Chapter Four: The Patrol through the Kingdom of the Sea
The night quickly went by for the Kingdom of the Sea and just before dawn the sun started to rise. And outside the Summer Palace, a head rose up out of the water. Young Tsunami looked about with a grin as she was excited about today. She ducked back down into the water and quickly swam for the tunnel that lead back into the Summer Palace. Tsunami swam all the way to where her parents slept and carefully entered the underwater room. Her parents were still sleeping peacefully and she swam up to her mother. Tsunami gently started shaking her mother to try and get her to wake up. But Queen Coral only shifted in her sleep and used her wing to gently push Tsunami away. But she didn't let it stop her as she swam back to her mother and started using her shoulder to nudge her mother. Queen Coral's eyes twitched a little as she was starting to find it annoying.
Both her eyes cracked open towards the other and they started speaking through Aquatic. Gill had a small grin as he signaled, "*Your daughter is awake.*"
"*Before the sun rises, she's YOUR daughter.*" Coral shot back with a slight glare. It looked as if Gill was wanting to laugh while Tsunami was still trying to get her mother to get up. This time she was pulling on her mother's arm, but suddenly lost her grip and tumbled through the water. When she stopped, she righted herself in the water and shook her head to clear it of the dizziness. Then she looked over to her parents who seemed to still be asleep.
With a huff like motion, Tsunami had had enough and decided to do something a little more drastic. Swimming a little further back, Tsunami prepared herself before propelling forward. She somewhat roughly collided against her mother's side and it made Queen Coral raise her head and groggily looked to her daughter. The princess had a bit of a stern look when she signaled with Aquatic, "*You promised, Mother.*"
Knowing that her daughter would go on and on, plus since she did in fact promise, Queen Coral nodded and said, "*All right, Tsunami. I'm up. I'm up.*"
"*Yes!*" Tsunami said through Aquatic and started swimming out of the underwater room. Queen Coral started to rise and the stirring of the water caused King Gill to rise up as well.
They both swam after Tsunami and jumped from the water. They found the princess sitting on the pavilion, eagerly waiting for her mother. Coral and Gill landed before Tsunami and the queen gestured for her daughter to follow. Opening her wings once again, Coral took off towards the canopy. Before following after her mother, Tsunami walked up to her father and pressed up against him. He returned the gesture by wrapping a wing around her to embrace her. When he released her, gently nudged her after her mother. Tsunami gave one glance to her father before taking off after her mother. Gill watched the two go with a smile.
The canopy opened when the queen and the princess approached. The moment that they flew through it, the canopy closed back up after them. The two royal Seawings flew to the highest point on the island just as the sun started to come into view. Coral and Tsunami landed on the rock and sat down at the edge to watch the sun rise over the horizon. When it was fully in view, Coral began, "Look, Tsunami. Everything you see that the light touches, is our kingdom."
"Whoa." Was all that Tsunami said as she gazed out to the sea and could spot a few islands here and there. Coral continued by saying, "A queen's time as ruler will rise and fall like the passing of the sun." Mother and daughter look to each other as Coral told the young Seawing, "One day, Tsunami, the sun will set on my time and will rise with you as the new queen."
"And this'll be mine?" Tsunami asked as she gazed out to the kingdom. But Coral was quick to say, "Not in the way you think, Tsunami."
It seemed to confuse the princess and the queen explained, "While the Seawings do govern over everything in the Kingdom of the Sea, it is mostly our job to watch over everything and guide it in the way of the Circle of Life."
"O-Okay." Tsunami said, not fully getting it. She then remembered looking at some maps and asked, "What about the islands that are outside of the kingdom?"
"Those are beyond our borders." Queen Coral shook her head, feeling a little enraged by the thought. Then she warned, "You must never go there, Tsunami."
"But I thought that a queen could go wherever she wanted to?" Tsunami asked. This made Queen Coral smirk and get up, "Oh, there's a lot more to being queen than getting your way all the time."
"There's more?" A curious Tsunami asked as she got up and followed after her mother. Coral chuckled, "Oh, Tsunami."
The two opened their wings and took off. But from below and out of sight, a figure watched them go before backing into the shadows.

After flying over the ocean on patrol for about an hour or so, Queen Coral and Princess Tsunami decided to do a little swimming to a little island. When they reached the rock formation, Queen Coral began her lesson again, "Everything you see, exists together in a delicate balance. As the queen of the Kingdom of the Sea and all who dwell on the islands or under the waters, it's up to you keep the balance and respect all the creatures," They climbed up to the top of a rock ad she said, "From the smallest plankton to the biggest whale."
"But, Mom, don't we eat whales?" Tsunami asked in confusion. Coral understood why she asked such a question and said, "We do, but allow me to explain. When we die, our bodies become one with the world and will feed certain creatures, and they in turn will feed certain creatures up to the whale. And that's what connects us all to the Circle of Life."
"Wow." Tsunami said just when she caught a glimpse of a few passing whales and thought on her mother's words.
Their attention was stolen when a shape passed over them. They saw Stone flying overhead and he greeted, "Good morning, your majesties."
"Greetings, Stone." Coral nodded back to the Skywing. Stone landed before them and informed, "I'm just here to relay the morning report."
"Very well." The Seawing Queen nodded, even though it was pretty much the same nowadays. Seeming proud of his work, he said, "Everything's mostly quiet and hardly anything to report."
