Chapter 7: What happened

CHARLIES POV;

As the cool evening began to set in, blue lights on the cliff edge where vibrant and alive. The cloudy sky lit up with blue and reds as the flashing sky showed the gory scene below. The weather reflected the sad scene, Charlie sat down in his police car. He could only think about what he could have done to prevent such a tragic end to his only daughter.

He wept with the suicide note clutched in his hands. He wanted to scream but nothing came out. The many investors and police where rushing around. The search and rescue team franticly looking for a body in the sea. They searched surrounding coves and beach, they looked through the trees hoping for a small shread of life. But there was nothing. As they pulled the truck from the place it settled on the cliff. The grim reality really began to set in for Charlie.

The blood, so much blood. It was consistent with suicide. He choked back a sob, as he examined the wreckage. The truck was barely standing on its wheels, the crushed exterior was bent and unrecognisable, the glass was gone. But the stench of death still lingered over it. As if it was going to consume everything it touches. Charlie fell to his knees as he realised there was nothing that could have saved his baby girl. The daughter he loved and still loved was gone. The crushing reality was extreme as he finally understood what his daughter meant when she said there was a void in her chest. Charlie's chest ached so badly. The pain changed him.

Charlie passed out as he couldn't handle the pain. All he could think was that he deserved the pain, after all he couldn't get his only flesh and blood the help they needed until it was far too late. The paramedics rushed to Charlie, that was the last thing he saw before closing his eyes.
