A/N: Welcome to the Big Apple everyone, today's news shows the monster hunting team H.E.A.T. chasing after a new mutation through the streets and the creature known as Godzilla not too far behind.

Chapter Two: An Odd Mutation, or is it?

Bilbo continued writing in his book and started to think about his friends from another world. He remembered what they told him about them being monster hunters, even though they worked with a large beast themselves. But Bilbo was more than pleased to have made their acquaintances. He continued to write, "They were part of another team that protected their world from many dangers, like other Mutations, the Leviathan Aliens and creatures that were both flesh and metal."

In his book he drew a picture of both a mutated Bumble Bee and what he pictured a leviathan alien to look like. He chuckled as he remembered, "Though the team had their squabbles, and even more so when they joined me on my adventures.

"And during one of their hunts, it was a chase like they had never done before." Bilbo wrote down. He tried to remember it like how they told him.

Earth, a while ago…

It was a somewhat nice day in New York City, or as quiet as it could get. The only time that it got really crazy when there was a monster of some kind running around. Which was happening today. People in the streets as a creature flew overhead and let loose a roar. Not far behind it, a Jeep was quickly making its way through the streets to keep up with it. At the wheel was Monique Dupree, a French operative wearing her usual pink shirt, black jacket and pants. She remained focus on driving through the streets while keeping an eye on the creature.

Sitting next to her was the leader of the team, Nick Tatopoulos, a specialist that studied the effects of radiation on the environment wearing a brown undershirt with a dark coat over it, and black pants. He kept an eye on the creature and would tell Monique if she needed to turn.

In the seat behind Nick was Mendel Craven, a roboticist wearing his lab coat, yellow T-shirt and brown pants. He was currently going through his computer to try and figure something out about the creature. But he had a look of frustration when he couldn't find anything out.

Sitting next to him was Elsie Chapman, a paleontologist wearing a green long-sleeved shirt and brown pants. She too was looking through a computer to see if there was anything like the creature in the fossil record.

In the back of the Jeep was Randy Hernandez, a young man with tanned skin, white shirt, blue jacket and blue jeans. Though he didn't have much to do like the others, that didn't mean he wasn't useful. Randy looked between his friends and asked, "Anyone got an idea of when this thing's gonna land, or I don't know, go away?"

"Why?" Mendel questioned without looking up. He glanced away from his screen before asking, "Got somewhere to be?"

"Gee, maybe it has to do something with a certain robot." Randy said with a grin. That caused to Mendel to look back and say, "You are not going anywhere near N.I.G.E.L. or so help me-"

"Guys, focus!" Nick said from the front. It caused the two to stop fighting. Nick then asked, "Mendel, Elsie, find anything yet?"

"No, nothing in the fossil record?" Elsie said as she went through the files. With a shake of her head she said, "Whatever this is, it's something entirely new."

"So, more than likely, it is a mutation." Nick guessed. Elsie shrugged, "Maybe. But it's not like any mutation that I've ever seen before."

"Any word on the G-Man?" Randy asked as they turned to the left when the creature did. Looking between the road, the creature and her friends she said, "No doubt waiting for the signal, or for Nick to get into trouble."

"Hey!" Nick said and looked to her, even though she had a point. Randy looked up to the odd creature and asked, "What is it even looking for?"

"Probably to feed, somewhere to nest or just terrorize the locals." Mendel shook his head as he had no clue. Elsie then said, "Well, our flying friend here has just hit the internet already."

Those who could look to her screen saw what the creature looked like. It looked like a flying lizard with sharp claws on its back feet, a long neck and no eyes. Mendel agreed with her, "Yeah, you're right, Elsie, that it isn't anything that we've ever faced before."

The flying creature screeched as it flew between to buildings down an alley. Monique put on the brakes when they couldn't follow it anymore. Nick then suggested, "Try going around and cut him off."

"Oui." Monique confirmed with a nod before putting the pedal to the metal. She sped down the crowded streets as best as she could. Nick looked about before he saw it fly out from between the buildings and over the streets again. It flew out over the Central Park area and started to land near the center of it. Nick said, "Good, we can try to capture it on foot."

