A Memory Reborn.

At a military base, several soldiers were patrolling the area. It had been a slow night and many of them just wanted to go to sleep already. But they had a duty of keeping a look out, so they had no other choice. Two guards stood at their posts, simply keeping an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. They had been standing like that for 2 hours now, and the guards that were going to relive them hadn't shown up yet. Safe to say both of them were bored out of their mind, and was just waiting for their guard time to be over.

After a while one of them sighed "You know, this sucks. Nothing ever happens out here".

"I know what you mean. 2 hours and not as much as an ant has showed up" The Other guard agreed.

"I am so pissed I was relocated here. I remember the time I was stationed in a hot zone. Could barely go five minutes without an enemy showing up to cause trouble. I miss the exitment. It was so simple. Just fight hard and shoot some random enemies, mostly omnics. But now I am trapped in one of the safest places in the army" The First guard said.

His friend looked at him "You know, few would complain about being in a safe place".

"I know, but I signed up to fight, not to stand still doing nothing for hours" The first guard said.

"Hey I am not judging. My father fought in the Omnic crisis. I really wanted to be a true soldier like he was. But so far I am yet to see any real action" The Second Guard said.

"Maybe after tonight we can request a transfer to a more active zone. At this point I would be happy with fighting some low level thugs. Who would've guessed that I would end up missing having someone shooting at me" The First Guard said.

Before they could continue they noticed some kind of strange purple smoke. It was coming from the darkness ahead of them. They glanced at each other before raising their weapons, ready for whatever would come. Suddenly omnics showed up... but they were different. They acted like they were in some kind of frenzy. The guards quickly opened fired, gunning down several of the omnics, but their efforts were pointless as they were quickly overwhelmed and torn apart by the violent machines. After killing the guards, The smaller Omnics couldn't break down the gate... but they didn't need to as far larger omnics showed up and forced the gates open.

The soldiers inside quickly opened fire, destroying a lot of the omnics. But the omnic horde was endless and their defenses were being overwhelmed in a matter of minutes. As the unprepared resistance was failing... a large armored figure calmly made his way across the battlefield, approaching the main building. Paying no attention to the carnage going on around him. These humans were so weak. The lack of battles had dulled their senses and their skills were lacking. Pathetic.

Inside the base the Female Commander scrambled to mobilize her forces "Get in to your positions! No one gets in! You wanted action, so show me what you can do!".

As the soldiers were getting in to positions, the power suddenly cut, making the whole base go black. They could hear the sounds of their fellow soldiers getting slaughtered until... silence. The Commander held her gun ready along with her soldiers. All of them aimed down the dark hallway. Suddenly they heard a sound... heavy footsteps. And they were getting closer and closer. The soldiers grew nervous, but didn't move from their spots.

Suddenly the footsteps stopped... and the armored figure's armor lit up, revealing his presence, and he was holding a large high tech mace, glowing with sparkly energy.

The Commander looked shocked before she glared "OPEN FIRE!".

All the soldiers quickly fired at the massive armored man. But their bullets did nothing as he walked towards them and suddenly unleashed purple smoke. Everyone hit by it began to cough violently, some of which even fell to the ground unable to breath. The Armored figure stepped on a soldier's back, breaking his spine. As the rest tried to keep shooting him, he swung his mace, hitting a soldier so hard it caused sent his own ribs in to his lungs.

The Armored man continued walking towards the rest before swinging his mace again, splitting a soldier's head like a water mellon. He then grabbed a female soldier by the head, slowing crushing her head while she soldier was screaming in pain. Her screams only ending after her skull gave away to the man's strong grip, killing her on the spot. A soldier on the floor tried to shoot him, only for his armored foot to slam in to the soldier's chest, causing blood to fly out of his mouth.

"Son of a bitch!" Another soldier yelled as he pulled out a grenade.

He threw the grenade but The Armored attacker hit the grenade back, causing it to hit the soldier in the mouth with enough force to knock out one of his teeth and making him fall down on the floor. He then noticed the grenade had landed right next to his head. He screamed just as the grenade went of, killing him.

"Fall back! FALL BACK NOW!" The Commander screamed in fear.

Everyone began moving further in, but the armored attacker began speed walking after them. Thanks to his size he easily caught up with them, swinging his mace and hitting someone in the head. He then swung it again, hitting another soldier, sending him flying. The hit from the mace shattered the soldier's shoulder, and the impact with the wall broke his spine. The soldiers continued to flee in panik, before one slipped and fell to the floor. He didn't have time to get back up before the attacker's foot crushed his head.

