I can't remember anything...
Can't tell if this is true or dream...
Sora arrives at a baseball stadium, with company.
''I'd rather play baseball'' said Sora, who couldn't withstand the loud noise. They remade the whole stadium into a music one. Lots of cars, trucks, buses, and people wearing costumes with the logo of their favorite bands.
''Open your mind, Sora'' said her. A tall lady, wearing a red coat with some armory, face covered by a metallic helmet and silver, if almost, white as cream. ''This is better than baseball. It's Radiohead, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Green Day, Pulp, Red Hot Chili Peppers, New Order... all in a single night! When this will ever happen again? It's musicians like these that unites all tribes!''
''Yeah'' Sora tries to remember when did he came to this place. Followed of her.
''It's nice to have some company tonight, though. Thanks for, you know what, coming here'' Sora looked to that woman. Was she a rat? He asked to himself. ''Sora?''
''What?''
''Look to my eyes'' she said. How? There was only a shadow below that helmet. A shadow... Sora has faced many shadows before. When he looked throught it, there was no more a shadow, but a pair of green eyes.
''You've got green eyes'' he said.
''Oh, you've got blue eyes...'' she said.
''What?'' Sora was confused.
''It's a song. Temptation.''
''Temptation?''
''By New Order.''
''New Order? Who is this?''
''It's a band.''
''A band?''
''Yes. A synthpop band. They'll be playing tonight'' Sora wonders who this woman is. And when they have met before ''They changed a lot with time.''
''How?''
''Well, nevermind. I hope they sing the full album tracks. I love these. And you?''
''Me?''
''Uh huh. Which song do you have in mind?'' a song? Sora tries to think about one. On his past adventures, he remembers a lot of what happened. Yet, he could feel a song playing on his heart by each tale ''Does it have a name?''
''Every song needs a name.''
''Just like every rose has its thorn, I see.''
''Simple Clean.''
''What?'' The rat lady said. Sora didn't knew her name. Not yet ''Simple Clean? Oh, I think they're not going to play this one.''
''Why not?''
''You tell me. Who composed it?''
''I don't know. It just came to mind.''
''Simple, and clean... know where can I buy it?''
''I...'' Sora couldn't look at that woman in face.
''What's up? Is the noise making you feel dizzy?'' she tried to comfort him, in a way that only friends do. Friend? I don't even know her.
''No. It's just that I... I feel... uncomfortable.''
''There's no need to, Sora. If my height still bothers you, I'd rather crawl around on my fours.''
''No, please'' was this a dream? Sora asked to himself, as he looked upon. The skies were utterly dark, no stars shining. Only those down to earth, run by electricity. ''I... I imagine things when I look at you.''
''Like what?''
''Uh, nothing.''
''It's fine. As long as you don't tell what you have in mind when you see me, other than my name..."
''Your name..."
''Yes?'' was I supposed to be here? Thought Sora. Maybe it was all but a dream. Or, maybe... ''Sora, don't you remember my name?''
''Uh...''
''Have you forgotten?'' the woman in red looked disappointed. All that hapiness of before seemed fake, only to hide the despair sealed by skin.
''No, I haven't. I... oh, who am I fooling? I'll be sincere, this is the first time we've ever met.''
''Is it?''
''Have we met before?''
''Sora, are you okay?''
''Yes. It's... I'm sorry. Must be the loud noise that's screwing with my thoughts.''
''Mine as well. A little bit.''
''Well, if I forgot your name, it's because I remember a lot of them. Let's see.. there's Riku, Kairi, Roxas, uh... that guy with red hair, Alex? Lexa? Oh, see, I have lots of names to remember. You won't mind if I have forgotten yours, would you?''
''As long as you do not call me Ratchel, that's fine for me.''
''Uh, what's your name? I'll see if I can remember it this time'' she kinda looks like a Ratchel for me, thought Sora.
''My name is Freya, how's that?'' well, it's better than Ratchel.
''Are you okay?''
''I am. Don't worry about me. When I bled, nobody knows.''
''Are you bleeding?''
''In a way of saying.''
''Is it because of anything I've said?''
''No, Sora. Well... A man once forgot about my name'' said Freya, crossing arms ''Not only my name, but everything we had together. The worse, though, is that I still remember. Good memories, painful ones as well. Fratley and I, we still talk to each other. I kinda miss him, so I do with all my people. Do you miss someone, Sora?''
''Yes'' that was an immediate answer. So many people Sora miss. Lea, Isa, Saix, Goofy, Donald, Roxas, Xion, even the folks from Organization XIII, despite their attitude ''I miss a lot of people too. I wonder if they miss me as well.''wait, speaking about the people I miss... didn't I said it before, while on the Final World? Thought Sora. Maybe I've came back to that place, but if I really did, everything looks so real.
''They do. I left home once because I, too, wondered if someone else missed me'' even Freya's tears ''Not just someone else, but the man I loved. An only man, instead of a whole kingdom, could there be anything any more inconsiderate to be done?''
''The heart has its own voice too. It should be heard like the rest'' indeed, she's real. Her breath, trepidation, and sobs.
''But to take your whole life, on other hand... Five years is a lot. When I look back to it, I wonder if I didn't wasted all that time in vain. Sure, I knew lots of people, new things, but still, I was determined to find Fratley. It's what kept me moving forward. And then, well... life is hard, and then, you die'' a pause for breathe. Freya looks at Sora, with that 'are you listening to me?' glare ''Sometimes, I wish my enemy had an only face. When everyone seems to betray you, it's what I think about.''
