X3runner: Keeping it to the Nagato/Pain abilities to keep it simple for everyone. Aura and Chakra differ but Aura will be used as fuel similar to chakra. Though we can scratch Jaune learning Jutsus that are not related to the Rinnegan.
I'd like to say sorry in advance for grammar errors and such. It's hard to edit these things after I already put them out and not gonna lie, The UI has me stumped. I hope you enjoy the fic though!
It has been 2 years since the incident.
Jaune has been training in the mountains, going down every so often to turn in a bounty or two for the nearby Grimm. Not officially a hunter but acting as one.
While Nagato showed him all sorts of abilities relating to the rinnegan, Chakra differs greatly from Aura.
Aura protects but is not as malleable as chakra, Jaune has learned not to question Nagato and his old world. While he is curious, he saw that it is better not to pry. He tried memorizing hand signs but to no avail the techniques that utilize chakra are far too advanced compared to what a person can do with Aura. His aura simply acts as a fuel to his new found powers.
His abilities, especially the more powerful ones cost quite a lot of Aura to use. Nagato has trained him in the art of using them but even with the power to absorb the aura of others using the Preta Path the same can not be said about fighting grimm. Those things have no souls, or in this case aura meaning that Jaune is incapable of absorbing energy from them. So in a fight against most people, or even groups of people he can be considered a huge threat but against the grimm he has to rely on his more "Explosive" techniques.
"Thanks for the service as always kid, are you heading for Vale now?"
"Yes sir, I have to get an official license at some point."
"Hahaha, work hard lad. From what I've seen though I feel like you'd be a threat out there for any of those City kids! " The old man cheered.
"Here, for your troubles." The old man handed him a few hundred lien. His last pay before he goes on to become an official huntsman.
Huntsman in training, hunter, or mercenary. Whatever you are as long as you work to protect the people outside of the main cities, you will be considered a hero. In the case of Jaune, he moved to a town a few hours away from his original one. Deciding to train there while also acting as one of the town's defenders.
A lot has changed about him, from the way he carried himself to the way he dressed. He decided that he liked the outfit that Nagato wore so he jacked his style. A long black cloak, with red clouds, a red interior and a chin-high collar. Underneath he wears a simple black shirt and some black joggers.
For his weapons he uses a reforged version of his old sword, Crocea Mors. Now turned into a sleek one-handed blade. At its end is the arc family crest, he would never forget his origins after all.
According to Nagato, this was a kind of sword that his friend Yahiko liked to wield. Something about "Kenjutsu" being the way of the sword.
"Hello everyone, This has been flight 4-32. We are currently landing at Vale airport, those with a connecting flight please head on over to the right while those who have a -"
"Got it to the right, I almost forgot that I hated these things."
He headed over to a bullhead filled with other people near his age, notably there seems to be an underaged kid with a blonde woman. He worked hard to keep his food down back to his stomach, motion sickness is a stupid condition and his only remedy for it is to meditate.
He visualized himself growing 4-extra arms as he grappled with a beowolf. In the last two years, the best way he has of calming himself down is by visualizing the death of a few black furred creatures.
He could feel the gaze of someone to his right and right as the ship landed he gave this person a little stare back. They made eye contact, her yellow eyes with his purple. She felt a chill go up her spine before she jumped out of the aircraft. "Faunus" He thought to himself as he followed the crowd of people.
Before Ozpin's speech.
"Yeah! She's a hazard to my health!" He heard a white-haired woman speak out, seemingly bombarding the younger red-hooded girl with insults.
He just minded his own business, he wanted to finish initiation as soon as possible but according to what he heard
"Yeah! We can paint our nails and try out clothes and talk about cute boys like tall, blonde and... edgy over there-"
"What was that?" He stared at the Heiress, in his opinion it was a stare that should warn her about how she should speak. He minded his own business so she should do the same. All she could feel were eyes seemingly seeing through here false bravado.
"Uhh I mean, no. Yeah back to what I was saying if you really want to make it up to me Miss Rose then read this pamphlet and never talk to me again." He scared her off.
All in all his first day at Beacon ended up all right, sleeping on the floor with a bunch of strangers was not part of the plan but what else could he do?
The next day started off well, the food they had at the cafeteria just has a lot of variety compared to what he's used to back at the town he defended.
At the locker room where everyone is preparing their gear, a familiar white-haired individual is conversing with a red-head.
He again chose to mind his own business as he took out a few small pouches from his locker. The pouches contain a variety of equipment from kunais, shurikens to smoke bombs. He also has a colt, a classic pistol. He carries a few extra magazines.
The gun is hidden within his cloak so most of the time people assume that he doesn't use one.
After a few words from Ozpin, they were off.
The Six paths technique, Jaune gained access to it upon awakening his Rinnegan. Among the paths the ones he uses the most are the two most "Aggressive" ones. The Deva and the Asura paths, while he doesn't use the big moves for each of them often his control over these two paths is at a high level.
With the Deva path, his landing is the smoothest. Having only used a bit of his aura since he's used to the Deva path's abilities.
He heard rustling from the bushes nearby and saw the figure of an Ursa.
"Grimm."
A sword cleaved through the Ursa's head as he dashed around the area. There were a few more of them, he utilized the Asura path to full effect increasing the number of his arms as he danced around the battlefield. In no less than a few minutes he took out close to a dozen of them.
He could sense a presence from behind him, it seems that someone was watching. "Hello there!"
"Who might you be?"
"Pyrrha, Pyrrha Nikkos."
"Jaune, it's a pleasure."
He got his partner just like that.
"So you were a provisional hunter in one of the towns north of Vale?"
"Yeah, had no choice. Old home got fucked up by a horde. How about you? You don't seem like you're from Vale either."
"Ahh yes, I come from Mistral." It all made sense to her now, he was one of the few people who chose not to look at her and the Schnee's direction. He didn't seem to know anything about her history or even show recognition towards him or Weiss.
To him, she was just another girl present for initiation. The perfect partner, it also helps that he seems to be pretty strong too.
"Is that a nevermore?" Pyrrha asked rhetorically as the giant flying bird circled around their future schoolmates. To their right is a green-clad boy and an orange haired girl, they appear to be running away from a giant scorpion.
"They'll take care of the bird, let's help the duo over there."
Pyrrha nodded at this deciding to help those that were in immediate danger. The two groups dealt with their own demons.
"Pyrrha, keep shooting. I'll give them time to prepare. I'll raise my left hand when you can go okay?"
Truth be told he could end it there with a single attack but draining his Aura didn't seem like a good idea since more grimm were likely to come to the area if he did so.
So he decided to keep the Deathstalker at bay while the duo ran behind Pyrrha.
The three of them watched as Jaune blocked the stinger with his 4- extra arms. He then proceeded to cut off the stinger before jumping back to dodge the scorpion's grasp.
"NOW!"
Pyrrha and the other two followed his lead as they overwhelmed the now stinger-less deathstalker. While the carapace was hard, they soon managed to breach its defenses, it's a battle of attrition and Jaune liked their odds. A scorpion without a stinger is like a bird without its wings. Speaking of which both teams took down their foes within the same time frame. Each nodding at each other as they all ended their respective opponents.
