crime-fighter..." and started running after the robber.
The robber managed to make it out of the large exit of the station before he was tackled by Sonic and they both fell down to the brick floor. Sonic got up and noticed that the robber was unconscious and grabbed both bags. The couple was talking to a Mushroom guy, in what seemed like police security guard clothes and was a dark blue mushroom head, who was writing in a notepad about the description of the robber. Sonic walked back in the station holding the bags.
Sonic called out "Hey bud! Here are your bags." And threw the bags at the red Mushroom guy.
The red Mushroom guy caught the bags and said "Hey thanks, pal. Man, you sure are a fast one. It's like you tackled him in the blink of an eye."
Sonic chuckled and responded "Oh ho ho ho ho, you have no idea, man. And you're welcome."
The blue blur was about to walk away when he asked the Mushroom guy something.
"Hey dude, this may seem like a dumb question but, I'm a little new here and I know this may sound like I've been living under a rock but, what should I call you guys? You know, everyone here. For example, species names?"
The red Mushroom guy said "Ah don't worry. Just call us Toads. I know that may seem like a dumb name but don't worry, you'll get used to it. If you're new here, welcome! You'll definitely enjoy being here!"
"Another thing, what's this place called again?" Asked Sonic again.
"You're in the Mushroom Kingdom, man. The land of the Toads. The people of Princess Toadstool! You just moved here or you're just visiting?" Said the guy.
Sonic answered "Well, yeah I'm visiting. Don't know how long though. Man, this place is big!"
"You bet, one of the richest and biggest kingdoms on the planet. By the way, here's a reward for your good acts. Anyway, gotta go now, bye!" The mushroom guy said before walking away with his wife and tossing a big brown bag at Sonic.
Sonic waved at him before turning around and grabbing the bag. Sonic looked at the bag and chuckled. He was rewarded with 100 coins for his act.
"Man, these gold coins look awesome. Heavy too. I wouldn't be surprised if these coins were actually made of gold just like rings in Mobius." Murmured Sonic.
Sonic puts away the coins, walks out of the train station then grabs a map of the kingdom. He is located in the southern part of the kingdom. Sonic looked around and saw hundreds and hundreds of Toads, houses, and colorful trees. The landscape and borders of the kingdom were incredibly big. Sonic smiled at the land and was excited to explore.
But that feeling of uncertainty came back to him. He never knew of any land on Earth called the Mushroom Kingdom, and he also somehow ended up in it. He knew absolutely nothing about species like Toads and all the others he could see roaming around the train station. Yet here they were, living life like normal.
The blue hedgehog once again tried to think back to what happened after he visited the archive room with Tails. He remembered his best friend telling him about the newspapers and news reports from the same day or after Shadow's mysterious disappearance. He grunted as he struggled to remember what happened afterwards. He felt like there was a big gap of time between searching the archive room and arriving in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Sonic shook his head and tried to forget whatever had happened then continued walking through the streets. Sonic was amazed at the beauty of the kingdom. There seemed to be colorful neon lights everywhere, people wearing neon clothes, advertisements for products, and music playing constantly. Aside from the Toads, there were green and yellow turtles as tall as Sonic wearing green shoes and coexisting with the Toads. They were called Koopas.
Sonic said to himself "This place looks awesome. It's like this place is in some 1980's time warp or something!"
There were little Toads throwing newspapers while riding bikes, like paperboys. Blue payphone booths were prevalent, phone books, old cars, among other things. There were music stores that sold cassette tapes and cassette players that had bands like Cheap Trick and Loverboy playing in the background on repeat. It was like traveling back in time thirty-something years ago. Or ending up in a fantasized 1980's culture world.
Sonic sat down at a bus stop to ride a tour bus around the city to not attract too much attention when he heard distant sounds coming from a few streets down. It turns out that the sounds were gunshots coming from a white van being chased by police cars. The sounds came from guns used by bank robbers.
Sonic stood up from his seat, said "Second bank robbery today. Well, why not?" And dashed towards the van in the blink of an eye with the police following in the process.
