I am moving right along with this story. I hope yall enjoy. I made myself cry with this one. Lol. This idea just came to me, so I had to write it. At some point, their history was going to come back in to play, I just had to figure out what I wanted to do. Thanks for all the support.
Carly arrived back at Bobbies house and shut off her car. Taking a deep breath, she exited the vehicle and entered the house. "Nelle, sweetie? I'm home." She called out but received no answer. Frowning in concern, she began checking rooms until she got to her own room. Opening the door, she saw the girl sitting on the floor, staring in to space. After John had interviewed her, she had immediately fled, telling Carly she needed to go home. Carly didn't want to leave her, but in a rare moment of anger that Carly hadn't seen in months, Nelle had exploded. She had lashed out, blaming Carly for not saving her and she attempted to slap her so Carly remained at work, figuring that was best but texting Bobbie and informing her of the situation.
"Nelle? It's Carly." She whispered, lowering herself down next to her. "Hey." She whispered, eyes meeting Carlys and she could immediately see she'd been crying. "I'm sorry." She remarked softly and Carly sighed. "Look, I know you are, but you can't keep blaming me when you get angry. I wasn't the one who hurt you." She explained. "I know. I didn't mean it." "Yeah, you did." She said before taking a deep breath.
"I will always be there for you, but I think... I think I should move back in with Sonny and you stay here." She explained, Nelle immediately shaking her head as her eyes filled with tears. "No. No. Please don't." She pleads as Carly rose to her feet and began packing a bag. "No." She pleated once again, arms tightly going around Carlys waste.
"I'm sorry, but I have to do this." She whispered through tears as she pried the girls arms from around her and continued packing as Bobbie entered the room. "What on Earth is going on in here?" She questioned, staring in complete shock at the bag Carly had packed, a pit of dread filling her stomach.
"I'm moving back in with Sonny." She explained. "What?" Bobbie exclaimed as Nelle continued crying, this time crawling in to Carlys lap. "It's the best option with what happened today." She explained, hugging Nelle tightly, pressing a kiss to her head and standing up.
"I love you." Carly said quietly as Nelle rose to her feet and followed her out to the car. "Carly, honey. Think about this. What you're about to do could set her back mentally." Bobbie explained as she gently held Nelle back, preventing her from getting in the car with Carly. "I can't keep doing this." She explained. "I understand it's difficult but you are about to do something you swore you would never do." She repeated, Nelle having turned and was now sobbing in to her chest, realizing what her actions had caused. "I have to do this. I love you, baby." She whispered as she backed out of the driveway as Nelle completely broke down.
Bobbie sat on the sofa, Nelle leaning against her and she wondered how to help her. "Nelle, honey? Can you tell me what happened?" She questioned and the girl looked up at her with a heartbroken expression. "I-I did this. Because of me, I lost the only person who has been with me through all this." She whispered, trying not to cry. "I know you may not want to now, but you can still stay here, no matter what." Bobbie said softly as Nelle stifled a sob.
"I-I want her to come back. I called Anne right after it happened because I knew I neededhelp. I really didn't mean it. It's to late I guess." She remarked as more tears fell. "Look, I promise you I'll be here for you, if you'll have me. I know I'm not Carly but I want to help." Bobbie explained as Anne entered the house.
"Nelle? I got your message.
Where's Carly?" She questioned and Nelle immediately left the room in tears, Carlys bedroom door closing behind her and Anne frowned at the sobs she could hear coming from the room.
"What in the world happened?" "Carly left. She moved back in with Sonny. Apparently after Nelle was interviewed by the Florida detectives, she lashed out at Carly and once again blamed her. When I got home, Carly was packing." Bobbie explained and Anne sighed.
"I can't help her, Bobbie and you know that. The only one who can help her is Carly." She remarked. "Believe me, I know, but Carly is done, I think." Bobbie said quietly and Anne just rubbed her face. "This will absolutely devastate her."
"You have destroyed her." Sonny said and Carly sighed. "She blames me." Carly finally yelled and Sonny sighed once again. "No, she doesn't. She's scared and you leaving didn't help." He responded calmly as Nina entered the room. "What the hell are you thinking, leaving my daughter like that? Bobbie just called me." "I'm sorry, Nina. It was never my intention to hurt her but I needed some time." Carly explained as a tear made its way down her cheek.
"I get it, I really do, but do you know right after she lashed out at you, she called Anne? She wants to fix this." Sonny explained. "I'm glad, but that doesn't change anything. I can't handle this anymore. Every time she gets upset and wishes she was saved, I get blamed. I'm not moving back in with them." She whispered as she left the room.
"This can't be happening. Mentally, she can't handle it. Carly is the only one who can bring her out of a flashback, let alone touch her. What do we do?" Nina cried and Sonny shook his head. "I don't know." He whispered as there was a nock at the door.
