Sorry if the chapter is a bit wonky. I am more doing pattern here so Gon and Killua fully get the Fairy Tail experience. But we are so close to get to the Chimera arc. Just 2 more chapters until they meet Kite. I can't wait and then after that now this fic will get 10 times more interesting. Now enjoy this one.
It was time to take Ging second task. Apparently this one was not that hard, just take out a hoard of wild giant beetles that are been decimating's crops of several farms of the kingdom, endangering the food supply.
Gon and Killua took the job but were required to have an active S class mage with them. Since Mira and Erza were busy, Makarov send Laxus with them to help in their quest. Laxus with nothing better to do he accepted.
Right now, the trio were walking in some woods towards the current location to where those giants' beetles were.
''Can we walk faster?" Asked Killua all tired.
''don't rush. Those bugs are not going anywhere. According to the pamphlet they tend to stay on one location for a year before moving out. This is their currently location, so we have plenty of time.'' Said Laxus
''Ok.'' Said Killua still wanting to rest.
Laxus was not in the best mood. He was walking with the grandson of the man who almost killed his grandfather and not like the others time that Makarov escaped death by luck, he said that Zeno was very closed to kill him off so that made Laxus a little bit uncomfortable, so he wanted to know Killua a little bit more.
''So, do you think we can defeat those things fast?" Asked Laxus
''Yes, I am pretty sure we can.'' Said Killua
''don't your nen can detect those things"? Asked Laxus
''I think so, but we are still very new to the whole concept of nen. It took us days of training with Bisky to reach the point that we are now, but we are still not near as a master of nen.'' Said Gon with a smile
''Also, even if we were master of nen it wouldn't make a different. Neither of our type is a locator of things. My lightning can't do that or Gon power so is still a no.'' Said Killua
''So, I am stuck with two brats with no great power?" Asked Laxus all pissed.
''Can your magic locate those things?" Asked Killua
''No, my lightning is not a bug detector.'' Said Laxus
''Ok.'' Said Killua
Laxus was still not sure what to feel. Out of the two Killua was the hardest to bond, he was kind of annoying and rude towards him. Sure, he was like that at his age, which made him realize what a pain in the ass he might have been in the past.
''Sorry Laxus. I know that you don't see Killua in the best terms because of his past as an assassin, but don't worry. He is a good person, just give him a chance.'' Said Gon.
''It's just that his grandfather almost killed mine. This is something that I can't shake it off.'' Said Laxus
Killua could sense what is the deal was with Laxus, was the fact that Makarov confirmed that Zeno almost killed him in cold blood. For something that happened so many years ago, Laxus seen more bothered than Makarov himself.
''So, are you still angry about what my gramps did to yours?" Asked Killua.
''My grandpa is the master of Fairy Tail which means he is the strongest mage there. Even stronger than Erza, Natsu and Mirajane combined.'' Said Laxus all produ.
'Yes, and my grandpa is the patriarchy of the entire Zoldyck family. I mean Grandad Maha is retired but he still active and he is not the same thing as he was. But mark my words Laxus…thank the gods that your grandfather is still alive after encountering mine.'' Said Killua all serious making Laxus a little annoyed.
''So, are you telling me that is luck that my grandpa survived?" Asked Laxus now angry.
''Hey, your grandpa is alive. If he could survive my gramps attacks, then he is someone I don't wanna mess with.'' Said Killua super serious.
''Yeah, the old man is the strongest person I ever know. He may see goofy but there is a reason why he is the master of Fairy Tail.'' Said Laxus
Gon wanted to stop this heated argument. Killlua was not as easy to make friends as Gon was with people, it was thanks to him that most times they weren't kicked out of places because of Killua impatience. Even though they were still just rookie hunters, Gon could tell that Laxus was someone pretty strong. He could give Hisoka a run for his money.
''Please guys, be a little patience.'' Said Gon.
The second quest was one that Ging also abandoned. Apparently, he and Gildarts caused lots of damaged and ran away causing more beetles to grow to the point that the quest became an S Class level.
''How is this extermination of bugs an S class mission?" Asked Killua
''Those beetles are like an army. They have shells sterner than iron.'' Said Laxus
''So, we are facing an army of super insects?" Asked Gon.
