Chapter Four: Unexpected Guests
Mendel and Bilbo walked across the bridge to the marketplace, and the former noticed all the stares that he was receiving. He looked down to Bilbo and said, "It's almost like you guys have never seen a Man before."
"Well, to be fair, we hardly get them around here." Bilbo pointed out with a nod. Then he looked to the Man and said, "Plus, we've never really seen a Man dressed in your kind of clothing before."
"Fair enough." Mendel nodded as he couldn't argue with that. They stopped at one of the stalls and Mendel hung back while Bilbo made a few purchases. As he handed the merchant some money, the Hobbit running the stall said, "A bit of an odd one you have there, Mr. Bilbo."
"Eh, sort of." Bilbo said when he slightly glanced back to Mendel. But he shrugged when he said, "But he's not so bad of company."
"Well, if you say so, Mr. Bilbo." The vegetable merchant said and Bilbo took the fish. He rejoined Mendel on the side and placed some of the items in a basket. Mendel then asked the Hobbit, "So, where to next?"
"I just need to get a few spices, a few trout for the lot of us for supper, just in case." Bilbo said before pulling out a shopping list. When he looked over it he said, "And after that, we'll head back to Bag End."
"Sounds good to me." Mendel said and followed after the Hobbit.
The rest of the shopping went by quickly, even if the two did get odd stares from the other Hobbits. When they came to the final stall, Bilbo picked out a few trout. But as he was handing the merchant some coins, Bilbo asked, "Don't suppose any Wizards, like Gandalf the Grey, have passed through here?"
"Not to my knowledge, Mr. Bilbo." The fish merchant shook his head. Bilbo just sighed before taking the wrapped fish from the merchant. With a nod he bid the fish merchant a good day.
But as they were starting to head back across a bridge, Bilbo glanced back and noticed something amongst the stalls. He started to walk a little faster, which Mendel took notice of and asked, "Uh, you okay there, Bilbo?"
"I think I see him." Bilbo said as he slowed down. Mendel looked back and asked, "Who?"
"Gandalf. On the other side of those stalls." The Hobbit of Bag-End said as he came back and pointed. Mendel looked about before noticing what looked like a pointed hat amongst the tops of the stalls. Raising a brow he said, "Weird, I thought that he wouldn't be back for hours."
"Maybe he came back early to try again to make me go on some ludicrous adventure." Bilbo said as he turned to get across the bridge. But as he watched, Mendel's eyes widened and he said, "Uh, Bilbo?"
The Hobbit stopped and looked to the Man. Mendel pointed and said with a small smile, "I think I see your 'Wizard'."
Bilbo looked again and his eyes widened as well when he saw that it was not Gandalf, but a Hobbit with his arms full of bundles of cloth with the top in the shape of a point. Bilbo sighed to have been worked up and Mendel said, "Just take it easy there, Bilbo."
"Perhaps you're right." Bilbo agreed and the two headed back to the Hobbit's home.

Elsewhere, with Nick and Elsie…
After following Bilbo's directions, Nick and Elsie finally made it to what appeared to be the library. The library, like just about every other building in the Shire, looked to be a hole in the ground. The two walked up to the door and Nick knocked on it. The door opened and a Hobbit woman opened it. She looked up to the Man and the Woman and asked, "Yes?"
"Um, we were mostly wondering if we could take a look around." Elsie said with a kind smile. The Hobbit woman shook her head and said, "I don't see why not. It's just that we don't get many from the world Men around here. Especially one's with clothing such as yours."
"We're getting that a lot and we'll take your word for it." Nick nodded. The librarian opened the door and said, "Come in. Come in."
Nick and Elsie had to duck under the opening and they were both surprised to see that the Hobbit library was a lot more roomy on the inside than it appeared on the outside. There were shelves that reached up to the ceiling and ladders to help reach the higher shelves. Elsie could hardly take her eyes off of it as she said, "Mendel's gonna be sore that he missed a place like this."
"I'll say." Nick agreed with her. The librarian Hobbit then looked up to the two and asked, "Now, what kind of books were you looking for?"
"Mostly about the plants and animals of Middle-earth?" Elsie asked. The librarian Hobbit nodded her head and started to lead the two through the library. Nick then asked, "Is there any books on Wizards, legends or that sort of thing?"
"Oh, there are a few." She nodded and pointed to the higher shelves. Looking to Nick she said, "You'll have to search those shelves to find them."
"Thank you." Nick said and walked over to a ladder while Elsie continued to follow the librarian Hobbit.

Elsewhere, with Monique and Randy…
The two were walking down one of the many paths of Hobbiton and they took in the sights as they walked. Randy then asked, "So, what exactly are we supposed to be finding on this little nature walk?"
"It's been a few hours since our arrival here." Monique reminded. She looked to her friend and said, "Perhaps there is news of odd ongoings that have spread to the Shire."
"Like a metal man or giant fire breathing lizard?" Randy asked, believing that who she was talking about. Monique nodded and said, "Perhaps if we should run into another Hobbit, we could ask them."
"Sounds like a decent enough plan." Randy agreed as they kept walking down the path.
As they were walking, they came upon a rich looking Hobbit. The rich Hobbit stopped and said, "I say, where do the two of you hail from?"