Opening the door, he found Nelle on the other side. "Hey. Are you alright?" He questioned, already knowing the answer. "No. I just came to say I talked to Anne for a little while and she helped me to truly understand it wasn't Carlys fault, logically I already knew that but you know." She explained quietly and Sonny smiled. "That's good. I'm very proud of you." He remarked. "Do you think it's to late? Will she ever come back?" She questioned as the tears once again came pouring out and he sighed.
"I don't know, sweetheart. She says she's not moving back." Nina responded., her heart breaking for her daughter. "Oh-oh ok. I understand. J-Just tell her I love her, will you?" She asked in just above a whisper and they nodded, Sonny hugging her as she sobbed in to his chest.
"I'm so sorry." He whispered as she cried harder. "M-me too. I-I didn't mean to do this. She was there for me when they hurt me the first time. She held me right here in this very room, and in that moment, I knew I was safe. I-I do-don't know how I'll ever be safe again." She cried, her heartbroken sobs making Sonny and Nina tear up as well.
"I can't stand this. I'll be right back." She declared as she abruptly left the room. "You're safe. I've got you." Sonny whispered as she began shaking and trembling in his arms. "Shhh. Come on. I need you to calm down." He urged but she just continued crying, flashes of being hurt repeatedly by multiple men invading her mind. "Make it stop, please. Make it stopped." She whines, beginning to rub her temples and Sonny hoped Nina could get through to Carly.
"She is an absolute mess." Nina said as she entered the room without nocking and Carly looked up from her emails. "She's here?" "Yes, and she's a mess right now. She told us she doesn't know if she'll ever be safe again because when you first held her after finding her she immediately knew she was safe." Nina snapped and Carly sighed.
"What do you want me to do?" "I want you to go out there and be there for her." She demanded and Carly finally nodded.
Entering the living room, Carlys heart broke when she saw Sonny holding Nelle. Moving closer, she could hear him quietly talking to her. "I promise you you're safe, and I know you didn't mean what you said, but you can't take words back." He explained as she clung tightly to him. "I-I know. I-I n-need her. She's the only one who can make it stop and get them out of my head." She got out through more sobs as a flash of them abducting her from Bobbies' house came to her mind. "Look. Look who's here." He whispered.
Looking up, she immediately rushed towards Carly, hugging her desperately as her crying showed know signs of letting up. "Hey baby. I heard you talked to Anne." She whispered and the girl nodded. "Sh-she helped me to understand i-it wasn't y-your fault, none of it." She stuttered out and Carly nodded.
"I'm glad." "S-so w-will you come back now?" She pleated. "I can't. I want to but I just-"
"I need you. Please." The girl screamed. "I'll come help you get ready for bed, but I'm not staying." "B-but I have bad dreams." She whispered. "My mom is there." She responded softly as Nelle looked from Sonny to Nina for help. "P-please. I-I want her to come back." "Carly. Don't do this to her, I'm begging you." Nina pleads.
"I will be there for her, but I can't do this anymore." Carly explained.
"I-I'm gonna g-go." Nelle says as she hugs Nina and Sonny before once again desperately hugging Carly, the older woman pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "I-I love you, Ly Ly." She whispered before walking out the door. As Nelle approached the door Carly stopped her. "I love you too, baby." She said quietly as she tried to fight off her own tears. There was nothing she wanted more in that moment than to take Nelle in her arms and never let her go, but the bad part of their history as far as feelings was making a reappearance.
"How could you hurt her like that?" Nina asked and Carly let the tears fall. "She blames me, even after everything." She said. "I understand that, but she needs you, more than you know." Nina explained. "Yall have to put everything before the rape aside. If you don't, then every time she lashes out, we will be right back here." Sonny explained. "Do you remember shehe got me locked up in a mental institution?" Carly snapped and Nina just looked at them before speaking. "And do you remember forgiving her?" She fired back and Carly hung her head. "I think we need to talk to Dr. Garcia, together." She revealed after a bit of silence.
Nelle arrived back at Bobbies and entered the house. The older woman was waiting for her, apparently having cooked dinner while she was out. "Hi honey. I made dinner." She said softly and Nelle smiled slightly but it didn't reach her eyes. "Thank you." She whispered. "How did it go?"
"I-It was ok. We talked, but sh-she's still not coming back." She said as tears once again sprang to her eyes. "I'm so sorry." Bobbie whispered. "I-it's my own fault." She responded as she ate her food slowly.
Once Nelle had cleaned the kitchen, she looked at Bobbie. "I'm going to sleep now." She said quietly. "Will you be alright tonight?" "I-I don't know, but I'll try not to wake you up." She responded, hugging her tightly and leaving the room.
