Author's note: Before we begin, I must thank u all for your support! ¡Muchísimas gracias a todos! This means a lot to me since it's my birthday and I was hoping to make a good story as birthday present for you all. We move on and I have a little surprise for you. I hope I can get the following scenes right. And gracias de nuevo, Jorge Gutierrez, for presenting bats in a positive light. Nobody does that usually and it's a pity. Now let's check the mail.

Guest (chapter 1): I think that Maya and Zatz split themselves in two. That way they're both Manolo and Maria AND the sun and moon. It's just what makes the most sense considering the show. But I like it D You should consider adding that into the story 3

Me: One of my rules as a writer is to always research the topic I'm going to work with (and to write with a good soundtrack), hence why I rewatched certain scenes in Maya, read and watched about the series and the Book of Life; and went through information about the Aztecs. I found three interesting lines to explain why the moon and sun are different in TBOL: 1) The Myth of the Fifth Sun. Is a little long but concludes that if the Aztecs ever stopped pleasing the Sun, it would come crashing and disappear. Maybe, when the Aztecs disappeared, so did Maya and Zatz as these entities, but maybe that's just me. 2) They were reborn again because as Moon and Sun they weren't really together. They died at the end of the show, after all. 3) Related to number 1, as time went by, they were forgotten by everyone and came back as Maria and Manolo. Different lives but destined to fall in love. I dunno. But thank u so much for reading.

SaradaOtsutsukiUchihaHaruno2.0 (chapter 1): I am glad to know that I was not the only person who thought that without a doubt there was logic both for their voice interpreters and for the story of the characters, I hope you can continue with this beautiful story.

Me: Thank you for following the story! I came up with that theory after seeing them fight in the chapter when they meet Picchu. I told myself that was a Manolo and Maria moment (just like everyone I guess). And I felt in love with Zatz. Diego Luna is a wonderful actor (Awesome character, too) and with Zoe, they are perfect. I was really happy to read that Jorge Gutierrez (aka Word of God here) had confirmed it to be true.

Ok. Let's move!

2. Tezcatlipoca

General Camazotz watched in silence as his son tried to sleep. The blood loss had been so severe that even the Medicine God, Patecatl, was still not sure if the boy would live to see another sunrise. Not many deities were shown mercy when Mitclan became the new Lord of the Underworld, but the God of War had spared Camazotz, despite his previous attempts to overthrown him, attempts that resulted in the death of the Bat God's love. Apparently, Mitclan was not willing to lose a good general and feared deity among humans, despite their mutual dislike. Or maybe he was just trying the keep the wound open and bleeding. After all, he had taken away one of Zatz's eyes as a 'token of good will'. Or more like a hostage element of their now forced alliance, thought the Bat God to himself, as he watched the child cry. Had Mitclan considered sacrificing the boy? His son could barely asleep, his hands tied to keep them from touching the wound, shaking under his blanket in fever. Zatz was a half human, after all, and his life was still fragile. The poor boy touched with feeble fingers his mother's last gift, finding some comfort in that simple gesture and, after a while, relaxed and stopped moving.

"Ay, mijo. My poor, poor boy! How could I live without you? How could I let him do this to you? I'm such a terrible father. I'm so sorry, Zatz. Por favor, perdóname. Please, don't leave me, mijo. No me dejes" Camazotz touched the boy's pale cheek and was relieved to see that he was breathing more gently. "Isn't there a way to have his eye back? I would do anything. Daría mis ojos"

"For now, it's best for him to just survive this night. If we try anything, we might harm him further" the Medicine God explained. "But fear not, Camazotz. He's a strong boy. Vivirá"

"Gracias" the Bat God sighed and waited the whole night beside his son's side. They were both asleep, when La Catrina stepped into the room and looked at the sleeping child, almost hidden under the furry blanket. The Goddess kneeled gently and heard him call for his mother in his sleep. Touching him in the forehead, she was able to calm him down and lead him away from his nightmares with her beautiful voice, singing an old Nahualt song. (That it's actually real. I checked).

"Here are my jade teponaztli

and my green-bird conch that I blow,

I Quaquauhtzin. I have arrived,

I have arisen, I the singer.

Ayyo huiya"

Zatz opened his only eye after a while and looked at the Death Goddess with a mixture of sadness and hope. The boy seemed to struggle to stay awake.

"H-have you come to take me to my Mama?" asked the prince.

"No, mi amor. Hoy no" whispered La Catrina. "You're still too young. One day, I promise. I'll take you to her myself when you have no more things to do"

"I miss Mama. Was I bad today? Is that why I can't see you?" Zatz spoke weakly. She was moved by the fact that he thought that this was all his fault.

"Of course not, mijo. You're a wonderful boy and your Papa loves you so much" the goddess pointed at the sleeping Camazotz. "But you have many adventures ahead. After all, you're still half god"

"It's so dark, I'm scared" muttered the prince.

"You should go back to sleep, Zatz. You are not well, mi vida. Get rest so you can see me next time" the woman smiled and he began to close his eyes.

"You promise I'll go with you one day?"

"I promise, mijo" she crossed her heart. "When the time is right, I'll take you to your Mama myself" Catrina kissed him and he felt asleep. "It's a promise in this life and the next one"

XXX

Many years later, as Zatz walked into the Teca City to retrieve Princess Maya, by order of Lord Mitclan, he remembered those words. La Catrina had promised him a life of adventure before returning to his mother. He gently touched the eye-patch on his left eye and glanced at the Royal Couple with a sneer, before seeing the lovely princess standing behind them.

A life of adventure, indeed.

Isn't it funny that La Catrina favors Manolo over Joaquin? I thought about it and considered the possibility that they met during his first life as Zatz. She seemed really fond of the Sanchez boy, after all.

We'll get more of this hidden scenes later.

The gods mentioned in this chapter are from the Aztecs. Thank u all and see you soon! ¡Hasta pronto!
