I run straight into Blaise's arms when I spy him on the platform. He hugs me tight and kisses the top of my head. "I missed you too. Are you feeling better?" he whispers. I shake my head and put my head on his chest. "Aww, Ellie." he whispers. "Mum had uncle Lupin drop me off." I whisper. Blaise freezes and looks at me a silent question in his eyes.
"I'll explain later." I mumble. Blaise pats my head as I hide in his chest again. "Can I stay here for a bit?" I wonder. He sighs and kisses the top of my head. "You know you can't hide forever Ellie. Come on, let's go get Serenity out of her cage." he leads me to the train. I sit in his lap as Serenity walks around meowing her complaints.
"Ellie. Ellie! Eleanor." Blaise taps my shoulder waking me up. I groan and sit up. "We're at school." he whispers. I nod and get up. He watches me carefully and I know he waiting for me to lose it. "Did you get the photos of Serefina I sent?" I ask trying to distract him. "Yes, I did. Your new baby sister is adorable. Are you trying to distract me?" he whispers. "Can I skip the feast? Please?!" I turn to him and plead.
"I don't think you should. Let me talk to Draco first, ok? Go find Astoria. Do not leave her side until either Draco or I come to get you, ok?" he cups my face so I have to look at him. I nod and hug him. He kisses the top of my head and nudges me down the train corridor. I quickly find Astoria and she holds out her arms. I damn near jump into her arms and knock her to the ground.
"Are you going to be, ok?" she asks as we walk to the castle. "I think so. Mum's still dead to the world so grandma and grandpa are watching my siblings until she's feeling better." I sniffle. She pulls me closer and rubs my shoulder. "Where's Draco?" she wonders. "I dunno. I haven't seen him in weeks. He said he was going to wait for me on the platform. He wasn't there so I just stayed with Blaise until the train pulled into the station. Where are they?" I whine looking around.
They catch up to us in the entrance hall. "I had to ask Snape, but you can skip the feast just don't sleep for a month." Draco whispers. I nod and Blaise leads me down to the dungeons. He waves me up to my dorm and I turn to him and hold my arms out for a hug. "No sleeping for a week." he whispers giving me a warm hug. I nod and kiss his cheek.
I turn to go up the stairs and Blaise pulls me back. He raises an eyebrow and I wrap my arms around him. "Yes?" I murmur. "Ellie..." he whispers. I give his lips a quick peck. "I'll be fine." I promise. He kisses me softly and I smile. "I'll be up early bright eyed and bushy tailed." I mumble. He hums with uncertainty.
I hide my face in his neck. "I love you more than you'll ever know." he whispers. I kiss his cheek and he frowns. "You do know kisses won't convince me that you'll be up tomorrow morning, right?" he teases. I give him a quick kiss before darting up to my dorm.
I wake up without anyone's help and shuffle to the baths to really wake up. I brush my long hair and sigh. My eyes are still red from crying myself to sleep and I put a few eyedrops in and take my vitamins. I braid my hair and put it in a bun before sliding into my uniform. Blaise is just walking to the couch when I look up from my book an hour later.
"There she is." he yawns lying next to me and putting his head in my lap. "I've up for two hours." I mumble going back to my book. He takes my book and examines my face. "You were crying weren't you." he whispers. I nod and reach for my book. He places it on the floor and pinches my cheek. "Ellie, why didn't you wake me? I would've woken up." he whispers caressing my cheeks. "I know but I didn't realize until I looked in the mirror." I look away.
Not only did I cry myself to sleep but I cried in my sleep. I lean down and kiss Blaise. "That wouldn't be right." I murmur. "I don't think you know just how worried I am about you Ellie." he sighs. "I know... I've always known." I murmur. Blaise sits up and pulls me onto his lap. "Do you want me to come visit this winter?" he whispers. I nod and listen to his heartbeat to calm myself.
With quite a bit of convincing on his part I go up to breakfast. Draco doesn't even remark on how close I am to Blaise when he sits down. I have my head on Blaise's shoulder as I eat my eyes focused on the food he put on my plate. I know Blaise and Draco are talking about me even though I can't hear it.
When I stop eating, they sigh. I turn to Draco and punch his arm. He gasps in pain and nearly falls on the floor. "How come I didn't see you on the platform like you said I would?" I sniffle. He groans and turns to Blaise for help but Blaise is now highly invested in his food.
"Ellie, I looked for you on the platform. I had no idea when you got there." Draco pouts rubbing his arm. I go to punch him again and Blaise wraps an arm around me. "Once is enough Ellie, twice and you'll hurt yourself." he whispers. I place my legs over his turning my back on Draco. "Wow!" I hear Draco mutter.
I turn and stick my tongue out then turn around quickly smacking him with my hair. "Ellie!" Blaise says with a note of warning. I put my head on his shoulder and nibble on an orange slice. I have Blaise read my schedule since I'm too lazy to. I yawn tiredly and he chuckles. "You haven't even gone to your first class and you're already tired." he smiles.
Ignoring him I climb onto his lap and read his schedule. He doesn't say anything. Instead, he feeds me the leftover fruit I haven't finished. When I've finished everything on my plate, he feeds me a slice of toast. "Feeling better?" he mumbles kissing my neck. I nod and start making myself some breakfast sandwiches. Blaise chuckles. "Did you want one?" I ask. "Damn, I assumed one was for me. Hold up, are you telling, like seriously telling me that you made 12 sandwiches for yourself with no intention of sharing?" Blaise frowns. I give his lips a quick peck and turn back to my food.