Bobbie was awakened around 2 A.M. by a terrified scream. Entering Nelles room, she gently approached the bed before running her hands through the girls hair. "Nelle? It's Bobbie. You're ok." She whispered. "You're just having a bad dream." She continued as Nelle sat up and looked around. "I-I need Carly." She sobs and Bobbie just holds her, not knowing what to do but after a few minutes picks up the phone and calls her.
"Hello?" Carly says sleepily. "Carly. She needs you." Bobbie said. "Look, just hand her the phone and I'll talk to her." "She needs to see you and for you to hold her." Her mother explains. "I can't do that, because if I do, then I'll never let her go and she will blame me again." She explained. "I understand that but she's scared right now." Bobbie counters and Carly sighed. "I'll be right there but I'm not staying." She said.
45 minutes later, Bobbie glanced in to the bedroom and grinned to herself. "Sure you're not staying." She said quietly as she took out her phone and snapped a picture. Carly was in the bed with Nelle who had her head on her chest and Carly's arms gently wrapped around her as they both slept soundly.
Composing a message, she texted Nina and Sonny. To Sonny Corinthos and Nina Reeves: Came over to help with a nightmare and insisted she wasn't staying. See photo below." Nina groaned as her phone vibrated. Thinking it could be about Nelle, she opened the text and was immediately wide awake. "Well, I'll be damned." She said as a smirk came to her face. Sonny entered the room with his phone and took a seat next to her. "Don't worry, mama bear. There's hope for those two." He whispered conspiratorially and she laughed out loud. "I wonder how Carly will feel in the morning." She said. "I don't know, but I know Nelle will be more than ok." He said.
Carly awoke the next morning and glanced around. "No. I didn't." She said when she realized what she'd done and that she'd infact, stayed the night. "Why do I not want to go?" She wondered aloud. "Because you love her." Bobbie responded as she entered the room. "Excuse me?" "You love her." She repeats as Nelle opened her eyes and looked around, happiness overtaking her at seeing Carly. "You stayed." She whispered. "Apparently, and it was a mistake." She said but Nelle shook her head.
"No, it wasn't. Look, I know our history is coming back but I'll do whatever I need to to fix this. I love you." She whispered. "I know and I love you too, but this can't continue." "I know. I was thinking we could talk to Anne together." Nelle said. "Me too, and until we do that, I need to stay with Sonny." "Why. Why do you have to leave?" Nelle finally yelled. "You know why, Nelle." "Do you not think I need you?" "I do, but we need to openly and honestly discuss our history." She explained. "I don't want to." Nelle said tearfully. "Well, I'm not coming home until we do." She said before kissing her cheek and walking out of the room.
1 week later
Nelle stood silently on the footbridge as she wondered how things had gotten so messed up. Carly had been gone for a week. They had seen one another, even had lunch and Carly would come over during the evenings but She wouldn't permanently come back home until they talked to Anne. She sighed, resisting the urge to text her but deciding to do it anyways. Pulling out her phone, she composed a message.
To: Carly Corinthos. "Hey, Carly. It's Nelle. I just wanted to see how you were doing. You're mom's making dinner tonight if you want to come eat. I love you and I miss you." Sending the message, she did her best to fight back tears.
Carly had been there for her for almost a year, and all because of Nelles momentary anger, she had lost the one thing she'd worked so hard for, and all because when she would have outbursts, she would blame her, just like she would do before her rape. That's what started the whole damn mess to begin with. "That's why I had her locked up and why I came to Port Charles to begin with was to punish her." She thought bitterly.
"Nelle?" Sam questioned, surprised to see her out and about and Nelle turned around. "I guess you heard?" She whispered and Sam nodded. "I'm so sorry. I can't imagine how difficult this is for you."
"I never meant to hurt her. She promised she'd never leave, and now every time she does, my heart breaks a little more." She explained. Sam let out a sigh and moved closer, softly hugging her friend. "Do you know there's gonna be a trial next week, and she's not going to take me herself? I mean she's gonna be there, but it won't be the same. My nightmares are worse and Bobbie doesn't know what to do. I'm having multiple panic attacks during the day and I don't always respond well to Bobbies touch." She revealed. "Have you told her about all the therapy you've been doing with Dr. Garcia?" Sam enquired and the girl nodded. "I have, but she is still not wanting to come home. "I mean I understand why. I accused her of not saving me, but she did. She saved me the moment she litterally helped me off of the floor and Her holding me every night for the last year even when I was in Freedman has saved me. I don't feel so scared." She told Sam who had to look away to keep from crying herself. "Could I come stay with you?" She questioned and the girl shook her head. "You're n-not the one I want." She confessed tearfully, guilt filling her chest but Sam just hugged her, already knowing that. "I know, but Bobbie is exhausted." "I know." The girl responded tearfully.
