"Good morning, Council. I trust you all had a good night's rest?"

Mrrydin sat forward in her black velvet chair, the high back reminiscent of a throne. She rested her folded hands on her new oak desk, the emerald green robes she wore draped perfectly over her knee. Today she need to exude cunning and cleverness, and all three of her advisors were Hogwarts alumni.

The trio gave varying statements to the affirmative, Lord MacDougal merely giving a sharp nod from his chair in the corner. The man looked hungover.

"Excellent. Then let's get right into it. We have a lot of ground to cover before I go to school next month. Therefore, I would like to begin with the current legislation regarding schooling."

"Of course, Your Majesty." Orion Black began laying various folders on the desk before her. "The UK wizarding government has three main schools for magicals, Hogwarts of course, and two day schools for those that cannot afford Hogwarts tuition, the Priory, and Lambert's School of Wizardry."

"What is the current regulation on staff to student ratios?"

Myrrdin opened the first packet, skimming as she asked questions.

MacDougal straightened his coat as he stammered. "There- there- there isn't one."

"What." Myrrdin's face was flat, but her tone was condemning.

"As all staff must be vetted for their position by the headmaster, the Wizengamot chose early on to leave the number of staff to their discretion, and to a lesser extent the School Board."

Lady Potter explained as she fiddled with a fold of her skirt. Subtle, but there if you were looking.

"Right." Myrrdin reached for the nearest scrap of parchment and proceeded to scribble down notes at a furious rate. "First new rule then. Bare minimum thirty to one student to staff ratio, although fifteen to one is preferred. We will adjust the budgeting for schools accordingly. And I do mean living staff, as I understand Hogwarts plays host to several ghosts."

Myrrdin set down her quill and looked up warily. "Dare I ask the number of trained first aid or medical staff?"

Lady Potter had the good sense to look angered as she stated, "just the one, Your Majesty. "

"Rule two, bare minimum of two medi-staff, in case one is injured or ill."

And the day rolled on in this manner, as Myrrdin ruthlessly changed education decrees left and right. In all, they had a list to sort and implement now, and then more for the future.

"Now I know there is only less than a month before first term of school, but I expect everything to be up to the easier of these new regulations by Yule break. Questions?"

"Who's going to tell Dumbledore?" MacDougal muttered.

All three adults shuddered, and it was a testament to how they all despised the man's methods that none volunteered.

"I will tell him myself. My guards and I need to survey the grounds anyway." Myrrdin quirked a delicate brow at the silent sighs of relief.

"He won't like it." Black warned. "He's too used to very little oversight."

"He will get over it, or get a new job." She had no time for Dumbledores nonsense. "I am in charge now, and hewillrespect my authority."

"As you say, My Lady." It was clear he didn't believe her.

"Myrrdin, my dear, these are some drastic changes." Dumbledore tried out his grandfatherly tone, if he could get her on his side of things...

Her guards bristled from their positions by the door to the Headmasters office. "You will address Her Majesty as, Your Majesty. "

"Very well." He nodded a bit condescendingly in their direction, his inflection conveying neither intent to offend, or any signs of respect. "Surely you don't expect us to be able to implement this in the next five years?"

Myrrdin shook her head gently. "Certainly not. Within the next year, to year and a half at most."

If they could, the old man's eyebrows would have crawled up under his vibrant purple cap to join his hairline.

"My dear-"

"Your Majesty."

"-Your Majesty, I know you are young, and still learning how the world works, but surely your advisors-"

"Have all approved this plan, timing and all. Please converse with them and the current Board of Governors for this school in order to schedule to begin interviews for your new staff. Now if you care to show us about the grounds so my security can do threat assessments?"

"Surely that's not nec-" the Headmaster trailed off at the looks he was getting. "Very well, I shall owl them shortly. Follow me please."

The group, containing Myrrdin, Dumbledore, and all six of her current guard rotation, began their tour at the Great Hall.

Every entry and exit was cataloged, and to Dumbledores frustration, secret passageways.

He held the opinion that those should only be known by the upper level staff, and any students who would use them for mischief that stumbled across them.

When they were done, Dumbledore went for a handshake, but Myrrdin just looked at his hand, then his face. Studying every twitch, every micro expression.

He eventually retracted his hand, offering a nod and a genial smile. Myrrdin let the man keep a shred of his pride.

She left with a smirk and the knowledge of coming change.
