So I changed this chapter as well as the end of the last one just a little. I didn't like what I had written. Anyways, I hope yall enjoy. To my reviewer yes. I scared myself with that one. Lol. That's a result of her autism. Her meltdowns can cause her to stim dangerously sometimes. So she may hit or bite vs rock back and forth or hum or repeat what was just said to her. It all depends on the trigar.. Carly entered gh and spotted Bobbie right away. "Hey, sweetie. What's going on?" Bobbie questioned and Carly sighed. "Can I talk to you?"
"Of course. What is it?" Entering her mom's office Carly softly closed the door. "Nelle had a meltdown yesterday during therapy and she still believes Frank, even though he abused her for years and lied to her." She explained and Bobbie sighed. "Honey, you have to remember all the trauma he's put her through and how much she loves you." Bobbie explained before her pager went off. "Talk to her." She said before leaving the room.
Entering Nelle's room Carly softly took a seat on the bed, gently running her fingers through the girl's hair. "Nelle, baby. Wake up." She said. "Carly? What are you doing here?" "We need to talk, about what happened the other day." She said and Nelle sat up and looked at her.
"I love you." Nelle said, tears pouring from her eyes. "Da-daddy s-said y-you chose to l-leave." She got out through sobs and Carly's heart broke. "Baby, no. I didn't. I left because he didn't ask me to stay, and I'm so sorry I didn't remember you when you first came to PC." She said, tears stinging her own eyes as she gathered the girl into a bone crushing hug, their tears mingling together.
"Carly? Is everything alright?" Dr. Garcia questioned and she shook her head, collapsing into a chair. "It's about Nelle. She's still believing what Frank told her, and I'm pretty sure he made her believe I knew about the abuse, which is an absolute lie." She snapped and Anne sighed. "I'll talk to her, but you're the best person for that. Just keep reassuring her of your love and eventually she will believe it, but it will take some time." She explained. "You have to remember, he abused her physically and sexually over the years along with feeding her lies about you, so that's where her anger was coming from when she did the things she did before her rape." She continued and Carly nodded, thanking her before leaving the room.
One week later
Anne sat with her patient, Nelle playing with a stim toy and the therapist prayed she could get her to talk. Carly was advised to not come in this time, in hopes of establishing complete trust between the two but now Anne wondered if it had been to soon. "Nelle? Carly tells me you still believe your father?" "Yes. Love her, but she left me." The girl whispered, beginning to look around the room. "Look through that window." Anne said and Nelle smiled when her eyes landed on the person she was looking for. "Do you understand he lied to you?" Her therapist asked and she didn't respond, continuing to stare at Carly. "Nelle? Do you need a minute?" She questioned, making eye contact with Carly through the window who quickly entered the room. "Hey sweetie. Are you ok? Can you look at me?" Carly questioned and sighed when Nelle finally looked at her.
"She's regressing." Anne finally said and Carly stared at her. "Her brain can't process all the abuse, so she's regressing to a safer time." "I see. So, what do I do?" "Treat her how she's acting. If she's little, treat her as you would treat your little girl, but if not then do what you always do." "Ly Ly?" Came a small voice and Carly immediately jumped into action. "Hey, sweetie. It's ok. You're safe." She said as she placed the girl on her lap. "Home now?" "Yeah, we can go home." She responded, looking to Anne who nodded.
"Ly Ly?" "Yeah, baby?" "Wan food." Came the small voice and Carly glanced into the back seat and smiled. "Ok, baby. What do you want?" "I dunno." She responded. "There's a mcdonalds up here." She proposed and the girl squealed with excitement and Carly chuckled. "Well, I think the choice has been made then." She said, laughing slightly as she pulled into the drive through. "What do you want?" "Nuggies!" The girl squealed happily and Carly smiled, fighting off a sudden batch of tears. If only she had taken care of her when she was truly little but she couldn't think about that. All she could do now is make up for this while she was in her headspace. "What do you want to drink?" "Chocky shake." She said and Carly nodded.
As they drove home, they ate their food in silence, Nelle bouncing between big and little space. "Tan we watch dat movie?" She questioned and Carly looked away from the road and over at her. "Which one, sweetheart?" "One wif da fish." She responded. "Baby, I know you're little right now, but I don't understand. Can you be more specific or show me when we get home?" "Fish gets wost." She explained and Carly grinned. "Yeah, we can." She responded as they pulled into the driveway.
Settling the girl beside her on the couch, Carly pressed play on the movie, Nelle cuddling into her side. "I wuv you." She whispered and Carly's heart melted. "I love you too, baby. I love you too." She responded.
"No. I don wan go. I wan stay wif you." Nelle sobbed hysterically the next day when Carly brought her back to the clinic and she sighed, unsure what to do. "Oh, sweetie. It's ok. I'm right here." She cooed, lifting the girl into her arms. "I stay, I stay." She continued crying as a hand gripped Carly's shirt and Anne, hearing everything rushed from her office. "What's going on, Carly?" "She doesn't wanna stay here." She explained. "I sowwy. I be good." She sobbed, arms tightly going around Carly's neck. "Ok, baby, ok." She cooed, pressing a kiss to her head, sighing when the girl began to relax and a thumb went into her mouth. "Don't do that, baby. It's yucky." She explained, pulling out a pacifier and placing it between the girl's lips. "Ok. So, I think she can go home with you now." Anne explained and Carly's eyes widened. "A-are you sure?" "Yes, I am. Obviously I want her to continue therapy with me, but I believe being with you will be the best thing for her." She explained and Carly smiled, Nelle smiling around the pacifier in her mouth and mumbling about being with Carly. "Yeah, sweetie. You're going home." "Wif you?" "Yes, baby. With me." She said, smiling brightly. "Otay. I want dat a wot." She responded and both women smiled. Anne just hoped her patient could truly begin healing now that she would be back in her own environment.