"Got the tranquilizers right back here, boss-man." Randy said and tapped a crate in the back seat. Quickly getting out, the team rounded to the back where Randy handed each of them a tranquilizer gun. Nick looked to Mendel and said, "Craven, you got the creature's screech recorded?"

"I sure did." Mendel nodded and held up his minicomputer. Then he said, "And you'll be happy to know that I've given N.I.G.E.L. a major upgrade. So he can help us with the creature."

"An upgrade? What for?" Randy asked as he wasn't expecting this. Mendel then said, "Thanks to a little help from Dr. Ifukube, I was able to redesign N.I.G.E.L. to where he's a lot more reliable in the field."

"Well then, let's see it." Elsie urged. Mendel nodded and started typing away on his minicomputer and said, "It'll take N.I.G.E.L. a little time to get here. But hopefully, he should be here when we find our scaley, flying friend."

"Either him or Godzilla will find us." Elsie added as they moved out. They approached the front gate just as a large number of people ran through to get away from the creature. But just as they were about to step foot into the park, a voice called out from behind, "Hey, Nick!"

The team looked back to see a woman wearing a brown jacket, white shirt underneath, a pink skirt and black shoes and a man in in a black jacket, white shirt, grey pants, a backwards black baseball cap and white tennis shoes running up to them. The man carried a large video camera in his arms as they walked over. Nick then addressed them, "Audrey, Animal. What are you guys doing here?"

"What and miss getting the shot of a life time?" Animal asked with a grin and readied the camera. Audrey then said, "We just wanted to try and get a shot of the creature. We promise that we'll stay back and out of the way."

"Fine. But just be careful." Nick said before leading the way. The park had been quickly cleared out of people and animals when the creature had flown over the park. Audrey looked between her boyfriend and his friends before asking, "So, what do you think this thing is?"

"To be honest, no clue." Elsie shook her head. They didn't go very far when Monique then noticed something ahead and motioned for them to stop with her hand. They all complied with her directions and she pointed in front of them. They looked to see the creature ripping apart a hotdog cart. A few sausages fell from the cart and the creature sniffed one before gobbling it down. Suddenly it started sniffing again before looking in their direction. Everyone ducked down to avoid being spotted and looked to see it raise its head and give a loud screech. Everyone covered their ears from the ear-splitting sound. Randy commented, "Man, that's worse than the Cicada creature!"

"Randy!" Everyone shouted at him. They looked to see the creature once again taking flight straight for them. Everyone jumped out of the way when the creature tried grabbing for them with its back feet. Monique turned onto her back before shooting a tranquilizer dart at it. The creature maneuvered to where the dart missed it and instead it struck a tree. Everyone gasped when the creature turned in the air and came at them again. Nick saw that it was flying directly at Audrey and ran to intercept it. He was able to move her out of the way, but ended up getting caught in the beast's claws. Audrey watched as the creature started to rise in the air and shout, "Nick!"

But before the creature could get too far with its captive, a large shape moved in front of it. Godzilla gave a roar of anger at the sight of something trying to hurt his parent. With a swipe of his claw, Godzilla was able to make the creature loose its grip and Nick screamed as he started falling. But lucky for him, a large scaley hand was able to catch him from the air.

Godzilla gently lowered his hand down to the ground before letting Nick slide off of it. When he was steady on his own two feet, Nick looked to Godzilla and said, "Thanks, Big Guy."

Godzilla roared in response before looking to the creature as it still hovered in the air. The creature let out a screech that caused Godzilla and the others to wince and the creature lunged for the Mutation. Godzilla screeched as it was able to latch on to his side, but the Mutation was quick to try and bite at it to make it let go. The creature gave a small growl before flying off. Everyone with a tranquilizer gun quickly raised their weapons and took a shot. But the darts didn't make it in time as the creature got too far. Godzilla roared before chasing after the creature. Looking to his teammates he said, "Quick! After it!"

All the members of H.E.A.T. quickly rushed to get back to the car while Audrey looked to Animal and asked, "Did you get any of that?"

"A few shots here and there." Animal nodded. But then he reassured, "But I did happen to catch the creature on camera."

