Loki rubbed his wrist where I burned him and said, "I like you." I rolled my eyes as I leaned against the cell wall, observing him. I didn't really want to be here, but I wasn't going to back out. After all, I was the only one Loki was willing to talk to, right?

"Why are you here?" I just flat-out asked. I might as well get to the point here and now. I wasn't expecting an honest answer from him. Not today. There's a game he wanted to play, so I was going to play it for a while, at least until he lets his guard down. "What made you come back to Earth, knowing you would be locked up the second they found you?"

Loki shrugged, "Wouldn't you like to know?" Wasn't this dude supposed to be a god? Why is he acting like a five-year-old?

"That's why I asked, is it not?"

"Is it what you truly want to know, or is it what they want to know?" Loki asked, staring me down. Honestly, the longer I was stuck with Loki, the more I regretted talking to him. The cage started to feel like it was closing in. It got worse the more Loki studied me and the less I learned about him.

"Does it matter what I want? I'm just here to figure out why you are on Earth after you tried to take it over back in 2012, destroying New York. You were the one that chose me, not the other way around."

Loki didn't say anything, and honestly, I wasn't sure if that meant he was done with me for the day or if he was still trying to figure me out. I knew it would be a short day as I could start feeling my body begin to heat up—one of the side effects of having my power and trying to control it.

"Well, this has been fun, but I'm afraid I have other things to do besides be your babysitter," I said as I head to the door, giving Jason a look that told him that I was done if I didn't get out of here and to my medicine, who knows how bad I will overheat. "I'll see you tomorrow, and hopefully, we will get much more progress than we had today."

The door slid open, and right as I stepped out, Loki said, "I didn't choose you; you chose me." Before I could ask him what he meant, the door closed, separating Loki from me. At that moment, all I wanted to do was go back in there to demand what he meant, but I knew I wouldn't get the answer.

While I was staring at Loki in confusion, I was quickly surrounded by Thor, Tony, my dad, and Jason. I knew they were asking questions about what happened, but I didn't hear a single thing they said. All of the focus was on the green-eyed mischievous god who was currently smirking at the scene around me.

"What the hell was that?" Tony's voice said, pulling me out of whatever trance I was in. Thank the gods he did because I could have spent hours studying Loki from the outside of the cage. At least, I think it was studying him. There was no way I was just staring at him.

As Jason looked over my neck, I shrugged, "I needed to assert my dominance and let him know that I wasn't a helpless human being. It was my way of telling him that no matter if he has the upper hand in the situation, I'll just take it back."

"That was dangerous," My dad scolded like I was still a young child. I think he seems to forget that I'm not the little girl he raised. "You could have gotten seriously hurt or even killed. Loki isn't some guy you can do something stupid around. He is dangerous."

"And so am I. Do you keep forgetting that? Do you keep forgetting that I also have powers that have made me different since I was born? Did you forget that Jason has taught me to defend myself in case of something like Hydra happening again? Or the fact that I am under the very watchful eyes of S.H.I.E.L.D. since the day I have been born?" Getting angry was making my body overheat faster. I had to calm down and get somewhere isolated before it got out of hand.

"Ara, it's going to bruise," Jason said, knowing that I needed this conversation to end. I was thankful he knew me like the back of his hand.

"Do you have any concealer?" I asked him. Hannah couldn't see the bruises forming on my neck because that would cause her to ask questions. She could be in danger if she asked too many questions.

Jason nodded, and before anyone said anything else, I made my way out of the room and to the nearest girl's bathroom. I felt all of their eyes on me, but there was the one studying the most was his. I knew he was just as fascinated by me just as I was fascinated by him.

When I got to the bathroom, I felt like I was being burnt alive from the inside out. I quickly locked the door and headed to the mirror. My eyes were no longer the bright amber color they usually are. Instead, they were bright red, like there was a fire burning in them. I knew if anyone touched me, then they would get severely burned. I was turning into the monster my parents have always feared if I didn't regain control.

There was a knock at the door, and Jason's voice said, "Ara, it's me. I brought your stuff. Can you please let me in?" I unlocked the door and quickly moved to the opposite corner of the room. Even the cool tile wasn't enough to help me cool down.

"I told Dr. Banner you weren't feeling well after meeting with Loki. He understood, saying it was probably a stressful day," he said as he slid my medicine and water bottle towards me first. I quickly took a pill and chugged the bottle of water. "It's been a long time since I have seen you get this far with your powers. When was the last time that you actually used them?"

I shook my head. I couldn't talk about the last time I used them. It wasn't a good scene for anyone that was a part of it or even knew about it. I went too far and lost control, almost killing someone I cared about at the time. After that was when S.H.I.E.L.D. really tried to start recruiting me to work for them, but it was also the day I swore never to use my powers unless I needed to.

Jason tried to come near me to comfort me, but I just said, "Don't touch me." I curled up in a ball to try to further myself from him. I didn't want to burn my best friend. I would never forgive myself if I did. I was trying to protect him.

"Ara, it's okay. I know you're scared of your powers, and I know you don't want to hurt me. I'll just sit right over here until you want to talk or need something else." I just shook my head as I hugged my knees closer. Jason didn't do anything, just sat on the floor with me until I could allow him to come close to me again.

Once I unravel myself from the ball form, Jason slowly came closer to me to make sure I didn't freak out. I assured him I was okay for the most part. He started putting concealer on my neck to cover the bruise. There was no way Hannah could see what has happened to me today. She would have asked questions I didn't have the right answer to do.

"All done. Ready to go home," Jason asked. I nodded before I felt him pick me up bridal style and carried me to his car. I buried my face into his neck to avoid any stares we got.

Author's note: Sorry guys I kind of fell off the face of the Earth, but I finally wrote this chapter. My life has been a chaotic mess with classes, work, moving, trying to decide when to see family, etc. I also have had writer's block just not for this story, but even the original stories I write for fun on other sites. I don't think I will ever have a steady schedule, but I am hoping to write more. Thanks for sticking around
