Everything was going wrong.
Hank had been locked up, the Judge believing that he was a threat to the community.
Sabertooth had then attacked the courtroom, and Scott had decided he needed to be brought back to the school.
David felt he was going to explode.
"What the hell are you guys thinking?!" He hissed as Sabertooth was transported to the medical wing, "It's like you've forgotten who he works for? What he did to Remy?!"
"He is a mutant in distress." Charles explained gently, "We couldn't just leave him there, not when tensions are so high right now. Scott made the right decision."
"He's a psycho rapist! Let him rot!"
"David!"
As David fell silent, powers brimming just beneath the surface, Charles sighed in exhaustion.
"He will be under constant watch, I promise."
"He shouldn't even be here!" David's voice was high in frustration, "When Remy finds out, he's going to freak or have a panic attack or- "
"- What's going on?"
The pair turned to the doorway, where Erik was standing, a confused look on his face.
"David?" Erik held his hands up, moving closer to his son, "David, what's wrong?"
David gestured madly at Charles for a moment, sputtering indignantly, before turning and storming out of the room.
"Charles? What's- "
"- I made the decision to let Sabertooth heal here." Charles sighed, "David… is not happy about that."
"Can you blame him?" Erik shook his head, "Charles, you know what Sabertooth is capable of. You must remember how traumatised Remy was when he first came here."
"Sabertooth needed our- "
"- We don't need to do anything for him!" Erik snapped, before taking a deep breath, "Charles… you know I admire your desire to help mutants everywhere. You know this… but Sabertooth is a cruel, evil man."
"… I couldn't just leave him to be arrested by the humans."
"But what about Remy?"
Silence.
Erik shook his head, moving back towards the door, "Make sure he's well-guarded Charles."
"He is no condition to hurt anyone!"
"It's not that I'm worried about."
…..
Logan grunted as he punched the bag again and again and again, until it split in half, sand pouring onto the floor.
Sabretooth was in the building.
It would be so easy to just go in there and kill him.
Not just for him, but for Remy as well.
Didn't Chuck remember what the kid was like when he first brought to the mansion? How he flinched at every little noise and spoke in the third person?
Disassociation, Charles had called it.
Remy still did that in times of stress, and surely that was a good enough reason to get rid of Sabretooth?!
His decision was made. Storming out of his room, he had every intention of going down to the med-bay and dragging Sabretooth out of here, come hell or high water… that is, until he tripped over a slim body huddled up by his door.
"Jesus fucking- " He spun around, wincing at the sight of Remy staring wide-eyed up at him, "- Why ya sitting out here Gumbo?"
"Remy… Remy t'ought he would be safe here."
Shit.
"Can't fault yer thinking kid." Logan sighed, "You can go in if you want… you don' need to worry about that… creature being here much longer."
"Promise?"
Making sure he was looking the kid in the eyes, Logan said it again. "Sabretooth is not staying here. Not for another minute."
He then turned and headed to the med-bay.
There were no guards to stop him as he headed into the room, sneering at the sight of the figure in the bed. His claws slid out and he sliced through the heart monitor wires, smirking when Sabretooth groaned in pain.
"WOLVERINE!"
Logan rolled his eyes, turning to the doorway, where Scott was standing, chest puffed out like he was all important.
"Step away from him now!" Scott ordered, just as Charles appeared in the doorway.
"Remy's heard." Logan stated, "Right now, he is hiding because he is terrified that this piece of SHIT is going to come after him again." He focused his attention on Charles, "You know what happened to the kid… sometimes things are black and white. He is pure evil!"
"I have heard this many times todays." Charles sounded exhausted, as Logan resisted the urge to smirk.
David and Erik were very similar to one another sometimes.
"Then you won't mind if I 'gently' and 'carefully'… kick him out of here."
"I certainly won't mind." David appeared behind Charles, a blow glow surrounding his hand, "Need help? I'm sure I can get him over the walls from here."
"David! Logan! Enough!" Charles snapped, "Sabretooth will not be permitted to leave this room, and once we are sure that he is well enough to be moved, he will be moved to a more secure location."
"The bottom of the ocean, in a steel coffin?"
"David!"
"He can't stay here Chuck." Logan grunted, "Remy was seconds away from having a panic attack up there. Either Sabretooth goes… or we move Remy to a safer location."
"The school is large enough to- "
"- They're in the same building!" David's fists were clenched tightly, "That's already too close!"
"We can't turn away a mutant in trouble." Scott glanced down at David, "No matter what."
"What about Remy?! Remy's in trouble!"
"Sabretooth was near death!"
"NOT NEAR ENOUGH!"
The heart monitor exploded with a BANG as the room fell into silence.
"David… your walls." Charles warned.
"Legion is FINE!" David snapped, "I can be angry without him coming forwards!" Glancing at his Dad and Scott, he threw his hands into the air in exasperation, "If he's staying, then Me, Kurt and Remy are going!"
As he moved to storm past them, Charles reached out and quickly grabbed his arm. "Where will you go?!"
"We'll find somewhere." David wrenched his arm free, "When you decide whether or not this is a school or a mental asylum for the criminally deranged, let us know!"
And with that, he was gone.
Charles looked exhausted, as Logan then stormed past.
"I've got a cabin they can stay at." He grunted, pausing in the doorway, "Kid's got a point though."
"Logan- "
"- See you around Chuck."
