I Do Not Own RWBY
The Game Continues
For once events were going smoothly. It's been a little over a month since my rendezvous with Roman and Neo, and school life at Beacon seems to have calmed down for now. Aiden and Iris were out doing their own research in Vale, trying to ascertain every last iota of information they can find about this world we could use to our advantage in the coming battles. Lucas has been busy training in his spare time, probably trying to bridge the gap in experience between him and everyone else to try and make Yang notice him. And me, well I was on a thinking tangent while I slowly walked towards the cafeteria to get me some lunch.
The academy dance was slowly creeping up on us, so it was only a matter of time before the events of volume two took place. We all had to be on guard for when they started to occur. I had yet to receive any messages from Roman in regards to Cinder's plan, so we were left blind to how far they were at the moment. I had to recruit more eyes. All of this waiting around for events to go down was beginning to feel boring. I was so deep in thought at this point that I almost didn't notice Sun walking alongside Neptune as we nearly collided outside the doors to the cafeteria.
"Whoa, that was close." Neptune stammered as we narrowly avoided each other. As I quickly regained my balance Sun recognized that it was me.
"Sup man! It's been a while. I was just showing my teammate here around campus. I wanted to try and introduce him to everyone while we were out and thought they'd be around here."
I took a moment to look over his blue haired companion. After mentally scanning his weapon I realized that this meant that today was it. Looking over at the doors I could only imagine the culinary chaos occurring behind them. Thinking it best not get pulled into a food war, I took my leave.
"Nice to meet you, but I have somewhere else I should be at the moment." I say. I pat Sun on the shoulder as I walk away. As I gained some distance from the pair, I could barely hear the sound of catastrophe coming from the dining hall as they opened the door.
It was later that day that I got confirmation that events from volume two were starting to unfold. I had just come back from supper and checking out how well Glenda mended the cafeteria when my scroll starting to ring. Seeing who it was, I slipped into an empty classroom and made sure that no one was around to overhear me. Answering it I hear the familiar snarky voice.
"This is Joker. You told me to call if I had an update?"
I smirk as I lean back against the classroom door.
"I'm guessing they killed Tucson already?"
I could imagine the look on his face as I guessed correctly.
"How in the hell did you..."
"The how is not important at the moment." I interrupt him. "What is important is that this means that they're starting to move their pieces on the board."
"You've got that right. They're starting to mobilize the White Fang. Cinder wants me to give a speech in a few days at a rally to promote a new operation in the mountains near Mount Glenn. Then we're moving on to phase two."
"Good. The timeline of events are moving along smoothly then. Keep going along with their plan. And just as a heads up, you'll probably see me and a few friends in the crowd of that rally."
"What should I do if I spot you?"
"Just act like you would normally. If it ends in a fight then I'll try to hold back like I did before, but no promises if I'm being watched." I could here a slight chuckle on his end of the line.
"If I'm supposed to act normally then why would you tell me about attending the rally?"
"Because good relationships are built upon trust Roman." And with that I hung up. Letting out a sigh of relief I thought to myself that I could finally rest easily. Events were moving rapidly now, and I had to get a hold of them before they could get too far out of hand.
As I walked out of the classroom I almost skipped with joy on my way back to our dorm room. I couldn't wait to share the good news with the others.
The day after I found myself sitting in the library with everyone while I continued to read through every history book I could find. At least I was trying to concentrate on my reading, but the entirety of team RWBY had just started playing the loudest board game in existence at the table next to us.
"I hate this game of emotions we play!" expressed Weiss as she proceeded to loose her army.
"Stay strong Weiss. We'll make it through this together." Ruby cried to her teammate as she leapt into her arms.
"Shut up! Don't touch me!" Weiss states as she hugs the now crying Ruby.
"Alright Blake, you're up!" Yang states.
Just from one look at Blake I could tell that she wasn't very interested in the game. I don't even know if she was paying attention to anything that was happening in front of her. It looked to me that Blake was in her own little world sitting over there.
"Huh? Oh! Ummm… Sorry, what am I doing again?" Yep, her own little world. Watching this unfold I snatch up the X-Ray and Vav comic that Pyrrha had confiscated from Jaune a few minutes earlier. With all of this going on I couldn't pay attention to anything else.
"You're playing as Vale, trying to conquer the kingdoms of Remnant." Yang tried to explain to her.
"Right..."
Noticing that the game was progressing slowly, Jaune stood up to try and insert himself into the situation. As he did I noticed Pyrrha almost looked a little annoyed.