When Sonic ran past a small alleyway, there was a gray trash can sitting there. But suddenly the trash can jumped in the hair and started hovering 5 feet in the air. The front of the trash can revealed two small and red eyes, which looked robotic and also looked like a camera lens.
The trash can then broke apart, but it put itself back together into a robot-looking machine. It was spherical with the large red grid eyes of an insect and had tiny wings on its sides to help it fly.
On both sides, it had a big red logo that was the cartoon drawing of the head of an overweight man with goggles, glasses, a very long mustache, and a big cartoon smile. The robot activated a sort of light reflecting tech and turned invisible. The robot came out of the alleyway and started following the van, along with Sonic.

Hero Story
Chapter 5: Am I in the wrong generation?
A few streets away, just outside an apartment building, two middle-aged overweight men came out the door, walked down a short flight of stairs, and walked towards a van that belonged to them. The two men were wearing neon blue overalls and wore brown dress shoes. One of the men wore a red shirt underneath the overalls and wore a red hat with a white circle on the front with a red M in the center. His brown hair was curly, and his mustache was a dark brown, darker than his hair. He stood at exactly 5' 1" or about 155 cm.
The guy besides him wore the same brand of overalls and dress shoes. But he wore a green shirt under his pair of overalls and wore a green hat with a white circle in the front with a green L in the center. His hair was curlier than the red guy, but his mustache was straighter than the other guy's. The green guy was way taller than his red brother, standing at about 5' 8" or about 176 cm. They looked like they were of American/Italian descent.
They were both carrying boxes of tools, both colored green and red. They also had green and red plungers under their armpits. They were plumbers who were hired to deal with a plumbing problem in some poor sap's house. To be exact, a clogged toilet, faucet, and bathtub.
They continued walking to their van, which was brick red and was labeled on each side "Mario Bros. Plumbing. You clog 'em, we clear 'em!" with red and green letters and funnily enough, a retro looking font from the 80's. They started up the van and drove away from the apartment building, their van hiccuping some smoke from the exhaust.
The red guy inside took off his hat, wiped sweat off his forehead, revealing his curly hair, put his hat on again, and said in a light Italian accent "Mamma Mia, this was a mess. The toilet was easy to fix. The idiota flushed a whole year's worth of baby wipes. Does he not know the "Flushable" label is a whole lot of merda? The faucet was filled with random hairs and dried-up hair paint. Apparently, his emo teenage son paints his hair twice a month. Oh, and the bathtub. Gesu Cristo, the bathtub. It was completely clogged by disgusting hairballs and I think I smelled some pisciare in there. But I gotta admit, his apartment kinda reminded me of Papa and Mama's old apartment in Brooklyn."
The green guy driving the van responded in a lighter Italian accent "It wasn't that bad. Remember a few years ago when some poor paisano's toilet exploded? We needed like 20 baths after that. We smelled worse than being skunked at point-blank range by a skunk."
"Ugh, don't remind me, bro. Even so, the guy could have handled it better so he wouldn't have to deal with those problems in the first place." The red guy said.
The green guy replied "Mario, remember the true advice of a plumber, 'Sometimes plumbers install hot tubs, sometimes they unclog toilets.' It's in the plumber bible."
Mario, the red guy, said with a sigh "Alright, I get it, Luigi."
They drove through a few streets for 6 minutes until they finally got to an old warehouse from the 1980's. There were other plumber vans parked outside. Mario and Luigi parked their van and entered the warehouse. The warehouse was a big office complex with other people inside. Some were plumbers and some were reception workers, informing any plumbers of calls to attend to.
A plumber, who's shift ended just seconds ago, was about to exit the building when he saw Mario and Luigi.
He started talking to Mario in a heavy German accent "Oh hey Mario, I was about to exit the warehouse and go home. Scheisse, it's been a very slow day, Mann. It's like people don't clog their crappers as much as they did before. See you Monday."
Mario shook his hand and responded, "See you next week, Karl."
