"Are you sure you want to do this? You don't have to do this if you don't want to," Jason said for the millionth time as I was getting ready to go with him to the prison. I was as ready as I was going to be. How prepared does one person have to be to talk to an Asgardian prince and mass murderer?

"Jason, I said I was going to do this, so I'm going to do this," I practically shouted in annoyance. This boy doesn't know when to shut up sometimes. It drives me insane when he gets like this. "Asking me if I'm sure that I want to do this isn't going to change my mind anytime soon. Now, shut up, and let's go."

Jason sighed, "I'm just looking out for you. I'm making sure you don't regret agreeing to talk to him."

"I'll be fine. I don't need you looking out for me. I'm a big girl; I can handle this."

"I'm just worried. Loki is one of S.H.I.E.L.D. 's biggest threats, and I don't want you to end up being used as a pawn. A lot of things can go wrong with this, and I'm afraid that you will get caught in the middle."

"I can handle myself with or without you," I said, ending the conversation by walking out of the lab. I knew Jason was following behind me, but he knew there was no point in arguing with me anymore. This was something I had to do because only a monster can understand another monster.

Jason and I walked through the headquarters to the prison. It seemed like every step we took that a new person was whispering about us. Even though I understood why they were whispering, it started to get in my head. I was the daughter of two well-known scientists that work at S.H.I.E.L.D., I'm studying under Dr. Banner, and I'm going to talk to one of the most dangerous villains in the universe. How could they not talk about me?

When we got to the prison, Tony Stark was standing with Thor and my dad outside the cell. Loki was pacing the cell, watching the room. Loki was on edge and probably has come up with a million ways to escape this place. However, Loki was also waiting to meet me. The one that Jason tried to guard the day he came. Loki wanted to know what was so special about me.

"Adara," Tony said the second he realized that Jason and I finally showed up. I would have been here on time, except Jason was trying to talk me out of this. "This is Thor, God of thunder and King of Asgard. Thor, this is Adara. She is the one that your brother wants to talk to. She also works with Banner and is the daughter of Dr. Hawkins. Behind her is Jason. He is an agent, but he insisted that he helps keep an eye on Adara while she talks with Loki and helps keep her out of trouble."

I rolled my eyes and said, "I don't know why the two of you insist on babysitting. Thor, I get because Loki is his brother, but I can handle myself. I don't need you three watching over every move I make while I'm here."

"Adara, Loki is a dangerous man and shouldn't be messed with. He is the God of Mischief, after all. He destroyed New York City, and we don't need you getting harmed because of him," My dad said.

"You forgot one tiny detail."

"What?"

"I'm also dangerous and shouldn't be messed with."

The doors opened to the cell, just enough to let me slip in. No one was able to protest before the doors were closed again. Now, it was only Loki and me. Monster vs. Monster. Male vs. Female. Ice vs. Fire. God vs. Mortal. Prince vs. Peasant. There was no one but two opposite forces.

"Hello, Loki," I said as he studied my movement. One thing I knew was not to show any sign of fear or weakness. He will use it to his advantage if I do. "I'm Adara, the girl you wanted to meet. I don't know why you wanted to. After all, I'm just a human."

Loki smirked at my comment before replying, "It's because they were trying to hide you. I knew there was something special about you, and I wanted to know what."

"Like there is anything exceptional about me," I said, rolling my eyes.

"But there must be. They wouldn't send so many guards to watch over me unless there was something about you that they don't trust."

"Have you thought about the fact that last time you were here, you killed thousands of people?" I asked. Any other person would have thought that. After all, most villains are egotistical enough to believe they are special enough to get extra guards.

He thought for a second and answered, "There have been more guards keeping an eye on me, but not two of the precious Avengers, a doctor, and your special bodyguard." I rolled my eyes when he called Jason my special bodyguard.

"They are just worried," I shrugged. I knew Loki was trying to get me to break, but it wasn't going to work. I was going to turn this around. "After all, who wants to leave a defenseless 23-year-old girl alone with someone like you." Even though I couldn't hear him, I could tell Jason was laughing at the defenseless part.

"What do you mean someone like me?" Loki asked carefully.

"Well, you are the God of Mischief, Tricks, and Lies. You've killed thousands of people. You think down on us humans. And to top that all off, you're a Frost Giant that got stuck living in your adopted brother's shadow."

I barely got out the last sentence when Loki slammed me against the cell wall. He had his hand wrapped around my neck, choking me. My back was still up against the cell door. Studying him, I could tell that Loki was beyond pissed at my last statement. That's exactly what I wanted. I wanted to see him at his worst.

Outside of the cell, Tony, Thor, Jason, and my father were all freaking out. They were trying to get into the cell to stop him. However, when I made eye contact with Jason, he knew I knew what I was doing. I could see him shouting at the rest of the idiots to back off.

"Let's understand this. I am the God of Mischief, Tricks, and Lies. I did kill thousands of you humans. I may have been born as a Frost Giant, but I will never be one. I'm a prince, and I deserve to be treated like one," Loki said as his eyes burned mine. The angrier he got, the darker green his eyes got.

I grabbed his arm that was wrapped around my neck. I focused my powers on my hands, applying more heat than I would for an average human. Once he released my neck due to the pain, I pinned him on the ground.

"On Asgard, you may be a prince, but here, you're nothing but a prisoner," I whispered in his ear. He scowled at me, knowing I currently had the advantage over him. Once I knew he wasn't going to attack again, I released him. I smiled innocently at Loki. "Alright, Loki. Let's get this started, shall we? After all, we have a lot to cover while you are here."
