Chapter 19: Once a ranger part 1.

Chelbell2016:

Got work this week but I hope to have this chapter up in the next day or so.

Courtney's POV:

We have been informed that Kamdor and Miratrix are causing trouble at a museum. As they head away we stop them. Of course they also have a monster with them.

"Going somewhere?" Will asks and I see Miratrix has a giant ruby in her hand. "I bet you're not just gonna give that back!"

"You bet right!" Kamdor growls at us before looking at his monster friend and Miratrix. "GET THEM!"

All of them run at us and we pull out our drive defenders. "DRIVE DEFENDER!"

I work with Tyzonn, Rose and Ronny and we begin to fight the monster. I kick him as Tyzonn turns to strike him and the girls cartwheel past him. Then Mack joins and both he and Ty attack him before I strike him with my weapon making him groan. He fires at Rose and Ronny but they do more flips to dodge them.

Tyzonn uses his weapon to finish off the monster.

"NO!" He cries out as explosions happen all around him.

We regroup with Dax and Will who had been fighting Kamdor and Miratrix.

"Enough of this!" Kamdor says and both he and Miratrix make an exit.

A few minutes later and we are all outside the museum. To protect my identity I have changed my looks slightly as after four ranger teams I am not as eager as the others for everyone to know who I am.

"We'll get this ruby back to the museum!" Rose says smiling as everyone cheers.

We take it back and then head back to Hartford mansion.

We are all back at the mansion and I am sat stroking Azantys as we all discuss being a ranger.

"You know I can barely remember what life was like before Operation overdrive," Rose says as Spencer hands out lemonade and I smile at him in thanks.

"Uh I can boring," Mack says and I chuckle at him.

"Not much different for me," I tell them and they all nod. "Ever since I was fifteen and a ninja its been ranger, take a break and become a ranger again."

"Well being a ranger is definitely the most exciting thing to ever happen to me," Mack continues and I wonder how he'll feel when our journey is over.

"I've gotta admit," Will says who is stood with Dax. "I thought my life was adventurous before but now its like... um..."

Dax finishes for him. "Something out of a movie!"

Everyone nods.

"Come on," Tyzonn says and I turn to look at him. "You guys are forgetting the best part about being a power ranger!"

Everyone looks confused but I can see where he is going with this.

"Saving the world!" Ty and I say at the same time.

Everyone cheers but then there is a beeping from the computer screens. We all race over to see what is happening.

"I'm Thrax!" A new evil guy says but he seems to have rallied all of our current enemies. "Son of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd and the orchestrator of your doom!"

"That explains why he's so ugly," I say before thinking about it. "Sorry mystic mother!"

We head into battle. Jumping out of the S.H.A.R.K. we land safely and head to meet all of our enemies at once. Well not all of mine because they're would be quite a lot more.

"Hey ugly!" I yell out and Thrax growls at me.

"What do you want?" Mack says to him.

"I want to be a part of the end of the power rangers!" He states and I frown.

"Oh really? Yeah, you know how many people have tried?" I ask him shaking my head. "Do the bad guys never learn?"

"CHARGE!" Thrax yells and all of our enemies charge at us.

We pull out our drive defenders and also begin to run towards them.

Mack and I take on Thrax. I dodge his weapon but get a swift punch to the gut, Mack runs forward and also dodges the Zedd staff but then he gets him on the rebound. I run towards him but he blocks my sword and strikes me up the chest causing an enormous amount of pain as sparks surround me.

As Mack and I regroup he points the staff at us and sends a blast. I raise a shield but something in that blast is fighting me. I feel my shield weakening.

"MACK MOVE!" I yell but its too late.

My shield shatters and the lighting hits both of us. We go high into the air and explosions happen all around us as we come back down. I land on a metal pipe and I feel it cut my stomach but my magic is weak and I am not healing. I cough and try not to cry out from the pain.

"Thrax was right!" I hear Kamdor says as I force myself to my feet. "Together we're unstoppable!"

I regroup with the others and we stand in a line.

"Excellent!" Thrax says as they also regroup. "Now give me your evil energy so we can eliminate the rangers once and for all!"

I hold my stomach but I am unable to raise another shield as they combine their powers and all seven of us are hit by a purple blast. But I was also hit with a red blast and I feel my connection to my powers, magic and morphing grid disappear as I demorph.