"Uh, from far away." Randy said. Monique then questioned, "Have you by any chance heard rumors or stories of anything unusual?"
"Only thing that's unusual around here lately is you, love." The Hobbit said with a shake of his head. Randy then said, "Uh, thanks, mister."
"My pleasure." The Hobbit said before continuing to walk off. Randy looked to the French spy and asked, "Now what? I mean if he hasn't heard anything by now, then I don't think any of the other Hobbits know anything either."
"Then, we should go back to Bag-End and wait for Gandalf." Monique suggested and thought about it some more. Then she said, "Perhaps he can give us some insight of what we should do."
"That's a good point." Randy agreed as they started to make their way back to Bag-End.

Back with Nick and Elsie…
Both scientists were currently sitting at a table looking over what books that they could find. They didn't notice the sun starting to go down as the sunlight moved. Elsie glanced over to him with a sigh, "Well, from what I've found, most of the flora and fauna are the same as our Earth's."
"And the difference?" Nick asked, looking up from his book. Elsie said, "Well, there are a few different medicinal herbs like Kingsfoil and others. As for creatures; take a look."
She turned the book so he could see humanoid creatures. Some looked to be bald and scary looking while others had long flowing hair or thick beards. Nick looked back to Elsie and asked, "What are those things?"
"Well, apparently, there are actual Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, Dwarves and Elves." Elsie said while turning the book back to her. Then with a shake of her head she said, "But not all of them seem to be as friendly as Gandalf or the Hobbits."
"We'll just have to wait and see." Nick guessed. Elsie then asked, "What about on your end?"
"Well, there is a little on Wizards, but not much." Nick shook his head. Then he said, "It mostly contains information about a few wars over the Ages, but nothing more really."
"Excuse me, dears." The librarian Hobbit said as she walked up to their table, "But I'm afraid that library will be closing soon. You'll have to come back tomorrow if you choose."
"Uh, thanks, but I highly doubt that we'll be able to come back." Nick said as he and Elsie picked up their books. They moved to place the books back on the shelves.

Bilbo and Mendel arrived back at Bag-End to find that it was still standing. And it surprised Mendel a bit. He smirked when he said, "I was sure that Randy would have done something by now."
"Done something?" Bilbo asked, becoming a little worried. Looking up to the Man he asked, "What would he have done?"
"Oh, nothing." Mendel shook his head. He made it sound like a joke when he said, "Randy's a bit of a jokester, but I'm sure that he was on his bast behavior."
"Really?" Bilbo asked hopefully. Mendel could only shrug and say, "One can only hope."
The two quickly opened and shut the gate behind them before walking up to the door. Bilbo took a deep breath before opening it. Mendel and Bilbo looked inside to see that everything looked just like how they left it when they went out earlier. Mendel shut the door behind him and Bilbo and called out, "Guys?! Are you back yet?"
"We were the first ones back, Mendel." Randy said and walked through the adjoining hallway. Bilbo then asked, "So, uh, what have the two of you been doing while we were gone?"
"Nothing much." Randy said as Monique joined them. He looked about and said, "We decided to take a quickly look about of the place. Just looking at all the pictures and other items of the place."
"Your home is quite, lovely." Monique complimented to the Hobbit. Bilbo nodded and said, "Thank you for your kind words, Ms. Dupree."
"I wonder how much longer Nick and Elsie will be?" Mendel asked and looked out the window next to the door. Suddenly, the door opened and smooshed Mendel against the wall. Randy had a smile and he said, "Hey, you're back."
"Yeah, luckily it didn't take us too long to get back from the library." Nick said. Elsie looked about and asked, "Hey, where's Mendel?"
"I believe he is behind the door." Monique said and pointed to where the four last saw the roboticist. Elsie moved the door and Mendel woozily stepped forward. Elsie was quick to apologize, "Sorry, Mendel."
"No big." Mendel said before shaking his head. With a small clap of his hands, Bilbo said, "Well, now that that's settled, I guess I should get started preparing dinner for us all then."
"Just let us know if we can help." Nick offered. Bilbo nodded and said, "And I thank you."
Bilbo walked to the kitchen with Mendel and Elsie following after him. Randy happened to look to see Nick's face and asked, "Everything okay, buddy?"
"I'm just worried about Godzilla." Nick said. Looking to the door he hoped that the big guy was alright, "I mean he and N.I.G.E.L. are out there in a big new world that they don't know about."
"Ah, don't worry, Heffe." Randy said and wrapped an arm around his friend's shoulder. He tried to cheer their leader by saying, "We all know that with Doc's new upgrades to N.I.G.E.L. the robot is most likely just fine. And as for the G-Man, I hardly doubt that he'll have trouble dealing with whatever this place has got."
"Randy is correct." Monique said, agreeing with him on that much. Then she added, "And we know that it is very difficult for anything or anyone to kill Godzilla."
"You're both right." Nick agreed. He turned to them and said, "Let's go and see if we can't help Bilbo."
"Now we're talking." Randy said while rubbing his hands together. They walked through the Hobbit's home and he said, "I'm starving."
Nick, Mendel and Monique just rolled their eyes as they kept walking.

