ELIZA'S POV
As I walked to my apartment I replayed the interaction that I'd just had with Professor Robbins in my head. It was the first one on one conversation I'd ever had with her and it had left me feeling all types of confused.. and aroused. Two months ago she walked into the room and introduced herself as our new Psychology professor, I had looked up at her and five seconds later I found myself having to pick my jaw up off the floor because I couldn't stop staring. She had walked in wearing a silk blouse tucked into a tight skirt and a pair of what must have been 5 inch heels, her outfit showed off her body in a way I had never seen clothes do before. Ever since that day she has walked in every single class wearing something just as gorgeous and if I'm being honest I don't know how I'm still alive after the amount of times that woman has left me breathless. From the beginning it was a fantasy, she was my teacher and I her student, but after that conversation I'm left feeling like I might have a chance.
As I walked up my front steps I thought about how very lucky I was to have my own place, every other senior either still lived in the dorms or they had to share a house with multiple people. My sister had studied at the same University in Seattle as I, she was offered a graduate job immediately and after 5 years managed to get herself a sweet condo. She had been travelling now for a few months and wasn't supposed to be home until way after I graduated so I had the place to myself.
I threw my coat and bag onto the sofa and grabbed myself a water from the fridge. I had a couple of hours to study before I needed to get ready to go to the bar with Maggie so I grabbed the books I needed from my bag and headed to my bedroom, laying on my front on my bed with my head in my book for the next few hours.
By the time 8:30 came around I was ready to go. Checking myself in the mirror for the final time, happy with what I saw; I wore a ruby red midi dress that hugged my figure in all the right places, a pair of black biker boots to give the look a bit of an edge along with a black leather jacket. I had decided to wear my hair up in a messy bun, a few pieces of hair pulled out at the front to frame my face and I had gone for a sexy, smokey look on my eyes. I was excited to have a girls night,
M: Just got to the bar, are you here?
E: Heading out now, be there in 5.
When I got to the bar the place was packed with unfamiliar faces, we had decided to go somewhere slightly off campus tonight in the hopes of avoiding the frat boys.
''Hot damn, look at you girl, you look insane!'' Maggie walked over to me carrying two drinks.
''Speak for yourself hot stuff,'' I reply with a wink, taking the drink she handed me.
''Shall we?'' She gestured her hand in the direction of an empty table.
Once we had both taken a seat we clunk our glasses together before both taking a huge slug. The bar was full of an older looking crowd, not a college kid in sight which I was thrilled about, we came here when we wanted to spend time together without bumping into anyone that we knew.
''So Amelia thinks that Link is cheating on her,'' Maggie blurted out.
''She thinks? Why does she think he's cheating on her?'' I replied. I noticed two people leave the bar area and saw there were two available stools at the bar, ''Do you want to sit up there? I have a feeling we're going to be drinking alot and I don't fancy getting up and down all the time.'' Maggie nodded in response and we both moved to the two available seats.
''Amelia looked through his phone and found some implicating messages.''
''Why was she looking through his phone in the first place? She must have had a reason.'' I gesture towards the bartender for two more drinks.
''She said that she had a feeling. Anyway I asked her if she had asked him about it and she said she was going to look through his laptop for more proof.''
I felt my eyes roll into the back of my head, she was my bestfriend but I often found myself questioning her choices. ''She needs to talk to him.''
The bartender placed our drinks infront of us and took our empty glasses.
''I know I tried to tell her, but then she started going off on me about not giving her advice because I had never been in a relationship before and was the last person she needed to tell her what to do so I left because I can't be assed to deal with her being a bitch to me,'' Maggie looked at me with guilt in her eyes. She was a good friend, always there for you when you needed her but even she had her limits.
I placed my hand on her shoulder and gave it a squeeze. ''You did everything you could, don't feel bad about leaving. Right, come on we are here to have fun, lets get a few tequilas and have a dance.''
After a few more shots and almost an hour of questionable dance moves I slip off back to the bar to order another drink whilst Maggie flirts with the guy she had been dancing with for the last 20 minutes.
''Can I grab a whiskey sour?'' I ask the girl behind the bar.
''Can I see your ID?''
''Oh, I don't have it on me, I have been drinking here all evening you can ask your colleague,'' I smile at her sweetly.
''Sorry, no ID no service.''
I glare at her. ''Are you joking? I have been ordering drinks all night.''
''Like I said, I haven't seen any ID so I can't-''
'It's okay, make it two of whatever she ordered, I'll get these,'' a familiar voice interrupted us. I looked over at my Professor, her eyes sparkling back at me. The bartender nodded at her and turned to make the drinks. ''Should I be offended she didn't ask me for ID?'' She said with a grin. ''You are of age though right?'' She turned to face me, her look questioning.
''Yeah I'm 22, you really don't have to buy though,'' I replied. What was she doing here? I was not prepared to see her, I have had way too many drinks to be trusted in her presence.
''It's okay, I don't mind. You'll just have to buy me one later to make it up to me,'' Professor Robbins winked. Her eyes refused to break contact with mine, it started to feel like they were burning into my skin.
''There you go, two whiskey sours. That'll be 17 dollars.''