I look on my shoulder to see that my morpher is fried and I open my mystic morpher to see the screen is cracked and the code buttons destroyed.

"What happened?" Rose asks and I see the others have the same problems with their morphers.

"I've severed your connection to the universal morphing grid!" Thrax says and I see him smirk at me. "And an extra present for you white ranger! Seeing as my mother was magic I knew exactly how to remove yours! All of your are no longer power rangers!"

I am feeling the pain more and more as my healing is gone. There is a flash and sentinel knight appears.

"GET AWAY FROM THEM!" He tells Thrax and his goons.

"YOU!" Thrax says and its clear he has a problem with the knight. "This just keeps getting better and better!"

"The sentinel knight!" Moltor says shocked to see him.

"DESTROY HIM!" Flurious says to him.

"NO!" Thrax holds out his hands to stop the others who made a move towards the sentinel knight. "You can't! But I know what can!"

"We've got to get out of here!" Sentinel knight tells us and in a flash he teleports us out of there.

We reappear down an alley.

"Sentinel Knight!" Dax says as we all begin to get up, at least I am slowly trying. "You okay?!"

I glance up at the knight who is really ghost like.

"The remaining jewels are unprotected," he says and I sigh wondering what can be done about that. "I must do something!"

He disappears again leaving us to wonder what'll happen to us.

"Great!" Ronny says as Mack places my arm over his shoulder to support me. "Where does that leave us?"

Mack pulls out his tracker and as he opens it it sparks. I pull out my mystic morpher and I can now see that it is nearly in two halves. I may have to call my dad.

"Powerless!" Both Mack and I say.

We head back to the base and as Spencer helps me to bandage my wounded stomach, the others talk about the morphers.

"Any luck at all yet, Dad?" Mack asks him and I glance at the two.

"No," Mr. Hartford tells him as he stares at the computer screen. "The tear in the grid has cut off all access to your ranger powers!"

"Even our most sophisticated repair program can't repair it," Rose says and then she glances at me. "And who knows what Thrax did to your magic Courtney!"

"Well I've been trying to contact my mum, dad or brother but they seem to be in one of the other realms," I tell them and they look confused. "Some our morphers won't work in."

"Then it's over," Dax says and I sigh. "We're not power rangers anymore!"

Everyone looks upset but Ty is the first to speak. "I don't believe it!"

Spencer who has finished helping me walks over to them.

"The evil alliance has wasted no time in searching for the remaining jewels," he tells everyone. "There are reports of attacks coming in from all over the world!"

"Then its only a matter of time before they come here for the two we have," Will says as he is trying to repair his own tracker.

"We can't let that happen," Mr. Hartford says and I nod at everyone in agreement. "We've got to take the fight to them!"

"But without our ranger powers," Ronny exclaims clearly worried.

"Having morphers doesn't make us rangers," I say glancing around at all of them. "That was already inside of each and everyone of us. The morphers are just what help us to use the skills we already have!"

"You still have your genetically enhanced skills," Mr. Hartford finishes for me.

"Dad and Courtney are right," Mack tells them. "We have to try!"

We have found that Mig and Kamdor are at Stonehenge looking for a jewel. We head there in the rover and bikes. I refused to stay behind when my team are putting their lives in danger. Besides I am still a fire ninja.

Mack is driving the rover and I stand up in the back and fire fireballs at the two but they dodge all of them.

"Come on guys!" Mack yells.

Rose blasts at Mig as he comes at us but he jumps into the air to avoid the blast which explodes behind him.

"FIRE!" He then yells and fires at our rover.

Unable to raise a shield we are at a huge disadvantage as the shots hit out vehicle. Mack is forced to turn the rover around but as we head towards Mig he begins to fire at us again. As we all cry out Mack quickly slams on the brakes.

"OUT!" Mig yells before throwing Mack out.

The rest of us quickly jump out to avoid being thrown.

Ty goes to drop down and kick him but he avoids it and turns to grab my wrist which had been aiming for his head. Ty uses mercury and I blast him with fire but he jumps into the air again.

"I'll show you!" He says and I gasp as both Ty and I go flying into the air as he blasts us again.

