I sat on my bed, typing away some notes that I had noticed being around Loki on my laptop. If I wrote it out, maybe it would clear him out of my thoughts of him or eventually help me understand him better. Then again, I studied to get a Ph.D. in biochemical engineering, not becoming a therapist—especially not a therapist for an Asgardian pain in my ass.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Jason asked, laying next to me like the bed was his. The audacity he had laying in MY bed. Childhood best friend or not, my bed was my safety from the rest of the world.

"What is there to talk about?" I asked, not even looking up from my laptop. Everything I wrote down just seemed to me like I didn't make any progress with the trickster. "Why are you here? Shouldn't you be heading back to work?"

"I told Director Fury that I was taking you home and wanted to make sure nothing happened. Plus, I told Hannah I was here," Jason shrugged. I rolled my eyes, knowing that Hannah was going to make the three of us hang out the second she got back. "So, we aren't going to talk about you getting choked by Loki or the fact that you two already have some weird connection?"

"No, because I just met the dude, and the only reason I even considered talking to him was to figure out why he chose me." Or what he meant when he said I chose him.

"Adara, you know there is so much more than just figuring out why he is back, what he has planned, and why he chose you, of all people. You may not realize it yet, but there is something between the two of you that will help you two understand one another."

"Preposterous. I have barely talked to Loki. How can we have something between the two of us? Especially since our first meeting started with him choking me, and in return, he got a burned wrist and pinned to the ground."

"But the way you two interacted, it was like you guys were speaking without having to talk. It was weird to watch," Jason said as he continued to watch me type. I was adding information he was saying about the interaction. The notes were all over the place.

I shrugged, "If we were communicating without speaking, then I have no idea what he was saying. He was just trying to get under my skin."

"I don't think so," Jason argued. He pulled out his phone; I'm guessing to text Hannah to see where she was and what she wanted to do when she got back. "I've known you since we were small gremlins, and I know what you are saying just because I know you so well. However, the way you two were around one another was completely different. You both were almost mirroring one another."

"I call bullshit."

"It's completely true. It was like you guys couldn't stay away from one another and were constantly studying one another. I felt like you two were waiting for the other to pounce on one another."

"Gross," I said, thoroughly disgusted. I knew exactly what he meant, and I didn't plan on that situation ever happening.

"Just be glad the old men weren't paying as close of attention as I was. After the whole you getting choked, they were too freaked out even properly observe," Jason said. I scoffed as I opened my project for my Ph.D. If I were going to have to babysit the emerald-eyed royal pain, then I would have to work more outside of the office. "You know that all you ever do is work. Are you secretly Tiana from The Princess and the Frog?"

I groaned, "I'm trying to get a Ph.D. Do you know how much work goes into getting a Ph.D.? Because let me tell you, it isn't easy. Now, I have to deal with Loki on top of it. Also, most guys our age wouldn't admit to seeing The Princess and the Frog."

"Have you met yourself and your roommate? I think I have almost every Disney movie ever made memorized between the two of you. Plus, you didn't have to agree to talk to Loki. You could have said no and left it to some other agent."

"You know I couldn't. If I said no, Loki would have found a way to get me anyways. It's like in Phantom, Erik would do anything to get Christine to stay with him."

"Who is going to be Raoul and take you away from Loki? I hope it isn't me because I don't want an angry god after me." That earned Jason a shove off of my bed and face-first into my floor. He burst out laughing and climbed back onto my bed. I rolled my eyes at Jason's childish behavior and kept working on my project.

Jason finally shut up for once, allowing the topic of Loki to drop. I don't know why he was making such a big deal about some made-up bond. He was the one that warned me to stay away from Loki weeks ago, and now he babysits me while I babysit Loki. Does Jason want me to get close to the God of Mischief, or does he want me to stay away? I had no idea.

"Honey, I'm hooooome," Hannah shouted as she walked into the apartment. She did this when she knew I was already here.

"I'm in my bedroom," I shouted back. Jason was taking a nap next to me. "With a rat that you need to get out of my room."

Jason scoffed, "I'm not a rat."

"You sure act like one."

"Children behave," Hannah said as she walked into my room. She had her hands full of groceries. More specifically, ice cream and vodka. "The rat said you had a rough day, so I made a stop on the way back from my job hunting, and I have ordered takeout, which will be here shortly."

"You're the love of my life," I said as I put my laptop on my nightstand.

"I know," Hannah said as she tossed her hair over her shoulder. She placed the stuff on my bed before kissing me on my forehead.

Jason grumbled, "I'm not a rat." He stuck his lip out into a pout, looking like a small child. Hannah gave him a peck on his lips before laying on top of him. He automatically wrapped his arms around her and snuggled her as close as he could. Gross couples.

"So, what are we doing to cheer up Ara?" Hannah asks as I immediately grabbed the bottle of vodka and took a swig.

"Jason wants to watch The Princess and the Frog," I answered.

"I do noooooot," Jason argued. He was acting really childish for whatever reason.

"I'm pretty sure you do, or else why would you have called my Tiana earlier?"

"Because you're always working and don't do anything fun. Go on a date. Get laid. Jump off the Niagara Falls in a barrel. Something that isn't work."

"One of those things aren't like the other."

"Shut up, you two," Hannah scolded the both of us. "If Ara wants to watch The Princess and the Frog, that is what we are going to do." Jason groaned as I stuck my tongue out at him. This was going to be fun.