"Hey! Can I play?" Jaune asked the group.
"Sorry Jaune." Ruby answered. "We already have four people."
"Besides, this game requires a certain level of tactical cunning that I seriously doubt you possess." Weiss adds.
At that comment I lean back in my seat and figured I might as well add something to this turn of events. "Tactical cunning? I'm sorry Weiss but who's a team leader and who isn't?" I ask with an almost snarky tone.
"Ya!" Shouted Yang, agreeing with me. "And also didn't you just attack your own naval fleet just two turns ago?"
At that last remark Weiss proceeded to simply cross her arms and pout.
"Bring it on ice queen! I'll have you know that I've been told that I'm a natural born leader!" Jaune states.
"By who? Your mother?" Weiss asks sarcastically.
"And Pyrrha." Jaune mumbled.
"Hello again!"
"Come on, just let me play your hand for one turn."
"I'm not trusting you with the good citizens of Vacuo!"
"Why not!? You've trusted me with way more important stuff before! I mean you told us all that Blake is secretly a Fau..." In the blink of an eye Pyrrha was already covering Jaune's mouth.
"Fun-loving person whom we all admire and respect" She said trying to cover up the fact that more than just a few people now knew about Blake's situation.
Laughing nervously, Jaune tried to fix is hiccup. "Right… that. Ladies… Enjoy your battle." And with that, he returned to the table more anxious than normal. And it seemed that was also the cue for Sun and Neptune to make their appearances as they walked into the scene.
"Sup losers?"
"Hey Sun!" Perks up Ruby.
"Ruby, Yang, Blake, Drew, Ice Queen..." He greeted.
"Why does everyone keep calling me that?" asked Weiss as she began to become annoyed at the continuous use of the nickname. Personally I thought it was hilarious.
"I never got the chance to formally introduce you all to my old friend and teammate." He announced as he pushed Neptune forward.
"Uh… Aren't libraries for reading?" Neptune asked
"Thank you!" declared Ren.
Due to our mutual respect for literature I nod at Ren to which he returns the motion.
"Pancakes!" Shouts Nora as she stirs from her nap. Seems like she made Aiden jump, cause Iris started to mock him after that.
"Shut up. Don't be a nerd." Sun says to Neptune.
"Up! Intellectual. Okay. Thank you." he corrects. At that I scoff to myself. Ya, an intellectual who's afraid of water and is also named after a god of the sea.
"Sup everyone, I'm Neptune." After his quick introduction, he waltzes over to Weiss to try and keep up his cool guy persona.
"So, Neptune. Where are you from?" she asks.
"Haven… And I don't believe I've caught your name, snow angel." Out of the corner of my eye I caught Lucas and Iris both trying to hide their pain from that pickup line.
"Um… I'm Weiss."
"Are you kidding me!?" Jaune silently yells to himself.
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you." Neptune replies.
As that little exchange took place I noticed Sun move closer to the other table and lean towards Blake. "I never took you as the board game-playing type!" he exclaims.
At that I saw that she was finally fed up. "Right… well I think I'm done playing actually. I'll see you all later." She laid down her hand and left.
"Woman."
We all looked to Nora who tried to break the silence. Feeling bad for not stepping in more, I got up as well to go make sure Blake was alright.
I tried to follow Blake to make sure she was okay, but she kept dodging me at every turn. After getting lost for the fifth time I gave up, realizing that she probably just needed some alone time after having to deal with so many people at once. Now having some free time on hand, I decided to take a stroll around campus for a bit. Maybe I'll run into Ironwood and threaten him for a bit.
About ten minutes later I found myself walking around the east wing of the dormitories. I was just thinking about heading back to our dorm room when I stumbled onto something very intriguing. I turned a corner and saw at the far end of the hallway my next three targets. Cinder, Emerald and Mercury. I nearly shit myself before I hastily scurried back around the corner and tried to act as casual as possible. Now this was news that I had to report back.
So, that Volume 8 finale huh? I for one am surprised that they brought back Penny just for two volumes, made her a real girl and then killed her two episodes later. Shit's getting dark. Anyway I hope you all enjoy these next chapters. Because Volume 2 doesn't have a lot going on in them I did have to add some filler. Should I call them filler? I don't know. They're more like chapters that focus more on the others and not just Drew. Drew is the main main character, but I feel bad for the other three for not giving them much chance to shine. They do have their own stories which I tried to hint at in the first volume, but I wanted to flush them out more now. Well, I've rambled on for enough words now. I hope you all enjoy the chapters to come.