Elsewhere…
In the middle of the forest a good deal away from the Shire, a metallic body laid facing up to the sky. The robot's insides started whirring to life again before the multi-colored eye started flickering. N.I.G.E.L. then shot up and said with a Southern accent, "Whoo-wee! Now I know how a cow feels when tornado hits!"
N.I.G.E.L. looked about and saw that he was completely alone in an unknown forest. In his regular voice he said, "Accessing G.P.S."
It took him a moment before saying, "Error, unable to access location.
"Well, zat's just great!" He said with a German accent. N.I.G.E.L. then said, "Activating locater beacon."
His eyes flashed before he turned a certain direction and used the wheels on his feet to zoom through the forest. He continued to follow the signal to wherever Mendel and the team was.

Elsewhere…
Laying on the side of a river, a trio of Men warily walked up to a giant mound of flesh. The chest rose and fell with each breath. One of the men asked, "What do you think it is?"
"I don't know." Another shook his head. He waved his hand in front of his face and said, "But it smells greatly of fish. Whew!"
"Maybe it came from the sea?" The third one suggested with a shrug. The two looked back to him and one of them said, "The sea is a great deal away to the West."
"And it was reported just a few hours ago." The other added. The three continued to walk up to the head of the creature. When they made it, they saw that the creature had a square head, large scutes on the back. One picked up a stick and started poking the creature in the lower jaw.
Suddenly, the right eye snapped open and it caused all three Men to scream and move back. Godzilla then rose from his spot and looked about. He could tell that he was somewhere new, and his parent wasn't anywhere nearby. Godzilla spotted the three Men and let loose a small roar. They all screamed again before running off.
Godzilla raised his head and took a few good sniffs. It was faint on the wind, but he picked up his parent's scent a little ways away. But when Godzilla took a step towards his parent, he stopped before glancing behind him. He didn't know why, but he felt as if he should head that way. Godzilla looked between the two different paths before making a choice. He turned to the direction away from his parent and headed off.

The sun was starting to set over the Shire as Bilbo had finished preparing him and the team's dinner. Bilbo, Elsie and Mendel were in the kitchen cooking up the vegetables and trout, Nick, Randy and Monique were setting the table. Randy looked out the window and said, "Well, it's getting close to sundown. I wonder where Gandalf could be?"
"Just be patient, Randy." Monique said and placed a plate down. She looked to him and said, "He'll be back."
"All we can do is wait." Nick agreed as he brought over a few silverware. They looked over to see Bilbo, Elsie and Mendel bring over some plates. Setting the plates of trout and vegetables on the table, all six sat down to eat.
The Hobbit handed out a few handkerchiefs out to the group before placing his over his clothing while tucking it into his shirt. He picked up a plate of seasoning and offered it to the group. Nick, Elsie and Monique took a little while Randy and Mendel politely declined. Bilbo then began spreading some over his own dinner.
Outside of Bilbo's house, a figure's shadow approached the door and looked down at the marking as it glowed blue in the night. Back inside the house, Bilbo and the five were about to start eating when the doorbell rang. Everyone looked in the direction of the door before it ran again. Bilbo was a little agitated, but felt a little relieved. Looking to the group he said, "That must be Gandalf now."
"Well, we still thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Bilbo." Mendel said as the group started to get up. Bilbo looked to each of them and said, "Well, I may not have known the five of you long enough," He nodded when he said, "but you do make very good company."
The team all smiled as they walked to the door. When they came up to the door, the bell rung a third time. Bilbo opened the door expecting to see Gandalf. But everyone was surprised to see not the Wizard, but a short bald man had a long mustache, beard and hair on the back of his head, he wore a cloak over clothes made of fur and had an axe or two strapped to his body. The short man introduced himself with a bow, "Dwalin, at your service."
"Hm. Uh…" Bilbo tried to find his voice. He quickly found it and bowed as he said, "Bilbo Baggins, at yours."
"And you?" Dwalin asked the team. Nick gestured to each of them and said, "This is Randy, Mendel, Elsie, Monique and I'm Nick."
"A pleasure." Dwalin said as he looked about past them. Bilbo then asked him, "Um, do we know each other?"
"No." Dwalin curtly said to the Hobbit and walked through the door. Randy looked to him and said, "Don't the new guests wait to be let in by the host?"
"And yet I was told to come right in." Dwalin shot back, confusing most of the group. He walked in and handed Mendel his cloak before asking, "Which way, laddie?"
He walked down the hall as if looking for something, "Is it down here?"
"Is what down where?" Bilbo asked, still not clear on what was happening. Dwalin looked to the Hobbit and said, "Supper. He said that there'd be food. And lots of it."
"He- He said?" Bilbo asked, really confused. He looked between Dwalin and the group when he asked, "Who said?"
Randy shrugged as he nor any of the other Men or Women knew what was going on. Mendel leaned down and asked, "Uh, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that's not a Hobbit."
"Uh, no, he's a Dwarf." The Hobbit verified. Bilbo, Nick, Monique, Randy, Elsie and Mendel all followed after the Dwarf as he made his way into through the Hobbit hole. Dwalin found himself in the dining room and saw the plates of food. He grabbed one and Randy said, "Hey, that's mine!"