Sam watched as Nelle got ready for bed, eyes never leaving the picture on her nightstand. "What is it?" Sam questioned and Nelle began crying softly. "I-I need you to change my bandages. Carly did it before." She explained as more tears fell. "I can get Bobbie if you want." She proposed, seeing the signs of a panic attack and the girl nodded, curling up on Carlys side of the bed.
"Sam? Is everything ok?" "She needs her bandages changed, but I think she's scared. She keeps looking at Carlys picture." "I hate this for her. She needs Carly right now." Bobbie explained before they heard a key in the lock.
"Honey? What are you doing here?" Bobbie asked, the surprise clearly visible. "I've come home." She whispered. "Seriously? What made you-"
"Carly." Nelle screamed, flying through the door of the bedroom when she heard her voice. "Hey, baby. Come here." She encouraged, opening her arms and Nelle immediately fell in to them, Carly leading her back in to the bedroom as Nelle began sobbing in relief when she saw Carly had her things and was really coming home. "Who got through to her?" Sam wondered aloud before they heard another sob.
Entering the room they found Nelle holding tightly to Carly who was sitting on the bed, Nelle in her lap, face tucked in to the crook of Carlys neck as Carly talked quietly to her. "Sweetie. I'm so sorry. I don't know what I've been thinking." She explained as she slowly lifted the girls shirt and began changing the bandages, Nelle whining and gripping her arm. "Shhh. I know it hurts, but I'm almost done." She cooed. "No." Nelle screamed, attempting to hit and Bobbie and Sam glanced at Carly. "We don't hit. I don't want to do this any more than you want me to, but I don't have a choice. Do you understand?" Carly questioned and Nelle nodded, shifting away.
"Come on, baby. I need to clean the wounds." Carly said softly but Nelle shook her head. "I have to, sweetheart." She responded and Nelle finally moved back towards her. "That's my girl." Carly praised as she continued her task. Once she had finished she crawled into the bed and Nelle immediately cuddled against her. "I-I missed you. "You're back." She said quietly. "Me too, sweetie. I am, and I'm not going anywhere. Sonny and your mom set me straight." "Damn right I did." Nina said as she entered the room and Nelle looked up.
"I-It was my fault." She said quietly. "Maybe, but I should have never left. I guess that's just a tense time when you blame me." "I know and I'm sorry. I know we don't exactly have a good history." "Me too, and that is true, but that shouldn't impact how we are now." Carly said. "Anne said she can talk to us tomorrow." Nelle explained and Carly smiled, pulling her closer.
"I'm glad. I know you don't want to, but I think we need to. We put everything aside when I found you and more or less, avoided our history and now it's coming back." She explained. "I know. I'm so tired." Nelle mumbled as Carly guided her head in to the crook of her neck. "Me too, baby. We can talk about this tomorrow." Carly said softly as she closed her eyes, drifting off into a peaceful sleep for the first time in a week, Nelle not far behind her.
"Thank God. Those two have been driving me nuts. Carly would come over, they'd watch one of their shows they watch and then she'd say she had to go but would stay an extra 45 minutes because she couldn't leave without crying herself. They're so stubborn." Bobbie ranted as they stepped out of the room and at the look on Bobbies face, Nina and Sam burst in to laughter. "Well, that was unexpected." She said when she caught her breath. "I'm sorry, but they need to put the hate part of their relationship aside. I've never seen such a love hate relationship in all my life." She said and the other two women once again burst in to laughter but quietened down when Carly appeared in the doorway.
"Sorry. Did I wake you?" Nina questioned and Carly sighed. "I feel this is a cycle." She began but stopped when Nina lifted a hand. "I swear to God, if you say you're leaving I'll hurt you." "I-I'm not, but how do we know she won't blame me again?" "We don't but we do know you'll always forgive her." Bobbie said with a smirk and Carly just nodded, rolling her eyes. "Whatever. You three have fun." She said before reentering the bedroom.
"That's a good girl." Frank said as Nelle watched in utter horror as he violated Carly. As tears streamed from Carlys eyes Nelle struggled against the ropes tying her to the chair. "No. Don't hurt her, please. NOOO." She screamed as Carly immediately sat up and turned on a lamp.
"Nelle, sweetie. I'm ok. I promise." She explained as Nelle laid her head on Carlys chest as she continued crying. "Do-don't l-leave." She begs and Carly kissed her cheek, shifting her in to a sitting position on her lap. "I'm not going anywhere." She comforted as the girl continued shaking uncontrollably. "Daddy, he was, r-raping you. I had to watch." She got out before bolting towards the bathroom, realizing she was about to be sick. "Here, baby. it's ok." Carly said as she knelt behind her and held back her hair as she continued dry heaving.
Arriving at Anne's office, she was surprised to see the two women together. "Carly? What are you doing with her." Anne questioned and Carly smiled. "I moved back home last night." She revealed and Dr. Garcia let out a sigh of relief. "Thank God. So, we have a lot to discuss. Let's get started."