Karl walked away and the two brothers continued walking through the building. They greeted the other plumbers while walking by. A large majority of them were immigrants from all parts of the world, mostly from Europe.
They made it to a door labeled "I Capi," which is Italian for "The Bosses", and entered the room. Inside were two desks. One was green with a green chair and green tools. The other was red with a red chair and red tools. Mario and Luigi sat down on the desks of their respective colors.
They opened the top left drawers in a synchronized manner and took out a large pile of papers. It was the bills, taxes, new employee resumes, paycheck booklets, and letters from friends and other businesses.
They took out pens, clicked them, and began writing. Funnily enough, the two brothers used pens of their respective colors, red and green. It was a very uninteresting activity, even for the brothers, they're just plumbers and they won't always be given money on a silver platter just for being buddies with the soon-to-be queen of the Mushroom Kingdom. They gotta pay the taxes somehow. But they were still bored by their current job.
But on Mario's desk, there was a police radio crackling out white noise aside from a mini boombox also on Mario's desk playing "The Man Who Sold The World" by singer Midge Ure, inspired by the same song by late singer David Toadwie.
The police radio was quiet for a few minutes until a voice came on yelling "All units, we've got a 10-35 on Miyamoto Drive through Iwata Avenue! A bank robbery has occurred in the Muscaria Stock Bank! The robbers have hopped on a white van with twenty million coins from the bank. I request setting up roadblocks and birds. Over and out."
The brothers quickly got out of their chairs and ran out the doors of the warehouse. Plumbers were alarmed at how fast they ran. They got into their van and sped off to the location of the robbers' speeding van. But while driving, Mario lifted up a panel below the radio and flicked a few switches. The logo on the van changed from "Mario Bros. Plumbing" to "Super Mario Bros."
Above the gearbox lever, there was a flap that Mario lifted up and pressed a button. The button was labeled "Mushroom Boost." Inside the van's hood, there was a secret supply of red amanita muscaria mushrooms stored in a bottle.
The mushrooms were boiled and melted then slid through a tube connected to the engine. The engine glowed red and the van's exhaust blew out hot rod red flames and the van sped off at blinding speeds. The white van kept speeding through the streets while being chased by a whole unit of police cars and a police helicopter following behind.
The robbers were shooting their guns, trying to fend off the police. The police were using weird-looking guns that looked like futuristic laser guns. One of the cops shot a tennis-ball-sized fireball from his red and green gun and started burning one of the rear wheels. The van started slightly zigzagging and losing control.
Luckily, the Super Mario Bros. van entered the chase from a nearby alleyway and began catching up to the van. The Mario Bros. van drove right next to the robbers' van. Mario tried ramming them from the side but the van barely budged. The robbers tried to shoot Mario but the van being rammed still made them lose control of their weapons.
Mario yelled "Take this, imbeciles!" and sped up his van to ram the other van harder.
The police continuously tried to shoot the tires of the robber van to slow them down and force them to crash. But the Mario Bros. ramming the robbers didn't give any chances for accuracy.
Anyone driving on the same street as the chase drove away to avoid being hurt in any way. The police kept turning on their radios to alert other units of the chase, in hopes of getting additional help.
The scuffle continued for a few minutes until Mario rammed his van one last time until both the robbers and Mario Bros. spotted an 18-wheeler hauling a fuel tank coming in from the intersection.
They were gonna crash straight into the fuel tank. The truck driver was so distracted by his loud music that he didn't even notice the two vans coming right at him.
Both the robbers and the brothers screamed at the top of their lungs "SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" as they used the brake pedal AND the hand brake to stop their vans before they crashed into the fuel tank and potentially died. But they were going too fast to avoid the fuel tank.
The police managed to stop their cars and tried to yell at the truck driver to get out of the truck before he died as well. The Mario Brothers and the robbers continued screaming as their vans were a foot away from crashing.
The song the trucker was listening to ended when he noticed the two vans coming at him and screamed in terror too. But in a split-second as if in slow motion, the two vans were rammed by something else.