But Dwalin didn't seem to really care as he started to eat. He seemed to enjoy the food as he kept eating. Randy muttered to himself, "Lousy, little-"
He was stopped when Elsie nudged him in the gut before shushing him. All six were a little disgusted when Dwalin started to eat with his mouth open. Dwalin glanced over to the Hobbit and asked, "Very good, this is. Any more?"
"What?" Bilbo said, not understanding the question at first. But when he looked down at the plate that Dwalin was eating from, he understood and nodded, "Oh, yes, yes."
Nick happened to look behind him and saw a plate of food. Picking it up he handed it to Bilbo. The Hobbit was happy when he took it, "Ah."
He moved to hand Bilbo the plate who was about to present it to Dwalin, but stopped before removing a piece of food from it. Hiding the food behind his back, Bilbo handed the rest to Dwalin, "Help yourself."
The Dwarf obliged him by grabbing a handful of food before shoveling it into his mouth. Randy sighed and said, "We're never going to eat are we?"
"Randy!" Both Elsie and Monique scolded him. Bilbo then looked between the Men, Women and the Dwarf and said, "I don't mean to be rude. It's just that, um, we weren't exactly expecting anymore company."
The ringing of the doorbell caused almost everyone to look to the entrance. Dwalin looked to the Hobbit and commented with his mouthful, "That'll be the door."
"Come, Master Baggins." Monique said and the Hobbit followed her to the front door. When they reached the front door, Monique was the one to open it and standing in the doorway was an older Dwarf. He wore a much neater cloak. With a smile, the Dwarf stretched his arms out and bowed before saying, "Balin, at your service."
"Good evening." Was all that Bilbo said. Monique added with a nod, "I assume that someone gave you directions to this home."
"That they did, miss." Balin nodded. He glanced out at the sky and said, "But I'd be careful. It might rain later."
"Hm?" Bilbo asked before looking out at the sky while Balin stepped inside. The old Dwarf looked between them and asked, "Am I late?"
"Late for what?" Bilbo asked, not sure of what Balin was talking about. Elsie came in behind Monique and asked, "I assume that he's with the other Dwarf?"
"Other Dwarf?" Balin asked, a little confused. Elsie looked down the hall she came. When Balin looked down the passage way as well, he laughed at the sight, "Oh! Ha, ha!"
Bilbo and Monique looked to see that Dwalin and the rest of H.E.A.T. had come out of the kitchen. The Dwarf apparently had his hand stuck in a jar and Randy and Mendel were trying to wrestle it off. It came out with a pop and Dwalin happened to look to the door when Balin said, "Evening, brother."
"By my beard." Dwalin said with a laugh of his own. The younger Dwarf then cracked, "You're shorter and wider than last we met."
"Wider, not shorter." Balin corrected while Bilbo looked out the door to see if there were any more Dwarves out there before closing the door. The team watched the exchange between the two as Balin added, "Sharp enough for the both of us."
The two started laughing as the brothers embraced each other. All six of the others were very surprised when the two Dwarves bashed their heads together. Randy rubbed his head and thought that that would really hurt, "Gee, talk about a really hard head.
The two heard what he said and Balin turned to see the group of Men and Women standing there, "It is a pleasure to meet you all. I'll be sure to keep the lads in check."
"Uh, thank you." Elsie said, even though they didn't understand what was going on. Bilbo then asked, "The lads? How many more of you are there?"
But it seems that his question wasn't heard as Dwalin led Balin deeper into the house. They came to the pantry and Bilbo tried to get them to leave by saying, "Uh, excuse me? Sorry, and I do hate to interrupt this reunion of sorts.
"But I'm not so sure that you're in the right house." Bilbo said while they continued to ignore him. Dwalin grabbed a mug and started to pour some ale into it while asking, "Have you eaten yet?"
"It's not that I don't like visitors." Bilbo said, entering a monologue, "I do like visitors as much as the next Hobbit. Take this group of Men and Women for example."
"Um…" Nick said as he didn't know what to say but looked to his friends. They could only shrug in confusion. But the two Dwarves were conversing amongst themselves while Bilbo was talking. Elsie just shrugged her shoulders while Bilbo continued, "But I do like to know them before they come visiting."
"What is this?" Dwalin ask when he picked up a piece of cheese. Balin shook his head and gave him an honest answer, "I don't really know. I think it's supposed to be some kind of cheese. But it's gone blue."
"It's riddled with mold." Dwalin deduced, even though it was more than likely supposed to look like that. Bilbo then said, "Well, the thing is… The thing is, I don't really know either of you two." He shook his head while Dwalin threw the cheese behind him and Bilbo then added, "Not in the slightest. And nor do any of them, so we think that you might be in the wrong house."
Dwalin started to fill up a mug and continued to converse with his brother while Bilbo continued, "I don't mean to be blunt about this, but I had to speak my mind." Then holding up his hands he then said, "I'm sorry."
"You think-" This caused the two Dwarves to stop their conversation and look to the Hobbit. Bilbo cleared his throat as if he had gotten his point across. But since they heard about every other word, Balin smiled and said, "Apology accepted."