Tyzonn and I both hit the ground hard. I groan wishing now more than ever I could heal.

After the others had all been defeated we all are on the ground in pain. My wounds seem to have reopened.

All of a sudden a bunch of branches come out and hit Mig. They'res only one person who I know can do that but there is no reason he would be here is there.

"Mig?" Kamdor calls before turning to someone behind us. "Who are you?"

I gasp as I turn and see who it is. "Xander?!"

"Surprise!" He says to Kamdor and I see he has his magic staff out.

Kamdor goes to attack but he is blasted by an unknown red ranger. I wonder who this guy is as I practically know every ranger that existed due to dads diaries.

"Hello!" The red ranger with a no 1 on his suit says.

Mig breaks free but as I turn Kira, morphed as the yellow Dino ranger flies past him and strikes him with her grips. I am beginning to wonder who called these rangers.

"It's great to be back!" She says as she stands on Stonehenge.

A ninja streak goes past revealing Tori attacking Kamdor. That's three of my old teammates.

"Let the games begin!" She says.

A white ranger appears with a similar suit to the red one apart from he has a no 6 on his suit. He uses some sort of blaster to shoot both Mig and Kamdor.

"Not nice to meet you!" He says and I can hear humor in his voice.

Kamdor and Mig stand back to back but a crack in the ground separates them again and the black mighty morphin ranger appears. I recognize him from dad's ranger diaries. I believe it's Adam as when he speaks he sounds nothing like uncle Zack. I had only met Adam once or twice.

"Looks like you guys could use a little help!" He says to us holding his power ax.

The six rangers regroup and then run to face Kamdor and Mig together.

Tyzonn and Mack help me to my feet and we all move towards each other looking at the others.

"Who are they?" Ronny asks but I am a little worried about what they are doing here.

"I don't know but I like the suits," Dax says and I roll my eyes.

"I can see a few old friends," I tell them as I look at my former teammates.

"They're power rangers!" Rose says and I shake my head.

Had I not just said this.

"Thrax didn't tell us there would be more rangers!" Kamdor says in anger.

Mig looks just as angry. "Maybe he's not such a great leader after all!"

The two take off and the other rangers all demorph. They turn to us all smiling. The white ranger, even though I never met him, looks very familiar even though I don't know why.

I see the black mighty morphin ranger is Adam.

They approach us.

"Thanks," I tell them before turning to the four I know. "Xander, Tori, Kira and Adam nice to see you all again... sorry I don't know your two's names."

"I'm Bridge," the red ranger says. "And this is Tho-"

"I'm Jayden," the white ranger cuts him off with a slight look Bridge's way.

"We're glad to help anyway," Adam says and I smile at him.

"Is anyone else confused here?" Dax asks and I turn to look at him a little.

"I will answer all of your questions," Sentinel night says as he appears in between all of us.

"But maybe this isn't the best place!" Tori says and then she glances at me. "Courtney can you?"

"I can't right now," I tell her. "My magic is gone!"

Jayden for some reason steps on Bridge's foot before he speaks. So we all head back to the base and their is an awkward silence between all of us.

"Whoa," Xander says as we lead the others down to the base. "This is way better than a hollow tree."

"Hey!" I say playfully punching him on the arm. "I love rootcore. And you've seen this place before!"

"Not properly," he answers rubbing his arm.

Us seven overdrive rangers stand in a line facing the others. I am facing the white ranger who seems to be avoiding eye contact with me.

"So..." Will begins. "You've all been rangers before!"

"Yep!" Kira says.

Bridge raises his hand and Jayden groans. " Except for Jayden and I. See we're not rangers yet. But both of us will be in the future. In the future I'm gonna be the green ranger. Oh and then I'm gonna be the blue ranger!"

"But you're wearing red?" Rose asks as confused as I feel.

"Oh uh yeah," Bridge begins to explain. "Well long story short. Our mentor, well, who's a dog, got promoted to head of S.P.D, which used to be run by a bird, but he retired and went down to Miami, and then Skye got promoted and I got promoted to second in command next to T.. Jayden as red ranger. Or rather, I will be!"

I look at my friends. "That was the short version?"

My friends look like they agree with me.

"Makes sense to me," Dax says and Bridge smiles at him.