A blue, spiky, glowing ball that left behind a trail of blue energy and released cones upon cones and gusts of blue colored wind, came out of the same intersection as the truck and quickly rammed both vans on their right side in one blow, spreading trails and cones of air on the skin of the vans.
The vehicles were sent flying to the left and crashed into a nearby restaurant, shattering the windows, the walls, some of the tables and one of the large spinning signs that said "Burger Chef", but luckily no one was hurt. The police were left dumbfounded by what they witnessed, including the Burger Chef customers.
The blue ball that rammed the vans landed on one foot and a knee. The ball manifested into a small blue porcupine with red shoes with white and gold buckles, white gloves, white socks, and big bright green eyes. The blue hedgehog's skin was blowing out quite a lot of similarly colored wind.
Some of the officers turned their attention from the wrecked vans to the hedgehog. Who was this creature? What is this creature? Whatever this creature was, they were at least relieved he prevented the two vans from crashing into the fuel tank.
The hedgehog dashed in the blink of an eye towards the destroyed vans. The robbers in the white van were mildly injured and groaned painfully. The van was on its right side and was dented everywhere. The blue hedgehog hopped on the driver door and looked inside. The robbers were still alive.
The blue hedgehog ripped out the driver door and threw out each robber individually. They landed with a thud as the police officers were amazed at the extraordinary strength of the tiny blue hedgehog, standing at about 2 or 3 inches shorter than Mario.
The robbers were, to the hedgehog's surprise, just short Toads, shorter than him in fact.
The blue hedgehog let out a chuckle and said "Hey, I didn't know Oompa Loompas could be bank robbers too. Sing me a song about chocolate and child murder why don't cha?"
The Toads still had their guns, so they pointed them at Sonic when suddenly when their index fingers were about to pull the triggers, the guns disappeared into thin air. The Toads looked around and then gasped when they saw Sonic juggling the guns in the air and doing a dance like a circus clown.
The Toads were about to tackle Sonic when they got tacked by hordes of police officers. Sonic continued juggling and actually got a little laugh from little toddlers in the destroyed Burger Chef restaurant.
The robbers were shoved in a police van with their hands behind their backs and hauled away to prisons.
Sonic looked on at the robbers being sent to jail and laughing before hearing a distant groan from one of the vans. Sonic dashed towards the two vans, dropping the guns, and tried to find the source of the groans.
Did the robbers kidnap a hostage? Is someone being crushed by the vans? Sonic panicked as he asked himself these questions.
When he checked the vans, he saw two plumbers, one red and one green, in their brick red van. They were alive but injured.
Sonic got on top of their van and since it was on its side, Sonic ripped out the driver door and said, "Hey you two, are you okay?"
The red plumber, who was Mario, replied "Y-yeah, *cough* me and my brother are fine. Could you, uh, get us out? We're a little stuck here."
Sonic nodded his head and started lifting the plumbers out of their van. Sonic planted them on the ground softly and blew a sigh of relief.
"Hey, just glad I came quick enough and saved you. The truck driver's fine. Just...a little shaken." Said Sonic, wiping his sweaty forehead.
Mario responded "That's good. Also, before you go, what's your name, son? Never seen a guy like you around these parts. Name's Mario, by the way."
Sonic smiled and replied "I'm Sonic The Hedgehog, pal. Nice to meet you, man."
Sonic noticed Mario's destroyed van and said "Hey uh, I-I'm sorry about the van. I would love to pay for damages but I'm a little short on coins at the moment. I promise I'll pay you off ASAP-"
Mario cut him off and replied "No no no no, that's fine, paisano. I'll pay for the repairs. In fact, I'm not exactly being paid minimum wage here. I think I'll be able to fix this ride even if it was completely vaporized. So, don't worry."
Mario looked at his van and continued "Now that I think about it, I do need some help. Flipping over the van."
Mario walked to the van and since the van was lying down on its right side, Mario set his hands on the right side of the roof and tried to lift the van up. The van barely budged. Mario used every bit of his strength to try to flip the van back on its wheels. Mario grunted every time he kept trying to lift up the van but failed again and again.