''I hope I ain't included on your enemies list.''
''You bet.'' for a moment, Freya smiled. A brief moment ''See, a lack of communication can be fatal. You become a victim of circumstance. Kingdoms and people fall beneath you, and you feel like you could've done better. I wish I did better. Like, when you flip a book page back again, and wish you only stood on that very page, but that's how life is. You just move on, without looking back''below that armor, Freya looked sensitive as a snail in a world of salt. But with that speech, it was clear for Sora that she would leave more than a shell behind.
''Sora, dude!''someone shouted at the stadium's entrance. Well, despite the loud noises, Sora heard someone mention its name. It was Neku, followed of someone else. That same slender figure wearing a green cloak and broken shades. Again, what was his name?
''Neku? What are you doing here?''
''Man, how could I miss it tonight? My main man, Aphex Twin, will be playing.''
''And I'm here for some Good Charlotte'' said that familiar figure. It was Kuroki Kaze ''Hi, Sora.''
''Hi, Kuroki.''
''Have you two met before?''
''Yes.''
''And who's the rat lady?'' said Neku, looking at Freya.
''Well, uh... she's a friend of mine'' Sora said, as Neku stared at him. He didn't found a rat lady to be that strange.
''Hey, Sora... is it me, or have you changed of haircut?''
''Uh... Haircut?'' Sora touched his hair. Instead of spiky, he had another ''Yeah, I did. For tonight, of course'' Sora didn't knew why his hair was different. He looked at Freya's coat of arms and saw himself. For a moment, he thought he saw Yozora. Sora looked a bit different. Maybe it's the gel that made his hair that way, he thought. Maybe Ventus left his heart, who knows. Is Yozora inside of me? He wondered. Oh, what the hell. For tonight, he said.
''No guns, huh? OKay'' Kuroki said, in contempt. He had been blocked its way to the stadium ''The Magun is my very soul. No other being may fire it'' as Kaze handed over his weapon to the security staff, so did Freya with her spear.
''From where did you took that spear?''Neku asked.
''Hah, funny'' Freya stared back at him. It was hard to see her eyes beneath the shadow cast by her helmet.
On their way to the stadium, Sora and his pals met a crowd of people around a mangaka by the name of-
''Hello. I am Kishibe Rohan, creator of the Pink Dark Boy series. You may be asking what I'm doing here, far away from home. You see, I only came to america so I could, uhh... Here's my, ugh, american comic book... X-Force. I'm not proud of it, but people like it somehow. Here, take it'' he said, hanging over a comic book to Sora.
''Thanks'' as Sora was about to leave, Rohan grabbed him by its shoulder.
''Na na nah! You'll have to pay for this crap.''
''How much?'' said Freya, hanging over a bag of gil. Had not been for the sake of security measures, and the bit of dignity left, she would use her claws.
''This much'' Rohan raised his fingers tall.
''Asshole.''
''The system is an asshole, my lady.''
''X-Force, huh? Hope you enjoy the reading, Sora'' Freya said, hanging the comic to Sora.
''Why are these guys so swollen?''
''Have no complains. You know how much I've paid for this book'' the Dragoon said, looking at the comic ''Indeed, these men are swollen. They don't look like human beings. Geez, and look at their mouths! Do they have same expressions, or what?... Hmmm... Well, muscle ain't my type. Also, did Rohan drew this?''
''I guess he only wrote the issue.'' said Sora, as he began to read about Cable's adventures with Han Solo and Jar Jar Binks. Vampires, time travel, Hamon, ancient aliens... everything looked so weird and out of place. Characters from different intellectual properties, all mixed together in one book. Like, how do they pay the original authors for this nonsense? He wondered.
Darkness! Imprisoning me! All that I see... Absolute horror!
I cannot live! I cannot die!...
Sora spent a time reading the comic, as the music went on his ears. So much music... I wonder how does anyone do not have an ear ache. He saw Freya lying on a corner. She wasn't feeling right, he could tell.
''They are dead, aren't they?'' she said, crestfallen ''My people... all dead.''
''What are you talking about?''Sora didn't knew what happened.
''Oh, how shameful! Look at me, I'm crying for whatever reason it makes me feel that I am here.''
''What do you mean, Freya?'' it wasn't as simple as he thought ''Is it the music?''
''No, it isn't. Nothing but myself. It ain't about others. It's all about myself... to be this selfish, at this point.''
''Selfish?'' Sora took a seat near his friend.
''Oh, you don't know, do you?... Is there any need to? I am worthless, so do my people. None of their lives mattered.''
''That's not true! Freya, tell me what's happening. I... I don't understand. All of sudden...''
''Yes. It happened all of sudden. And I wasn't even there. I mean, I was, but... I could have done better. Don't you agree, Sora?''
''I...'' Sora didn't knew what to say. Why was it so hard to say anything? Well, anything meaningful for someone who sees no more meaning... ''Nobody can die in Kingdom Hearts.''
''Really? If so, Burmecia was long forgotten by the warmth of the sun and Kingdom Hearts. And to be forgotten, my friend... it's a fate worse than death.''
''But to remember your people as if they were only martyrs... that ain't a good thing to live by'' how could she have heard me in all this chaos? Though Sora, who saw the Dragoon raise her head to blinking lights.
''...You're right, Sora. Oh, well. How pathetic I look like.''
''You are not pathetic, Freya. I'd say you're pretty strong.''
''Not by myself.''
If evil doesn't shatter a man, or a woman... then it only makes them even stronger.