"Ah." Bilbo said before realizing what just happened. Three out of five of the group slightly chuckled to this, but a look from Bilbo caused them to abruptly stop. Balin then said to Dwalin as he filled his cup, "Now, fill it up, brother, don't stint now."
"Aye, aye, aye." Dwalin shook his head as he turned to do it. The doorbell rang for a third time that night and Bilbo turned to it as Dwalin questioned his brother, "You wanna get stuck in?"
"I could eat again if you insist, brother." Balin said. Both Bilbo and Nick walked back to the door this time. The Hobbit looked to the Man and said, "I'm scared to think that it's another Dwarf."
Nick didn't say anything while they walked to the door. When they opened the door, Bilbo's fears were magnified as he whimpered. A Dwarf with sandy hair and clothing made of furs while also a vast armament of weapons stood next to a more red headed Dwarf with a shorter beard, cloak and more simpler clothing and a bow and arrow. Nick then glanced to Bilbo and said, "Not just another Dwarf, but two this time."
"Fili." The sandy haired Dwarf said before he was followed by the second Dwarf, "And Kili.
"At your service." They both said with a bow. When they straightened up, Kili had a smile as he said to Bilbo, "You must be Mister Boggins." Then to Takato he said, "And you must be Mister Octopus."
"Uh, it's actually Baggins and Tatopoulos." Takato politely corrected. The two Dwarves nodded in understanding before moving to come in. But not wanting any more guests, Bilbo said, "Nope! You can't come in."
He shut the door, but didn't get far as the two Dwarves stopped it. Confusion was on their faces as stepped in and Kili asked, "What? Has it been canceled?"
"No one told us." Fili said while looking between the other Dwarf, the Hobbit and the boy. Bilbo and Nick were very confused as the latter asked, "What exactly do you think is going on here?"
"Can-" Bilbo said before shaking his head, "No, nothing's been canceled."
"Oh, that's a relief." Kili said and the two Dwarves stepped in. Bilbo and Nick watched as the stepped in and looked around. Fili turned back to them and started to remove his weaponry, "Careful with these, fellas. I just had them sharpened."
"It's nice this place." Kili said while Fili continued to pile the weaponry between the two. Even Fili agreed with a nod, "Yeah. It is."
"Did you do it yourself?" Kili asked before starting to wipe the mud off his boots. Bilbo was unaware at the moment when he said, "What? Oh, no, it's been in the family for years." Then seeing what Kili was doing he said, "That's my mother's glory box. Can you please not do that?"
"Um, what's going on here?" Elsie asked as she walked into the room. Kili bowed and said, "Greetings. You must be Ms. Chapman."
"Uh, yeah." Elsie said, confused of how these Dwarves knew about her or her friends. Nick looked to her and said, "Be glad that at least they got your name right."
But they didn't get the chance to ask any questions when Dwalin walked in and grabbed the younger Dwarf and said, "Fili, Kili. Come on this way and give us a hand."
"Mr. Dwalin." An excited Kili said before Fili followed after them. When they walked into the dining hall, Balin then pointed to the table, "Shove this into the hallway. Otherwise we'll never get everyone in." Then glancing to the children he said, "And we'll make sure that there's enough room for all."
"Uh, thanks." Mendel said. But a really confused but aggravated Hobbit then questioned, "Everyone? How many more of you are there?"
"Where do you want this?" Dwalin said as the four of them got to work. Then the doorbell rang for a fifth time and Bilbo said, "Oh, no."
"It's really heavy." Dwalin commented as they pushed on it. Bilbo started to walk to the door with the team following after him. Dropping the weapons to the floor in the hall he then shouted at the door, "No. No. There's nobody home!"
"Remind me not to get on his bad side." Randy commented as he could practically see steam coming from the Hobbit's ears. Mendel looked to his friend and commented, "Wouldn't you be upset by all the unexpected guests in your home?"
"Sure, I see you all the time." Randy cracked. Mendel just groaned at the joke as they kept walking.
"Knock it off you two." Elsie said with a look to the two. Bilbo then said as he neared the door, "Go away and bother somebody else. There's far too many Dwarves in my dining room as it is." He was really ticked off about it when he added, "If this is some clot-head's idea of a joke…" Bilbo gave a sarcastic laugh before saying, "I can only say that it is in very poor taste."
When they came to the hallway next to the door, Elsie looked out the big window. She looked to the others and said, "Uh, one of you might want to answer it instead of Bilbo.
"Huh?" They all asked as Bilbo reached his hand to the knob. But when he started to open it, Randy gently pulled the Hobbit away as eight more Dwarves fell into a pile that knocked the hacker down when the door fully opened. They all started grumbling as one said, "Get off, you big lump!"
The Dwarves continued chattering while lying on the floor. Bilbo and the H.E.A.T. team were completely taken by surprise by the number of Dwarves laying on the floor in front of them. They all looked up to see at least one more person, but not a Dwarf this time standing at the door. Gandalf had finally returned as he lowered himself to look through the door. The Wizard smiled to the Hobbit and H.E.A.T. while said Hobbit gave the Wizard an annoyed look, "Gandalf."