Mario and Luigi were sitting aside and said, "Hey bro, be a bro and help me flip this ride back on its wheels."
Luigi ran towards the van and helped to try to lift it up. But even with the strength of both brothers, they weren't able to flip the van. Sonic looked on with impatience, due to his impatient personality. He rolled his eyes at how long this was taking. He tapped his foot continuously, fooled around on his communicator watch, and even dashed inside the Burger Chef restaurant and dashed back out with a full course meal that included a double c'burger, french fries, and a chocolate milkshake.
Sonic squatted down and began eating his meal. While Mario and Luigi struggled to lift up the van, Sonic chewed on his cheeseburger and sipped on his milkshake. Even after 40 seconds, Sonic lost any remnants of his patience and even though he was halfway through his burger, he rapidly finished his meal in 2 seconds and dashed over to the van.
"I have to do EVERYTHING myself. Move over, plumbers, let the professional handle this." Sonic said in a frustrated voice. Sonic walked over to the van with angry, clenched hands.
Mario chuckled when Sonic pushed him aside and grabbed the van on its roof and squatted in the same place as Mario.
"Ha! No offense but what can a little guy like YOU could do-"
Mario was interrupted when Sonic threw the van 30 feet in the air and made it do a 360-degree flip over 12 times. Everyone, including the Burger Chef customers and the police officers, looked up at the rapidly spinning van. The van landed on its wheels with a loud and heavy clank. Everyone's mouths dropped and so did Mario and Luigi's.
Sonic looked at Mario and replied "That. That is what I could do."
Sonic wiped his hands and walked away. Sonic dashed inside the Burger Chef restaurant, paid the bill, and dashed back out.
He whispered in Mario's ear "You're welcome." and patted him on the back.
Everyone was shocked at Sonic's extraordinary speed and strength and he was just walking along like a Regular Joe.
Mario piped up and asked "Hey wait, how are you that strong? Seriously, that was spectacular!"
Sonic looked back and responded with confidence "You could say I inherited it. Been working for a long time actually. I've gotten stronger over years of work. And thanks for the compliment. If you ever need my help, just holler!"
Sonic cracked his knuckles and said to the brothers "Well, guess my business here is done. Got a long day ahead of me. See ya later!"
Sonic started jogging away until when he finally made it to the road, he began radiating blue gusts of wind from his skin and in a split second, he instantly sped up to at least 130 miles per hour and zoomed through the streets, leaving behind a trail of blue energy. On the way, Sonic burst out a large and translucent cone of wind, which resembled a sonic boom. Everyone except Mario jogged away in a bit of fear while the police got in their cars and drove away.
Mario looked on at the speedy blue hedgehog with a smile. Mario's got competition and he's happy. I'm a little jealous but still very happy. Mario looked back at the van and got on it, along with his brother.
Mario turned on the car with the twist of his key but when he pressed down the gas pedal, the engine sputtered continuously until the engine shut off and farted out a cloud of smoke from the exhaust pipe. Mario groaned in frustration and quickly got out of the van. Mario lifted up the hood of the van and a huge cloud of smoke covered his face, forcing him to start coughing.
Luigi got out of the car and asked Mario with a worry-filled face "Hey Mario, a-are you okay?
Mario stopped coughing and replied "Y-Yeah, I'm okay. Can't say the same for the poor van, though. Help me push this thing to ol' E. Gadd's garage. It isn't that far away."
Mario and Luigi went to the back of the van and began pushing it. The van started moving but very slowly at that. Mario and Luigi took breaks every couple seconds and continued pushing the broken van. They would kill to be able to be as strong as that Sonic guy. At least the van moved at all.
What a day. Mario and Luigi thought they would have a regular day but now they have some competition in the hero business. He may be small, but he is very powerful. But Sonic's mind wasn't really on his new acquaintances. He was still trying to figure out how he ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom in the first place. It's like something in his memory was intentionally taken out. Is it something to be concerned about? Is there something strange about the Mushroom Kingdom?