I wind up making Blaise eight sandwiches and Draco six. I look at Theo who's staring at the sandwich pile his mouth open. "Do you want a sandwich too?" I ask. He nods like a hyper little puppy and I reach over and ruffle his hair. Blaise frowns as I sit back down in his lap.
Astoria and I skip ahead of the guys as we head up to our first class. I turn around and hold my arms out. Draco and Blaise roll their and I go hug Theo before running into my class with Astoria. When class lets out a very upset Draco and Blaise are standing there.
I try and fail to duck past them. Nibbling on my last sandwich I listen to their scolding as they walk me to my next class. "You two are my two favorite guys in the world so would it kill you to shorten your nag by a half a lifetime?" I huff as I walk into my next class. Astoria stumbles in after me while Blaise and Draco get dragged away by Theo.
Astoria nudges me and I turn to her innocently. "What?! You know that they scold for hours on hours. I'll apologize later." I promise taking out my summer homework and books. Astoria hands me a chocolate frog and I eat quickly before class starts.
True to my word I apologize profusely when classes let out for the day. Draco takes longer to convince so I get Astoria to help me. He finally cracks a smile and we kiss his cheeks before running up to our dorm. I sprawl out on my bed with Serenity and pet her. Blaise is waiting for me at the top of the stairs when I come up for dinner.
I smile when he pulls me to his chest. "You know I don't like being called a nag." he frowns. "Ah, you're right. You're a lazy bum." I giggle. He looks away biting his lip and I know he's trying not to laugh. "I'm hungry sweetheart. Can we please go eat?" I whisper. Blaise hums in thought. "Please, I won't call you a nag ever again." I promise. He leans down to kiss my cheek but I shift last minute and kiss his lips.
I laugh at his shocked expression and skip up to dinner. I sit between Pansy and Astoria and we gossip our way through dinner. Blaise keeps his distance from me after dinner which catches Theo and Draco's eye. I merely shrug and turn back to doing Pansy and Astoria's nails. I'm the last turn in and can't bring myself to shut down. I grab my violin and go up to the Astronomy Tower.
I play around with a tune I've been working on over the summer. The sorrowful melody fills the empty night air picked up by the creatures of the night in the forest below. I can barely see the Merpeople and the giant squid just below the surface of the Black Lake. A few Centaurs come to the shadow's edge of the forest.
I play until just before dawn. The owls and early morning birds repeat the final notes and I go back to my dorm. I'm showered and in the hall for breakfast by the time Astoria makes it up. She gawks at me. "Didn't you sleep at all last night Ellie?" she gasps. "I couldn't sleep." I yawn tiredly.
She eyes me carefully as she grabs some toast. "Blaise and Draco are going to throw a fit when they find out." I ruffle her hair and head up to my first class. I have music today and the professor keeps shooting glances my way as if trying to assess my mental state. I'm told to stay behind after class and sigh sadly. The Professor eyes me quizzically for several minutes before frowning.
"Your mother sent a letter saying your father passed away and you don't seem as enthusiastic in class as you did before. Are you well?" she wonders. I nod and bite my lip. "I'm trying not to be so reliant on others and really find out who I am." I murmur. She hums and sits on the edge of my desk. "And who is Ellie so far?" she wonders. "Someone who is loved. Someone who doesn't always realize how talented and smart she is at times. Someone who will always have someone there to care for her and be there for her." I whisper.
She puts a hand on my shoulder. "You are a very talented young woman who I'm more than positive will accomplish amazing things in the future. I've read the notes from your old professor. Not to mention the rave reviews from your training company. Keep doing well and they may just offer just offer you a job. You can come to me if you need anything, anything at all." she smiles placing a hand on my shoulder.
Theo is waiting for me outside and I frown. "Damn, Ellie. I might not be your boyfriend, cousins, or best friend but you could still look happy to see me." he pouts. I smile and pinch his cheek. "Are you escorting me so I don't run from a punishment awaiting me back in the common room?" I wonder. He pauses and falters. I transform into my Animagus form, an Occamy, and fly away.
I land at the lake and transform back. I sit on a tree root and watch the water surface ripple. I hear footsteps and turn away. "Ellie, get up. Let's go." Blaise sighs. I get up and walk away. I hear him follow me and sigh. I transform and fly away to the other side of the lake. I see him put his hands on his hips as I transform back. I storm off as he starts to round the lake. Round and round we go and I run up to the school. I hide behind a door in an empty classroom.
Once I'm sure he's nowhere in the vicinity I leave and skip back outside. I drift off taking a little nap before dinner but when I wake, I realize I'm in the hall at dinner my head on Blaise's shoulder. I nab a roll while he's distracted by his conversation with Draco and Theo. I munch quietly and yawn tiredly falling back asleep.
I stumble sleepily up to my first class having already missed breakfast. Astoria shakes her head as I slump down next to her. She slides me a loaded bagel and I nod my thanks. "I heard you transformed yesterday." she smirks. I choke on my breakfast. She pats my back. "Thought so. Not only are Draco and Blaise now furious you have to see Snape after classes today." she giggles. I flip her off and she tries to bite my finger.
I leave my meeting with Snape and run right into Draco. He points down the dungeons and I start walking. He wastes no time scolding me. I wait until we're at a really dark section of the dungeons then pretend like I'm still walking. It takes him ten minutes to realize I'm no longer there.
I've transformed and am waiting patiently as he walks back furious. I fly past him and zoom straight to the door to the common room. I transform back and race up to my dorm. Pansy and Astoria nod in shock as I walk in lie on my bed.