"Good." Audrey said with a smile. Then she added, "But we're not finished here. Get to the van!"

The two quickly ran to their van to make sure they didn't get left behind.

Once again the H.E.A.T. team was speeding through the streets. The only difference this time is that they had a giant, fire breathing lizard in front of them. While they were driving through the streets, Nick took out a satellite phone and answered a phone call. When they answered he said, "Major Hicks. Yeah, we're currently chasing after it. I will let you know when there is need for military assistance. And no, we don't have an assessment of what it could be.

"Okay, then." Nick said before hanging up the phone. Looking to the other he said, "I've got the military on standby for now."

"Do you really think that they'll be necessary?" Elsie asked. Nick shook his head and said, "I don't know. We might be able to beat this thing on our own."

"If the creature had not been alerted to our presence, we might have gotten a clean shot." Monique said while glancing in the rearview mirror at a certain someone. Randy then said, "Hey, in my defense, I thought that the screech was so loud that it couldn't hear what I was saying."

"Still." Mendel said as he started typing into his minicomputer. Then he said, "I'm having N.I.G.E.L. track our signal to meet up with us. Hopefully, his upgrade will come in handy."

"Well, hopefully, he gets here soon, cause the flying lizard is starting to get out of town." Elsie said and pointed to it. The creature was indeed flying towards the edge of Manhattan. Godzilla kept going as the creature flew over the water before leaping into the bay and swimming after it. Monique steered the car to where they could get to a bridge before they lost both Godzilla and the creature.

"It's landing at the docks this time." Randy pointed just as it started to descend. They looked to see that it disappeared amongst the buildings while Godzilla started to approach.

It didn't take too much longer for the team to arrive at the docks. When they got out, Monique refitted the guns with laser cartridges while keeping a pistol in handy. They went the docks to see if there was any sign of it. But when they couldn't see it, Randy groaned, "Uh, where's a panicking civilian when you need one?"

"Maybe they already evacuated when they saw the thing coming." Animal's voice said from behind. Randy nodded and said, "Yeah, that's more than likely the reason."

They all stopped when they realized who was behind them. The members of H.E.A.T. looked back to find both Audrey and Animal once again with them. Elsie then said, "I don't think you guys should tag along this time."

"We can take care of ourselves." Audrey said, looking a little offended. Then she reminded, "We've been on a few adventures with you guys, plus, me and Animal held our own against Godzilla's siblings."

"Which was still pretty much a bad idea on your part." Nick said with a raised brow. Audrey huffed from this while Animal then said, "Hey, in her defense, she was just trying to make it up to you during the first Godzilla's coming and I pushed her a little in that direction."

"Anyways, even if you tell us no, we'll just end up coming along anyway." Audrey pointed out with a smirk. Nick just sighed before saying, "Fine. But remember to-"

"To stay back, got it." Audrey nodded. Monique then motioned with her hand, "Let's go."

Everyone started to move again and looked about the docks for any sign of the creature. They had to stop in their tracks as Godzilla rose out of the ocean and onto the stone docks. The giant Mutation started sniffing about as if in search for the odd creature before walking off. Nick then said, "Let's follow the Big Guy to see if he can find a trail."

"Well, N.I.G.E.L. can help out with that as well." Mendel said and pointed out to the ocean. They saw something moving through the water at high speed before bursting from the water.

Everyone, even Godzilla glanced back, just as the robot landed. But when it stood up in the sunlight, they were amazed that this was not the same N.I.G.E.L. that had gone on countless adventures and faced before being destroyed by various Mutations. Though the head was pretty much the same, the body was greatly different. He had treadmills for feet attached to legs and a slim looking body with a few wires visible. On both sides of the body were two long arms that sported two hands with five fingers on them. The new and improved N.I.G.E.L. saluted and said, "Private N.I.G.E.L. reporting for duty."

"Woah." Randy said as he was impressed. Mendel looked to the robot and said, "N.I.G.E.L. initiate tracking procedures on the creature."

"Affirmative." N.I.G.E.L. said before adding in a more high voice, "Let's get started, Mendel, baby."

