Chapter Nine: A Door Opens
H.E.A.T. Team and Godzilla's Earth…
Major Hicks and a good number of soldiers had reconvened to where the monitoring room was and walked in. The place had obviously been dusted for prints and every inch was being examined. Hicks took the tape that the soldier had given to him to where a T.V. monitor had been set up and put the tape into the port. Everyone waited a moment before the tape started to play. Thankfully, they could hear the sounds of what was going on. They heard every word of the conversation and it made Hicks mad when he heard who was involved with the creature. Pausing it, Hicks to another soldier he went and ordered with an angry look, "Find out how those two got out of prison ASAP! If those two are still out and about, I want them brought in for questioning!"
"Sir, yes sir!" The soldier saluted before rushing off. Hicks looked back to the screen and hit play again. The sounds of battle became loud in the little room and one of the soldiers had to turn the T.V. down.
They watched as the team and Godzilla chased after Hank and Alexandra before coming to the machine outside. Then they watched as the machine seemed to activate and Godzilla tried to destroy the machine with his fire breath. But it seemed to set the machine off and the team disappeared a second later. Now knowing what exactly happened, Hicks looked to his soldiers and ordered, "I want all the controls for this machine figured out. Leave no stone unturned."
"Sir, yes sir!" The soldiers all saluted before complying with their orders. Hicks rewound the tape and watched it again to make sure that he didn't miss anything. But when he did, he looked to when Hank, Alexandra and that odd creature escaped. His eyes widened when he saw the fiery red portal appear underneath them and they fell through. Rubbing his chin, he began to wonder just what he, the H.E.A.T. team and Godzilla was dealing with this time.

Middle-earth…
The next morning, everyone in the Company woke up after a good night's rest. There had been no more sounds of Orcs during the night so it made everyone sleep easier. The sun started to rise over the eastern horizon once again for the quest. And when everyone was on their feet, Gandalf looked to them and said, "Let us be off. We have much ground to cover."
Everyone once again got on the backs of their mounts and prepared to head out. And as before, Mendel started to sneeze again. Everyone looked to Mendel and he said, "Sorry."
"It's okay, Mendel." Bilbo assured his friend. Mendel gave a grateful look and they headed out. While most of the Dwarves of the Company, Bilbo and the majority of H.E.A.T. took up the middle of the group, Nick once again rode at the front of the group with Gandalf and Thorin. Looking to the two he asked, "So, what's our next move?"
"I figured that we could follow the tracks of our lost, large friend." Gandalf said, and looked to Nick with a small smirk growing on his face. Thorin looked to the Wizard and started to question, "I hope that that thi-"
"And it won't." Gandalf assured his friend. Looking to Thorin he pointed out, "Seeing that the tracks are indeed going in the same direction as us, we'll just have to watch our step as we follow them.
"And if we don't see anything during our travels when the trail seems to head away from our current path, then we'll cross that bridge when we get there." Gandalf nodded at the plan. Nick looked between the two and said, "Sounds like a decent plan to me."
"It's a decent plan at least." Thorin agreed as they continued on their way.
Two Days Later…
The Company of Thorin Oakenshield had been walking for at least two days now. And now they were currently walking through a forest as they were getting rained on. Bofur had removed his pipe from his mouth when the rain doused its flame and put it away for the time being. And while a good deal of the Company had a rain coat or a hat to keep them dry, Bilbo, Thorin, and the H.E.A.T. team were a little annoyed with being completely drenched from the rain. From his spot in the line, Dori called out, "Here, Mr. Gandalf, can't you do something about this deluge?"
"It is raining, Master Dwarf." Gandalf said over his shoulder. And then he pointed out, "And it will continue to rain until the rain is done."
"But you're a Wizard." Randy said as he rode his horse next to the Wizard's. Then he asked, "I thought since you knew magic, then you'd be able to do something about stuff like the weather."
"Some Wizard's might be able to do that." Gandalf said with a nod. But then shaking his head he said, "I unfortunately cannot."
Then looking between the entire Company he said, "If you want someone who can do all that, then you should find yourself another Wizard!"
"Are there any?" Bilbo asked while Dori sighed. Gandalf hardly heard the Hobbit's question and asked, "Any what now?"
"Other Wizards?" Bilbo asked to clarify his question. Gandalf then revealed, "There are five of us. The greatest of our order is Saruman the White.
"Then there are the two Blue Wizards…" Gandalf stopped as he tried to think of their names. With a shake of his head and said, "Oh, I do scold myself for forgetting their names."
A few smirks grew through the Company. Nick, now curious, then asked, "And who is the fifth Wizard?"
"Well, that would be Radagast the Brown." Gandalf told them with a grin. Bilbo then asked, "Is he a great Wizard? Or is he more like you?"
"Wow, way to ask a blunt question." Elsie commented with a slight grin. Gandalf, somewhat hurt by Bilbo's words, but thought little of them, then said, "I think that he's a very great Wizard, in his own way. He's really a gentle soul who prefers the company of animals to others."
"And what does he do?" Mendel asked as N.I.G.E.L. rolled through the mud with his tracks. Gandalf looked to the roboticist of the group and said, "He keeps a watchful eye over the vast forest lands in the East. A place called Greenwood."
With a nod he added, "And it is a good thing too.
"But like those creatures from the stars that sought to take over your world…" Gandalf said and looked to Nick, "The evils of any world are always looking to find a foothold in this world."
The H.E.A.T. team couldn't help but agree with the Wizard's words. The Company continued to move along the Great East Road as the ran continued to pour down on them.