Arizona turned back to the bar to pay and I used the opportunity to check her out. She wore a black strappy dress that rested just above her knees showing off her delicously toned legs, as she leant across the bar I was able to see her cleavage, I licked my lips at the sight and realised I had forgotten to breathe.
''For you,'' she took a few steps towards me, passing me the glass whilst taking a sip from her own.
''Thank you," my eyes uncontrollably drawn to her lips. They were pink and plump, a little wet from her drink. I ran my tongue along my own lips, pulling the bottom one between my teeth as her eyes met my own. "I haven't seen you here before, Professor Robbins."
Arizona's lips lifted into a sexy smirk, her eyes lingering on mine, watching as her pupils grew. Her gaze had me feeling hot, my heart beating hard against my chest as I felt my arousal pooling between my legs. "You seem disappointed."
"Huh?" I reply. Worried that I hadn't heard what she said whilst I was lost in her eyes.
"You seem disappointed that you haven't seen me here before Eliza," she made a point of dragging out my name. I struggled to make sense of the situation I had myself in, it was a position I had dreamed of being in for months. There I was, standing in front of her and I was stuck. She lifted her hand to push my hair behind my ear, her fingers running gently down my neck, my eyes shut at the feeling before she pulled them away. "It was nice seeing you Eliza, I hope you have a good night," she said quietly before heading off onto the other side of the dance floor. I lifted my hand up to touch the skin her fingers were so delicately touching moments before, my skin burning from the loss of contact.
"Hey did you see Professor Robbins?" Maggie asked, her voice raised to be heard above the music. The guy she had been speaking to was leaning across the bar whispering to the bartender.
"He's cute," I nodded in his direction.
Maggie turned to see who I was gesturing towards. "Yeah he's alright, a bit clingy though. He's buying us some drinks so he'll hang out with us for a bit and then I'm ready to get out of here if you are."
I nodded in response, my eyes searching through the crowd desperate to get another glimpse of her. It was then I saw her laughing with another woman, a woman who had her hand on her waist and was clearly laughing at something that wasn't funny.
"She cleans up good," Maggie said noticing my gaze.
"She always looks good," I muttered under my breath.
"I didn't realise she was gay," Maggie observed as she too watched her interaction with the other woman. "It's a shame she's our professor otherwise you two would make a phenomenal couple," she laughed.
I watched the two women as they flirted, it was evident that they were in a relationship. Clearly our interaction was my professor being friendly and my drunken ass saw what I wanted to see.
"I'm gonna head now, I'm tired," I said to Maggie.
"Oh okay, lets go." She grabbed my hand and pulled us through the crowded bar. She held open the door for me and I gestured for her to go first, turning before I walked out the exit. I caught her eye one final time across the bar, she gave me a sad smile before continuing her conversation. I didn't understand her sadness, all I wanted to do was run across the room and ask her what was wrong, tell her I could make it all better.. but I was just a girl in a bar and she was everything.
ARIZONA'S POV
As I watched Eliza leave the bar holding another woman's hand she couldn't help but feel like a fool. How could she let herself have a crush on a student, she had felt herself get excited earlier when she heard that Eliza was only 6 years younger than her, but that didn't change the simple matter of her being her student. Then seeing Eliza leaving with another one of her students, of course they were together, in class they were inseparable.
Attempting to push the thoughts to the back of my mind I engross myself in the conversation between Sam and Teddy. After getting dinner Teddy and I had decided to come to the bar to get a couple of drinks, I'd ended up bumping into Sam who I had hooked up with once when I first moved here and I had barely been able to shake her since.
"I'm just going to use the restroom," I told them both before quickly escaping the conversation.
As I rinsed my hands under the warm water I wondered how my life had turned out like it had. This time six months ago I had been living with my girlfriend of five years in New York, and now I was single living in Seattle pining over one of my students.
"What's taking you so long Zo?" I gripped the sides of the sink in frustration at the sound of Sam's voice. I hated being nicknamed and I couldn't stand girls who were so needy they followed women to the bathroom.
I grabbed a paper towel and patted my hands dry, then I scrunched it up in my hand before before tossing it into the far away bin.
"Hey you wanna hang out in here for a bit? We can have some fun," Sam pulled me against the wall, our chests now pressed together.
"Sam, how many times do I have to tell you it was a one time thing, I'm not interested," I said pulling myself off the wall and exiting out the bathroom.
I beelined for my friend who was dancing with a guy I didn't recognise. "Hey Teddy I'm gonna head home, terrible migraine." She smiled and waved me goodbye which I took as a sign she wouldn't be joining me.
As I walked home I thought back to the interaction I'd had at the beginning of the night with Eliza, for a moment it had felt like she was flirting with me. Her eyes were all over me, but then again she had been drunk she might not have even realised she had been doing it.
Relieved to finally be home I kicked off my heels and poured myself a glass of ice cold water. I always made sure to drink a full glass before bed after I had been drinking, it ensured no hangover in the morning and that could only be a good thing especially when I had an early class. Struggling up the stairs due to my exhaustion, I slumped down on my bed not even bothering to remove my clothes. I quickly felt myself fall into a deep dream filled sleep that most definitely involved Eliza, as my dreams always did these days.