This caused a few of the group to start laughing while Mendel looked to Randy. But the computer expert of the group shrugged and said, "Hey, don't look at me, man. I haven't had a chance to mess with your toy since you made these modifications."

N.I.G.E.L. started to looking around while saying, "Thermal scan initiated."

While the robot was starting to scan for signs of the creature, Godzilla leaned down and sniffed the ground once again. He lightly growled and started to follow after it. N.I.G.E.L. then turned to where Godzilla was going and amusingly said, "Let's follow the leader everybody."

"Ugh." Mendel groaned as they followed after both N.I.G.E.L. and Godzilla. As they went down the docks, the robot looked about and pointed as he said, "Thermal imaging found."

The group rushed forward and indeed found the creature's tracks on the ground with a thermal print from N.I.G.E.L.'s scanners. They appeared to head inside the building and the entire group found it a little odd that the building was big enough for Godzilla to step inside. Those with weapons raised them and prepared themselves while Audrey and Animal stayed at the back with the latter filming again. They entered the building and looked about the empty space. Monique then said, "This does not make any sense. Where did it go? There were no other tracks.'

"N.I.G.E.L. scan for any secret passages." Mendel said. N.I.G.E.L. nodded before scanning the empty space before finishing. He looked to Mendel and said, "A hollow space underneath the concrete floor. A little force would open it up."

"I don't suppose that N.I.G.E.L. could open up the hatch, could he?" Nick asked Mendel. But before anything could be said or done, the floor started opening up on its own. When it fully opened up, a large passage way lead under the building. And it once again was big enough for Godzilla to go down into. Randy then commented, "Man, whoever owns the place must have a lot of property taxes considering how much property they've got."

No one said anything as they carefully went down into the dark passage way and Audrey, Elsie and Monique all whipped out flashlights to see. The corridor they were in was long and big. Nick took the lead while Godzilla followed behind. But when a familiar scent came to the mutant lizard's nostrils he roared before charging forward. Nick shouted after him, "Godzilla, wait!"

But the large lizard didn't stop and kept running. The rest of the team looked to each other before hurrying after him. Audrey then said to Nick, "Haven't you figured out how to get him to listen to you better?"

"No more than how to keep him out of trouble with the fisherman." Nick replied as they kept running. But when they came up to the exit, Nick then stopped and said, "Audrey, Animal. I need you to do something for me."

"What is it, Nick?" Audrey asked and they all stopped. Nick turned to her and said, "I need you and Animal to go back."

"What? Why?" Both asked. Nick then said, "I know that we agreed to let you tag along, but I have a bad feeling about this."

Catching on to what Nick was saying, Elsie then said, "He's got a point. If things go south in there, we'll need someone to get ahold of Major Hicks."

"But-" Animal started to protest until a slight nudge from Audrey stopped him. She looked to Nick and said, "Okay. We'll play this your way."

"Thanks, Audrey." Nick said with a smile. Audrey then said, "Just be careful, you guys."

"Aw, she cares about us." Elsie teased, causing both Randy and Mendel to chuckle. Audrey then said, "Pff, you wish."

Nick and the others then ran after Godzilla again while Audrey and Animal ran back in the other direction. They entered another room with a space even bigger than the previous. Godzilla stood in the middle of the room and was growling as he looked about. But it was so big and the group could feel as if they were being watched. A feminine voice then said from the darkness, "It seems that you made it on time."

"I feel like I know that voice." Elsie said as it sounded a little familiar to all of them. Another voice then said, "You guys sure have caused a lot of trouble for us in the past."

That one word was the clicker, not to mention the voices. Nick then demanded, "Why don't you step into the light, Hank."

"I've got a much better idea." Hank said in the dark. The lights in the massive room suddenly flickered on and Godzilla and the H.E.A.T. team shielded their eyes from the bright lights. When they looked they were shocked by what they saw. A good number of Cyber-Flies were either hovering in the air or standing on the ground or walls. The Cyber-Flies looked like Winter's models, but had different coloring about them. But standing at the front of the enemy army was Hank, the monster trapper and Alexandra Springer, leader of the radical group of S.C.A.L.E. Both convicts were dressed in strange armor with a symbol with a cat's eye on it.