''Exactly. My lighting can fry them in no time so stick with me and nothing will happen.'' Said Laxus
''So, I guess we are going to follow all your lead today?" Asked Killua
''Yes.'' Said Laxus
Soon the trio reached the address in the pamphlet. It was a very vast open field and it looked like gofers lived nearby.
''Here we are.'' Said Laxus
Gon and Killua saw that the place looked like an abandoned farm and wonder where the people were.
''Where are the giant beetles?" Asked Gon.
''They will be only out of their cave when they go out to eat.'' Said Laxus
''When this will be?" Asked Killua
''Two minutes, according to the paper they only eat at 12:00 Pm and is 11:58 at the moment, so let's wait.'' Said Laxus
''The quest want us to exterminate them. I hope they don't make my clothes dirty.'' Said Killua
''don't worry Killua I´m sure that with Laxus alongside us we can kick those beetle's ass in no time.'' Said Gon
''You really need to stop hanging around Natsu and Happy.'' Said Laxus with a tired sighed.
Soon the time was about to happen as Laxus stay on front and Gon and Killua were right behind him.
''Here they come.'' Said Laxu looking at a watch.
''3…2…1'' Said Killua counting and the time was up.
Soon a hoard of giant beetles the side of cows got out of their tunnels and were now out to the world to eat a lot of crops and vegetation, making entire villages starve.
''AAAAAH!'' Said Gon in shock
''There are huge.'' Said Killua in shock
''Yes, that's why it's an S class level quest.'' Said Laxus
Soon the trio charged toward the beetles and they decided to fully attack them. Gon was actually having fun, having a little ´´insect rodeo´´ if you will.
''Wohoooo.'' Said Gon hitting the beetles on the top of their heads while Killua was using his nen
''Lightning palm!' Scream Killua shocking the beetles.
However, the plan didn't worked out because the shell of the giant insect was strong enough than a freaking rock
''Damitt.' Said Killua all pissed.
''Gon get out of those insects. I am taking over!'' Scream Laxus after beating another beetle.
''Sure Laxus.'' Said Gon going off.
Now that both Gon and Killua were in a safe position Laxus could concentrate and deliver his powerful attack.
''Show us what you got there.'' Said Killua and Laxus proudly show them.
''Lightning Dragon ROAAAAR!" Scream Laxus shooting out a huge amount of lighting and wiping out a bunch of those giants beetles.
Even Gon and Killua were amazed by this. So after that display of huge power most of the beetles retreat to their tunnels as Gon and Killua return to Laxus
''If you two are not playing serious about finishing that dead beat quest then get out here, because I can deal with all this.'' Said Laxus all serious
''What was that?'' Asked Gon.
''that's the power of an S Class Dragon slayer Gon, so if you want to keep helping out be useful and think straight.'' Said Laxus looking at the young hunter.
''Sorry.'' Said Gon
Laxus then took a time to breath and think on how to get rid of the rest of them beetles. He at least wiped out 25% of the hoard, what about the rest?
''So, any clues on to clear the field of those pests?'' Asked Laxus and Gon got an idea.
''How about we lured them to only one place that they can get out and then Laxus can use a bigger attack and destroy all of them in one turn.'' Said Gon.
That's seen like a nice idea and both Laxus and Killua seen to like it. Was easy and not so complicated.
Gon, Killua and Laxus then got into trying to make a great plan into luring all of the beetles towards their trap. They had found a cave and soon would call all the beetles towards here so Laxus could fry them.
''So, do you guys know the whole plan?" Asked Laxus
''I will distract them and lured them towards this place.'' Said Gon all happy
''Killua do you know that this is when you go on the back to make sure that no beetles escape or is left behind.'' Said Laxus
''Yeah yeah I know this.'' Said Killua annoyed.
''Then Laxus is going to electrocute them. But I still think Killua should help in that part.'' Said Gon.
''But our lighting is not compatible. I´m more advance while he still sparks.'' Said Laxus making Killua annoyed.
''It doesn't hurt trying to try. Come on Laxus, do this please.'' Said Gon with a cheerful smile.