"Greetings, Bilbo." The Wizard said, his grin not faltering. Then turning to the H.E.A.T. he said, "H.E.A.T. team."
"Uh, hey." Randy said with a wave of his hand. Glancing down to the Dwarves still on Randy and the floor, Gandalf then asked, "Would you please help them all up?"
"Yes, sir." Nick said as he, Elsie, Mendel and Monique helped the eight Dwarves back up onto their feet. Randy then picked himself up and dusted himself off. When they all were back on their feet, the team were able to get a good look of the eight new Dwarves.
"Bilbo, H.E.A.T., meet Oin, Gloin, Dori, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Bofur and Bombur." Gandalf said while the children looked them over. Oin was an older Dwarf, though maybe a little older than Balin since he had to use an ear-trumpet for one ear. His younger brother Gloin was different compared to Oin since he had more of a reddish beard. Dori was a slightly older Dwarf with a silver beard. His brother Nori with a reddish beard and a triangular beard. Ori was the youngest of the three and the youngest out of all the Dwarves. Bifur was a Dwarf with a dark head of hair and that surprised them all with an axe piece in his hand. Bofur had a braided moustache and a hat with a flat top. Bombur also had a braided moustache while also having a wide girth. Gandalf then looked to the children and asked, "Have you eaten yet?"
"We haven't really gotten the chance to yet." Nick informed. Monique then added, "We've been occupied with the other guests."
"Then let us get supper ready." Bofur said with a grin. Bilbo once again whimpered in discomfort as the Dwarves, the group of Men and Women and Gandalf all started filing towards the kitchen. Everyone started grabbing chairs, plates of food or drinks for supper. But Bilbo seemed to be against it as he said, "Those are my pri-! Excuse me, not my wine." The Dwarves would pass by the Hobbit and he said, "Put that back. Put that back.
"Not the jam, please." Bilbo said as they continued to grab stuff. Bilbo then tried to get their attention, "Excuse me. Excuse me."
Bombur came out of the pantry with three wheels of cheese in his arms. As he passed by the Hobbit, Bilbo then commented, "Excuse me. That's a tad excessive, isn't it? Have you got yourself a cheese knife?"
"Cheese knife?" Bofur asked as he followed his brother out of the pantry. Knowing what Bombur was capable of, Bofur then said, "He eats it by the block."
Bilbo groaned before looking down one of the halls to see a couple of the Men and Dwarves coming out with a few chairs. But Bilbo didn't want a couple of specific chairs that Oin and Dwalin had, "No, that's Grandpa Mungo's chair-" Then turning to Oin he said, "NO, so is that. Take it back, please."
"I cannot hear what you're saying, lad." Oin said as he pointed to his ear. Bilbo then said, "It's an antique." Then with a shake of his head he said, "It's not for sitting on."
Gandalf, Nick and Monique were all helping to set the dining room table while the others were getting stuff from the pantry. Bilbo was getting onto a few Dwarves, "That is a book, not a coaster. And put that map down."
Dori came up to the Wizard and asked, "Excuse me, Mister Gandalf?"
"Yes, Dori?" Gandalf said while turning to him. The Dwarf had a tray with a tea pot and some cup and asked while pouring, "May I tempt you with a cup of chamomile?"
"Oh, no, thank you, Dori." Gandalf kindly declined. Then he said, "A little red wine for me, I think."
"What about any of you?" Dori asked the children. Nick just shook his head, "None for me right now, thank you."
"I think I'm good." Elsie said while setting a few plates into place. Mendel just kindly shook his head and Dori walked off to get Gandalf's request. When Gandalf had finished setting a few plates down on his side of the table, he carefully went around Ryo and back into the main hall. But when he stepped out of the door, he accidentally bumped into Nori, "Whoop! Careful there."
"Yes." Gandalf agreed before bumping his head against the chandelier with a small yelp. He carefully set it back into place before looking about and moving out of the way for Fili and Kili to come through. The two brothers were carrying a barrel of ale into the dining room as Gandalf both named and counted the Dwarves, "Uh, Fili, Kili. Uh…" Looking about he then said, "Oin, Gloin…"
Then with his fingers he said, "Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur…"
He spotted the three others, "Dori, Nori."
"No. Not my prizewinners, thank you. No, thank you." Bilbo said and tried to wrestle some vegetables from the youngest. Gandalf then said, "Ori!"
It was enough to make the Dwarf let go of the plate and Bilbo took his tomatoes away. Bifur walked back to Gandalf and started saying something in Dwarvish, making any of the Men or Women close by confused by what he said. But Gandalf seemed to understand Bifur quite well, "Yes, you're quite right, Bifur."
Then turning away from the Dwarf as he left, Gandalf looked a little worried when he said, "We appear to be one Dwarf short."
"He is late, is all." Dwalin said while leaning against the door frame. He then said the reasoning, "He had traveled north to a meeting of our kin. He will come."
"Who is he?" Randy asked as he passed by. But Dwalin must not have heard his question as he walked back into the dining room. A voice all made them look behind the Wizard, "Mr. Gandalf? A little glass of red wine, as requested.
"It's got a bit of a fruity bouquet." He said and handed the glass to Gandalf. Bilbo happened to notice that Dori had used some of his best glasses for it. Taking the glass, Gandalf then said, "Cheers."