"GO GO GO!" The commander shouted as she motioned her soldiers through a door before hitting a button.

But then to her horror, another female soldier slipped and couldn't make it to the door in time before it closed. The soldier was young, and she ran up to the door as she began pounding on the bullet proof glass "MOM! LET ME IN! LET ME IN!".

But before her mother could do anything, the attacker grabbed the poor woman's head and smashed it against the glass, covering it with her blood. The Commander looked horrified as she just saw her daughter, who was still a rookie, getting killed right in front of her. And to make things worse, the door suddenly jammed... the purple smoke from before was messing with the system. And the armored hand of the attacker began forcing the door open. The soldiers fired, but the smoke was getting to them and soon the attacker was through the door, swinging his mace which sent the soldiers flying all over the place. Not a single one of them was spared.

Only the commander remained. She had gone further inside the base. But she wasn't trying to get away from this monster. She just went to get a bigger weapon. Which turned out to be a missile launcher. She glared at the armored man in pure hatred in her eyes. She didn't care about anything right now. She wanted revenge against the monster. Said monster looked at her, showing no signs of worry. The Commander got even more angry at that. This monster wasn't taking her seriously at all, and clearly showed no remorse for what he had done.

"You killed my daughter you son of a bitch! I WILL KILL YOU FOR THAT!" She screamed as she fired the missile.

The deadly projectile flew towards the armored monster... only for him to suddenly lift his head... and caught it. The Commander looked utterly shocked by what she just saw.

"Wh-What?" She asked in disbelief and fear.

"Weak" The Large man finally spoke before throwing the missile back at her.

The missile hit the floor in front of her, blasting her back. This left the commander with half her face ripped off, her left arm badly injured to the point she couldn't even move it, and she was impaled in five different places. The Armored man walked up to her and looked down at her badly injured and broken body.

She spat out some blood "What are you waiting for...? Finish it!".

The Man bent down on one knee and looked at her "Your life is nearing it's end already. You should take the time to focus on something else".

"Shut up! Monster! You killed them! You killed her! You killed everyone! Just do it!" The Commander yelled before coughing violently.

"Save your strength, you will need it for this. I rarely get the chance to talk to anyone. They just tend to die before I can have a conversation. They are to weak to survive long enough to earn my attention. And as you can guess, those machines I command isn't very talkative" The Man said calmly.

"I have nothing to say to you..." The Commander said before she spat out more blood.

"Oh I believe you do. Tell me, what do you think she saw?" The Man asked.

"What...?" The Commander asked.

"Your daughter. What do you think she saw when she died?" The Man asked.

The Commander glared at him "Why the hell would you want to know that...?".

"You see, many preach when it comes to death. Saying when you die, there will be a bright and warm light waiting to embrace you. A calming light that allows one to pass away peacefully. Do you think your daughter saw that? Because I didn't" The Man said.

"What...?" The Commander asked.

"I died once. At the hight of my glory, I met death in battle like I always believed true warriors did. When my death came, I waited for the light... But do you know what I saw?" The man asked as he leans closer "Darkness... I saw a never ending void of darkness. All the void had was... silence... silence... never ending silence... I was trapped in the void... where the dead fades away and are forgotten. But I refused to fade. I refused to be another forgotten warrior. When the hands of death wanted to drag me down, I pushed them away and I came back. My mortal body was broken, but I now have a new body, stronger than my flesh ever was".

The Commander coughed, her life slowly slipping away.

"My death taught me something very important. Death has no meaning, all that matters is one's purpose beyond it. Now tell me, commander. Now that your life is coming to and end. What do you see?" The Man asked.

"Who... are... you...?" The Commander asked weakly.

The man stood up "I am the warrior the world tried to forget. I am the one who refuses to fade. I am... Mordekaiser".

The Commander watched him leave before death finally claimed her. What did she see when she died? No one will ever know. Mordekaiser just left the base. No one had managed to be a proper test of his new strength. This whole raid was a waste of time. But he knew there was someone worthy, somewhere out there. And he would find them.

He was the one who returned from death. He is the one who refused to fade... he is the one, who defeated death... And Death will never claim him again.

This chapter was inspired by Mordekaiser's project skin. It looked so freaking badass and was the perfect way to bring in one of my favorite League Of Legends characters.

Tell me what you think.