''The kid is brighter than Wendy.'' Thought Laxus in shock
''Ok I will do but if this fail, I will blame on you.'' Said Laxus
Gon smiled at that and soon went to his position. He caused an earthquake with his Jajanken rock and soon all the beetles got out of their hide out and looking for the one that caused all that annoyance.
''Hey, I am over here!" Scream Gon luring the bugs towards him.
''They are coming.'' Said Killua seeing the hoard.
''So be ready and do your part.'' Said Laxus
Laxus then saw Killua going on the back of the hoard and doing basically the job of a sheep dog to make sure that the cattle doesn´t run out. While he was fine in his position Gon was having a hard time to escape those monsters.
''Arght!'' Scream Gon.
''Be strong!'' Said Laxus.
''S…u…re.'' Said Gon all tired.
Killua was on the back using little shock to make sure that no beetle was out and that was making him tired.
''Man, all this electricity is going to make me all tired. I´m gonna need extra chocolate tonight.'' Said Killua tired talking to himself.
''Here they go!'' Scream Gon making all the beetles entering in the cave.
The beetles were mostly on the cave, there were some out that tried to attack Gon and Killua. Laxus would take charge of the rest while the two would take care of those others that escape.
''You two are ready?'' Asked Laxus
''Yeah.' Said Gon and Killua all confused.
Gon prepared his attack while Killua charged up on energy to deliver those insect final moments.
''Show me Paper!'' Scream Gon releasing a powerful blast.
''Thunderbolt.'' Scream Killua eletrocutign the beetles.
They both managed to kill the remaining beetles and they were already super tired.
''Man, this is exhausting.'' Said Killua
''Let's see if Laxus needs help.'' Said Gon.
Laxus was now glowing in the dark of the cave thanks to his magic and he was luring the beetles right into his trap.
''Stay right here you filty bugs.'' Said Laxus glowing like a light bulbs.
Soon Gon and Killua was at the entrace of the cave where they saw Laxus doing his trick.
''What is going on?'' Asked Gon.
''He is attracting all of them towards his direction. His body emits lighting in the cave so they are lured by that.'' Said Killua
''Like moths with a night light?'' Asked Gon.
''Yes.'' Said Killua
Laxus then got the bugs in a pretty good position, good enough for him to attack and get rid of them and also be out of there.
''Alright here we go.'' Thought Laxus getting ready
''Lightinign Dragon Heavenward Halberd!" Scream Laxus releasing a powerful attack.
VROOOOOM
The thunderbolt was so huge that shook the entire ground that Laxus was standing as he incinerate all those pest beetles.
''AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!'' Scream Laxus in mighty glory.
Gon and Killua were astounded by this. If they thought Laxus was strong well they were right but also so much more, he was unlike any other fighter they had seen so far.
''This is insane. He can generate all this power!" Scream Gon in shock
''Tell me about. This make me feel weak.'' Said Killua
Laxus continued to attack as he tried his best to make sure that every beetle was destroyed.
''AAARGH!' Scream Laxus
The two then heard a lot of the beetles not only scream as they burn but also explode because of Laxus power.
Blop Blop Blop
Then soon the last thing that they expected happen, an enough pressure was made and a giant explosion made of the last beetles.
BOOM
A lot of beetle guts was flying everywhere in the cave but also lending outside which meant that Gon and Killua also got a lot dirty.
''Ew.'' Said Gon.
''There is soemthng that I didn't want to be covered today.'' Said Killua
Laxus stopped screaming as he looked at the almost destroyed cave and no signed of a beetle alive, all that was left was only ashes and rumbles.
''Huf Huff Huff.'' Said Laxus on his knee and lacking breath.
''Laxus are you ok?" Asked Gon helping the old man.
''yes, I got a little worked out, but I will live.'' Said Laxus
''Are you sure, you looked like used a lot of magic.'' Said Killua
''yes, just need some beer and some food and I will be ready. I am not Natsu, but his methods helps out.'' Said Laxus with a smirk
''Can't you eat fire like Natsu or Iron like Gajeel?" Asked Gon.
''They are first generation dragon slayer raised by dragons. I am a second generation thanks to a Lacrima that my bastard of a father implanted on me, I tried to eat lighting and is not that good for my stomach. In fact, it does nothing.'' Said Laxus.