"In any case," Mr. Hartford says and we all look around at him. "Welcome, we're so glad to have you here!"

Sentinel knight appears.

"I have asked these previous power rangers to help in this time of crisis." he tells all of us and I wonder why he wants another team. "I was able to channel some of my remaining energy to restore their powers."

"We're all happy to help," Adam says and I glance at him. "Once a ranger..."

"Always a ranger!" The others also say this last bit.

Sentinel knight speaks again. "As the guardian of the jewels, it is my duty to see that they are protected. That is why I have chosen... Jayden, Adam, Bridge, Xander, Tori and Kira to replace you as the new team of power rangers!"

I freeze before without a second though, I storm off.

Oh that's great I have been replaced. I have been a ranger four times and it's so nice to know they can replace me.

I am sat reading a book still angry as the others all do other things.

"It's really great to finally get some free time around here," Rose says and I look up at her with an eyebrow raised.

"Yeah," Will agrees. "You know let the knew guys take some of the heat for a while!"

"More like old," I say to them. "And its still not right that we can be replaced in a second... I don't care what anyone says."

"Check this out," Ronny says entering the room holding a newspaper and she reads the article out loud. "New team of power rangers save ancient monument!"

Speaking of the new team they enter the room.

"Anyway those zords are unbelievable," Xander says and I look up at them.

"Yeah I can't wait to get in the cockpit of that gyro driver," Tori agrees.

"What an incredible command center," Kira says and she stands near me. "Dr. O would have loved that."

Adam shakes his head in surprise. "Hey you know I still can't believe he's a doctor!"

"One of many great things he did and does," Jayden says.

I stand up a little surprised at the way he speaks of my dad.

"Do you know my dad in the future?" I ask him a little confused.

He gulps and seems to notice he messed up. "You could say that. Mainly heard great things about him."

I am still confused but Azantyz enters the room and the others except the people who know him look shocked. He whines as he places his head on my lap.

As we found out the day before without my magic I have lost my connection to Azantyz. I hate it.

"Oh it's only Azantyz," Bridge says and I sit up fully. "Doesn't Regina look like him Jayden?"

Now I am beginning to get suspicous as even Azantyz looks confused.

"Seems like you're all getting along just fine," Rose says to the others.

"Yeah," Tori says and everyone nods with her. "I think we make a pretty good team, right guys?"

The others all make noises of agreement. But then they catch the looks on our faces.

"Hey don't worry," Kira says to us. "I'm sure you guys'll be back to action in no time."

"Yeah we're just pinch hitting it for you," Xander agrees winking at me. "Till you get your powers back!"

"You mean if we get our powers back," Ronny points out and they all look wary.

The alarm goes off and Adam turns to the others. "Come on rangers!"

As they race towards the command center us originals gather together, in the middle of the room and watch them go.

"Well," Ronny begins annoyed. "I for one have better things to do then hang around here all day doing nothing!"

Later on after a long discussion we are all in Mr. Hartford's office as he enters at our request.

"Spencer said you wanted to see me," he says as he stands behind his desk.

"Mr. Hartford," Dax begins the conversation none of us want to have. "You know how much we've loved being a part of operation overdrive..."

"And it's been an incredible experience," Tyzonn continues.

"But now you've got a new team," Rose continues slowly. "You just don't need us anymore."

Mr. H looks shocked as he looks at all of us. "Of course I need you. Our mission isn't over yet."

"Our mission was to be power rangers," Will points out to him. "We gave up everything for that!"

"I don't like being replaced," I state shaking my head. "I've been a ranger for longer then all of the new team and I get pushed away like yesterday's model. It's not right. I'll stick around for a while, try and help get our morphers fixed and my magic back.. but that's it."

"I see," Mr. Hartford looks a little upset.

"It's just that we feel you have everything handled here," Ronny says. "We've talked about it... and we'd like to go back to our normal lives."

"Mack," Mr. H speaks to his son who has been quiet this whole time. "Do you feel this way too?"

"I'm not going anywhere dad," Mack says as this is still his home. "But I don't think that there's much I can do to help."

"Are you sure that this is what you want?" Mr. Hartford wants to sure.

"Yes we are," Dax says and we all are still reluctant. "We've decided to leave operation overdrive!"