H.E.A.T. Team and Godzilla's Earth, Two Days later…
It had been two days since Major Hicks had given the order to figure out how the machine worked. Now, he was currently in his tent just outside the mysterious warehouse going over what notes he had. He had been informed that though Alexandra and Hank had both been released from prison a few months prior due to having someone paid their bail in full, he was somewhat surprised to find that it wasn't Cameron Winter again. Though, given how Hank and his friends had been captured with what was clearly Solstice Industries tech, him teaming up with the hunter was highly unlikely. But the fact that Hank and Alexandra had teamed up together had made absolutely no sense to Hicks.
As far as he knew, they were on total opposite sides; one who hunts mutations and the other would try with everything she had to protect them. He felt like that those Cyber-Flies were from Solstice Industries, but from what was examined after the battle made him think it over. Some of the materials that were used to make the robotic bugs didn't seem like the usual components. More like they had been manufactured somewhere else.
Hicks was brought out of his thoughts when Lieutenant O'Neal came walking into his tent. The soldier stopped and saluted his commander. Major Hicks nodded and said, "At ease, soldier."
O'Neal complied and lowered his hand. Hicks then asked, "Anything to report, soldier?"
"We're starting to make a little headway into what's making this thing tick, sir." O'Neal reported. This seemed to intrigue the major as he asked, "How so?"
"You might want to come and see for yourself, sir." O'Neal said and pulled the tent flap back. Major Hicks rose from his seat and walked out of the tent.
He and O'Neal got into a jeep and drove down the tunnel. When they reached the machine, Hicks came to a stop and they got out of the jeep. They walked up to the machine as a lot of soldiers and a few scientists swarmed it. Hicks looked to O'Neal and said, "Okay, soldier, tell me what you found."
"Well, it seems to be running on a core from the Leviathan ship that was recovered from the ocean." O'Neal informed. This confused Hicks and he said, "What? But all Tachyon technology was either completely destroyed or confiscated after the Monster War."
"That's what we thought." O'Neal nodded. But then shaking his head he said, "But it could have come from one of the other ships that had been destroyed during the war."
"Hmm. That's true." Hicks agreed with a nod of his own. Then he asked, "Think it could bring Tatopoulos and his friends back?"
"We have not figured that out yet, sir." O'Neal shook his head. Hicks then asked, "So, I doubt that you've figured out a way to at least turn it on, huh?"
"We are studying the controls, but we were hesitant to attempt anything." O'Neal admitted. Then he said the reasons why, "During the first use of the machine, a couple of city blocks went through a five-hour black out."
"Huh, so this thing needs a lot of power?" Hicks surmised. O'Neal nodded and said, "Yes, sir."
Suddenly, the lights started to flicker and it made everyone look about the chamber. Then green lighting started to flicker on the machine. Hicks looked to O'Neal in confusion and started to question, "I thought you said-"
"We haven't touched anything, sir!" O'Neal shook his head. Major Hicks looked about and shouted, "Shut all power to this thing! Shut it down now!"
While the scientists and soldiers scrambled to comply with their commanding officer's orders, a green beam shot down from the point of the four-legged arch. Everyone shielded their eyes from the intense light when suddenly, the beam started to expand outward. Everyone watched in amazement as the beam unexpectedly shot up into the sky and broke through the ceiling of the chamber. Up in the city streets, the green energy beam broke through the road and shot up to the heavens. Everyone in the city and in surroundings watched the beam a little longer.
What happened next was something that no one else could have predicted. Large arcs of green lightning flew from the pillar of light and stretched far and wide around the globe.

Monster Island…
The soldiers and Mutations on Monster Island looked up just as an arch of lightning came down on the island. Even though the monsters were shielded to prevent anything from getting in or out, it didn't stop the green lightning from breaching the shields and zapping each of the Mutations. C-Rex, the Giant Bat, King Cobra and Skeetara all gave a shriek or a roar before vanishing from the island.

Central America…
The green lightning arch came down over the ruins in a volcano and smashed through the rubble. A loud roar came from the crater before flash of green light could be seen from all around.

Moscow, Russia…
Though while the humans had thought her dead, the Mutation known as Queen Bee had merely been in hibernation. And just when she had started to rise back onto feet and started to flap her wings, the green arch of lightning came upon her. Queen Bee gave a shriek before disappearing.

Alaska…
Deep within an icy crevasse, an arch of green lightning struck down into its depths and illuminated a lizard like silhouette. The lightning caused the creature to give a roar before it too disappeared.

New York…
Down in the mysterious chamber, both Major Hicks and Lieutenant O'Neal as well as everyone else took a step back in fear of what was going on. And as they looked closely at the beam of energy, they thought that they could see shapes moving with in it before disappearing. Suddenly, a strand of lightning came at the two soldiers and both men cried out before being struck by the lightning. When they had disappeared, the beam of light started to die down. Only when the insane moment had ended did people look about to see what had happened.

Author's Note: And I'm going to end it here. Yes, O'Neal is going to join in on the fun, mostly because I think it a little unfair that he didn't get a part in the show. Now, a small and fair warning to you loyal readers out there. I hate to tell you this, but it's all part of my plan: the H.E.A.T. team will not be meeting up with Godzilla in this part of the story. Don't worry, he will, but just not right now. And I do have plans for the big guy. Not only will I be taking a suggestion from a certain someone, but I have something else in mind as well. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