Killua then got a little off after Laxus mention that he hates his father, the truth was Killua didn't hate his old man, but he felt that there was more thoughts that Silva wasn't letting him know.
''Boy that was insane.'' Said Killua all tired.
''Yes, I guess all S class are like this.'' Said Gon
''Not all S Class quest are about fighting things that can eat the world. Sometimes you need to use your head in some areas. Once there was a quest that was about solving a puzzle and nobody at the guild including the S Class mages managed to solve it. So, think again on what you are saying.'' Said Laxus
''Sure.'' Said Gon.
Gon liked that now there was only one quest left off from Ging list. He was closed to the next clue, even though none of the quest gave him any kind of sight of where Ging was, so maybe it was when the whole quests are done that the next location will be showed.
''let get back at the guild and celebrate.'' Said Gon ready to run but was too tired.
''don't go around running Gon. If you two don't get up I will leave you two here.'' Said Laxus
''You better wait for us too Laxus or else I will give you a fight that would make our gramps fights look like nothing.'' Said Killua with a smirk
Laxus then smirked at too. Killua was like him in some regard, sure he wasn't the bastard that he was seven years ago, but he can still see a lot of him in the ex-assassin.
''Sure.'' Said Laxus
The group took an hour of sleep then went to collect the reward and soon took off that quest from the to do list.
Fairy Tail
The guild was all excited that Gon and Killua managed to take out another S Class quest. It's been a while since so many S Class quest were finished, it seen like Ging like to start something and if doesn't caught his interest he would let someone to finish for him.
''One more to go.'' Said Gon all happy
''Just one more and you will meet your old man.'' Said Natsu.
''Yes, I can't wait to finally meet Ging.'' Said Gon
''Yeah, that's the spirit Gon.'' Said Natsu.
Killua was chilling on one of the seats and drinking a nice soda while seeing Gon cheering on with other members of the guild.
''I told you that is not healthy drinking soda all the time.'' Said Lucy with her arms crossed.
''But that's is coming from someone that drinks milkshakes all the time.'' Said Killua
''yes, but I work out to make sure I still have my good shape.'' Said Lucy all red.
''Stop trying to change me Lucy, you are not good at that.'' Said Killua
''Fine but if your teeth's rot don't come crying to me.'' Said Lucy.
''Sure mom.'' Said Killua and soon he got distracted over the thunder legion praise towards Laxus
''Laxus here is your favorite brand of beer.'' Said Evergreen pouring some beer in Laxus mug
''Laxus is the best.'' Said Bickslow
''Boy he sure has kiss assess.'' Though Killua
''Is anything that you desire Laxus-sama?" Asked Freed
''I don't know I guess more steak?'' Asked Laxus. At first, he liked to boss his friends but after the whole redemption thing he learned to appreciate them.
''We will be right back.'' Said the thunder Legion.
Killua ignore the Thunder Legion antics and soon would focus on getting this whole thing finished.
''I guess me and Gon should start to think of the next quest. Hey Lucy, who has all the flyers of the quests that Gon dad didn't finished?" Asked Killua
''Levy!' Said Lucy looking for her friend.
The blue haired mage soon appeared with the last flyer of Ging unfinished quests.
''Here is…the final quest of Ging Freesc.'' Said Levy
''And what is it?" Asked Gon
''Fix it and organized the entire Royal library of Fiore'' Said Levy
The entire guild was confused by this. Did it said fix a library?
''What?" Asked Gon.
''Fixe the royal library.'' Said Levy
''In a day?'' Asked Lucy.
''Yes, this is the deadline. Nobody ever fixed that place, so I am glad that is finally going to be done. The royal library is about 10 miles and it's a paradise for every book lover in the kingdom.'' Said Levy with stars in her eyes.
''Yeah I´m out.'' Said Killua much to the others shock.
''Killua please.'' Said Gon
''Fine.'' Said Killua changing his mind.
''Is funny how you do things as soon as he ask it.'' Thought Lucy
''You own me 2 boxes of chocolates dragons over losing a day in fixing an old library. Do you hear me?" Asked Killua
''Deal!"' Said Gon
''you shouldn't eat that much chocolate.'' Said Lucy still worried for Killua health.
