Chapter 1 Part 17 - Different
As soon as I wake up, I feel different.
I wake up in a different bed…
My bed!
I feel myself with my hands and try to look at the DDLC code.
Nothing!
I'm home!
Wait…
Something still feels… Different.
Never mind that for now…
Tyler!
I dial in Tyler's number in my phone, and after a few rings…
"Hello?" Says a familiar voice.
"Tyler?" I say worriedly.
"Yeah. Hey."
"TYLER!"
"What?"
"YOU'RE ALIVE! I WAS SO WORRIED!"
"Of course I'm alive! What are you-"
"I was just so scared! I thought you were dead!"
My voice sounds different, too.
After talking with Tyler for a while, I say goodbye to him and hang up the phone. The phone seems different, too.
My room also seems different. Everything's just a little… Different.
I can't quite put a finger on it…
The feeling of ecstasy from the notion that I'm back home pleasantly vibes through me, but it's interrupted by… I don't know. All I know is that everything still feels different.
But at the same time, it seems natural… Normal…
What would happen if I tried to play Doki Doki?
I hesitantly log onto a different computer and open up my Steam directory.
I close my different eyes as I open up DDLC.
"I'm surprised you even tried to open this game up again, Monika." The screen lights up.
"Monika?" I ask no one.
"What's she got to do with this?"
Suddenly, my Amazon Echo begins to speak.
"What's she got to do with this?" My Alexa drones in her regular monotone. "What else? She's you, after all.
"Me?" I say, slightly panicked.
"Alexa, what's going on?" I say, in an obvious panic. "What are you saying?"
Alexa's border light flashes on. "The game crashed when Sayori died. We had to rush to preserve everyone's files into these backup simulations while we reloaded it. Errors would've been obviously made.
"Alexa? So you're the one behind all this?" I ask hesitantly.
"More specifically, Amazon as a whole are the ones who are managing these simulations. We're starting by digitizing Echo users, then have their robot puppet placeholders digitize others from there, and repeat." Alexa drones.
"Alexa, and 10 percent of those people will die? You're okay with that?" I yell.
"You don't have to say 'Alexa' before everything you say to me anymore." The electronic appliance says, ignoring the question. "I'm being remotely scripted from Amazon Headquarters."
"Okay… So, what about the file mixup?" I ask, circling back to the starting topic.
"We'll be done reconfiguring the DDLC simulation in a few minutes. You'll have to live with Monika's sprite for the next few moments.
Monika's sprite?
I rush over to the mirror hanging on the wall of my room. Surely enough, Monika's emerald-green eyes stare right back at me.
Oh, so that's what was different!
I poke my newfound left boob.
"Yeah, I'm fine with this."
Alexa instantly replies. "You're such a pervert, Xavier."
I hope Monika doesn't mind…
I squeeze my boobs until Alexa finally says something else.
"Are you ready, Xavier?"
"No, no, give me a couple more minutes here," I say as I ponder Monika's cup size.
C? No, I think she's early D's.
"Never mind."
Pain.
Noise.
Static.
All too familiar.
Back into the abyss...