"So, same old as usual." Coral sighed. Stone nodded and said, "Indeed, hardly any conflicting movements throughout the kingdom, your Majesty."
"Well, that is good." The Queen nodded in content. Stone then started talking about what he had seen while out surveying the kingdom, "Most of the seals are getting ready for that time of year again…
Tsunami tried to listen to what Stone was saying, but suddenly began to find herself very bored. She suddenly heard a small splash to her right and looked to find a fish jumping up from the water. Tsunami quietly snuck away from her mother and Stone as the Skywing kept going on and on, "The humpback whale pod near the furthest islands certainly are making a splash and causing a little mischief, but it's nothing to worry about."
"Well, that's good." Coral said, glad that she didn't need to get all worked up. Stone kept going just as Tsunami made a leap for the fish. She splashed in the water and brought her talons up to see if she had caught the fish, but she looked a little annoyed when she didn't have her prize. Tsunami looked about and saw the fish jumping not too far from her. She once again leapt towards it, but it ended up coming short when the fish managed to escape from her grasp.
Up on the little island, Stone had his eyes closed as he continued to speak. Queen Coral rolled her eyes as she started to find the report to be a bit dull. But when she heard the splashing of the water, she looked to see Tsunami once again jumping at the fish. Lowering her head, Coral kept her voice low when she asked, "What are you doing, Tsunami?"
Tsunami landed where she had thought the fish was, but was once again disappointed when she saw that it had once again escaped her grasp. The princess sighed when she said, "Fishing by pouncing."
She looked up to her mother when Coral had made a throat clearing noise. Her mother gestured for her to come back onto the rock and Tsunami obeyed. When she stood next to her mother, Coral placed her webbed talons on the dragonet's back and lowered her head to offer, "How about an old professional show you how it's done."
Coral glanced to the dragon in front of them and thought that Stone would make an excellent target. The Skywing looked a little irritated when he said, "Some passing narwhals tried to poke me with their horns, but I'm thankful that I was able to stay out of their reach."
"Stone, would you step down into the water." Coral asked him. Stone nodded, "Yes, your Majesty."
The Skywing walked down into the water and turned back to the two royal Seawings. He opened his mouth and seemed distracted again as he spoke, "Now, as I was saying…"
"You need to lower yourself to the ground." Queen Coral quietly advised the princess and the dragonet started to follow her mother's instructions. But as Tsunami lowered herself, her mother noticed that her rear was still up a little and knew that stealth was an important key in pouncing. She helped Tsunami to correct her mistake by gently pushing her daughter's back down. Queen Coral then said, "Judging from your target's size, you'll need to put a lot of weight into the pounce."
"And then I saw the two of you." Stone finished up. His attention was stolen when he could hear Tsunami whisper, "Stay low to the ground and think about the weight of the target."
"Uh, what's going on?" Stone asked as he was both a little worried and insulted from what Tsunami just said.
"A pouncing lesson." Queen Coral said with a grin while Tsunami was waiting to spring. Thinking it was nothing at first, Stone nodded, "Oh, very good, pouncing." But then he became worried when he looked scared, "Pouncing?!
"Oh no, your Majesty, you can't be serious." Stone disagreed as he started to get out of the water. But Queen Coral stopped him with a motion of her talons and gestured for him to move back. Stone just sighed as he backed up in the water and muttered, "Oh, this is just humiliating."
"Do not make a sound." Coral told Tsunami as the princess prepared herself. Stone snapped his head back to them and had a suspicious look when he questioned, "What are you telling her, Coral?"
It was then he noticed that the queen and princess had mysteriously disappeared. He looked about and called out, "Queen Coral?" He cringed when he meekly said, "Tsunami?"
When his gaze had been completely turned, he cried out when something crashed into his side. Coral rose over the little hill and started laughing when she saw Tsunami standing over Stone as the Skywing's head was slightly underwater. Hearing her mother laughing, Tsunami had a feeling that she had done well with her lesson. She ran back up to Coral as the queen commended with a laugh, "That was very good, dear."
She continued to laugh as Stone brought his head from the water. He looked to the two with looks of annoyances when something to his right caught his attention. He looked to see a column of smoke a good distance from them. Getting up he said, "Your Majesty, look!"
Both Queen Coral and Tsunami look to where Stone was looking and the Skywing said, "I fear that they're back in the Kingdom of Sea." He had a slight glare when he said, "Scavengers."
Becoming serious, Queen Coral opened her wings and jumped into the sky. She was about to go when she remembered her daughter. Flapping her wings, she turned to the two dragons and ordered, "Stone, take Tsunami home. And send a patrol my way."
"Yes, your Majesty." Stone nodded. But before Coral could take off, Tsunami asked, "Aw, Mother, can't I come with you."
"No, Tsunami." Queen Coral shook her head before taking off. Tsunami and Stone watch her go for a moment before the young princess turned and scoffed, "I never get to go with her during times like these."
"Oh, young Princess. Don't you worry." Stone said as they both opened their wings. He said with a small grin, "One day you shall be queen." The two started flying back towards the Summer Palace, "Then you can deal with those stupid, pale, furless monkeys from dawn until dusk."

Author's Note: I thought to end it here and make the meeting between Tsunami and Coral it's own chapter. There'll be a few differences between this story and the others including the original story. The next chapter may not be too terribly long. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