''Oh, I not hearing that from someone who drinks daily milkshakes.'' Said Killua once again striking Lucy weak point only this time with an audience.
''He got you there Lucy. In fact, you are also getting a little bigger on the sizes.'' Said Natsu
''Shut up!'' Scream Lucy kicking Natsu in the face.
Gon then decided to change the subject and ask towards his friends something else.
''So how is your nen training guys?" Asked Gon.
''Still nothing.'' Said Lucy she felt a little thing overflowing but nothing yet.
''Nen is hard to conjugate. I remember that I got my magic pretty quickly with Igneel.'' Said Natsu.
''Yes, is not that simple. Is weird that magic is more easy to conjugate for you guys while Killua and I have no problem accessing our aura and we can't do any magic.'' Said Gon
''Or it could be that this nation is not that used to nen. I mean the others nations of the V5 have tons of nen users but no magical users.'' Said Killua making a good point.
''You right Killua, I guess since you two trained a lot over the past few months your bodies got used to the overflow of aura.'' Said Gray
''Our aura are more thicker thanks to Bisky training. Wing helped us a lot but he only showed us the basic. You guys would need a whole month of daily training with Bisky to get where we are.'' Said Gon.
''So, we better stick with magic for a while. If we ever go to your world, we can meet up someone that you two knows and he can gives us a tip or two about nen.'' Said Erza
''Erza is right. Sorry boys but in that case, I will be using my magic, but I will still try to practice my nen.'' Said Wendy.
''Right, knowing this place luck I guess is a matter of time for this to actually happen.'' Said Gon
''You never know with Fairy Tail.'' Said Happy
''Yes, I guess you are right.'' Said Gon with a smile as everyone laugh.
The group all had a really good time that night. They celebrated until after midnight.
Makarov was there observing the whole thing and that a smile on his face. So far nothing bad was happening towards his beloved guild.
''Boy this is going to get more and more interesting. I wonder how Ging is doing this day.'' Thought Makarov wondering how the hunter was doing. He also remember that he would give Ging a huge fist to the face for pretty much abandoning Gon.
At near the NGL
Kite and his team of possibility Hunter were observing the area near the supposed ant infestation. Those weird ants' colonies were appearing out of nowhere, they were ferocious and carnivorous but nothing than a few shoes and guns would do the jobs. Once they found the queen, they kill immediately but it seems that there were a lot of queens around these areas.
''So how is things so far?" Asked Kite
''Nothing good. These colonies keep popping up and I have never seen something of this manner before.'' Said Banana
''But we also need to considerate that their weird biology also plays a key factor in their constancy appearance.'' Said Lin adjusting his glasses.
''don't worry about that. I´m sure we can find a solution towards this problem, after all Kite sama is here. Speaking of which Kite-sama what do you think of this situation?" Asked Monta.
Kite thought about those ants every hour. It has been bugging him for most of the time, he still need it to make sure that he find the main queen wherever she was and exterminates her before she could make more soldier ants.
''These ants aren't something from around here. I wonder where they are from.'' Said him towards his team.
He then thought of something that just now come towards his mind.
''Could the thing be from The Dark Continent?'' Thought Kite in horror.
The young hunter heard tales about the dark continent from his master Ging Freesc. He told about that place like it was every hunter dream to go. A place full of wonder, horror and adventure but he also told Kite that if a monster from that continent comes to the V5 nation it could wipe out humanity as a whole.
''Kite are you ok?" Asked Spinner in worry
''Yes, I was just thinking of where those ants might originally come from.'' Said Kite
''What is the situation about that?" Asked Stick
''The worst situation. Let's pray to god that these things are not from where I am thinking they are from.'' Said Kite
'Should we know what place you are referring to?" Asked Podungo
''No, you guys are not ready yet.'' Said Kite
Kite leads his team to another section near the NGL where htye would explore and killed more of those damm ants.
While he was taking care of the smaller ants, the giant ones were making their move.
At the Chimera ant queen location
The queen was making more and more soldiers. They were making her anthill big enough for her huge colony but also hunting down all kind of huge beasts and wild predators to make sure she had enough to eat.
''I need more! More!'' Scream the queen as she eats all kinds of animals.