Gandalf drank the whole thing of red wine down in one gulp while Gloin complained from the dining room, "Bombur's on his second leg of lamb already."
The Wizard gave a sigh of content before going for another sip. But when he looked at the glass in his hand, he noticed that it was all gone and sighed again. As he was walking by, Mendel cracked a smile when he said, "You did ask for a little.
This caused Gandalf to smile a little and he nodded in agreement. Then he moved to keep helping.
Once everyone was seated, everyone started filling plates and the Dwarves grabbed what they could while chattering amongst themselves. The H.E.A.T. team watched as Bofur bet that he could throw a piece of food to Bombur from the other end of the table. But Dwalin smirked as he shook his head, "No chance. Not from that distance."
"Wanna bet?" Bofur questioned while eating himself before shouting to the other Dwarf, "Bombur, catch!"
He threw the piece of food to Bombur and the stouter Dwarf caught it in his mouth. It caused an uproar amongst the other Dwarves as they all raised their arms up. While a couple of the team smiled at the brotherly manner of the Dwarves, there were a few who kept quiet about it. The Dwarves started throwing food at one another and a piece hit Monique square in the face. Everyone gasped as while the team knew how she could get when she was mad, but the Dwarves didn't. But before she could do anything, Randy said, "No one insults milady."
He picked up a roll and chucked it across the room. Kili was able to grab it in midair before they continued throwing food. While Gandalf, the team and the Dwarves were enjoying dinner, Bilbo was standing out in the hall still fuming about all the unexpected guests. He turned to the pantry and stopped when he saw that practically everything was gone. From the dining room, Dwalin joked, "Oh, you great galumphing git!"
While the Dwarves didn't mind, the team and Gandalf moved their plates out of the way when Fili started walking on the table with a couple of mugs with ale in them and asked around, "Who wants an ale?
"There you go." He said when someone reached for it. His brother then called out, "Over here, brother."
Some of the Dwarves continued throwing food and one hit Gandalf's plate, making him jump a bit. Dwalin looked to Oin who had his listening trumpet out and said, "I said have another drink." Then picking up a mug he started pouring it into the listening trumpet, "Here you go."
Everyone started laughing, even Oin did while Dwalin pounded the table with his fists. Oin then blew the ale out of his listening trumpet and the drink splattered over the table. They continued laughing when Bofur shouted to those who had some, "Ale on the count of three!"
"One, two…" He said while the Dwarves quickly clacked their mugs together. The H.E.A.T. all watched as Kili said, "Up!"
All the Dwarves started raising their mugs and chugged the ale down. Even Randy got in on it by chugging down the mug he had. When they lowered their mugs, Nori gave a satisfied belch. Randy let one of his own rip and it impressed some of the Dwarves. Everyone started laughing when Balin then reminded, "Hey now, lads! Remember that there are a few lasses amongst us."
But a small, accidental belch from Elsie caused another uproar of laughter from the Dwarves. Nick, Monique and Mendel looked to their friend in surprise and she said, "It just slipped out."
Ori then stood up and let loose a really long one. More laughter followed and Bofur shouted, "I knew you had it in you."
The only one who wasn't having as much fun was Bilbo as he was still fuming in the pantry. The one who noticed this the most was Nick. Since he was on the edge of the table, he got up and collected some food since Bilbo hadn't eaten yet. Walking into the pantry and Nick said, "Uh, Bilbo."
The Hobbit turned to the leader of the team and said, "Ah, Master Tatopoulos. I, uh…"
"It's okay, Bilbo." Nick said and held out the plate of food. Seeing it, Bilbo tried to be the gentlemen and said, "Oh, no. That's your supper, Nick."
"Eh, I already ate a little." Nick said with a wave of his hand. He then pointed out, "But you haven't had anything the entire time. And it wouldn't be nice of us to take all the food. Not when you've been such a gracious host."
"I-" Bilbo started to say. But seeing the sincerity in his eyes, the Hobbit then sighed before taking the plate.
The rest of dinner went as it started, with joking, throwing food and laughter all around. When it was finished, the Dwarves hung on to their mugs and had a new cup of ale every now and then while milling about Bilbo's home. Nori walked out of the kitchen with both a glass and a doily. Having eaten what had been provided, Bilbo quickly came and snatched it away as he said, "Excuse me, that is a doily, not a dishcloth."
"But it's full of holes." Bofur pointed out after taking a swig of ale. Bilbo then pointed out, "It's supposed to look like that. It's crochet."
"Oh, and a wonderful game it is too." Bofur nodded, mixing up the two, "If you've got the balls for it."
His word play caused a little laughter between some of the Dwarves. Bilbo started fuming again while folding the doily and walked past Bofur. He then muttered, "Bebother and confusticate the Dwarves!"
"My dear, Bilbo." Gandalf said when he arrived on the scene. Then stepping out of the dining room he asked, "What on earth is the matter?"
"What's the matter?" Bilbo questioned while looking up to the Wizard. Then gesturing to the newest house guests he said, "I'm surrounded by Dwarves. What are they doing here?"
