Chapter 6: 'Operation: Nightshade' (Part 2)
I'm now five miles up in the air, out of the range of any flak guns as the cargo door was opening. The suit is tight-fitted, but comfortable with fins attached to the sides of my back hooves. I wore a modified 'flak helmet' where the mask of my breathing apparatus holds my mouthpiece to my scuba gear. I'm also getting my instructions from the officer
"Okay, we have conducted similar operations like these to sink high-value targets, what you are doing is far more dangerous, seeing your targeted area, and your objective is smaller, so please listen, all the security is below the island, so you will have to work efficiently and you will have to work fast," said Adelaide, I nodded as I'm gearing myself up.
"Une minute!" yelled a crew-griff
I lowered the flight goggles over my eyes, "One other thing, according to Ocellus, you know how some say 'don't push the big red button'? Well, Guard-Ponies are ordered to push a 'big red button' if there is any outside interference with Princess Luna to fill the holding area and drown her, Ocellus is still undercover, so Ocellus will help in your escape"
I got the signal, and I jumped out of the plane. It's so quiet, and very peaceful in the skies as I kept my breathing steady under my mask and helmet. I kept my front, and back hooves slightly spread in my free fall. Lake Hippocampus was soon coming into view as I went through the white clouds, and straightened myself out with my back legs together.
With my front hooves touching my sides, I had timed it just right to pull the cord on my parachute to open it to slow me down. At about 7m from the water, I cut the cord, and landed with a good splash back hooves first into the waters of the lake. I took off the flight helmet, and put on the dive mask and black fins to go with my hooded black wetsuit.
With the breathing apparatus of the scuba gear in my muzzle, I began to swim with my front hooves at my sides and my back hooves doing the kicking. Now according to the Kenpeitai, there is a grid in the floor of Princess Luna's cell, and there's only one cell in this complex. At about 60ft down into the lake, I saw the grid which means that's her cell.
Luna soon spotted me below her. A now full-grown and mature Princess Luna as big as Princess Celestia was chained to the walls, and had an inhibitor ring around her horn. I'm guessing that is to limit her magic power. I put a hoof up to my muzzle signal her to keep quiet, "Do hurry, there will be a changing of the guard soon," said Princess Luna quietly
A Guard-Pony spotted me at the grid, but she didn't say anything or alert the other Guard-Ponies and gave me a wink. It was Ocellus in disguise. Using my tool kit in a bag in front of me, I got to work unscrewing the screws in the grid. Hidden in the bowl of food was a pair of keys to the shackles "Let's get you out of here your Majesty" she whispered
"What the..." said a stallion
Ocellus had unchained Princess Luna as I got the iron grid open with my magic. The Guard-Pony radioed for back-up, "Security breach, I repeat, we have a security breach!" he radioed, and was shot by Ocellus. More Guard-Ponies were coming in, and one pushed the 'big red button' which began to flood the cell area. I gestured for the two to hurry up.
As the Guard-Ponies closed in, Ocellus changed back into her normal form, "Changeling Cockroach!" one snarled, Ocellus was giving cover fire as Princess Luna escaped with a 'pencil dive' into the hole. Ocellus followed us, and gave taunting 'hoof-kisses' to the Guard-Ponies before escaping into the hole. We had gotten to shore in the Griffon Kingdom.
"This way!" said a 'Grenzsoldat'
The Guard-Ponies emerged on the island only to be met by rifle fire from the Griffon Border Guards. I took off my dive gear at the border house of the Grenzsoldaten, and we made our escape to the Griffon Kingdom, "Well done, well done," said Princess Luna, there is still the issue with that inhibitor ring on her horn which also makes her a weak flyer.
"The Ponies haven't reached Griffonstone yet, so what we'll do is get Luna to Griffonstone, and get an audience with the Queen, she'll let you stay and get you on the first flight out to Kiku, the Empress should be able to help you get that inhibitor ring off your horn," I explained to Luna, to think the Princess of the Night fully matured from her prison cell
"Then we must not waste anymore time," said Princess Luna, and we hurried through the forested trails. At dawn the next morning, we got onto one of the main roads used by the Griffon Army. Princess Luna had waved down an Sdkfz. 250 Half-Track that happened to be passing by. The driver-griffon had to make a double-take as he saw Princess Luna
"Do excuse me, my Good Gentle-Griffon, but is this vehicle going to Griffonstone?" she asked, he nodded nervously, and she got in as we followed getting inside behind her, "you need not be nervous around me, for I mean you no harm" she assured the driver, and concluded a successful escape. We had reached the walls of Griffonstone, and a checkpoint
"I wish for an audience with Queen Galiana, my business is my own," explained Princess Luna, even the checkpoint guard was surprised to see Princess Luna in the back of the half-track. He let them pass. This part of the mission was over. The next phase is getting Princess Luna to Kiku where she will be in exile to recover both her strength and magic.