"It's a trap!" N.I.G.E.L. yelled, and this time Mendel glare at Randy as they knew the robot was correct.

"How are the two of you out of prison after the stunts you pulled?" Nick questioned with a glare. Alexandra then said, "Let's just say that someone paid for our bail."

"Let us guess. Cameron Winter again?" Mendel asked, thinking that it was him again. But to their surprise, Hank shook his head and said, "Nah, it ain't Rich Boy this time. It was some other fella that got the two of us out."

"Enough small talk." Monique said and raised her weapon at the two. Then she questioned, "Where is the creature?"

"What, we ain't good enough for you?" Hank sarcastically questioned. He smirked when he said, "But any who, the creature did its job in luring you here. And now it's back where it belongs."

"Which is more than we can say for you." Alexandra said before motioning with her hand to the Cyber-Flies. The robots started moving their wings before taking off and flying towards the group.

Elsie screamed when one flew and ducked down before it could attack her. When she stood up again she fired at it. The Cyber-Fly exploded into a fiery inferno while the fighting continued. Everyone on the H.E.A.T. team fired at the Cyber-Flies as they flew at them while Godzilla roared and unleashed his Atomic Breath attack and burned a few. Nick, Elsie and Craven stood back-to-back as they blasted at a few Cyber-Flies from the floor or air. Even N.I.G.E.L. was contributing by dodging the incoming flying robots before one of his hand switched out for a minigun arm. It opened fire and at least knocked a few out of the air. Randy had caught a glimpse of the action and asked Mendel, "One of the upgrades?"

"One of several." Mendel said with a smirk before shrieking and ducking down under a laser blast. He stood up and continued firing.

Godzilla crushed a few of the Cyber-Flies when they landed at his feet before looking to Hank and Alexandra and roared. The two raised their weapons and started shooting at the Mutation. But the laser blasts hardly fazed Godzilla as he rushed at them. But before he could even get close, the creature leapt from the shadows and landed on the back of Godzilla's head. The giant lizard tried to throw it off his head, but it had dug its talons in to stay attached.

Nick saw his giant friend/surrogate son's predicament and quickly took aim at it. He let loose a shot and it struck the creature in its wing. It screeched before letting go of Godzilla and the Mutation quickly turned to attack it. The creature was able to keep out of reach of Godzilla's jaws and remained airborne. The creature flew down and both convicts jumped onto it as it flew by. It flew off with its passengers and Godzilla chased after it.

"Come on!" Nick shouted to the others. They were able to clear a path through the Cyber-Flies as they followed after Godzilla.

They came to another part of the underground space where a structure joined by four legs and the center came down in a pointed arch. Monique raised her weapon and fired a single shot. The laser blast sailed past Godzilla and hit the creature right in the wing. It caused it and its passengers to fall from the air. Hank and Alexandra screamed when they crashed to the ground under the arch.

The creature was the first to rise and the two fell off its back. When they rose up again, the H.E.A.T. team surrounded them with Godzilla menacingly hovering over them. Nick then questioned, "Okay, so besides revenge, what's this really all about?"

"Let's just say, that where you're going…" Hank said as he slowly rose up as did the other two, "You'll be out of our way in no time."

"Huh?" Everyone asked before a fire portal opened up beneath the three's feet. They fell through, leaving a bewildered group behind. Suddenly, the archway around them started to glow green.

Everyone became a little nervous when green lightning flashed around the arch. Godzilla acted by tilting his head up and opening his jaws wide. He unleashed another Green Atomic Breath attack and the beam hit the middle of archway. The flames from the beam caused a small explosion just as the machine went off. A beam of energy shot down to the center of the structure before touching down on the floor. No one was expecting for the bright light to quickly expand outward and engulfed them. Everyone, Man, robot and Mutation let out a startled cry as they disappeared.

Author's Note: Yeah, I did a little editing and it's going to be a little different than I had planned. In the next chapter we get to Middle-earth, and I am excited. I'll go ahead and do the next chapter before focusing on some of my other stories. And FYI, expect the unexpected. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