"A very good question, my small friend." Elsie said as she entered the kitchen. All three watched as Bofur and Nori entered tug-of-war with a sausage link. Gandalf smiled as he said, "Oh, they're quite a merry gathering once you get used to them."
Elsie couldn't deny that as she smirked, and it surprised Bilbo a little since he had been told the story. Bilbo then started ranting as the two Dwarves walked out of the kitchen, "I don't to get used to them. Look at the state of my kitchen. There's mud trod into the carpet."
He and Gandalf stepped out of the kitchen and the Hobbit continued, "They-they-they've pillaged the pantry." The Hobbit then shook his head at the state of, "I'm not even going to tell you what they've done in the bathroom. They've all but destroyed the plumbing." Turning back to the Wizard he said, "I just don't understand what they're doing in my house!"
"Well, maybe if you started asking the right question." Mendel suggested and walked up to the Hobbit. Bilbo did think that it was a pretty good idea and was about to ask when Ori walked up. He was being polite when he asked, "Excuse me. I'm so sorry to interrupt, but what should I do with my plate?"
Mendel, Elsie and Gandalf started hearing a rhythmic sound coming from the dining room as Fili walked up to the youngest Dwarf. Taking the plate he said, "Here you go, Ori. Give it to me."
Gandalf and Elsie moved out of the way when Fili tossed the plate to a passing Kili. Kili was able to catch the plate before turning his body and tossed the plate into the kitchen. Fili caught the plates coming from the dining room before tossing them to his brother and they repeated the process. In the kitchen, Bifur was cleaning up the dishes and didn't even have to look back as he caught the plates, wowing Nick and Monique. Bilbo didn't like it as much as he said, "Take that back. Excuse me. That's my mother's West Farthing pottery." He became frantic when Kili was able to carefully treat a bowl as if it were a hacky-sac, "It's over a hundred years old!"
Fili was doing the same with another bowl and tossed it on his elbows. In the dining room, the other Dwarves and Randy were tapping the silverware on the table before clanging them against each other. Bilbo looked in and said, "And can you not do that? You'll blunt them." He noticed the two H.E.A.T. and said, "Randy!"
"Sorry, Mr. Bilbo." Randy said with a grin as he kept doing it with the Dwarves. Then he said, "The Dwarves just made it look like fun."
"And did you hear what he said, lads?" Bofur asked as he and the others repeated the beat. They all started stomping their feet to the same beat as well. With a knowing smirk he said, "He says we'll blunt the knives."
Even Randy was moving his feet to the beat in the hall. They continued to do it as Kili started singing…
Kili: Blunt the knives, bend the forks
Fili: Smash the bottles and burn the corks
The brothers continued tossing the plates while the other Dwarves and Randy joined in the song…
Randy and Dwarves: Chip the glasses and crack the plates
That's what Bilbo Baggins hates
Mendel and Elsie watched from the hall as they stood next to Gandalf. The dishes kept flying through the air as the singing kept going…
Randy and Dwarves: Cut the cloth, tread on the fat
Leave the bones on the bedroom mat
Everyone started tossing their plates to Ori who was able to catch them all. When he had them all, Nick came in and took some of the Dwarf's load off of him…
Randy and Dwarves: Pour the milk on the pantry floor
Splash the wine on every door
Both Nick and Ori continued to catch the dishes as they were flying towards them. The two began to grow nervous when the stacks were really tall. The Man had to be careful as he carried them to avoid smacking into the low door ways. Even Bilbo was nervous when the two walked by the with the stacks of dishes…
Randy and Dwarves: Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl
Pound them up with thumping pole
The Dwarves started cleaning up more and more the table by picking up the plates, or in Bombur's case leftovers, before tossing them to a smirking Balin who was able to toss them to Fili. Bifur continued to clean the dishes as they were tossed to him…
Randy and Dwarves: When you're finished, if they are whole
Send them down the hall to roll
Even Gandalf had a smile as the dishes passed by him while going through the smoke from his pipe. When most of the dishes were gone, Bofur was playing a flute, Oin played a tea pot, Dori thumped his hands against the table.
Soon all the Dwarves and the H.E.A.T. team had moved into the kitchen just when the song ended…
Randy and Dwarves: That's what Bilbo Baggins hates
Said Hobbit came rushing into the kitchen, expecting the dishes to be in some disarray. But was surprised to see that they were neatly stacked on the island table. The Dwarves started laughing at the reaction while Gandalf and the H.E.A.T. all had grins. Bilbo let loose a smile and let go of his frustration with a deep breath.
But the merriment was brought to a halt when the sound of pounding could be heard from the front door. Everyone, Wizard, Men, Women, Hobbit and Dwarves alike all looked into the direction of the door. Glancing about, Gandalf then said, "He is here."
"The guest of honor I presume." Randy said to the Wizard. Gandalf only looked to him and nodded before moving to answer the door.

Author's Note: Finally, I got this chapter done. Sorry it took me so long. Been busy with life and then I got a little sick, but I'm getting better. As for this story, I'll try to get more of it done, but I got a lot going on at the moment. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
Side Note: And here is another rewrite of the chapter. What a fan said made sense to me and I just wanted to do it. But like I said in the last rewrite, I won't be doing it every time.
