My Little Pony: Sleeping Giant
Chapter 11: Cry of the Thunder God
From the ground and from the air, our forces were letting Equestria's armies have it. Under the cover of the night and the heavy fire, a squad of my Tulparian 'Big Mare' sisters entered the village. I know them all: 'Blackjack', 'Grey Ghost', 'Purple Heart', and now my very best friend that I know as 'Big Val': 'Valiant Charge', "Good to see you," she said
Our flanks wiggled as we hugged, and looked to each other to nuzzle muzzles, "You too, I missed you so much," I replied, and I did the same to all the Tulparian Mares gathered at the entrance. My husband smiled warmly as he went to see what was going on, and came upon my reunion with my friends, "alright, Big Mares, this is my husband, Grayling"
"Whew-we, you know how to pick 'em, sis," said Purple Heart, Valiant Charge's second-in-command. Back in our days in the Royal Army of Equestria, we Tulparians always got the short end of the deal. Although we get the current arms, we were given the old uniforms and M1917A1 helmets. We wear them with pride. We all took up fortified positions.
"What'll survive that?" asked Gabby
"A pony," said Grey Ghost
"Make no mistake, the Equestrians will find a way to get passed the bombs and the heavy shelling," said Colonel De Faucon, "once we have made our move, it will be their turn, the ponies will attack under the cover of their artillery," at about 5:30am on the second day, the Equestrians fired back with their 155mm guns and 8in howitzers to soften us up.
A few of the shells were hitting near us, but the shockwave from the barrage is terrible. I crawled over on my belly with my rifle slung behind my back, and slipped into a trench to be at my husband's side, "Mein schatz," he said, and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I kissed his cheek back, and gave it a nuzzle. A shell hit near us, and it rained down debris.
We ducked in the trench at the same time as it rained down bits of pebbles and dirt on our heads. The two entrances that we defended acts as a bottleneck with a slight incline, giving us the high ground. Princess Ghislaine asked Grayling to have the Tulparians be under his command. Spearheading the attack was a monster "Celestia's Hammer!" I yelled
"Feu!" commanded Wilhelmina
"Vuur!" barked out Heloise
A 100mm high-velocity shell from the Char 30 AP screamed forward, and hit the tank hunter under the hull near the main gun, and a 120mm high velocity armor-piercing shell from the AMX 50 Foch B hit a direct hit on the frontal armor, turning the inside of the TS-5 into a fireball. A shell from an M25 tank just missed the side armor of a Griffon panzer
"Oh no! You did not shoot that at my tank!" Genette sassed back amid the fire of battle, "Feuer!" her 'Kampfpanzer Jaguar' medium tank fired back with a 90mm armor-piercing shell to hit the side armor of the tank, and knock it out. Explosions rang out, and killed the Equestrian Ponies trying to charge up the hill as the anti-tank guns are having a feast
It was our turn as we engaged the enemy with rifle, and machine gun fire once they were in range. A shell landed a direct hit on a mare trying to direct her troops, and she just vanished in a blackened explosion and a small puff of white smoke. Our rifles picked off the charging ponies while our machine guns cut them down like grass to the lawnmower.
I soon hit my mark, "Gotcha!"
"Good hunting, my Sugar Flanks!"
"Is that what he calls you?! How cute!" yelled Valiant Charge amid the constant shellfire. I looked up to hear the hum of aircraft engines. A few Kawasaki Ki-78 'Katana' fighter planes swooped down, and pumping pony guts full of lead from their machine guns, and 20mm cannon. We cheered, and raised our weapons skyward as we got our air support.
Amid the air support, the tanks rolled in to mop up any resistance, and we charged under their cover. A shell rang out from a Char 30 AP to hit a .50 cal machine gun nest that was giving us a bit of trouble. The gunner-pony was vaporized, and the front half of a dead loader-mare flew through the air like a clay shooting pigeon before hitting the ground
With bayonets fixed, we fought the ponies on the open ground. One lost her head to Sakura Breeze's katana while I killed one with a headshot from my rifle. Griffon-soldiers and Hippogriff-soldiers can be seen pulling out tank crews by force and finishing them with a knife or bayonet, "Fall back!" ordered a commanding officer. I then shot him in the heart
"They're on the gallop!" cheered Glenda
"Victory!" cheered White Lotus
Some of the soldiers were taking shots, and killing the retreating Ponies. When everypony works together and does their part in the battle while following orders, casualties can be at a minimum. That griffon-soldier, whose wife was named Gia, is still alive after the first day of action. We did not lose a single soldier, and we still have wounded to tend to.
That griffon's name was Giorgio. My flanks wiggled as I hugged my husband from his side, and kissed his cheek as I watched the Equestrian Army retreat. He picked me up, and off my hooves like the day we got married, and he passionately kissed me "They will return, the Ponies are stubborn," said Grayling as I got out of his embrace "Reload! Reload!"
A piece of debris cut Giorgio up near his eyebrow as a Nurse-Griffon was pulling out bits and pieces from the wound, "What're you a hatchling? Quit squirming," she said to him out of annoyance as she sewed the wound, and cleaned it with a cotton pad and rubbing alcohol before bandaging up the wound which covered his right eye. The price of victory.
